I am profoundly disappointed with the service and response I have received from PEP Boys following a recent visit to their West Hartford location. My experience has left me frustrated, dissatisfied, and convinced that PEP Boys prioritizes shifting blame and protecting their interests over customer satisfaction.The ordeal began after I had four tires replaced at a PEP Boys location. Following the service, I noticed significant damage to the wheel rims of my car. When I reached out to the PEP Boys staff to address this issue, I was met with denial and deflection. Instead of acknowledging the apparent damage that occurred during the tire replacement, I was astounded to find that they attempted to place the blame squarely on my wife, suggesting that she had caused the damage by hitting a curb. This explanation was not only implausible but also contradicted the fact that the damage was clearly inflicted during the tire replacement process.My frustration led me to escalate the matter by lodging a complaint with PEP Boys' corporate office. However, the response, or rather the lack thereof, was nothing short of outrageous. For two weeks, I received no response or acknowledgement of my complaint. When I finally decided to follow up, I was informed that my case had been closed with the verdict that the "rims have road rash, not machine damage."This response is not only unsatisfactory but deeply unsympathetic to the ordeal I have endured. It is abundantly clear that PEP Boys is unwilling to take responsibility for the damage that occurred during their service. Their insistence on shifting blame and their lack of accountability is both disheartening and unprofessional.As a customer, I expected a certain level of service, integrity, and responsibility from PEP Boys. Regrettably, this experience has demonstrated a complete disregard for these fundamental principles. Pep Boys Auto Service and Tires at 1000 New Britain Ave, West Hartford, CT 06110 has been the birthplace of my frustration and dissatisfaction.I went there for the first time to change all my brake pads and rotors. Immediately I noticed the irresponsibility, as well as the lack of interest and communication from the staff.I entrusted my car and keys to them, in order for them to replace my brake pads and rotors. I was told I was going to get a call the same day when the car was ready to pick up. Never got the call. When I figured enough time had passed, I called in to get an update. The car had been done for a while. While this is not the service I was expecting, all breaks and rotos were replaced and looked fine, so I let the communication issue slide.Here comes the fun part. A week later I showed up to their shop because either my tire or wheel bearing was making my car noisy on the road. I explained what was going on, and they decided to ignore all that and make a wheel balancing procedure. Sure enough, they didn t even test drive the vehicle to see if the problem was gone. They handed me the vehicle as being good to go when it wasn t. Still was making the same noise.I immediately drove the vehicle back to them to actually fix the issue, and after a lengthy process they did fix the problem and, in the process, they left my car with more issues than before. Now my speedometer doesn t even move, the ABS system doesn t work, and the brakes are making a super loud noise.All that for a simple wheel bearing replacement. I am not mad or angry, I am just completely disappointed. If I could rate them mines stars, I surely would.

I would absolutely not recommend Pep Boys to anyone for tire repair issues. I went in to get a tire patched. The bolt causing the issue was still in the tire for ease of locating the problem for the patch. After an hour, they told me the job was completed, the tire was fixed, and I was on my way. Within 2 hours of leaving, my tire started slowly leaking air as I was driving into work. Within 5 hours of leaving, I received an email alert my tire had gone completely flat again.I followed up the next day at an alternate tire place that confirmed the patch was not properly done and they repaired it for me without issue. The Pep Boys team cannot be relied on for consistency and assurance of a successfully completed job and I will not be returning for any future issues.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM, I changed the oil and filters. It took almost 4 hours to do this; The workers did a part then left with another vehicle, among them they talked about the mistakes they made, I had to go to the mechanic myself to have my car delivered, and there they just did it, a few hours passed and I checked that it was coming out again The oil indicator, I checked the oil and it was the same as when I delivered it, I went to complain and they told me that perhaps there had been a service error, that I should take it another day to have the oil recharged. Obviously I couldn't drive my car like that, I had to take it somewhere else and pay again. I DEMAND THE RETURN OF MY MONEY AND THAT THEY VERIFY WHICH PEOPLE WORK THERE.

Rude staff that lied directly to my face. A simple google search told me that much. If you website allows you to make an appointment for an emissions test, I m pretty sure you re at least supposed to do them. Don t proceed to tell me that the state of CT does allow appointments . The one good thing that this location did for me was suggesting we go to a competitor down the street. Theyer taking great care of us. Very disappointed.

Awful service at this Hartford location. They damaged my engine to the point where I have to replace the engine. They are dishonest and take no accountability for damages to your car.A week goes by in a hotel, I got no calls & no messages. When I called them for an update, Bryan kept avoiding answering any of my questions. Turned out they hadn't done anything. They sounded like they didn't really know what they were doing so I told them to just replace the oil pump.31 days go by, they finally changed the oil pump. I pick it up and start driving back to Florida. After a few hours I start getting a misfire. I popped the hood. Ignition coil 1 was missing the mounting bolt. Another bolt wouldn't go in, they had stripped the threads and kept quiet about it. I managed to secure it somehow. They had also left a rag in the engine bay. About a week later I heard a loud bang and the engine started shaking like crazy. I don't even want to know what they screwed up in there. Avoid this place and take your car to a quality shop.

I called in this afternoon to inquire about putting in tires and I was told to bring it in as soon as I could. The service was great, the staff- very friendly and some were even pretty funny. I appreciate a professional, laid back environment. Car drives super smooth and the tires look great, I m so thankful! Shoutout to the West Hartford Pep Boys staff!

Great service. I went there to get my catalytic converter changed and the staff was very knowledgeable. The staff was were friendly and efficient.The store manager Richard was very patient with me and explained everything. I will definitely continue to have my car serviced here.

I had my brake pads and rotors replaced at Pepboys 6 months ago (they charged $1500), but the brakes weren't done properly, so I had to return 4 times. After I visited Pepboys last time, the "Brake Fluid" light came on after a few weeks. As a result, I took it back, and they determined that there was a brake fluid leak and damage to the pipe. They said speed bum could have caused it instead of admitting they worked on brakes four times in a few months.�I was charged $1500 for brake pads and rotors, which is too high, then they charged me 700+ for the mistake they made. I would not recommend going there because the work may not be done correctly and the prices might be too high.

These guys never disappoint!! I ve came here 2X since September and they took care of me, even though, both times were later in the day. I couldn t be without my car and they understood that and made sure to get it done in a timely manner. They gave me options so I wasn t pressured by any means. They exceeded my expectations on both visits. I recommend Pepboys over Walmart, Firestone, Monroe, Etc..!!!!!!

I walked into this location on both the wrong day and at the wrong time, entirely, my fault. The evening prior, my car battery had gave out on me and I needed a replacement The gentleman behind the counter was able to transfer my appointment, take care of the service in less than 20 minutes, and get me on my way with a new battery. five stars, I would highly recommend this place.

Pep Boys on New Britain Ave Hartford, CT is close to my house, and I started going to them three years ago for regular oil changes, annual replacement of the cabin A/C filter, and replacing the battery. They are experienced, friendly, and efficient!And they don't talk down to me, even though I'm an older female.

I was incredibly dissatisfied and disappointed by my recent service at Pep Boys. I went in to get four brand new tires and when I picked up my vehicle there was damage on my hub caps and rims. When I took my vehicle back to Pep Boys to have the damage looked at, I was told the damage came from hitting curbs and there was no way that they could have caused this damage. Pep Boys has absolutely no care for customer service or leaving their customers happy or satisfied. I post this as a warning to all other people who are considering going to Pep Boys. They will damage your vehicle and deny it rather than take accountability or try to keep a customer. Go to Autozone or a locally owned car mechanic.

Rich, the manager, went out of his way to get the tires I needed, during the busy Christmas week, going above and beyond anything I could have hoped for. He saved my Christmas vacation! I will definitely return to this facility for service in the future!! Thank you so much!!

This location was very efficient. The manager was vey nice and willing to resolve all my issues and make sure I was out within 20 mins. I recommend anyone to this location for brakes, oil change , and service.

Tried coming in for a quick tire plug right after I had a nail in my tire in the area. Still half an hour until close, and I m told they can t do it until the morning because they re about to close. When I leave they proceed to what looks like lock the doors for closing when it isn t even 5:45. The guy wasn t rude or anything like that, he was rather nice, just if the place closes at 5:30, then change your hours online. If it closes at 6, customers shouldn t be turned away for that small of a job, especially as one guy is on his phone sitting on a pile of tires. Something more serious of a job I could understand, no problem. That s wasted time I could ve used to go to another shop that may have done the job and got me back on the road before 6.

Great service. The manager was very nice and professional. I came in as a walk in very close to end of shift. My tire was as bad as it could be. I also had a shake in my car which I thought needed an alignment. He said it was probably the tire weights being off. He was right. Could have totally done the alignment I asked for and charged me extra for nothing but he didn't. Very trust worthy people. I wish I lived closer so I could go there from now on.

AVOID THIS PLACE!!!!Came here yesterday November 9th 2023, to have a Coolant Flush and a Power Steering Flush. My car was driving great no issues I just wanted to get these done as recommended maintenance.After three hours which I believe is way too long for these two services, they finally gave me my car, literally after driving off the parking lot the car starts making noises when I turn left or right like a whining noise and the car even shakes a little bit.Came back like five minutes after to have them check it out, which it literally took them like two minutes and Emory came back to me telling that It may or may not be the Power Steering Pump that we could replace it, but he was not sure if that would fix it. they gave me the car and outside in the parking I start checking the hood to visually inspect the Power Steering Fluid Reservoir and that thing was overfoooding, look like it had way too much. Remember my car was not having this issue before I came in to this location.So, do yourself a favor and don t come to this place if you don t want to damage your car.Currently trying to find a solution, will update this review!!!

I had serious problems with a competitor unknowingly to Pep Boys. Emory and Brian very customer friendly when I had my 2008 Avalon service on 8/23. As a matter of fact Emory brought to my attention that I have additional work done for safety measures.I was so please that I came back to have work done on my 2006 Camry. Emory again very helpful and professionalism made me feel comfortable in doing business at the store.

This place is tragic, no one wants to do it. Making an appointment is pointless because you don't know when you will be seen anyway. Tragedy, it's better to replace it yourself. No wonder they will eliminate it. I do not recommend.

They take way too long what's the point of making an appointment if then it's going to take you another 2 to 3 hours just to put four tires on make zero sense to me first and last time I'm coming here because everywhere else I go I would have been in and out with all my new tires within the hour
