I trust David and the crew at Hill Auto to help repair and maintain my car better than any other shop I have encountered in the neighborhood. There are three other mechanics in the hill area. I have worked with all of them, with various vehicles over the past 12 years, and none have been as honest and straight forward. No sales tactics here. You can expect direct communication about what is needed and pricing as soon as they assess your vehicle. The only time I felt any pressure was when they felt like I was asking them to do something that was not recommended

David and Rene lead an incredible team of mechanics. I could not be happier with their service and experience. They were even able to diagnose a problem that a dealership had totally glossed over. I would absolutely recommend them.

Hill Auto Repair has been the best. They've been servicing my (new to me) 99 Jeep Cherokee and it's running amazingly well thanks to their work. They're not cheap but they get the job done right and they do it quickly. They even went the extra mile and did a few odd jobs around the car that I hadn't mentioned to them. I had a replacement trim panel in the back near the spare tire and they installed it for me, as well as fixed my loose rear view mirror. I highly recommend David and his staff.

Our 14 year old car is running beautifully after 10 years of David s care. Hill Auto is honest, stands by their work, and is accommodating to their customers schedule. Their priorities are your safety while being sensitive to costs. We have gone to them for regular maintenance, in emergencies, before long road trips, and when the dealership tried to convince us to undertake unnecessary repairs. We know we can trust their inspections and their charges have always been reasonable. David will explain why he is recommending repairs, tell you what you can wait to do, or what is not worth fixing. We would never go elsewhere.

First off, the people at Hill Auto Repair have been extremely helpful and accommodating. They came to my home to jump start my car when the battery died prior to my taking it to the shop. They do good work in a timely fashion, not to mention how convenient it is for Hill residents. This is now my new go to Auto repair shop.

Hill Auto is the only place you should bring your car. David is honest and will tell you exactly what you need. I am a single woman in DC and the first time I brought my car to David - my check engine light was on. I dropped off my car and headed back to the office. He called me about 20 mins later to tell me my gas cap was loose and to come get the car. Since that day, he is the only person who works on my car. I was there May 2018 when my 17 years old Honda Odyssey stopped at the Capitol Hill. I was visiting DC and planned to leave next day but no car shops were able to help me.except this one. The owner is very knowledgeable and identified the problem immediately. Also I was surprised that the charge was very reasonable with getting me back to the roads less than an hour. Very honest and accurate about the repair! I wish I could have one like this where I am currentlt living in.

Went to Hill Auto for the convenient location, now I won't go anywhere else. Very knowledgeable and helpful. Fair and honest, did not attempt to "oversell" but instead provided a road map for future maintenance. Professional, dependable, and very importantly - on time. I took my car here for some routine maintenance: tire rotation, oil change, etc. They were very communicative and timely, which is unfortunately not the case for all shops in the area. However, they were sure to call me with any updates or recommended maintenance after inspection and had the work done when they said they would. Overall, I would recommend them based on this experience.

We have been a customer of Hill Auto Repair since 2002 when we moved to Washington DC. Every single experience with David and his team has been courteous, transparent, and without a glitch. David is the ONLY mechanic I trust to tell me the truth about any problems with and potential fixes to our cars. As long as we own cars in the DC area, Hill Auto will be the only place of service and repair we will turn to.

They're a small no frills shop but they're honest, knowledgeable, and fair. They also don't talk down to women.Of all the places I've taken my car in the DMV they are my favorite.

I've been going to Hill Auto for something like 15 years. I have never had any problem with them. In fact at one point they replaced a side mirror with an after market one and it didn't adjust properly. Long story short they replaced it 4 times in all without charging anything extra.

I ve come to this place 3 times in 6 years and I used to have a positive experience. However, management must have changed as the gentlemen tried in every way possible to squeeze money out of without backing up the issues they claimed needed repair.I was quoted $95 for air filters which cost $10-12 at a local auto store.. once I was quoted this insane price I had had enough.I asked to be shown the leak for verification and they told me they could not.THEN although I asked them to only look into an oil leak, they told me I would need to pay for their time spent looking into other 5 things they looked decided to check. Which is ludicrous to say the least.I will absolutely be taking my repairs and business to another establishment.

Have been using this place for a few years, always really did a good job.Tried calling today and they re apparently closed for a few years due to a major renovation! Sad to hear I hope everything works out

Hill Auto isn't cheap but they always do a great job. They have been servicing my 1996 Nissan for over 10 years and I'm never disappointed. Anyone I've told to go there is satisified!

Great service, very honest. Serviced my car there and they did a great job. And when I came in for servicing later, they informed me everything looked good because I hadn t driven much and I didn t need servicing for several more months. Didn t charge anything.

Hill Auto has cared for my BMW for years. I was originally referred by neighbors, all of whom still take their cars to David and his conscientious team. I cannot count the number of times they have dropped keys off at my house, parking my car right outside, late on a Friday. Above and beyond!

Echoing review that says this place may have been good in the past, but definitely no longer. They quote one price and then charge another, run diagnostic tests without outlining the costs associated, and become aggressive when confronted with dishonest pricing practices.If you need service on the Hill, definitely go to Distad's (or virtually anywhere else) instead.

They have amazing customer service, helped me out with my car and clearly explained everything so I could understand it. They worked with me to get the things fixed that I needed in order to get my car registered in DC. Will definitely be going to them from now on. Thank you so much!

I couldn t be happier with the service I received at Hill Auto! I received a quote at another shop and Hill quoted it at $300 less. Then, Hill Auto let me know that two of the services the other shop told me were essential were unnecessary. I ll be going back for all my future needs!

DO NOT GO HERE!!! THIS IS A CHOP SHOP THEY WILL SELL YOU SERVICES YOU DO NOT NEED AND TELL YOU YOUR CAR IS DONE WHEN IT S NOT. I had my car overheating and they said it was the head gasket. It was not. IT WAS THE COOLANT RESERVOIR THAT HAD A HOLE. THEY WANTED ME TO PAY THEM $2000 FOR A BUNCH OF BSService: General repairs & maintenanceService: General repairs & maintenance

Honest place with a straight shooter running it. I appreciated the advice on a dealer-only repair last time I took my car in, and I trust their diagnoses.
