I don't know where to start with this review. My fianc� has been going to Melvin's for his vehicle for a few years. I live in Philadelphia and drive a 2015 Altima. Unfortunately for a year, my car was parked in front of my home, just un-driveable. I went to 4 different Nissan Dealerships and no one could tell me why my car would randomly lose power and stop running. I gave up until my fianc� suggested to take the car to Melvin's. We risked it by driving up from Philadelphia to Dover. It died on the way up once, we gave it a few minutes, and then it started to drive again. Then we made it to Melvin's! Jose suggested to use our vehicle to run errands to see exactly what was causing the power loss. No other mechanic has ever offered to do such a thing. I have never encountered such care and attention from a mechanic. He figured out! It was the alternator! I am forever grateful to this shop for getting my car to run again. Great customer service and attention to your needs. Please don't hesitate to bring your vehicle to Melvin's!

Melvin's is the best. They do a great multi point inspection and provide photos of the recommended repairs and categorize by necessity. Their labor rate is great and the way to pay is very convenient. The staff with whom we interested are fantastic. Just a great experience and my wife was as pleased with her experience and the work completed.Service: Oil change

I called on a Monday morning, after having to have my 2017 Jeep Wrangler towed home the night before, to ask if someone could look at it. They said sure, bring it in. He said they would run a diagnostic test, told me the cost and said he would call before proceeding with any repairs.By early afternoon they called me back to let me know exactly what the issue was (fuel injector), how much the cost would be to replace it, and that they had the part and could fix it by that afternoon.A couple of hours later I was picking up my Jeep! I paid less than what I was quoted because they didn t use all the parts they thought they would need to use. My Jeep runs beautifully! I m very impressed with the friendly, professional and expedient service I received and will use and recommend Melvin s for my Jeep s future servicing. Honest reviews matter to me and I always try to give them as well.I was looking for a new repair shop for my vehicle and looked at several places based on reviews.I am glad I picked Melvin's. I was quoted a price and when I asked was told what needed to be done to my car. I was able to drop off my car very early in the morning which was great. When the bill was presented I was surprised to see it was cheaper than the quote I was given. Very friendly and professional people, was not put on hold forever like most places.As an older person I was not sure about the no contact process. But I found the online process of scheduling and payment very easy and fast.Overall I was very pleased and I believe you will be as well. I have found the shop to fix both of my cars.Service: Transmission

I took my 2015 Chevy Traverse in b/c I had leaking in my driver side door window. I assumed it was a seal issue. Come to find out it was not. Jose was honest and recommended a place where I could get my car fixed correctly.I was impressed that he still attempted to fix what he could before recommending me to another place. And they did not charge me much for doing what he could.I appreciated the honesty.Service: Body & Trim

I have been a regular customer at Melvin's Service Center for over 2 years and have always been happy with the professionalism and friendliness of the staff. Jose and Mary are the best, and their technicians are top notch. Best of all -- reasonable prices and excellent work always. For instance, once I had a short in the air blower for my AC in my 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee -- instead of taking the easy way out and just saying you need to replace the air blower - they were able to trace the problem to a short in one wire. This saved me as well as showed me the lengths that Melvin's Service Center will go to, to assure a quality repair and reasonable prices. I always recommend Melvin's Service Center to all my friends.

We have been loyal clients of Melvins since 2016, after relocating to Dover.They are honest , do excellent work.,have never tried to sell us something we did not require,when we do need something repaired Josealways explains the cost factor, and our options. I had an issue with my 2011 Mini Cooper on Sunday. They had my car back to me, fully repaired, oil changed, and all for a great price the following Wednesday.These guys are awesome, fantastic customer service, and the work seems to be amazing. Thanks, Melvin's!

Took our SUV here after it started to misfire. They were able to diagnose it quickly and were very thorough about the issue. They even called the dealership to check on the warranty information to make who should handle the repairs. I truly appreciated their honesty and genuine care. The experience was beyond satisfactory and I would recommend them to anyone

This was my second time using Melvin s for my Subaru. My son has been using them for years and recommended them. They do quality service at a good price. Easy to get an appointment and they are on time. Support the hometown service center!

We won't take our vehicles anywhere else. Melvin's does great work at a fair price. And, they manage to squeeze us in when we have an emergency or need to have work done at a specific time. Awesome folks providing outstanding service - who could ask for more?

Melvin's is a very professional service center, the quality work is the best. I will use to take my car to BMW dealership but no more. Melvin's will give you pictures of your problem and fair repair cost. They are completely no contact which is COVID safe. Thank You

I was visiting family in Dover when a clutch problem came up. Not knowing the area I had an estimate from the local dealer come to $5,200. OK, that's more than my car is worth, so I moved on to Melvin's. Happy, happy customer. Jose couldn't have been more professional and patient in working with me to find a more reasonable solution. Brought my Jeep in because a service engine alert appeared. I also needed a thorough inspection of the undercarriage for any potential problems. They did a professional job! Where they easily could have charged me for parts I had thought necessary, they just fairly charged me for service done and explained the why s of all decisions they made. I was impressed with this service shop and how they treat their customers. I was referred to this shop because they are a partner with the CarMax MaxCare service plans. I was having an issue with my brakes and suspected it was a problem with the brake hardware. The technician did a thorough inspection and was able to break down exactly what all the issues were and what was covered under the MaxCare service contract. Though he recommended additional work to be done, he did not pressure me to get it done and was understanding when i declined to go with the additional work. I also appreciated the steps they had taken to ensure safe and contactless drop-offs. It was a few extra steps, but it was fairly easy to fill out the paperwork and place my keys in the drop box. Picking up my vehicle was just as easy. Thank you, Melvin's Service Center.Service: Brake service & repair

This service was nothing shy of amazing 11/10! I spoke to Jose the whole time and he kindly explained everything to me and gave me a very fair price for everything (and I had about 5 big things done). I dropped my car off Wednesday afternoon and they had it back to me Friday! We've been to Melvin's previously with no problems so I decided to take one of the newer vehicles there that's in our household after it's warranty ran out. I got a phone call from the mechanic who didn't over explain or over dumb things down (which often happens when you're a woman). He explained everything that was wrong with my truck and what is to be done now and the time frame on any other issues along with pricing on all of it. I didn't have to hear the words "I'll have to check on that". I picked up my truck in a timing manner and except for forgetting to change my oil my truck is in excellent condition and we are extremely happy. It's why we will return to Melvin's again. Even for that oil change that was forgotten lol. But since I need a big brake system overhaul including even lines forgetting an oil change is a sneeze to us.

Good quality work and nice people. The service is very over priced however. I would think a "small town"/"mom-and-pop" mechanic would be better priced. At this kind of price I should just go to the dealership mechanic where I'm guaranteed OEM parts and certified "brand" mechanics. The repair cost almost half of the value of the car.

My first visit was a great! I made an appointment for 0800 and was out by 0900 for the replacement of a difficult to access sensor. The bill was as quoted on the phone and .25% less than dealer or other service repair shops. Melvin's is definitely worth checking out!

Melvins has never let me down. I take vehicles to them for my business (we have 4 work trucks). Every truck has been fixed correctly the first time, which means alot. Swapping parts gets expensive and time consuming. Some people have mentioned the parts costing more in other negative reviews. They do use OEM factory parts, which do cost more than something from Autozone or other budget places online, but I have had many instances where I've gotten a bad or poor quality part from a discount source, and the OEM parts last and last. Its much better to fix something once than to have the same issue months later.

Not sure what type of car care they deliver at Melvin's (never got that far) but, I do know that if you're looking for customer care to go along with your care care, don't go here! But this review is more about where to go when/if it happens. When Melvin's left me with an oil leak and a broken radiator, that they installed in my car three years ago, Ben and his professional staff at Meineke were there to piece this"damsel in a mess" back together. When/if you're left with a mess, go to Meineke three blocks down for your EXCELLENT car care and customer service experience.

Two cars back to back. Fixed as promised. Delivered quicker than expected. Clean and professional with OEM quality parts used. Price was more than fair. I would recommend any one taking their car or truck to Melvin's. Thanks!!

The BG service is a must for new car owners. Most dealers are not going to warrant the engine and transmission for a life time. The BG products do. The prices are better than the dealers. The also handle other products that have value added features them and this makes Melvin's stand out. Great service and great products there all at Melvin's.

I took my vehicle here twice. Thinking it was in good hands. Come to find out this place overcharged me double for a ingiton housing switch. I google the part and found it ranging from 65 to 189. I paid 378.00????? Thats an outrageous price diference. I did end up paying because of the urgency of me needing a vehicle. Also piror to this unfortunate event. I got a air pressure test done and was okay that i had no leaks. But come to my surprise my coolant is leaking.DON'T TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE. DON'T TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE.

Yeah they are absolutely the highest mechanic shop in all of Dover. they do good work but they if you want to pay 30 to 60% more then that's o shop for you.
