Meineke Old Saybrook was the worst car repair experience ever. I brought a car in that needed a new muffler quickly before my daughter returned to college. They said they could get it done so I went ahead. The workmanship was so poor that the tailpipe was angled upwards and melted the bumper. When I brought it to their attention they said they would fix it. Their answer was a used bumper. The bumper they put on is black but the car is blue. I said that was not acceptable and spoke with the manager several times and the district manager. Now no one is returning my calls.

Customer Service Top Notch, thorough honest explanation of necessary work performed, courteous, professional and mechanically meticulous. Great communication as well. Kudos to Michael and his excellence and professionalism. We had our regular service and brakes done yesterday in a Kia dealer to prepare for a road trip. Were driving toward CT and started to hear a very weird noise coming from our front tire. We looked up in the internet called Meineken, which took us in swiftly and solved the problem. Lost bolts from the repair the day before could have costed us our lives. Michael did not even charge us, he said, I didn t do anything, I only gave you two bolts I said, you did much more than that, sir!Service: Brake service & repair

Pretty annoying to show up for my oil change appointment today at the time I have had scheduled since yesterday only to be turned away and told that the shop "never checks online", despite their appointment scheduler that has worked without fail for my past three oil changes, despite my phone call to the shop today regarding the estimated cost of my appointment today, and despite the text confirmation I received.Very disappointing to take time from my day to be be turned away at the door because either 1. someone didn't think to look online, or more likely 2. Meineike has a defunct website that misleads customers, leaving their employees to deal with things like this.All that being said, the woman at the desk was friendly as she always is when I go in there. Just wish my appointment had been honored

I had a tire that AAA put on way to tight, ONE TIRE. Other three were a breeze, did them myself. But the fourth? AAA screwed me. Chris got me in with no notice. Anthony and Chris spent the entire day cutting and torching the rim to get it off. Anthony worked harder than anyone I ve seen and tackled a problem neither he nor Chris had ever seen before. They took care of me 100%. Chris went for a test drive after to make sure the new tire and rim were safe. They treated me like family and were just as invested in my Jeep as I am. I would recommend this shop to anyone. Your problem can not be as bad as mine and they will take care of you.Service: Tires

The damage my brakes sustained from the hack job Meineke did not only cost me hundreds of dollars but almost cost me my life. In early April I casually stopped into this place for brake work as I was visiting family and was not familiar with the area. 3 1/2 months later one of my outer bearings is completely unrecognizable due to incompetent and negligent installation. I have attached a picture of what a normal bearing looks like and what my bearing looked like after 104 days of use after being installed by this place. I had to pull off the road frantically after losing partial control of my steering. The sound coming from my front right wheel was terrible as well as the sensation it gave throughout the rest of the vehicle due to its malfunction. My rotor/bearings were frozen. Had this happened 20 seconds earlier while I was on the highway I could've been killed. My truck was undriveable and had to be towed. The independent mechanic who I took it to, who is a very well respected member of our community, said the bearings were improperly installed. The boys at this shop said the problem was caused by a defective part and they were not at fault. Time after time, this shop kept stringing me along with promises of taking action to help me but never following through. They said they would call my mechanic to see what he said. They never did, and refused to do so. They said they would call me back to update me on the resolution of this incident. They never did. They said that they would have a parts representative look at the components in question to arrive at a fair compensation. That never happened. They also would not let me talk to the owner. The only time I heard from them is when I called them. I urge you to stay away from this place. They do not care about decent customer service or good business practices and they will lie in order to save themselves.The attached photo shows what a normal bearing should look like, on the right, and what my bearing looked like 3 months after Ryan Kilbride installed it, on the left.

It was a great experience. The manager, I think his name is Marc, was really helpful and very personable. He made me feel at ease right away. I was very comfortable going to This shop. Sometimes I feel a bit out of my element going to car repair places (I m 73) but Marc made me feel comfortable right away. I will definitely be going back for any work my 23 year old car needs. Also it cost a lot less than I expected which was a blessing.Service: Oil change

Mark, Michelle, and the other employees are knowledgeable, friendly, professional, fairly priced, and the list goes on. Best car repair shop I have gone to in years. Will definitely be coming back and recommending to friends and family! And what's better?? After breaking down on the highway, AAA gave me tow here.What always is a stressful situation was helped by having everything explained to me in a manor I could understand.They ordered the parts and had it all repaired in a couple of hours, allowing me to finally get home to by family after being away for the weekend.Services: Air & cabin filter replacement, Auto engine diagnostic, Wiper blade installation, Battery, Oil change

This is a great review, I ve had Chris as this location work on me and my girlfriends car over 10 times.. This is not one of those one time service reviews. This location is CONSISTENTLY great. I very rarely leave reviews because 99% of the time the service you get isn t worth leaving a review for however, this is an exception. Chris the guy runs this place is outstanding, he only does what your car requires, the prices are much better than I ve found elsewhere. He works a lot, has a great family he cares for and he has a great personality. My #1 favorite thing though is that he doesn t up sell anyone on stuff they don t need and he gets the work done very fast, usually the same day for quick jobs. I can t say enough good things. I do most of my own car repairs, and most of the time I would much rather have Chris and his guys do the work instead.Services: Exhaust, General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine tuning, Engine repair, Brakes, Oil change

Marc was so professional, helpful and personable! I called first and he told me I could come right in, no problem. Then when I got there he listened to my concerns, set my mind at ease and took care of my car. The most honest mechanic in all the adjacent towns. He invited me to look at my car after he took the tires off to show exactly what was going on with the brake system, and he was 100% upfront with the costs, applying every discount Meineke had to help me. He even did a free tire rotation and also fixed a pending flat for free (screw in tire from the hardware store, glad he caught that!). The next time I need any sort of maintenance, I am going here.Service: Brake service & repair

Scheduled an appointment in advance. Arrived on time. Was told that I would I have to wait several hours for my scheduled oil change. I never received a call from them to notify me that they were backed up. If you are looking for a place where scheduling appointments means absolutely nothing, look no further. I left multiple points of contact when I booked apparently for no reason. These guys will think nothing of wasting your time.Decided to try this location one more time after hearing about new ownership. Very unfriendly staff. Got oil change package, which should have came with tire check and rotation, but zero work was done to the tires. DO NOT GO HERE!

I needed an oil change, but my regular place was booked. Looked online for a place nearby and found this place. Set an oil change appointment online an hour before going, and got in one hour after they opened. They had a great coupon available. Typical, no frills waiting room. Had me out within 30 minutes. Only hitch was when the cashier assumed it needed 6.8 quarts, which was $8 more. Be aware that just because it says there is a time slot available, call ahead just to verify. The cashier says the slots aren't saved in real time, so there can be issues with double- booking.

We were driving from Mass to NJ and we lost our tire on 95. We had our car towed to their shop 30 minutes before they closed. These guys tried to find the parts we needed so we could immediately be on our way. When they learned they wouldn t be able to get the parts until the next morning they helped us find a hotel room down the road. They drove us to and from the hotel and had the car ready the next morning. They even gave us a break on the bill. They went above and beyond! Thanks to Matt and his coworker! You guys were great.

Called ahead, told me they were available to fix a flat tire, I arrived and they got to work right away! Everything was fixed in less than 15 minutes and for free. Absolutely the best customer service. Kudos to Matt, nice work.

Went here to have a new exhaust system for my Volvo XC70. The district manager, Don, and mechanics were very polite and explained what needed to be done by showing me exactly what work was needed and giving me clear options. I was surprised how quickly they completed the work and am happy with the results. I also like the lifetime guarantee which gives me the peace of mind that I can have the system fixed again for free if there is trouble. Waiting room could be updated a bit, otherwise great. Thanks!

I found their service to be exceptional and their ability to diagnose and repair the problems to be remarkable. First I would like to thank Chris and his partner (sorry not good with names) for helping me and my family getting back to NY. My car was overheating they changed my thermostat and then my transmission line was cracked and replaced that as well(great job on transmission line). They took care of my family in a professional manner ,while we waited and are very kind and they all have good hearts. Thanks for getting us home guys and keep up the good work!Thank you!
