We had a very positive experience dealing with Jay from Manchester Transmissions. He explained to us what the issue was and gave us a couple of options as to what we could do to solve the problem. The job took four days to complete, and Jay made sure to touch base with us a few times over the course of that time to give us regular updates. Our vehicle was ready to be picked up a day early, which made us very happy. We would highly recommend using Manchester Transmissions.

Manchester transmissions literally saved me thousands of dollars over what the dealership wanted to charge me for a repair and that repair was only a symptom.Manchester Transmissions found the source of my problem fixed it and fixed the problem the dealership said I had.I hope I never have a car problem ever again, but if I do, Manchester Transmissions is the only place I will go to.

Let s get straight to it. I been having transmission problems for about 3 months & been to 3 different shops and the dealership. Nobody could figure out what was going on. The dealership said I needed a whole new transmission. I said before I make my big decision to get rid of the car or get a transmission I was referred to Manchester transmissions and they were a wonderful help. Friendly service makes you seem like you knew these guys forever. They were able to diagnose my problem within an hour. Now my car runs perfect and I am so thankful for them. Can't recommend them enough. Had a family member make a mistake that we thought was going to break the transmission. Jay was able to diagnose and fix the issue without the transmission needing to be replaced! Honest work at a great price. I brought my wife Lexus to the dealership willing to pay more for their experience and tools and knowledge due to a difficult shifting concern. They tried selling me a new transmission based on historic codes that I gave them when they were unable to duplicate the concern.I called up jay and asked for a quote to replace the transmission solenoid based on my own research. He put me in my place, schooled me on the process, told me he was not looking to charge me money for an improper diagnosis just for me to leave with the same problem. He diagnosed the problem, fixed it sooner than he said was possible, and it cost us 1/3 the price.The process was easy, honest, and jay seems to truly care about the customers! I first took my vehicle to the dealer who told me I would need a brand-new transmission ($6,100), plus shop fees and tax.I decided to research and seek out a second opinion. I decided to call up Manchester Transmission on Sheldon Rd and spoke to Jay. He was very respectful and listened to what I described over the phone. I setup a time to go to the shop. My first impressions of the customer lobby business area were that it was clean and functional. Jay even provided me a tour of the shop... showing me the garage bay area as well as the stock room/ transmission repair area. Everything was systematic and laid out in a very functional manner.After Jay confirmed that my transmission was on the early stages of failure and the transmission was inspected outside the truck, he provided me some options and his personal recommendations of what he would do if it were his truck.After addressing all my questions and concerns I authorize the work. It took about 5-6 days. Throughout that time Jay provided updates as they worked on my truck. It has now been about 2 months since Manchester Transmission rebuilt and upgraded my transmission. My truck is running strong, and the shifts are crisp and solid. Thanks Jay and Manchester Transmissions for rebuilding and upgrading my transmission at a fair price which was overall less than what the dealer quoted for a new transmission that would come with the same weaker stock components.-KGService: Transmission

I brought my 54 Ford custom here because every time I asked who to take it for transmission work, it was `Manchester Transmission`. I knew being a Hot Rod owner an a car guy, there was more problems than transmission. ( I had just bought this car last fall). Jay kept me updated on their progress almost daily (3 calls one day) letting me know progress and potential problems. This is not just a transmission shop. I had a trans rebuild, rear main seal, timing chain, and a fabricated bracket that I was missing. Jay and his crew are masters at what they do. Jay gave Karen and I a tour of the place. You'll never find a cleaner shop and friendlier and knowledgeable bunch of guys. Thank you guys, went cruisin today.

I was having occasional issues with my 2016 AWD Highlander when I put it in reverse. Sort of a shuddering/slippage sound. What was concerning was the fact that it only happened once in a while... I brought it to Jay and he was able to bring it out and duplicate the problem. Called me back and was able to offer an informal diagnosis based on their experience with that Toyota model transmission, which proved spot-on. Replaced the part, and back on the road. My car was having transmission issues so I called and told them the problems I was having. They told me to bring the car in for a free diagnostic, I say great but my car needs to be jumpstarted every time before driving. Is that okay? The guy says that's fine just come on in.I get there and this guy proceeded to tell me they can't work on the car because the battery is dead. I TOLD YOU THIS OVER THE PHONE! Then he says "the car is old and I should just sell it, fixing it won't be worth it." Thanks for wasting my time,if you didn't wanna fix the car just say that.

Excelente service ! Jay is a straight shooter, gave me helpful insight about my car! Did not have to buy a new transmission. Thank God for honest folks like Jay. Definitely recommend if in need of an honest evaluation regarding transmission service for your car.

Manchester Transmission has been a trusted "go to" place for any transmission work I've ever had. Jay the co-owner is quick to answer the phone and give you an accurate read on what he thinks could be going on. The following experience with Jay exemplified his professionalism and dedication to quick and QUALITY service. This review will be long winded though details are critical in this review.The last time I contacted him was in April of 2021 when I was in New Hampshire some 150 miles from Manchester. My car had some sort of missed shifting as I rounded a turn....very unusual. Being somewhat technical, my first read was low transmission fluid.I grabbed my phone to call Jay though it was 6:30 pm, well beyond closing time. Leaving my message I expected a call the next day though 15 minutes later Jay called ! We discussed the issue and he gave me real time advice in determining if my car was leaking oil from a certain area particular to my model car. This advice was critical in assessing my next move, getting back to Manchester which was done with no issues.The next day Jay brought the car in and accessed the codes with a long test drive to try to replicate my issue. He probably spent a couple hours looking into my car and found NOTHING wrong.Other transmission facilities could have taken advantage of me in this situation. Jay did not.There was no charge for his work which I thought clearly exceeded my expectations though it must be said that in all the 3-4 times work has been done at Manchester Transmission it has been done on time and at the price quoted. I trust this outfit to do excellent work.Service: Transmission

Manchester Transmissions saved me thousands of dollars. My transmission light came on and so I had my car towed to another "transmission" shop who told me that my transmission was "burnt up" and I needed to replace it. They quoted me $9k for a remanufactured (about what I paid for my car 5 years ago) and $3500 for a junkyard replacement. I had it towed to Manchester Transmissions for a second opinion and there was nothing wrong with the transmission, it was a control valve. Still not a cheap fix but far less than the other shop and I didn't have to replace my transmission with a junkyard part when that wasn't even what was wrong. I've now been driving it for weeks and it runs great. If you suspect you have a transmission problem, take it to Manchester Transmissions.Service: Transmission

Jay was amazing from start to finish. My car was at another mechanic, and I didn t feel comfortable driving it to his shop with my kids. He picked it up himself and called as soon as it was at his shop. From the moment he had my car he kept me in the loop with EVERYTHING. He understood I don t have much knowledge with cars and when I said I may need my dad or sister to call back and have him explain everything all over again, he was happy to do so. After all the work with my transfer case needing to be replaced, more work was needed on different parts of my car and he advised me to go for it since the labor was already partially being done. Also, Jay let me know I needed new tires, as mine were different heights and contributed to my transfer case going bad. Instead of just telling me and letting me figure it out, he WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND, in my opinion, and had 2 different prices for me on tires, but also encouraged me to talk to my dad and sister and get other quotes from tire stores near me.I cannot rave enough about Manchester Transmissions.I will forever be a customer of Jays and will most definitely be recommending him to anyone who needs transmission repair.Thank you Jay for all your help!

I was referred to this company and was told that if I had any questions about my transmission, this is the place to go. I was not disappointed. A professional gentleman name Jay did a free diagnostic evaluation on my car and told me my transmission was in good standing. One thing I believe in doing before entering an establishment is checking reviews on it. I was not disappointed with Manchester Transmissions Inc. Had some transmission issues with my car and called around a few places and checked reviews. After getting a few quotes and reading the reviews for Manchester Transmission, I decided to bring my car to Jay. Really glad I did. Jay was on top of it and let me know everything that was going on with my car. He even pointed out a few other things that were going on with my steering and fixed those for me as well, saving me a ton in labor costs since some of those parts were being accessed during my transmission fix. After getting my car back I noticed a tremendous difference in the way it drives and I couldn't be happier. It's like having a new car! I brought my diesel truck to Jay to have the transmission built to handle the performance parts I had and planned on doing. Jay was very helpful and was able to build me exactly what I was looking for. He had excellent communication throughout the whole process (which took a couple weeks to figure out all the details to make sure I was satisfied). I felt as if he cared about the project more than just trying to earn my business. The transmission seems to perform exactly as intended and I am fully confident if I have any issues he will be sure to help. I would recommend his shop to anyone.

I was having a problem with my car and brought it to my local repair shop. I was told the problem was likely my the transmission. I brought the car to Manchester Transmission because they were highly recommended by a friend. Manchester Transmission checked the transmission for free (and would not even accept a tip for the time they spent checking the car). I dropped the car off the night before and it was ready for pick up well before noon the next day. Thankfully it was not my transmission and Jay referred me to another repair shop to fix the problem. By far, it was the best customer service experience of any auto repair shop. I will most definitely recommend Manchester Transmission.Also, just a quick word on the friend who recommended Manchester Transmission. His car did need work on the transmission. However, rather than take the job, Jay referred my friend back to his dealer where the transmission was repaired under warranty. Honesty and excellent customer service!

The dealership said I needed a new transmission for more that $5000. I took my carto Jay at Manchester Transmission for a second opinion. He diagnosed it as a bad front axle and replaced it for $300. Great team, great work.Service: TransmissionService: Transmission

I called Jay about performing a used vehicle inspection on a 2016 Honda Odyssey. He was EXTREMELY helpful over the phone as I am an out of state buyer. He talked me through his opinion on getting an inspection on a vehicle from a reputable dealer and really was just overwhelmingly helpful on what he thought I should do. He said he could recommend a local shop that would be able to assist if I really wanted it done, but I think I ve been reassured that the purchase will work out.Thanks Jay. You are the man. Definitely recommend anyone considering this shop to call him and talk to him about what you need done.

As a traveling nurse, I move around a lot and rely on good transportation. I recently bought a new car which was overall in pretty great shape however, after a few cross-country road trips, it began acting up, and before I was able to bring it in to a mechanic, it died on the side of the road. I had it towed to a different car shop who told me the transmission and the clutch failed and I would need to pay over $7,000 for a brand new transmission since they could find nothing else in Connecticut. $7,000 is more than I bought the car for, and I am still paying this car off. In desperation, I remembered being recommended to this shop by a friend previously, and I called them up to ask for a second opinion.Jay answered and immediately made me feel at ease with his obvious expertise and excellent customer service. As a woman, I am honestly used to mechanics assuming I know nothing and talking down to me, but he was incredibly respectful and open with everything. He reassured me that he would not charge for the diagnostic, and let me know that he was pretty sure they could knock that price down substantially. I had it towed to him and he set me up with a rental car company. Throughout the process he called me up and continued to explain everything he was upfront and knowledgable and respectful, and in the end he brought the price down to less half of what I was expecting to pay, fixing the transmission instead of replacing it. My car now drives better than it has since I moved to Connecticut, and it only took him a few days to diagnose, get all the parts in, and fix everything up. I cannot recommend him highly enough!

Jay is the man. VeryHonest and trustworthy. I will recommend MT to all in need of good dependable service. We brought our car there thinking it was a transmission problem. They only found a loose motor mount bolt and charged me accordingly. There still are honest people out there.Thank You Jay and crew.

My 2005 Subaru had a sudden transmission problem as I was driving it. When I pulled over there was a huge puddle of transmission fluid, and I was sure I was going to need to replace the transmission. After researching local shops, I decided to have my car towed to Manchester Transmissions. The owner, Jay, was able to tell me within an hour that a broken hose clamp caused the issue, and that with any luck my transmission might be okay. He fixed the issue and the transmission was fine, so what I thought might be a very expensive repair turned out to be a very affordable one. Jay was helpful and honest -- great customer service and professionalism.

I went to a name brand place when my car was acting up. They told me it was probably the transmission and recommended I go somewhere more specialized. Manchester Transmissions was close by so I brought my car. It was close to closing time but Jay took my car for a test drive right away. He was able to diagnose the problem the next day as a bad wheel bearing and had it fixed the morning after. I could have been tricked into a new transmission and charged thousands of dollars, but Jay treated me right and I ended up spending under $400. Great service and very reliable.

Rating it so highly due to honesty and integrity. I brought my car in expecting a definitive transmission issue and after no wait and a test drive that I was in the passenger seat for, and not in the waiting room, Jay informed me that the transmission was not the issue. If I ever do need transmission work, I will do business with Jay.

Two great experiences. My Grand Cherokee had years of transmissions issues that were misdiagnosed by not one, but two dealers. Jay took one look at it, told me it was the torque converter and we've been good ever since. Jay was extremely easy to deal with, quick turn around, fair on price, and delivered what he promised.Recently, the same Jeep was shuttering and having issues again. I thought the torque converter went again. Jay checked it out, told me it was a misfire, and referred me another great shop, Ed's Automotive in Ellington. No charge for the diagnostic or for leaving my car in the parking lot an extra day.I've moved and I drive out of my way now, but there is no doubt I will return to Manchester Transmission for any transmission issues in the future. I can't recommend enough that you do the same.

I've used these guys several times in the past and I've referred my kids to them as well. Jay and his team are extremely honest and they will not do any work, or charge you any money unless you absolutely need the work. The entire experience is honest. The transmissions he's worked on for me are now bullet proof and I will using these guys until I can't drive anymore, or they go out of business.
