These guys are great. They didn't try to up-sell me and told me exactly how it is. I went in there for a standard brake replacement and oil change and they called to tell me that there were more issues relating to the entire brake system and wheel bearings. They said one definitely needed to be replaced and the other on the same axle should probably be replaced within a year or two. They said the other two weren't much of a problem and didn't push at all to fix those. Also a lot of the bolts were stripped or rusted and they had to saw and replace a lot of them, which they did and still got me my car back on the same day. I paid a more than fair price for parts and a very fair price for labor, considering the condition of my brakes.After I got the car back, I tested the brakes as best I could and can not find a single issue with them. They're awesome and have yet to fail me even in the slightest way. This place really exceeded my expectations. They're reasonable and willing to talk and explain whatever the issue may be to make sure you understand what the issue is and what the repair will be before you commit to having them do it.

My regular garage was booked solid, so I followed recommendations and called Lyons. They took me in with extensive brake trouble and fixed it immediately. Explained everything and they were not only respectful and kind, but were able to save some parts and cut my bill.Highly recommended. Stand-up shop!!

I have never really associated "painless" with auto mechanics, but this place really goes above and beyond to make the visit easy for their clients. I am so used to having to jump through hoops and wait for hours when it comes to anything having to do with the car, that I am still genuinely astonished by how quick and easy they make the process. They are event very friendly when responding to my several "Am I really good to go already?" They are really just that fast. I can't recommend them enough!Service: Auto emissions testing

This place is an old-fashioned morals kind of shop. One that truly values their customers and will go above and beyond just because its the right thing to do. I had a geat experience coming here and will continue to use them for all of our vehicles

Came in on short notice for an issue with my brake lights, and I was in an out in less than an hour. I was dreading how much it was going to cost but the price was very very fair. It was easy to get to and they have great hours. I will definitely be back next time my car needs help.

I ve used Lyons twice in the last few months. The first time I brought in my Honda Accord to get work done on it so I could sell it. They identified issues that needed to be done now and other issues that could hold off. I never felt pressured to get work done that wasn t necessary and the price was very reasonable.The second time I went to Lyons was for my Subaru Legacy. It needed a new transmission - not a cheap job. Lyons was kind enough to to suggest for me to ask Subaru to pay for it. And it turned out that Subaru would pay for it even though I m not the original owner. Lyons lost out on some business this time for being honest but they ll get all of my business moving forward.Very trustworthy people working here, and they do great work as well. Highly recommend!

I called here yesterday after one of my power windows got stuck open. They had me come in quickly and tried an easy fix before determining they'd have to open the door panel. I got a quote within a few hours and by the time I woke up this morning, the work was already done!The whole process was smooth, and this was one of the first times I've had a mechanic take me seriously and not try to upsell me on other services just because I'm not a man. I will absolutely be back any time I need work done.

Do not go to this place you will get robbed I am an experienced mechanic of 20 years and I never heard of a $1600 brake job what is this a dealership??? This place should change its name to beginners mechanic auto service

After going to four of the national chain shops that could not get my emissions tested due to various reasons (staffing, "I am a franchisee I don't honor appointments made on the company website", etc.) I walked in today and was done in 10 minutes driving away. Very positive experience after a lot of bad ones at other places in the same area.

I had asked for a diagnostic and estimate on October 24th 2022. I let them know I wasn't in a rush. I gave them a couple weeks to go over the car and provide an estimate. A couple weeks later, I was told my estimate would be ready and that I could stop by. I stopped by and was provided a list, not a detailed estimate of items with no explanation and apparently big money for minor repairs such as brakes, a serpentine belt, a valve cover gasket and front end work and other minor maintenance.I subsequently spoke on the phone with the person responsible for the diagnostics and estimate preparation. He said he couldn't understand why they gave me that list and I should come in to talk with him and he would then provide the estimate. I felt a little assured that a simple rare misunderstanding had occurred and that this gentleman would iron it all out. I arranged a time with him and went in to pick up the estimate a second time and again no estimate. He said he would get me one.At that point I figured I might as well just pick up the car so I did. That was a couple weeks ago. The experience left me with no expectations of future communication from them. I shouldn't be expected at this point to hound them for the estimate because I didn't pay them anything for it nor was I told I would have to pay for it. If they wanted to charge me for the diagnostics, I certainly would have considered that as an incentive not to add unnecessary items to the estimate.I feel I was beyond reasonable as a customer in asking for an estimate and anticipating an estimate when it was agreed that I would receive a estimate. I feel like I made every effort beyond being rude to the nice people there to give Lyons every opportunity to earn my permanent business. They are right down the street conveniently located.I had read lots of good reviews prior to giving Lyons a try. I suppose a lot of good reviews doesn't mean the reviewer is a good judge of automobile maintenance providers. They may just like the nice people over there. I like nice people too but I also need to be confident in the value of the services being provided. I can't afford to hire people just because I like them.To offer one last benefit of doubt, perhaps mine is a rare experience.

I had my car worked on twice. Both times they got me in and repaired the car within a few hours. On my second visit it was a quick fix and they only charged me for half an hour of labor. They easily could have charged the full hour but didn t. I really appreciate the honesty and the fact they aren t trying to rip you off. They told me that it wasn t a spark plug issue and it was internal motor issue m and I had to go to the dealer. I payed for this diagnoses, then had to go to the dealer pay for another diagnostics fee just to find out it in fact was a spark plug .

Absolutely saved my day.Got a flat tire on my way back from a work trip and had minimal time. They fit me in perfectly during a very busy day. Wow is all I can say.

Lyons is outstanding! Honest, caring, reasonable prices and the best all around service in the state. You can truly trust them to do right with your vehicle. No matter where you live it's worth the trip to Lyons! So what are you waiting for...go get your emission test, or your brakes fixed, or your tires rotated and oh don't forget that overdue oil change. You won't be disappointed with their service I promise.

My husband went in yesterday to ask about repairing my son s muffler. He was told best to purchase the muffler to save some money! We said great and had an appointment today for the muffler and emissions. Got there and was told it couldn t be done, something about the muffler and something else, oh took the $20 for emissions and we didn t get it done there! Had to go back for our money! Brought it down the road and was told absolutely can be done and have an appointment already set up! Don t waste your money here, go elsewhere! And they were extremely rude!

Kevin is my go-to person at Lyons on New Britain Avenue, West Hartford, Connecticut. I am updating a previous review. My first experience was not the best. That said, Chip reached out to me to clear things up. He presented me with a fair offer to remedy the remaining concerns and repair the relationship with me, the customer. Customer service in the second time was stellar.
