Short review: phenomenal experience. Friendly, professional, and courteous staff. And given the quality of the work, very talented technicians. Car came back like new, within the expected timeframe. Would highly recommend.Long review:After being gone for two decades, I moved back to Connecticut, and the first time driving in snow, I hit black ice and slid into a guardrail.At the suggestion of a family member, I requested my insurance company to allow Governor's to be the shop my car was repaired at.They were able to get my car in immediately, and I was given an initial timeline of 11 business days (not including weekends and holidays). Roughly two and a half weeks. It ended up being a little over four weeks, which was well within what I expected, but at no fault of their own. There were a couple parts that were on national backorder. Something beyond their control. I went in expecting about a month, and that was pretty dead on.While the cosmetics were in rough shape, I was really concerned with the suspension/steering. Immediately following the accident, my steering wheel was way off center, and the car shimmied above 35mph.Well, I got the car back today, and had to do about 6 hours worth of driving. So I got some good seat time in, and I can honestly say that I couldn't tell that the car had ever been in an accident. It drives as straight, and smooth, as the day I bought it. The panels are all matched perfectly, with no gaps or missing components. Absolutely top tier work.The ONLY nitpick I have, is that I was told when I dropped it off that I would receive update phone calls every Wednesday and Friday. Which I thought was above and beyond. But, I think I only received one or two calls in the month my car was there. I did call a couple times to check on it, and everyone I talked to was very pleasant and knowledgeable. Not a huge downside, and nothing that makes a difference in how things turned out.Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with the experience, and will be using them for any future body repairs. I'd highly recommend anyone needing auto body repairs to consider them.I've included pictures of the damage done, the progress at about halfway, and the end result.

I had to have my car brought in for service today and the dealer scheduled a pick up through this company. Rico picked up my car and was amazing. He sent status updates on his way, was very professional, and even sent me pictures after to show the cars safe delivery. Rico is phenomenal and I would use this company just because of Rico in the future.

They did such a beautiful job on my car words can t even describe. When they gave it back she was detailed and even cleaned on the inside to perfection. I m more than satisfied and will never go any where else when it comes to getting my car fixed! Thank you guys !!!

I had my very first accident after 10+ years of driving and I gotta tell ya, Lily helped me through every step along with my insurance agent. My right passenger door was bent in and couldn t open, scratches on the rear door and rear panel, and the rims were scratched up. I felt comfortable and Lily was more than communicative with me the entire repair process. The repair went great and I m very satisfied with the work completed. Thank you everyone who had a hand in helping me out!

Professional and patient with all the nonsense the insurance company was doing. Sal helped me understand the process of a car being totaled. Never dismissed me like I was asking too many questions. This is the second time I ve used them bc of Sal and his professionalism.

I had a small dent in need of repair and was on a time crunch as I was set to travel out of the country and needed car to get to airport out of State. Lily was so professional, courteous and accommodating, and got me in to the shop within days and kept me posted of the progress, and the car was done ahead of schedule and looked great, and they even buffed out another area of concern for me. I called my insurance company to sing their praises. Helped made an unfortunate incident get remedied quickly and professionally!

We had our insurance reachout to tow our car from Vernon to Manchester(8miles). The time given was 70 to 100 minutes. We called the number to get an eta and was told 90 mins to 130. The driver was finally there 3.5hrs later. It then took him 45 mins to a hour to get the car on the truck. Brought it to the shop and left it in the middle of the driveway blocking other businesses. DO NOT USE THIS PLACE

This is my second time bringing my car to governors auto body first experience was with Carl in Windsor locks and second experience was with lily c it s been very wonderful experience and recommend them as a # 1 body shop she told me it will take a day and it did and they were very communicative throughout the process.

Amazing job! Went above and beyond. The pin stripe on my Honda Civic 2010 was discontinued. So instead of leaving that area blank, they put a sticker on that looks exactly like the pin stripe I originally had. My car looks brand new! Today I had an issue with my truck. I called governors towing because I needed it towed home. As stressed out as I was at that moment I thought my day was going to get worse since I had to call and get it towed. When I called the tow company the person who answered the call made my day a lot better, he was very patient and understanding. Once the tow truck came the driver was very professional. He had on gloves as well as asking me if I would like for him to wear a mask in the truck since he was nice enough to drop me off with my truck. I had an amazing experience with my tow truck driver. His name is Rico. His customer service was like none other I have experienced.He called and text the whole time he was on the way to let me know when he was gonna be there. When he got there he treated me like family. His knowledge was amazing and he taught me a lot in the short time I was there. I will be using this company for now on. I will be sending all my family and friends to this company just because of Rico. I never do these reviews because I never have a 100 percent good experience. Something is always wrong. Well Rico was absolutely amazing. There is not one bad thing I can say about him. Thank you again for the amazing experience. I can not say thank you enough to this company and their driver Colin! After waiting five hours for a local truck to tow me, Gieco found these amazing people and they were there in under 30 mins coming from a ways away! Colin called me right away and assured me I d be taken care of and even in a snow storm on a Friday night! Very helpful!

As an auto shop owner I find this place very unprofessional. A customer was supposed to have their vehicle towed here. She called it in at 5:20. She was in a lane on the highway and let the dispatcher know it was unsafe. She was very rude and said good luck . At 7pm she left the vehicle because it was cold and dangerous. The dispatcher said that they would be there in ten minutes. At 11pm the police had the vehicle towed to north haven because it was in an unsafe spot. Now the customer has to pay for two tows much farther than originally. Several calls have been placed to dispatch so we could figure out what happened to the vehicle and they never answered their phone. Judging by all of the other reviews that say the same things about this place it is too small of an operation that bit off more than they can chew by doing insurance tows and can t afford more trucks. It s a shame that places like that exist to give other garages a bad name.

I called three towing companies before Governor s Auto Body was able to get me a tow truck. Greg, the receptionist, was able to get me a quote with a reasonable and affordable price. He was able to get me a tow truck right away. West, who towed my truck, was super nice and even helped point out what was wrong with my car. He arrived quickly and was able to get my car onto his towing truck right away. We got from Windsor Locks to East Hartford right away. Thank you guys for being so accommodating and helpful! HIGHLY recommend and will be using again for future occurrences!

If their drivers drove as good as their truck looks, I d have left two stars. Next time let me merge onto the highway from the HOV lane rather than speeding up, staring at me, and then proceeding to stay in the high speed lane.

Horrible customer service experience. My insurance company contacted them to tow my car. After I got my estimated time the driver called my 30 minutes earlier than the estimated time saying he was around the corner getting gas. I told him I was 15 min away. The driver said ok. I got to my car the driver was nowhere to be found. I called he hung up the 1st time and the 2nd time he didn't respond. I waited then called the shop and they said the driver is 45 minutes away because he went to another tow job. After waiting another 45 minutes. I called my insurance and asked them to find out what's going on and they told them an additional 45 minutes. Thankfully my insurance was able to find me a different tow company.

They were beyond unprofessional, disorganized, and hostile . I brought my car in after an accident and they wouldnt even give me an appointment to look at it . Additionally they made me drive my car home when it was too dangerous and illegal to drive .In addition, they gave me an impression that I was the bad customer. If your insurance recommends this place use the other repairs . I am so glad I moved the assessment to another place .Service: Body & Trim

I only put one because that is the powdery rating I could give, if possible I would ve given it a 0 for the service that I received. Terrible job was done on my car. They had my car in the shop for 6 days, when I went to pick it up, they gave it to me with old parts and called me to go back and put in the new car parts. They part that was being repaired was left damaged and the doors were scratched on top of that, which were never there to begin with. They told me to bring it in after two weeks repair those damages that they caused and I brought it but they left one part rough on the body of the car. I told the manager and he said that what I needed was a new car because mine was damaged and when I left my car those surface damages to the body of my car were not there when I dropped it off and the secretary had a nasty attitude that made a comment that I was annoying. Terrible customer service and terrible work on my car. I do not recommend this auto shop to no one.Services: Tires, Painting

Do not use this place. Insurance companies should stop using them for estimates. After adding weeks of grief to an already epic saga to get USAA to pay for their clients damage to our Alpha Romeo, they under estimated the repair by over $4000, thinking that the bumper could just be patched when it needed to be replaced. There are much better options out there.*Lilly at the front desk is the only silver lining of this place*

This company is so unprofessional. My car broke down and my insurance company went through them so my car could be towed to my mechanics. They were dispatched at 5:38 pm and the car was never picked up and due to being in an unsafe area on the highway and considered hazardous the state police towed my car at 10:55 pm. The company tried to tell me they were there at 6:37 pm which was untrue as their driver called me at 6:55pm to say he would be to my car in 10 to 15 minutes. I was told by their dispatcher when I called after finding out it would take 78 minutes to get to my car originally that I was in an unsafe area and did not feel say " good luck". This is not how you conduct business. The worst company I have dealt with in a long time.

My apartment management began towing cars from my parking lot for plowing this weekend without advance notice. I noticed my car was towed around 10:30am and was provided the number to this towing service to retrieve my car. I probably placed a total of 6-8 calls between 10:30am and 3:30pm and reception refused to verify if my car had been towed by their business and any pick-up procedures. It wasn't until I involved West Hartford Police at 3:30pm that I was told my car's whereabouts and given retrieval instructions by this tow service. Reception was unsympathetic and rude and if they had simply confirmed they had my vehicle in their possession and an ETA for pick-up, the situation would not have escalated. Due to Connecticut State Law Title 14 Sec. 14-145, West Hartford Police was recommending that I report a stolen vehicle since more than 4 hours had passed since my vehicle was towed. The only silver lining to this situation were the two gentlemen who met me at the lot to retrieve my car. They streamlined the retrieval process and were sympathetic to my anxiety and panic. My understanding is that other tenants in my complex with towed vehicles received the same treatment over the phone. Future issues will be largely prevented if reception at least confirms they have a vehicle in their possession when they receive a call.

The 'Roadside Assistance' from my insurance company told me that Governor's would tow my car yesterday, and they never showed up. I called them and they told me they were still coming, but had no estimate as to when they would be here. I was told today that they had cancelled me and not notified anyone.This morning my insurance tried to get them to come out in a second attempt. They not only never arrived, but when I called they told me that they were the next town over and would be there soon, and when my insurance company called them an hour later they told them that they were already here (when in fact they never showed up).So if you need a tow, call ANYONE ELSE and do NOT believe a word Governor's tells you!

One star is giving them too much! I got a flat tire and had no spare so my roadside assistance through Geico dispatched this company to tow me. I was quoted and 90 min. I called to give more info about where I was and the girl who answered the phone was not the most welcoming person to talk to and lacked customer service skills. I unfortunate had to speak to her twice. The driver was COMPLETELY RUDE and unfortunately I didn t get his name. It took him 2.5 hours to get my car and bring it 3.5 miles down the road. He apparently wasn t able to find my car and instead of calling me I had to call him and he had no idea what he was coming to me and my car for. Then he hung up on me in the middle of me asking a question. Never again will I use this company!
