Last week before I went to work I stopped at the gas station on Main Avenue to purchase a bottle of water, when I got back in my car, my battery was dead. I walked over to AAMCO and asked the nice lady at the front desk if someone could help me. She said the owner Steve should be arriving any minute. A few minutes later, when Steve arrived he gladly walked over with me to the gas station and jump-started my car! I asked him what I owed him, and he said "Not a thing, it was free". I'm sure Steve had a busy day ahead of him, but he didn't hesitate to help me out. I will definitely be going back to AAMCO if I should have any other needs for my car, and I recommend you do too! :)

I ve been a loyal customer at AAMCO in Norwalk for years, mainly due to Steve s honesty and expertise. Steve has consistently provided amazing service, and I trust him implicitly with my car. His integrity shone through when my father-in-law brought his car in a few days ago; Steve honestly assessed it and advised that no repairs were needed, contrary to a different place s recommendations. AAMCO and Steve s transparency make it a trustworthy choice for automotive needs. Thank you, Steve!

How do I start.. Every time I walked into a car mechanic shop, something or other gets fixed / changed. My car had a noise while accelerating and I asked my friend for a suggestion and he suggested AAMCO. I took the car to AAMCO and what do I say, This is the first time in my car owning experience that I walked into a car mechanic shop and the owner tells me he will not do the job as he doesn't feel the car needs anything at this time. I asked him twice as I couldn't believe my ears. Steve even went all the way explaining why he doesn't feel the job needs to be done. He was extremely polite and kind of behaved like a friend - even though I met him the first time. He went beyond what I asked him and checked all the fluid levels and said car is in good condition and moved onto the next car. He helped me today, earned my trust and a loyal customer in me.. Thank you very much Steve.Service: Transmission

I would actually give this review 3 and a half stars. I took my car in on July 24th to have my A/C repaired. When I picked it up, it took longer than usual for the air to cool and the air was cool off and on. I took the car back in on August 8th and wasn t charged a penny since the repair bill was under warranty. After waiting all morning for the repair I was told that the car was ready and I discovered that the air coming out was warmer than it was when I brought the car in and it caused me deep concern. When I took a walk back to the place, the owner, Steve took it for a test run and by miracle, the A/C was finally working again and I didn t have to rent a car after all. I only think the guys working on the cars need to improve on making sure the car is ready before telling Clara and Steve leading them to telling the customer that it s ready. Overall it is good customer service.

Staff was polite and professional. They were able to tow our car and gave us a reasonable price to replace transmission compared to other shops. Thank you

I (and my family) have been a loyal customer for several years and a few cars worth. I implicitly trust Steve & Clara. How many mechanics do you know who will tell you that service or an issue is not enough to be worked on? He will. He will advise you as if it were his own money and car being involved. I am a client for life.

Needed an entirely new brake system on our 4Runner (pads, calipers, rotors). We are fairly new to CT and not familiar with the auto shops in the area. Did some research on Yelp and Google and decided on AAMCO because of the reviews and my experience at other locations. Claire could not have been nicer to us and was extremely helpful in the process from estimation, contact during the repair, and follow up. Pricing was fair compared to other shops and less than the dealership. They also worked on the AC on the vehicle and wanted us to come back so they could check for leaks!Fair pricing, exceptional service, timely repair. I will continue to bring my repair work to AAMCO Norwalk!

Wanted to share a not so great experience at AAMCO Norwalk. Upon recommendation, Brought car in for oil change and brakes . All the people I dealt with were very friendly, however, total RIP OFF. Quoted $120 for an oil change for my Honda crv . I thought this was high but I was there and needed it so I agreed. Was then told I needed a cabin filter. Was told it was $20, I agreed. Price quoted for brakes (and both rotors ) was also high so I declined that. When I went to pay I was charged over $220!!!! When asked why, I was told there was a $50ish dollar LABOR FEE to install the cabin filter. INSANE. while the people were friendly, their practice is dishonest and expensive. (And not to mention when I brought my car elsewhere for brakes- I didn t need rear rotors). Bc the people were nice enough I gave two stars instead one one

Thank you for a very professional experience. Clara was great and up front about the cost for the clutch replacement. Courtesy tow to get car to the shop was a real plus. Work completed within a day. Thank you.

I have to say that Aamco Norwalk is the most professional auto repair group I have ever had the pleasure of working with. My son's jeep had an issue with the clutch. Our regular mechanic in Ridgefield said we needed a new transmission and it would be around $5,000 to fix which I didn't agree with thinking it was just the clutch. Did some research online and came across Aamco in Norwalk. Read the reviews which are great and spoke with Clara and Stephen. Had my car towed to them they diagnosed the problem which was the clutch and flywheel gave me a quote and fixed it in one day. Pricing was more than fair and the quality of work is second to none. So happy I found Aamco Norwalk and when I need service again they will be the first place I call.Service: Transmission

Over the years I brought half a dozen cars here and the service was always phenomenal. I almost didn't write a review just to keep them to myself when needed. They diagnosed issues on the spot that many other shops, including actual dealerships couldn't figure out for weeks. Their prices are always upfront and competitive enough I had many other shops quote me same repair prices but with Used parts when Aamco was gonna put in new parts. Friendly staff, no problems to get anyone on the phone. Work on any vehicle. I myself brought them American muscle, european sport cars, construction vans and things in between with both mechanical and difficult electrical issues. Having tried a dozen other shops large and small i found none to stand close to these guys on every level of technical and personal experience.

This place was recommended to me.I needed front and rear brake pads (no rotors) and an air filter. They wanted to charge me over $1,600 dollars.I went to three different mechanics since and every single one of them BELLY LAUGHED when I told them how much they wanted. They claimed it s because it s a new car a 2018 KIA. Doubt it.Got it all done for $250. Avoid this place

Steve Grandinetti is a knowledgeable mechanic and pleasant gentleman. Our Jeep Patriot 2010 died on us as our family was returning from New York City to Newport VT (actually just across the border in Canada). We stop for gas and wanted to have lunch but the car would not restart. We though it was the battery and I walke to AAMCO. Steve swa I was nervous and stopped what he was doing and came with a booster. However he smelled electric fire and mentioned that if it was the starter we would have to stay overnight to get parts and repaired done. He advised we go for lunch and when we came back, he confirmed it was the starter, but he had the car running. He told us to go home straight without stopping the car. We made it safely across the border and were home by 10pm. We really appreciated his superb performance, his calm and the special time he took to understand our situation. Well we owe you one Steve and funny to say, I hope to meet you again some day. If you come around, I will take you flying over beautiful New England.Alain, Valerie and Tya.Services: Electrical, Battery

My Escalade happened to break down on Christmas Eve in Westport, CT. I immediately suspected transmission issues. I had the car towed the following day to AAMCO in Norwalk where I was immediately called by Clara to give me the diagnosis. She was very polite and forthcoming; explaining everything that the car needed to get it back to operating normal again. I gave her the go ahead to start the job. Within a couple of days, the car was ready to be picked up. They did however warn me that on a transmission rebuild, because these cars are highly complicated with electronics that help run the transmission, it s quite possible to have to bring the car back for a couple of tweaks that they would take care of. The business owner STEVE is a very reputable individual. I actually had to take my car back to him a couple of times for tweaks and each and every time he accommodated me immediately. He even went out of his way to drop me off at the train station to save me the cost of an Uber ride. It s rare today to deal with honorable people. AAMCO in Norwalk is an extremely reputable business. They stand behind their work. I would go back to them in a heartbeat. I highly recommend this business to anyone in need of a transmission repair or replacement.Service: Transmission

Honest, helpful, and human--rare traits these days!!!I was passing through town on business when I began experiencing car trouble. Stopping at a service station, they told me to go here, and I can see why.Steve was able to identify the problem quickly and get me back on my way. I don't live in Norwalk, but I might drive back here next time I need anything--well worth the trip!!!Service: Auto engine diagnostic

Steve and his staff are great. First mechanic shop where they are customer friendly staff all around. I was going through a rough time finding anyone willing to do the research on a part for my car he went above and beyond. Great communication between the shop and myself the customer. Need your car fixed speak to Steve and his staff straight up type of place. No wasting time or trying to milk your wallet.

I've been going there for just over a year and I'm yet to regret it. Steve is such a gentleman and is quite transparent with everything. Clara is also on point and amazing to deal with. I have also had great customer service from whomever answers the phone or is at front desk. Their work is phenomenal and despite the fact that it's a little further and the labor a little more expensive than my former mechanic-the results are definitely worth it. I would reccomend them any day to anyone. So give them a call and make an appointment - you also shall not regret it!

I made an appointment on the AAMCO website for 8am on Weds May 12th, which by the way was very easy to set up. I arrived at 8am and was greeted by Clara, who was very friendly and professional, she made me feel very welcome. She said one of the techs would look at my brakes and let me know if replacement was needed, within 15 mins she had said that the front brakes needed front pads and rotor disks and the car would be ready at 1pm. She also said that back brakes etc were not needed that they were in good shape. I met Steve during all this and he also was professional, and great personality. Around 11 am I received a call from Clara saying my car was ready. Let me tell you this is my go to place for any further repairs needed for my car, I appreciated the honest, professionalism from AAMCO in Norwalk. Thank you Clara, Steve and the AAMCO techsService: Brakes

Went to AAMCO following a local mechanic's recommendation to have Steve take a look at my alternator. Steve was courteous, shook my hand immediately and introduced himself, then quickly analyzed if my alternator was charging correctly. The alternator was fine and there was no charge for his time or hassle. Saved me hundreds and I'll definitely be going back for any repair issues needed in the future. Highly Recommend.

I've been bringing all of our family cars to Steve and Clara for years. Very satisfied with customer service and a well done job. They always take the time to explain what I need and how much it will be. Very trustworthy and honest. I've recommended lots of friends and everyone loves the friendly attitude and great service. We'll keep coming back !!

Outstanding experience! Clara was delightful. She took care of me over the phone and in person and was the most knowledgable car repair customer service person I've ever interacted. Steve was a seasoned pro, very professional and came highly recommended from a competitor of theirs who couldn't solve my A/C problem (!) Pricing was extremely fair, transparent, and quote and repair turnaround time was QUICK.

Read the reviews before calling this business to verify they could even repair my transmission, spoke with the owner Steve he stated absolutely they could resolve my issue, very positive first conversation, so I dropped my car off. I allowed a few weeks to go by wasn't really in a hurry but figured I would call in to get a status, they said they would call me back, later that afternoon they called and quoted a price for water pump, cap/rotor, plus wires etc. and oh! I need a transmission too, I said; I brought the car in for a transmission repair why the other items, she said we're an all inclusive repair shop and gave me the high number, I told her the car had a new engine less than 150 miles ago, all the parts were replaced then lets focus on the transmission, she adjusted the quote and I agreed to have them fix the car, I gave them what they wanted up front. Sadly 7 weeks later and several disappointing calls, I elected to move this repair to another repair shop, but of course they charged me for no repair, perhaps diagnostics or in my case storage, but sadly I did not experience the happy resolve that so many others have had? I will say the other repair shop had my vehicle fixed in 6 business days and less money they were awesome! Not saying they're are bad people just wish they had delivered more effort.I just read Steve's response from 10 Months ago, if they really wanted to Quote: "we'll get this straightened out" they would have simply called me, they have my contact information in there system. I stand steady on this review...Service: Transmission
