March 8th WORST experience at this DMV with Rich time to call these people out by name. Raising his voice at me like I am his to yell at ordering me away from his window .telling me he doesn t trust me . All Because I was missing a signature and I received verbal authority from the person to sign in his stead. I fully intend to file an official complaint with Wethersfield as that was uncalled for.

This DMV is so much better than any other! We live an hour away, but because we were able to get an appointment the same day to updateA title that we needed right away, we went to winsted. We have a dmv right next door, but it was almost 2 wks for an apt. When we got to winsted, we were in and out, less than 10 min. there were only 3 other ppl there! So we could have saved 2 hours of driving, but would likely have waited that long just getting thru the line of our local dmv.Also, I took my driver's test there 26 years ago and it was just as good back then.

Some old white lady that works in the registrations window has absolutely no idea how to do her job and has no idea about the rules of registering cars. She either is desperate for a vacation or needs to retire

This place has relatively quick service, and a very helpful and friendly staff! It's not a full service DMV, so I suggest checking the website before you visit to make sure that they can assist you.

HORRIBLE experience. Told we didn t have the appropriate invoice so we went back to get several documents and all proof as well as invoice and then we were told that we weren t on standby even though we were told to come back.We were then shouted at and called a Liar in front of the entire dmv by Carla.Apparently there has been issues with this woman before according to some local residents.We will be filing a complaint and reaching out to every avenue possible to file. This was unacceptable and unprofessional behavior.

They lie about their hours. Advertise they are open on Saturday till 12:30 pm. I am here at 11:30 on Saturday. No dice.

Had an 8am appt today, 1/16/24. Arrived 10 mins early, followed all instructions on DMV website. DMV clerk #6(f) insisted I didn't. I knew I did. She directed me to a back table. I tried to show her the insurance card, she refused. I had 2 license plates in a bag with the paperwork. I dropped the bag on the table, the plates clanked. DMV clerk # 6 bellows, "Why are you throwing things?" I didn't & she knows that.It was in that moment I thought, is she intentionally hassling me? A different DMV clerk/employee(f) bellows "imagine if something bad happened to her, she couldn't handle it"I thought, was I just threatened by a government employee?#6 Bellowed "you ll have to make another appointment."The one that may have threatened me ordered me to leave. I did, as I truly do not know if DMV (f)? was threatening me. It sounded threatening.I scheduled an appointment in Waterbury for today @ 9:50am. I headed right to Waterbury. I arrived 10 mins early. Waited 5 mins, explained what happened at Winsted. She double-checked my paperwork, and I did indeed have the correct paperwork.Winsted DMV employees #6 & (f)? either you're ignorant of your job, or this was intentional.Either way, thank you for showing me who I never want to become. Mean girls create chaos & drama that doesn't need to exist. To your co-workers, why do you accept it, or are you all like this?The ride to Waterbury in the snow was beautiful. You only threw me off my game for a bit. I recovered nicely. In fact, I leveled up! Thank you, DMV #6 &(f)?, I appreciate the lesson.

Needed to reg a new to me cause car. Most of the remote garages have stopped doing it. Went online found a reservation in an hour. Took 10 minutes, friendly knowledgeable staff.

I went to the winsted office. It is by appointment only, but check-in was fast and easy. My number was called within 5 min. The gentleman, Chris was professional and efficient. I was out in 15 min. I have to say, even though you have to schedule an appointment online, I like this smooth process vs the old wait forever routine. Was a good experience.

Making it by appointment only seems to make things go much smoother and faster which is great! Richard was very helpful and was able to get me in and out with no issue! Much appreciated

While this DMV branch is small and not crowded the staff are awful. Chris was rude to me the second I came to the counter. I explained what I needed and he asked me for paperwork. I asked him what of the many things I was required to bring that he wanted to see. Rather than answer me intelligently he again told me to show him my paperwork so I began taking everything out and giving it over. He continued to be rude. They would not let me transfer my registration, despite having every piece of paperwork required. He said I needed to get an additional paper from my former state to prove it was registered there, despite my having the registration paperwork. I asked what I was supposed to do or where to get the paperwork and he told me unkindly to contact the state. This is now my 4th time coming for this. It shouldn't be this hard. In my previous state this was taken care of in 2 days total. This has taken years and clearly the DMV has no intention of helping me resolve the issue. Very sad that this system is so broken and that the employees are so miserable and unkind and that behavior is accepted and allowed. I don't recommend coming here if you need actual help from knowledgeable workers.

Very easy experience. Nice DMV office, clean, and easy access. The customer service rep was a bit grumpy, but it's a tough gig. He did his job well and professionally, and I was in-and-out within 20 minutes.

The Connecticut DMV is a fairly organized system as far as state run departments are concerned! Their wait time is much shorter than most states and the employees are generally friendly! I must give them props!Massachusetts probably being the worst!

Definitely love the atmosphere and people. Carla was tremendously helpful and patient with me in helping me register my car. Would go out of my way to visit this dmv over my local one any day!

I think they are scheduling fewer appointments at a time, because there was NO WAIT today! Anywhere! The person who served me was polite and efficient. This was, however, my second appointment for the same simple transaction. I wish there was a way to screen my paperwork beforehand.

Made an appointment for my license renewal, showed up a few minutes early, and I was in and out of there in under 8 minutes. Never in my life has any visit to a DMV office, in any State (and I've hit CT, NY, and VA), gone as quickly and smoothly.My only complaint is that they put a picture of some really old guy on my new license. ;)

DMV is now by appointment only. They gave me wrong information about registering a new motor vehicle. After I waited 3 weeks for the next available appointment I was told my brand new motorcycle needed an emissions inspections (not true) and that they could not give me a temp tag to a far away inspection station and that I would have to have it delivered via a flatbed truck to and from that place then make a new appointment to get a registration. All total BS. What they really wanted was a VIN inspection. (I am told they could have done themselves).These people are a drag on our country and serve no useful purpose.

Well at least today it was fast and easy. I was able to get an appointment got there half and hr early but because of covid they let me in 15 min early, good right I was out of there just at the time of my appointment. Awesome. I know appointments can take time to get, just keep checking because sometimes people have to cancel and there you go, you got an early day for you...

DMV website needs to add that when you've gotten married, and need to change your name, to stop at social security first. It says nothing on website that you'll need proof of change with social security office. I had everything it does list, but that, and couldn't get my new license. So I'm putting it here for other girls in case they didn't know either.Loving the appointment setup though. That was awesome!

How can one give a good rating to DMV? Well, this one, I can. The wait was immense (but they always are) but the woman at the counter was amazing! She told me where I needed to go to get extra inspection on my vehicle, did not charge me twice, and told me that when I got back just walk right up to the window and not wait again. Wow! Did as instructed and the rest of it flew by. Worked with great staff that day!!

You have to make an appointment now on line, but it is very fast... no stress... folks who run the place seem a lot happier than when the place was filled with aggressive people. So it was a pleasant experience.

Worth the trip every time ! It's a ride , but we'll worth it . I set a record today. Possibly a state record . I was in and out with fresh plates and registration in 8 minutes ! Super pumped up .The folks up here are super nice and a real pleasure to see .

All DMVs are terrible, I will lead with that. Everyone was friendly and helpful, but the location is so understaffed it s crazy. I would have paid to expedite my process, thinking about the time I took off work and that it was wasted so terribly is aweful. I would do anything not to have that experience ever again. From walking in to walking out was 3 hours and 10 minutes, Crazy!!

The best experience I have ever had at a DMV! So organized!
