In December I mistakenly added too much Lucas Upper Cylinder Solution in my car, resulting in it refusing to drive. The next day I called Smitty's to get an idea/estimate of what the job would be. Now, almost 4 months later I m still experiencing problems, new problems since my car left their shop. I was mainly dealing with Billy when it came to when my car would be checked, fixed, etc. initially I thought my gas tank just had to be cleaned out. After having my car sit in the lot for 4 days w/o being checked, when they finally told me what was going on, I was confused and asked Billy to explain further, especially the estimation and how the numbers came about, and he told me if I know you were going to be this difficult we wouldn t have taken the job and every conversation after that, I was met with a condescending, sarcastic tone from Billy and honestly I was shocked and disgusted that I was dealt with in that manner, especially since all I was trying to get was more info. Remorsefully, I let that go, and still decided to go with Smitty s to rectify my car. I was told that my whole fuel pump, fuel tank, and fuel injector that had to be replaced a job estimated to $1,086, 4.5 hours of labor. I didn t have the money at the time to get it fixed so I was out of a car for 3 months. This past Wednesday 3/27 I dropped my car off to get fixed, and Friday 3/29 my car was back in my possession. They fixed my fuel pump, tank and injector as well as installed a new auxiliary battery in my car; the first few days my car was driving perfect. Tuesday 4/2 after 4 days of having my car back, the SECOND time I put gas in my car (Exxon, 93), immediately after leaving the station my car starts lagging: I would press the gas pedal it ll hesitate to pull off, my electronics would glitch and my car ended cutting off on me at 4 red lights near SoNo Mall. Once I pulled over into a safe place I tried to start my car (push start) and it was refusing to turn over until the last second, then it would start and then cut off after a minute of two. I brought my car back to Smitty s Wed. 4/3 just for them to tell me yesterday 4/5 that they can t fix it. They told me that they test drove the car and was experiencing the same as I did that Tuesday and the ONLY thing they can come up with was that my Start/Stop feature was getting in the way of the car s functioning resulting in the car cutting off, so they requested for me to just not drive with the system engaged then, I was told that I was going to be charged a half hours labor ($79) for the guys spending so much time with your car. Which, I paid because when I got to the shop last night 4/5 I was told to either pay the labor or my car has to sit in the lot. My main problem with that is 1. I didn t even have my car for a whole week before it cut off on me, so this should have just been free and 2. They didn t actually fix anything on my car! What they requested for me to do was something I already tried and wasn t working initially: driving without the Start/Stop system engaged. So, basically, if I happen to forget to disengage the system, there s a possibility my car can shut off again! And now I m pissed bc I was forced to pay $79 for them to not rectify the situation & do their job! On top of that, when I received my car last night, my check engine light was still on from Tuesday, when it cut off in me. And now, my back up camera is glitching, every time I reverse the screen would glitch and eventually turn into a blue screen, which has never happened before. I just called Smitty s this morning 4/6 to inform them of the new problem just to be met with them basically telling me I have to go to the jeep dealership because they don t have the equipment to fix anything regarding my auxiliary battery, meaning I have to spend a lot more money to get my car fixed. My car is drivable but the whole process has been a headache.Update: my car cut off AGAIN! 4/7 @12AM after putting gas in it, AGAIN!

Had a great experience with Smitty s. We were driving from New Jersey and had to be at a wedding in Boston last Friday night. Cruising along at 65 mph on the Merritt Parkway when the yellow check engine light came on and the car suddenly lost most of its power. I immediately got off at the next exit which was Norwalk Connecticut. Did a search for local service centers and Smitty s seemed to be the closest. Without an appointment, I drove up and one of the owners had one of his mechanics come out and put the car on a scope to diagnose it. It turned out to be a misfiring cylinder. The mechanic ordered the necessary parts from a parts dealer who apparently was very close. Within one hour I was back on the road. Dropping the work that he was doing in order to help me out went above and beyond and I am truly thankful for that. I consider it one of the luckiest days in my life!

I brought my wife's car in this morning for headlight upgrade and coolant flush and replace. The service was excellent beginning with Billy who wrote the service up.he was very nice and helpful. The car was done at the promised time and they were very fair and honest. I can't say enough nice things about the business

went to have my a/c serviced on my truck they found a bad compressor and also had it replace the. serpentine belt.which I had no problem with but when I got the bill they charged me $100 per pound for refrigerant which being in the a/c and heating industry I know a 30 pound drum costs roughly $300 so that one drum they re charging $3,000 for so I called the dealer which is H&L Chevy and asked them what they charged per pound for refrigerant and they said $40 per pound for 134a so half of what smitty s charged and that s a certified dealership needless to say I won t be back not even to buy gas which I did frequently it s not right to take advantage of customers especially ones that have going there for service and gas for a long time they did fix the problem though just don t like getting taken advantage of beware before you get your a/c recharged here

I ve had my car serviced here multiple times, and I m always happy with their work. They are quick, usually have availability with 24 hours and will call you if they find any other issues or recommendations. They are not pushy, when I went for my last oil change they asked if I wanted to rotate the tires and change they air filter while it was on the lift. After the service they let me know that my front brakes are starting to get low and to consider changing them next oil change. They also had an itemized quote already printed. Again, not pushy, and it was nice knowing they are looking out for me.

The only reason I'm giving two stars is because at least they answer the phone. I brought my car to Smitty's to have them install a new battery tie down, replace my car's horn and service the brakes because the ones in the front were low and wearing unevenly. I got my car back and went to get it inspected (it's registered in New York) and it couldn't pass the safety inspection because a light was out and one of the brakes they JUST SERVICED was locked because something was wrong with either the caliper or brake line. I was told by the other place that they should have checked them when the brakes were serviced. I took my car back to Smitty's with the tire now smoking for them to fix since they didn't do their job correctly. They then replaced both the caliper and brake line, not telling me which was causing the issue, claimed to have fixed the light, and charged me full price for the job that should have been done the week before and put me in danger. I was willing to let it go until I brought it back to the place to be inspected only to find out that they never fixed the light, they just replaced the bulb and called it good enough. The other shop in New York was nice enough to fix what they didn't and only charge a portion of labor to replace the ground wire that was bad. I will never take my car back to a place that cuts corners and puts me in danger due to their carelessness.

Smitty s is a great place to get your car service! I had a good experience from scheduling my appointment and dropping off and picking up. The wait for the car repairs was a good turnaround. Brought my 2001 Jeep in for service. They checked the entire suspension and drive train, diagnosed the issue, made the repair, gave suggestions of upcoming repairs and had my vehicle back to me quickly. No BS, competent, affordable and straight talking business. Best auto service experience I have had in a long time. They were recommended to me by a friend, I recommend to get this business in your contact list! Thank you Smitty'sUpdate:A couple weeks ago I brought the same Jeep back in for a check engine light, front brakes, rear suspension, and electric fan repair. The shop called me back, gave me an estimate for each repair, and gave me the opportunity to have all or some of the work done. I had all the work done and was more than satisfied with the job. Again, straight talk and affordable quality repair. Thank you again!

The crew here is outstanding. They diagnose and accurately perform the needed repairs with absolutely fair rates. I have a 2008 jeep with over 220k on it, yet it runs like new with the care they give it! Smitty s is the best of the best!

Brought my truck here with tightness in the steering wheel and to have air conditioning fixed. I Asked them to vacuum the lines and refill with AC. The AC worked for two weeks and now has stopped. They charged me for UV dye and apparently there were leaks but were not addressed. They gave me a rack and pinion for my tight steering and it did not solve it. Now my power steering fluid is leaking too. Called my usual mechanic about the tight steering. Turns out a little lube on the u-joints in the steering column made it five times better. I cannot recommend anyone go here. However with a lack of solid mechanics around, at least they changed parts correctly and things worked for a little while.Update: turns out the power steering rack they put in is leaking. So that's another $800 expense.

Can only describe customer service. A potential buyer of my car asked me to have Smitty's look at it; no problem. Also I'm fairly new to the area and have been looking for a shop I can trust - maybe a win-win? Called and asked for D, who the buyer said he'd been working with. After being bounced around a couple times, D came on the line. Maybe he was having a bad day or had been called away from a tough job, but "unprofessional" doesn't describe it. Right off the bat rude, defensive, aggressive... "I didn't talk to him, must have been the front office but go ahead." I started asking about my make car since I'd had to disconnect the battery and wanted to make sure I'd driven it enough so they'd get accurate codes etc. "I've been working here since I was fifteen." Not what I asked... "I can see where THIS is going! You have to get here right at the set time." That won't work with my work schedule, I'll need to drop off at night or early morning, and he cut me off. "I get here at 4 am, I don't know who told you I don't but you'll have to call your buyer and make other arrangements." And he slammed the phone down. Personally I don't care about this derailing the sale - I have other leads and am on the fence about selling the car anyway. Guess I keep looking for a shop I can trust, though...

My family and I are lifetime costumers of Smitty s Service Center. They have the best service in Norwalk and the staff are friendly, trustworthy, and welcoming. They always do the best job! Good work. I have 2 cars with 160,000 and 100,000+. They are great at maintenance but more importantly when I need a repair they are HONEST. If i have a loose belt it's a no charge. They schedule cars so that repairs are done same day! Pricing is always fair.

I don't usually write reviews but Smitty's customer service and friendly attitude is extraordinary. I was also pleasantly surprised by how fast they fixed my tire and change the wheel at a reasonable price. Highly recommended.

These guys are great and truly honest! I decided to give smittys a shot after dealing with a very overpriced mechanic in the neighborhood. I had them install a new ac compressor in my jeep. Not only was the job done sooner then expected but I was also charged less then originaly quoted. Hard to find honest mechanics. Glad I did and I will be going back for any future repairs!

We have had a few good experiences here before, but the job they did for us this past Aug. was definitely not one of them - they charged us for a new battery that they 'forgot to install' (their words), and they broke our hood latch when they replaced the radiator - returning it to us that way. We had to slowly drive it back to them to fix, at which point one of their young staff told me , "It should be OK" for a local trip we had been planning to take that day. I beg to differ as a a hood flipping up through the windshield at 70 mph on the highway killing us all would not be not OK by anyone's standards. We had to leave it again to have them fix what they broke, and when they did fix it, it was just fixed with zip ties and not actual screws like had been there before. Sadly, after all of this there didn't seem to be any remorse on their part for having returned our car to us with broken parts that they were responsible for, or regard for the inconvenience we we're put through for the subpar job.

Responded very quickly when I had a car breakdown. They literally were able to get from their shop to my car in under five minutes. They were professional, kind, and helped diagnose and fix a problem I had with my car, and also point out two additional issues that warranted attention [two corroded wires...which they only charged $7.50 to fix and replace]. Top notch

Not the friendliest crew, but who cares. They diagnosed and fixed my car in less than 3 hours at half the price my dealership quoted me. Would recommend this place to anyone to get their vehicle repaired.

They repaired my vehicle. The item they installed failed not ten miles down the road. I had to pay out of pocket to tow back and they wanted to charge me "problem solving" time to fix the install.

All Service - All the time! These are our CAR GUYS... the one where you come in and try to make the sound your car is making and they diaganose extremely accurately everytime! Fair- Honest - Reputable - Clean - Quick.... they are the total car package!They have kept 2 of my cars runnign well over 100K miles. A Norwalk Treasure!
