We love Hanks. The service is great, the food is great and the grounds and nice & clean. They take credit cards now. I had a caramel sundae. Yum. The kids enjoyed the swings

The only thing missing is the roller skating car hop. Excellent casual food and atmosphere. Open seasonally but always busy because there is a good menu, priced fairly and prepared well.Kid-friendliness: The outside tables and surrounding area are kept clean, there is ample space between tables so parents need not worry if they are bothering others. The menu is great for kids.

We had ice cream, but the other food looked great! Seafood, burgers and more! Friendly staff, nice property! Small arcade for kids, swings! Fun for families. Plenty of picnic tables, great 60 music! I can t wait to go back!!

Our family has been going here for years and have unfortunately noticed a change for the worse. For dinners and burgers the food is not as good as it once was, and portion sizes seem to have gotten smaller. We hadn t gone for ice cream yet until this weekend and am sad to say we most likely will not return. The large soft serve ice cream was so small it was more like a kiddie/small ice cream! And the small sundae was just about a kiddie size with a drop of ice cream and more whipped cream/fudge than anything. Extremely disappointing since we live close by and have always gone for after dinner ice cream with the kids. Seems the prices also went up for ice cream but yet the amount of ice cream you get went down, and by a lot. Definitely upsetting...

We bought ice cream here and it never disappoints. Haven't tried the food yet, but they have two separate lines for food and ice cream and sometimes depending on the line, they'll do both. My step son got a twist ice cream cone with a birthday cake dip and he loved it! Def recommend. 4 stars on service only because it can get backed up depending on how many people are present

I've been going to Hank's since 1983 and nothing has changed other than the color of the parrot where you order food (it needs to go back to the original blue bird with yellow saddle!) The food remains delicious, the servers are still friendly and excited to be there, and the atmosphere it still old school drive-in diner charm. There's so many more outside tables now which is awesome! While I live in California now, any time I'm back I go to Hank's for the fish and chips, small clam cakes, and small twist in a cone. I will never love fish and chips/clam cakes as much as I do these!

The good. Great setup, had our two grandchildren with us and got a picnic table adjacent to the swing set. That helped kill time while we were waiting for our order. Gave the feel of a 50s drive in.The ok. Had clam strips which were very average. Pretty standard, nothing spectacular. Had to load with tartar sauce (appeared to be store bought) to give them any flavor. Cole slaw was also pretty standard. The fries were crispy outside and soft inside and would give them an 8/10. Also had side order of fish which was also pretty average. It was lightly battered which was a bonus. Would probably return but probably try different menu items. It wasn t terrible mind you but have had better.

Been going there since the 70's with my parents,they are gone now but I'm keeping the tradition alive. These guys are the best and never had better soft serve anywhere!! Keep up the good work guys! Oh yea, their food is excellent as well!!

Friendly , Amazing and DELICIOUS! plenty of parking , picnic area , small game room for the kids. Stopped in on whim while working in the area, been eating here twice a week ! Can't get enough! From the friendly staff to the absolutely DELISH food at 1980s prices, to being able to bring my dogs for a cone anytime... this is my absolute favorite place to go after the dog park.Thank you Hanks

This used to be the best place in the area. The only place to get amazing clam cakes. Now, however, it's obvious there's been serious cost cutting measures. Clam cakes are ALWAYS over cooked and you're lucky to get a single tiny clam piece in one. Seriously, 95% of the whole order is just dough balls. And way too dark brown ones at that. They used to be perfectly golden with tons of clams...Lettuce which used to be tasty green romain is now pale shredded iceburg.Shakes are always great and service is always pleasant. I'll only be ordering icecream only from now on. Real shame. Been going here since I was a kid, probably 20 years or so. I've given several chances to redeem their food back to what it once was but I can't continue wasting money on overcooked dough balls that are a shell of what they used to be.

Tbh, I can't understand why this place had such good reviews for the food. The clam cakes we got were too salty, we ended up throwing it out. The burger and sandwich we got were okay; nothing special. Actually my burger was cold by the time I got home and we literally live down the street. And the curly fries that came with the mayor sandwich tasted just like the frozen Arby's curly fries we had in our freezer. Although the food wasn't good, the prices were cheap and the service was friendly enough. Overall, I'm glad we tried it but we probably won't be going back. It's too bad bc we really wanted to love the place since it always looks so busy.

My wife Introduced me to this local establishment.Great food, at a great price, with a super crew and with a positive mission. The mission statement is right up in your face to let you know who they are and what they believe in. Always clean and always satisfying without the fear of paying $100+ for a family of 6 to eat.The ONLY thing that I have noticed negatively the first few trips in the beginning of the summer was the flies in the order breezeway. But they made every effort to remedy the situation as by the evidence of fly traps now hanging as of our last visit there. Overall, extremely happy and worthy of 5 stars!

Amazing food, very good prices. Great local restaurant. They have alot of fun events in the summer, car shows, music, etc. Is a must go to if you are in the eastern CT areaKid-friendliness: Have a small entertainment and video game center with a few games for kids. They also have a swing set.

Two stars for the chowder. Not so much for the rest of what we had. Certainly have had better in many other places. I had a burger and fries with coleslaw. Look at the menu. Different prices for the same thing. Pay attention to what you are charged. They brag about their coleslaw. Nothing to brag about. Bland. I make better. The fries were ok. Burger King makes a better burger and fries. My husband was disappointed with the whole belly clams. Hardly any belly. Didn't get good quality. He said, "End of the run" "Market Price" was $29. Clam cakes were small. We don't mind paying money if you get the goods. We didn't get the goods. Not going back. There is no "Dine in" unless you mean a picnic table outside.
