Best price I could find, fastest turn-around time, and great employees! Couldn't ask for anything more. Not my first time using Aamco and those are a few of the reasons why. From tow truck - back to work in a few days.Thanks!

No chance I will use them. My brother took his car there. It took weeks dealing with them and an outside repair insurance. Pricing through the roof. $350 to look at the car, no repairs. Of course, way high pricing and outside insurance means repairs aren't covered. Just a lousy choice. Both in repairs costs and insurance getovers claims in coverage to book value for the car left him carless and owing these folk who did nothing but charge $350. Anyone in business can see the poor choice here.

There are not enough words of praise I could give that would sufficiently describe the professionalism, transparency, and ease of service that AAMCO Claymont provides. Everyone there aims to be as clear and as helpful as possible when it comes to car service. The wrench light on my car came on and I sent it to them as soon as they were open. I was called the next day, where they explained what needed to be done to help find a remedy for my issue and the cost. Once they figured out what needed to be done - they called again to inform me of the cost of my battery replacement and my electrical work. I m sure if I wanted to call every day with questions about my car, they would be willing to walk me through it (I strongly advise against doing that). I was happy with the ease and quality of service - and recommend them to anyone I know.Be warned - they are very busy. Depending on the amount of cars that need to be worked on and the service your specific car needs, you won t get your car back in 2 seconds. If you go in for service with that in mind, you ll get the best service in Delaware.Services: Electrical, Battery

At Christmas we made it all the way to Pennsylvania from North Carolina before the transmission in our 2013 Ford Escape with 147,000 miles on it, bit the dust. There is absolutely nothing worse than being hours from home and without a vehicle that runs. We also have had previous bad experiences with car repairs in remote locations with backyard mechanics. We knew it was a transmission issue , so we went to this Aamco. The ratings and reviews were good and we had towing available to us to get it there. So considering that Christmas and Christmas Eve were in the middle of the week, it waa delivered to them on Monday and we were able to get it back Friday evening and drive home. I might add that although the cost of a transmission was a shock, the quote from a dealership would have made me leave it on the side of the road.

Our car broke down less than an hour into our vacation heading down to Virginia. Not an ideal start! We brought our car into Ken and the AAMCO team, and they were kind enough to take us on the spot. In just one hour, they found the cause of our leak and had us back on the road. They saved our car and our family vacation! I highly recommend this crew!Service: Oil change

Britt and I have had our cars/truck serviced by this company for more than 14 years. Our experience with Ken and Dominic has been, excellent service. We have never experienced inflated prices or dishonesty. Anytime we had our vehicles in for service, they found the problem and quoted a fair and reasonable price. Stong honest transmission shop. The guys at AAMCO Claymont had to fix my kias transmission. Although, it took a few weeks, the job was done right and I was in constant communication with the shop. All pricing options were given with the best option available for my cars situation. I was actually referred to this shop by my firestone Mechanic due to the good work they do here. No one likes expensive repair bills, but if they are necessary I would recommend this shop because they fix the problems and get your car working again.Service: Transmission

They took almost 3 days to diagnose a compressor problem. I price The part, its 3 hundred something bucks. They wanted to charge me close to $900 to do the job. GTFOH!!! Nice guys but I guess I'd be nice to if everyone who walks through the door is more than likely I'm going to double my $

Ken is the best, our family has used him and his team for a variety of work from engine installation to transmission rebuilds and custom work on a vintage corvette, these guys are that good! Service is excellent and they are beyond fair when it comes to pricing (let alone quality work). These guys deserve more than 5 stars! If you have an issue that no one else can resolve, take it to Ken!! He will get it done right and won't gouge you to do so!

I brought by 2016 ford focus there and they serviced it, they had to replace the whole transmission and it only had 87,000 miles on it. They were kind and very sympathetic towards me being without my car and we'll educated about what was wrong. I highly recommend them if you are having any transmission issues. This place is terrible and a rip off! I took my car there because it was grinding in first gear. After about a week of waiting i was told a deeper diagnosis was needed and it was no longer free it would cost me $185 which was to be rolled into total price if i chose to get service. Finally i was told i needed a new TCM (this is VERY SUPER RARELY the case with cars like mine) and i was not notified they d be outsourcing the work to the dealership. I was also told i needed new wiring and connector plate (not conductor plate which i found out was the actual problem and I d mentioned that about 3/4 times before work began). I was never told I'd be charged for re programming and felt swindled after price went from 1000 to 1400 to 2040 all within hours of each other! I finally got my car back almost 2 weeks later and im still having the same issue. Nothing they did (if they even did anything) helped and my original issue and what i came in for was NOT fixed! Im out $2100 and still am stuck at square one. I just hope they didn t f my car up even more. Wont know for a few days bc ive finally taken it to an honest mechanicService: Transmission

I have tried to be so patient with this repair shop and I have tried to be so professional, but at this point I am very disappointed and upset with their service. I originally came to Claymont Aamco in October 2020 to get a new transmission. Within 90 days of me having the care returned to me the original problem still existed. It is now August 2021 and they have had my car more than 5x for the same issue, they have kept my car for 1-2 weeks at a time and to date the issue still exist and currently they have had my car for approx. 9 days. Although the staff seem to be nice and professional, I am feeling like I have been given the run around and unfortunately I do not trust aamco brand, their mechanics or their word at this point. I am new to Delaware and thought I found a trusted mechanic that I could always call on, but apparently not. If I get my car back at this point and we still have the same problem I will be contacting a Consumer Attorney =(Services: Transmission, Auto engine diagnostic

Excellent service. Since finding this place, I trust no one else to diagnose and work on my vehicle. After moving away in 2007, I still travel the distance to have my vehicle serviced. With every oil change, my vehicle is completely checked over for any hidden problems or safety issues. No work is ever done without a complete understanding of the problem and my authorization to have repairs made. It is difficult to find the trust I have with this business. Nick is the best person to run the front desk, he listens and does everything possible to have any work done in a timely manner. Bob is a competent and thorough mechanic. He and his crew treat my vehicle as their own and will spot even the smallest of problems and I trust them if they tell me everything looks good. I recommend this business to everyone, in short, great customer service and excellent mechanics.

In March 2021 my godson and I were moving cross country when the transmission went out in our van. I am on medical treatments and had to be at our destination to continue my treatment schedule.The staff at the shop diagnosed the problem and sent the estimate to our Carsheild account. We spent a week or more jumping through hoops only for Carsheild to deny our claim. The staff assisted us in finding financing and I was told they stayed all night working on our van so I could still make my medical treatment as scheduled. This location corrected a problem which originated with a competitor in the same area. The vehicle broke down with an axle problem 5 months after having the axle replaced by Meineke. Meineke did not diagnose and solve the problem, and the vehicle malfunctioned again 150 yards after driving it off the lot--and broke down right in front of AAMCO. After returning to Meineke and not getting any satisfaction, I managed to get the car to AAMCO. Not only was the problem diagnosed, but was fixed in time to have the vehicle for the holiday weekend (Labor Day). Hats off to owner Ken Rickoski and his team. Good service, correct diagnosis, and excellent customer engagement. I will be returning here for future service.Service: Transmission

Have been to this Aamco only a few times but am very much impressed with Ken and the rest of the crew. Went in for brakes, which a mechanic at another location said I needed, but Ken's crew checked and told me I still had quite a bit of mileage left on the existing brakes. Didn't sell me something I didn't need. Nice to deal with honest people.

Brought my car there for water pump installation. Guy said 10 hour job had it for 24hours. Three whole days. Guy said I was being optimistic. Of course he was I mean what else could it be? My "Check Engine" light was on and I decided to have AAMCO check it since they advertise and offer a FREE check. I stopped by Sunday afternoon and discovered that they were closed. On Monday I stopped by on my way home from work, around 4:10 pm, thinking this would just be a FREE couple of minutes check. They would just plug in their code reader and bam then the sales pitch would start. I spoke with Nick, the manager, who suggested I leave the vehicle overnight and they would check it on Tuesday. For me this was not workable since I needed the vehicle for work. He asked how soon I could stop by on Tuesday and I said I could re-arrange my work schedule and be there by 3:30 pm. He said that would be fine since he would be expecting me. On Tuesday I arrived right on time and Nick was ready to have the FREE "Check Engine" service performed. This is where things came to a major slow down. Not only did they check the codes they also put the vehicle on a lift to do a thorough check because of the number of codes that were in error. Now, here's the real kicker; they suggested that more than likely the problems were covered under manufacturer's warranty and that I should pursue the issue with the dealer. What a pleasant experience!!!!!!! Kudos to Nick, Bob and Ken.

My car had its transmission rebuilt ay another Aamco located in Bear DE. They failed to properly repair it. I continued to have serious problems with my car when putting it in reverse. After taking it back twice to the original repair shop who failed to repair it I finally took my car to Ken at Aamco in Claymont DE.Ken quickly diagnosed my problem as an issue with the valve box and he got the original repair shop to fix the problem without any charge to me.If I ever have any other problems with my car I will definately bring it back to Ken at the Claymont DE Aamco. I had a wonderful experience at this business! I walked right in and was helped immediately. Before I brought my car to Aamco, I had someone else attempt to fix my car and they failed. Aamco quickly discovered the issue and fixed the problem. The service was great, quick and the staff was kind and very knowledgeable. Having little knowledge about cars and transmissions they made it easy for me to understand. I plan on coming here for my car service for now on! Extremely pleased and grateful for their help!

After leaving my son's car there for 3 days. They called up and said it was 2 motor mounts and 2 transmission mounts. And they said it was going to be over $1000. I then called my mechanic and said that is impossible. Never heard of themGoing all at once. After paying $135 for nothing. I took it to my mechanic and it was not that. This place is a rip off. They have no idea what they are doing. They had my son's car for over 3 days and still diagnosed it wrong. Nothing but a ripOff. Horrible.

Went here when my "Check Engine" light went on. They claim to be specialists. I had no clue what was going on. They replaced one part. Had me in and out in less than an hour and I spent less than expected. I think they were honest and didn't take advantage of me.

These guys were honest, MORE than fair in price, and were able to have multiple issues on my old car fixed the same day I dropped it off. Union Park Jaguar told me that I needed a new transmission which totaled $11,400 parts & labor. I decided to get a second opinion, and I am so glad I did!!! I only needed a small repair to the transmission, which only cost me $647. I'm so glad I didn't get rid of my car... My car runs like it's brand new! Lee & the other guys there were professional and patiently answered my questions. I will be back to have my car serviced, and highly recommend them to you!

Customer service was outstanding! I'm from Virginia and was visiting nearby relatives when my transmission had a major problem. I managed to get the car to the Claymont Aamco. Within less than an hour they had checked it out with the computer. Long story short, we had a difficult decision with no good options. The trans had been rebuilt less than two years,14,000 miles ago but was no longer under warranty. We tried to get our place to give us some kind of deal to fix the car, but nothing doing. Claymont Aamco was so helpful and gave us time to figure out what to do. We took 3 days and changed our minds many times, with no pressure at all from Aamco. Nick and whole staff were wonderful to me.They also have an arrangement with Enterprise and I got (what I consider) a great deal and once I decided to get the rental, Enterprise picked me up within 10 minutes. Awesome!

My wife s car had the transmission rebuilt at another Aamaco in Bear, Deleware. That experience was terrible. The transmission slipped and almost failed to engage in reverse. In frustration, she went here. Ken correctly diagnosed the issue and coordinated with the Bear Deleware Aamaco to have it repaired properly and returned to us, all at no charge. Ken was honest and efficient and we will definitely be returning here with any transmission issues in our vehicles.Service: Transmission

This review is 2 months overdue. From Boston we decided on an easy family road trip to DC with my wife and 3 boys. Bottom end of Jersey tnpk, lost tranny. Looked up transmission near me chose Aamco as they re regional to our area. Tom Norris (manager) and crew literally took care of us as part of their family.Within two hours the car was towed to them and they set up and drove us to rental co. We continued our vacation while aamco diagnosed problem. After giving options the next, we chose our best solution. Tom & guys executed.Arrived back two days later on our ride back to Boston. Handled transfer back to our car and rides back and forth to rental agency down the road.Not often you find great service like this now a days. I m sorry I forget tom s point person was but he was exceptional in helping us continue and end our trip.Hats of gentlemen,job well done! Again, we appreciate going from stranded on the lovely Jersey tnpk to being on our way.Thanks again ! Mark - Boston

Went here one time spent a ton of money asked them to remove a heat shield from my car because it was rattling and making a lot of noise.......they told me it wasn't the heat shield that I needed a new catalytic converter which would have been $800. Took it to an honest mechanic who said they lied it was just the heat shield and took it off for me. The mechanics here will lie to you. Be careful
