What a rip-off! I was quoted $170 on the phone for a oil change on a motorcycle. While I was waiting for it to be done I saw the mechanic talking to another mechanic for 15 minutes. Then he walked 100 yards to the main building went to the bathroom for another 10-12 minutes & then charged me for an extra 1.5 hours to put a plastic cover over the oil filter. They Charged me a total of $280 for an oil change ! I will never again go back there!!!

Always a great experience! Went for an emission test, no appointment is needed. Cash payment, the testing took 10 minutes.

I highly advise against leaving your vehicle at this shop. Not only is it excessively expensive, but my personal experience has been far from satisfactory. Despite considering myself a loyal customer, having visited this garage multiple times over the years for various services such as emissions, oil changes, and repairs, my recent encounters have been highly disappointing.During my last visit, following an oil change, an issue arose with the computer system in my car. Despite having completed the oil change, my vehicle's alert continued to indicate that an oil change was required. Upon contacting the shop, I was informed that it was merely a glitch in the computer/sensor and could be resolved. However, the problem persisted.More recently, due to a malfunctioning sunroof, I sought assistance from the shop. Given the inclement weather conditions, I needed the sunroof to be closed and my car to be diagnosed for repairs. I explicitly requested that no work be carried out without my consent, as I believe that would be a reasonable expectation. However, upon my return after two days, I was informed that an hour and a half of work had been performed without my authorization. The following morning, I returned to the shop, and the technician confirmed that the drains had been cleared, requiring one and a half hours of work, for which I was charged $150. I accepted this and understood that it was necessary. Unfortunately, the sunroof still couldn't be closed, and further repairs were needed. The technician informed me that they had ordered a motor and were prepared to proceed with the job. However, I wasn't prepared to spend $1200, as quoted. Given the ongoing inclement weather and the fact that my sunroof remained wide open, the technician kindly mentioned that they would wrap up the work, which I appreciated. To my dismay, when I went to pay, I discovered that an additional hundred dollars had been added to my bill. I was charged $265 for cleaning the drains and covering the sunroof with makeshift materials like a shower curtain, plastic, and cardboard held together with duct tape. At this point, my frustration reached a boiling point. Reluctantly, I paid the $265 and left the shop. As a customer who had frequented this establishment numerous times in the past, I felt extremely let down.Furthermore, despite their previous service, the shop failed to turn off the oil service required alert from the previous visit. This oversight only added to my disappointment. I have made the decision never to use Murray Brothers again. When I shared my experience with some locals, they all echoed the sentiment that it is unwise to seek any repairs from that shop due to their exorbitant prices.

The Murrays' always make you feel welcome. I go in for emissions checks as needed. Today I was in and out quickly. I paid in the front, drove around back. The gentleman did the testing while my mom waited in the car. I return next year because I was late, thank you CT.

Have always been treated very respectfully. The employees that do the emissions testing as well as everyone working at this business are super friendly, honest, good people (the state money making emissions scam! Expensive emissions parts make our vehicles break and do nothing to save the environment! I am very sorry to let those who believe the lies!) Anway, I do not want the point of this review to be taken away from this amazing repair garage! Myself as well as many others I know. I highly recommend Murray Brother garage as this is an excellent business and an awesome vintage repair facility.

All it took was a rubber valve stem to fix my tire, did it myself. Your mechanic insisted it was a cracked rim.

I absolutely recommend going here for any automotive needs. Honest, knowledgeable, fairly priced, and fast. Coming from someone who dreads even getting an oil change you can trust me.

Blew drive shaft and u joints and one yolk on my classic vehicle. Picked a local place with history, figuring they would make it right. They repaired with no phone calls until it was "done", two weeks later. I come to pick it up and they said they re-used my old driveshaft with a little wobble, yet the night before they said they replaced the driveshaft. They then mention that a seal broke where the yolk goes into the transmission but it's fine and not leaking but it keeps debris from going back into the transmission. Finally got it up to speed and there is very excessive wobble that wasn't there before both on acceleration and deceleration. The seal is leaking too. If you have someone pay labor and things are already apart why would you not confer with the customer and fix it right?

I can't say enough about this place - best garage around. Extremely fair prices and quality work. They have done work for me for several years now including fixing the wheel bearings and welding my boat trailer, replacing the clutch in my truck, and other jobs. They have gone the extra mile when doing these jobs by doing paint touch-ups and even fixed the shifter boot in my truck while doing the clutch job.If you want your equipment fixed correctly at fair prices, go to Murray BrothersServices: General repairs & maintenance, Transmission replacement

They usually do a good job but would be nice asking for my approval before doing $2900 in work. They never gave me an estimate, came in for an alignment and charged me $2900 for new brakes, rotors and calipers without asking.

Since Google does not allow a consumer to respond to a businesses reply, this is a follow up to my other review. This is a direct quote "Your pads still have about 2/3 of life on them but the brakes will pulsate a little when you stop." It's one thing to not fix my car correctly it's another to lie on Google reviews. 3 other mechanics told me that more than 95% of the time that code needs the full bearing replaced but somehow Murray Brothers did not know that.

I'm new to CT, and was unfamiliar with the emissions testing process. Finding reliable auto repair shops is challenging even when you're familiar with the area. I called Murray Brothers Garage, and had the whole emissions testing process explained to me. I was told to bring the car by at any time. I went to the office, paid the $20 fee, and was told to drive my car around back following the blue line. I waited 2 minutes for another customer to finish. Sam asked me to pull the car into the garage and leave it running while he ran the tests. I waited outside the garage for a few minutes. The car passed without any issues. Quick, painless process. Both Sam and the guy who helped me in the office were friendly and helpful. I will definitely be using this place for other automotive needs. Highly recommend.

Brought my Trailblazer in as the abs and traction control lights were on and brakes would pulsate at low speeds. They replaced the abs sensor which turned the lights off but now brakes pulsate worse than before. They told me when I picked it up that the brakes would kickback a little bit so they knew the problem wasn't solved. Turns out I need a new wheel bearing which will actually cost less than the $360 they charged and includes the sensor.Service: Auto brake repair

They are very personable, I have always been treated with respect and had all of my questions answered. Took my dodge truck to the dealer to have the brakes fixed and the dealer couldn't fix them. Took it to Murray brothers and had it fixed in one day. 50,000 miles later the brakes are still great. Oil changes are a bit pricey, but, I use synthetic oil in my truck so they should be as the oil itself is almost fifty bucks in the stores. I trust them with all of my cars and they have never let me down.

I had a great first experience at Murray Brothers. I needed my emissions tested, when I called I spoke to Bill and he said no problem, come on down. They took me right away, and Ron the gentleman who tested for me was someone I knew when I used to work at Litchfield Napa when he had his corn stand out front. I was in and out fast. It was good to see a familiar face checking out my car. Great experience. Everyone was very pleasant and I would definitely go back and recommend them to anyone local in the area or even farther if your willing to make the hike.

My husband and I have taken our cars to Murray Brothers several times, and, while they seem like very nice people, they are expensive. I also have found that things go wrong with my car after it is serviced there. This may be coincidence, but three times is the charm, and I won't be going back. This last time is typical of our previous interactions. I went to them in the morning for an emissions test (which I passed), and by evening my check-engine light was blinking. They diagnosed it as misfiring spark-plugs, and I was charged $482 to replace them. After picking my jaw up off the floor, I called around for estimates, and it turns out their price was in the ballpark, but by far the highest: even the local dealership quoted me $50 less. Adding insult to injury, after paying nearly $500, my steering wheel was filthy when I got my car back. After previous services I've come away with loose, rattling parts that have required a return trip. Are they awful? No. In fact, they are very personable, and I might like to have them as friends. But they are consistently expensive, and I hate coming away wondering about pricing or what might still go wrong.

I used them a few times while living in Bethlehem, as they have long had a stellar reputation in the local area, maybe even to the point of holding a local monopoly. I had a muffler replaced which did not match up with the pipe from the engine, requiring a custom-built connection. They called me to say, "the car is ready come pick it up". After leaving, I looked underneath and the two pipe ends were still a few inches away from each other with no connection at all. So basically, they couldn't be bothered to fix it any further, or when it got too time consuming, and they just said, "it's finished, come get it."! Another friend had major parts fall off when they pulled out, I believe their rear differential. Also one of their mechanics boasts about enjoying smoking pot right on their website, or used to. So I would say, they do know what they are doing, but they are so busy because so many people go to them that they just don't have time sometimes to bother to finish a more complicated job, and particularly with tightening bolts back up which they loosened to do the work. At least one of their mechanics is irresponsible, and they look the other way and chuckle up their sleeve at his little "oversights". Finally, they are so popular, that think they feel that they can afford to ignore some customers, because they will always have more. Of course, the ability to test your emissions is hardly an adequate way to rate a mechanic shop.

I recently relocated from NY to CT and needed an emission test on my car. I did a search online and found Murray Brothers Garage listed. I called and spoke with a very pleasant fellow named Bill who said just bring my car in the next morning which was a Saturday. Wow I love looking around in that garage with all the old photos and car "stuff". Quick service with a smile! I plan on having any future car work done there! I highly recommend them!Victoria

$90 for a simple oil change that could've used blended oil. Then, literally hours after my visit my brakes started grinding loudly and another mechanic had to replace my brake pads. The employees were nice enough. I would be interested to hear why the procedure was so expensive, or why I wasn't asked about options first.
