I was in the area working yesterday and my van was overdue for an oil change. I was in and out fairly quickly. The staff was friendly and understood my needs - get the oil change and get in and out quickly. Rob is a true professional with a great attitude.Bottom line... I am happy I chose to stop at this Valvoline to get my oil changed.Also, people who know, use Valvoline! Facts...Service: Oil change

I waited nearly 90 minutes, with very little communication from them, before getting my oil changed. Overall the oil change was normal and quick, but the long wait, where I was stuck with cars behind me, was infuriating and I was kept out of the loop

Stellar service by Shane and Rob at this super convenient location right off the Merritt Parkway! I ve been there several times now and had to share my experience because they are so amazing! Everyone is so nice and welcoming and helpful. They helped me with oil change and also even to fix my undercarriage skid plate on my car! Great professional atmosphere and attention to detail and make you feel like you have known them forever! Vibe and energy on point! Suggested great things for improving the performance and longevity for my vehicle. I had them do some additional gas cleansing additive that was very cost effective and changed air filters. They care about your tires and over all well being and safety. This is my go to location in Connecticut now! In line 40 minutes still have not moved and the staff is standing around not doing anything to put traffic in right lane. Have seen 4 cars turn around and leave while these guys are drinking Gatorade. No manager apparently on staff. Rip off. You wait in crazy bumper cart arrangement in parking lot until employee decides to play traffic cop. After 30 minute wait in line and in your car you pull in the garage as directed. I ask for best full synthetic oil and best filter and they place a sticker on your windshield to come back in 3 months or 3,000 miles. I wonder if I asked for the basic oil change I probably be B.S. to come back in 30 days or less. Spend over $100 and the dealer I usually go to is cheaper and suggest 5,000 or 6 months for the best oil change. I called and Valolines blames the MFG. Not themselves. RIP OFF ARTIST

Listen to what happened to us after a routine oil change at this Valvoline branch and decide for yourself if you want to subject yourself to this kind of service. We picked this dealership for our oil change because we trusted the Valvoline national brand. The staff here changed our oil on August 5, 2020 but the cap was not secured correctly so it fell off suddenly while my son was driving us on the freeway the next day. All the oil fell out, the warning lights were all flashing and chiming, and then our car seized completely and we had to be towed to a local garage. At first the Valvoline manager Troy came out and apologized for their negligence, then paid directly for replacing oil into the engine. Everyone applauded with relief when the car was able to start. But we were solemnly warned by the garage owner that even though the car started, the fact that it seized metal upon metal damaged the metal parts in a way that could lead to future engine failure. Troy also acknowledged this risk and Valvoline's responsibility to cover damage that might present in the future. To reassure us he gave us a "customer care" case number for the corporate Valvoline office, and when I called them later that day they were very supportive and reassuring that they would cover us for any future problems with the engine that may arise. Sounds good, right? So why am I saying not to use this dealership? Because 11,000 miles later our engine developed a banging noise called a "lower engine rod knock" and we were told it was no longer safe to drive our vehicle ever again because it could seize on the road again. But when we called Valvoline customer care to report the damage and ask for support they promptly CLOSED our case, informing us that we could not prove that the problem with our engine was in any way related to the initial engine seizure caused by the sudden loss of oil. We tried many times to discuss with them but they washed their hands of us completely. So there we were, without money to buy transportation to replace our car. The regional manager Dominic Torlish has continued to block us from any correspondence with Valvoline headquarters, and he is adamant that he will never pay a cent for the damages. I have never written a review like this before, and only decided to write this after a full 18 months of attempting in good faith to obtain coverage for our damages from Valvoline. Now we are writing because we don't want others to make the same mistake we did by thinking Valvoline stands by the quality of its product.Service: Oil change

I got an oil change on December 16th in NH, drove to the Smoky Mountains over the holiday. Went to CT today and realized I was leaking oil. The manager (sorry I don't recall your name) was very polite and accommodating. Akeem was very friendly and helped to ensure everything was all set on my Jeep before driving 2.5 hours home. Thank You so much for the exceptional service. I hope you all have a Happy New Year! I may just stop by for my next oil change with your excellent team because I will be in the area in a couple months.

Very friendly and knowledgeable STAFF. no hard upselling, but made suggestions for what I needed to think about based on my car's mileage for the future. They changed some blinker lights for me, no charge as I had the bulb. At the onset, the customer experience was great; however, when I posed an issue with my service, I felt essentially gas lighted me. My car ran out of oil within the same week (note: zero signs of an oil leak or that my car is burning through the oil after 4 months of monitoring), and the oil filter was twisted on so tightly that I cannot even hand twist it off. The review process is all internal, so it was bias from the beginning.Service: Oil change

They were quick actually & personable/friendly. Wasn't just a sit & be bored visit. I was in the area when going here today. I am inclined to wanna drive the distance in the future though when stuff is needed in future. *Thumbs up*

Whole service took only about 30 minutes. Shane was extremely helpful, especially with explaining what needed to be changed with my car and what signs of wear to look out for in the future. As someone who s dealt with less-than-friendly mechanic shops, this was a great experience.

Great bunch of dudes. I rolled up and realized my car insurance had taken all my money so I only had 20 bucks in my account. I think I'll come back! The guys were quick and didn't push services on me but pointed out a broken headlight in need of replacement. I didn't have to leave my car! Everyone seemed laid back and genuinely friendly---not in a fake corporate way, but because... they actually were friendly and in good spirits? Fast, convenient, friendly people. The rates were maybe a bit higher than you could find elsewhere, though I mostly wanted an in-and-out, wait-in-your-car kind of place. Maybe I stopped by on the odd good day there, but I think I'll give them another try in 5,000 miles :D

Needed a oil change and was guaranteed the lowest price. I understand being a few dollars off from competitors but they were 40 dollars for than both Firestone and splash car was for identical motor oil. On top of it all they tried to get me to replace so called recommended work even after explaining that works has been done. Not a smooth or fast or honest experience. I will never go there again and will tell everyone that is looking for service to go elsewhere

My family and I have been loyal customers for years but we are no longer going to be doing business with Valvoline as of today. I no longer have any trust with this location.I know walking in that I am going to be pushed on to upsell on some extras, so that is not the issue. The issue is that I literally caught them putting the old oil filter back on my car. I watched them take the oil filter out and throw the old o-ring in the trash. 5 minutes later I watch the tech fish the o-ring out of the trash, crouch down in front of my car (obviously to obstruct my view) and not only put the old o-ring back on the cartridge but also the old oil filter back in. When I inquired about it - why it was not changed - why I was being charged for a filter that was not changed - why I was not told they didn t have stock of the filter before we even started - I got the manager to come over and show me a wad of cash and say he was heading to the parts store now. I waited for another 30 minutes while the guy went to the store and get the filter. I am certain that if I didn t call it out that the filter would not have been replaced no matter what the manager tried to spin.I also got an antifreeze replacement that I now question was actually done. Saw them throw a hose into the engine area touch a few knobs on the machine and the procedure was done in a like a minute or two. I cannot confirmation that anything actually was done from my perspective.As I sat there thinking about if I should post a review or push the issue, they really solidified my customer experience. The tech made mention of maybe $10 off the service due to the issues and then manager came over looked at my invoice and since I had used a 20% off coupon I got via email Manager said He got enough off my service.Well, they are right - I have had enough. I (and my 3 other cars) will take my business elsewhere.Potential customers, save yourself some frustration and at worst some car issues and avoid Valvoline. If you do go here, watch them like a hawk as this could easily be a very regular occurrence if you are not watching.Service: Oil change

Was overdue for an oil change, I ve never been to a Valvoline til today. I made the right choice.Kendrick was very informative and quick with changing my oil, he explained to me which would be best for my mileage and didn t pressure me to spend more than I had to. Everyone was in high spirits and very friendly, like genuinely happy people working a tough job; I highly recommend going to this location.Also I will definitely say Kendrick deserves a promotion of some sort.I will be returning to this Valvoline my next oil change and I look forward to seeing the familiar faces.If Kendrick does see this, or the compliment gets passed along, tell him Mikala said to get pasta for dinner.Service: Oil change

Buyers beware! Several times now at this location I have gone in for just an oil change on my FLEET VEHICLE, and the staff here sees $$$. I m first asked what I am looking to get done, and I clearly state JUST AN OIL CHANGE. Once again the same sequence of events follow. The tech calls over the manager, the manager and the tech then discuss in low whispers all the add on services they can get for fleet vehicles. They turn the computer away from me so I can t see all the unnecessary items and services being added to the bill. During this scam process, NOT ONCE do either of the employees tell me what they re doing, or explaining why I need these extra items. They then send in a work order directly to the fleet management company to approve all this extra work WITHOUT MY CONSENT. My bill is now over $400 with all the extra items added. Luckily this time I knew what to expect, and I shut that whole process down... I told the manager JOEL on Amity Rd, New Haven that I ONLY am approving the oil change, and brought up that no one asked me permission to add on all the extra items. He immediately got defensive and said that Enterprise (my fleet management) already approved the work order. I told him too bad, only the oil change, and told him that he is trying to take advantage of our business by assuming he can charge as much as he can on fleet vehicles. Very shady business practice at the Valvoline of New Haven on Amity St. I hope corporate will reach out to me so I can discuss this matter. Very disappointed.Service: Oil change

I had a great experience at this Valvoline location. To be honest, years ago I had a terrible experience at one a few towns over (tons of hard up selling, felt like I was talked down to for being female ,etc) but today I was in a rush and had to get a oil change, so I figured I would give this company another shot. I'm very glad that I did. The person who helped me was named Charlie, and he was excellent. He made recommendations, but didn't pressure me. He seemed knowledgeable, he was incredibly friendly and polite. The experience was wonderful, and I will absolutely be back. Valvoline should be very proud of the Amity location and its staff.

I was extremely disappointed and I left. I pulled my car in there were two other cars ahead of me which was fine. There were four other cars that came after me. The attendance not once approached me and said it'll be a little late. I mentioned that to say that the other four cars that were probably more expensive cars (Jeep Compass) than mine got Superior service acknowledgment however you want to call it. Yet I continue to wait for 30 minutes with nothing. Therefore I left
