I had an accident on the road, I moved my car from the road to a road side parking. They took me my car to the garage, even thought I told them to wait for my brother since it was my first accident and had no idea. Then when we asked them to toll it back to my home the same day, they said they will toll to us on Monday morning. Joe looked through all my papers, ID, and talked with my insurance company. They said I would only have to pay 35 dollars out of pocket and the rest was covered. Today when I was waiting for my car, I gave them a call, they said they aren t tolling it back bc we have to pay them first in person and show paperwork. The guy on the phone was so RUDE! He started shouting at us then hang up on us. When we called back, he goes he has customers to look over, but we are a customer too! Not only he charges us a lot ($288.95), but also damaged and dirtied my car. At first he said they will take credit or debit card, but then later he goes he wont accept credit or debit, he wants cash. Like seriously?!! I believe the guy we were talking to was named Sergio. The tolling guy kept being rude as well when we told him about this and about their company having technical issues. He goes and tells us he knows everything and he is a close friend of the mayor. So?! Does that mean you get to be hypocrite?!I got before and after pics of my car. They ran my car from West Hartford to Waterbury, then brought it to Torrington.

The guys and gals over at Elmwood Automotive are unbelievable - I wish I could get them 10 stars. My wife it a man hole without the cover on (thanks Hartford ) and it did some serious damage to the rear axle/cambers/suspension of the Honda CRV. Sometimes I think people expect too much out of certain businesses. Being in healthcare it's the same way. This shop is great with honorable people working there and of course people are going to leave bad reviews because they're at bad times and their cars have gone to h double hockey sticks. But personally, they went well above and beyond to help me out with my bucket. Chris, Joe, Tito are all great people and were great to work with and really helped me out. I highly suggest this automotive shop for all your body and mechanical needs as well as towing. BTW ladies, there's a very handsome man with daughters who works here. Who's single, yet not ready to mingle. Maybe one of you can change that!

Rude dispatcher. He cancelled on me when I called to ask the status of the tow truck arrival after I had already waited nearly two hours. I called another place in Hartford and they were there in 20 minutes.

Tom, Joe and their crew helped me out with some body work on my truck. The quality of the work was excellent, it was done in a timely manner, they held to their original cost estimate which was fair and they even did some additional work at no additional cost which they felt was required for the job to be done right. Cannot give Sergio and his team enough praise! They are responsible, honest and super competent. Great crew! When our 1+ year old Q-7 was stolen out of our garage in late December and recovered later the same day, in bad shape, it was towed to Elmwood Automotive. We were not familiar with Elmwood Automotive and were planning to have the car towed (again) to the dealer. Luckily for us, we decided to take a leap of faith and have Elmwood Automotive do all the work -- mechanical, electrical and bodywork. Best decision! Not only did they restore the car to its' previous condition in a timely manner, they handled all the interface with the insurance company. Thanks to them, what could have been a total nightmare turned into a positive experience. They fixed my car in February after it was involved in a hit and run. It took two months for my car to be fixed due to parts. When I got my car back it looked brand new. The same car was stolen a few weeks ago and I just got it bac on 8/4. It looks brand new. I loved the fact that they kept me informed and went above and beyond to help me. I am very happy with the service I have received.

Cant stress enough about how great the guys did on our lancer with fixing and painting matched the color and looks new. Car died, thought it was something more than just the battery based on Googling and the fact that the power still worked, only that the engine didn't turn over though there was still lots of electrical power.Called up towing to have car towed to dealership, but upon arriving, the tow guy suggested we try jumping the car anyway, and he inspected the batteries and noted corrosion, and he cleaned off enough and jumped the car, and sure enough, after a few tries, it started!He then suggested I take the car right away to get the battery replaced or serviced.I was so happy I didn't have to tow my car 10+ miles away to the dealership not knowing what the issue was, the tow guy really saved me a huge amount of time and headaches, very glad he took the effort and didn't simply just tow my car!Service: Battery

Late, approx 5:45 PM on a Friday nite, they took in my son's car in almost immediately. Diagnosed the problem, and took the time to explain what and why it effected the car's engine the way it did, what the repair would entail. Then fixed it super fast: bad O2 sensor. Price was way lower - less than half the (ballpark) price quoted at Pepboys - to diagnose & repair. Also had a good, down to earth, friendliness - so warm & welcoming.Joked with his guys about our written estimate from Pepboys. Sayin "We ought to charge these prices".This is the stuff on which our country was built, on good old fashioned hard work of independent proprietors, usein a bit of elbow grease, mixed with their own heart & soul, which succeeds in making our own neighborhoods strong and healthy.Service: Auto engine diagnostic

These guys are great. My power steering system failed and, after calling around to various locations, not only did they offer me the cheapest price, but they got the job done within 3 hours. They were also extremely courteous, very helpful, and unlike most other mechanics, they didn't try to upsell me a ton of unnecessary services. I'll definitely be coming back to Elmwood for the rest of the repairs on my vehicle as well as recommending them to my friends.

Last month(07/2021) I was involved in a car accident. One where I wasn't able to clear out my belongings directly after due to being put in an ambulance. I left my cologne, deodorant along with small.other things in the car. The deodorant and cologne was right next to each other in the passenger front seat. Whoever towed my car stole my cologne. If the cologne was cheap I wouldn't care . However the cologne is Christian dior and was worth $150. I had just left my mother's house after a shower due to moving things and wanted to go to my dads clean in my new car. The accident happened within 10 minutes of leaving my moms house. I know I had the cologne in that spot.� I checked my ride home that nights car and called the hospital again to confirm they didn't take it. But I had already known that I left it in the car. Way to kick somebody when they are down. Got into an accident in my new 18k car and they really steal my cologne? When I came to clean out my belongings the deodorant was still in the same spot along with everything else that was in the car. I did not lose consciousness during the accident.� I remember where everything was. Everything besides the cologne(gone) was exactly where I left it. The owner told me how "my guys have came across Playstations and xboxs and never stolen."..Yes because you can fit an entire Xbox in your pocket. I just wanted to get reimbursed. I filed a police report for this. Sucks how they kick a man when he's already down. The front desk worker Joe was very professional and understanding. The boss of the towing company had a condescending tone when I spoke with him about my issue. If you get into an accident especially in the west hartford area please have a family member or friend come clean out your car before it is towed. Something valuable may go missing and unless you have dash cam rolling even with the car off on the instead, it's your word against theirs. The owner is a crook. Whoever stole it will get their karma. I regret not telling my father to come to the scene of the accident to clear out all the stuff in my car. Dont make my mistake if you are conscious and able to call people after an accident.Edit 06/02/2023: also forgot to include they stole the front bumper off my car that I had plans to take back at the junkyard it was to be delivered to before being auctioned off. Bumper was in good condition and was only hanging off one side because the clips came undone (was rear ended).

Had to get my car towed to get my tire changed. Driver came, was rude and demanding upon arrival Then caught the dude going through my middle console. Tried to play it off saying he dropped his phone. (Bold faced lie). If you wanted petty change I would have given it to you. Oh wait that s right! I already tipped him for his services before I caught him too . Big guy wears a ear piece microphone and wears a dark baseball cap. Do not trust.

Driving to work last week I was coming to a red light and I couldn't stop at all. My brake lines went and my foot went straight to the floor. Eventually I slowed down and immediately called Elmwood Automotive. They came with a flat bed within 15 minutes and dropped me off at work. At end of business day I was picked up and brought to the shop where my truck was ready to go. I was very impressed with the promptness and customer service. The owner Sergio was very easy to deal with and his team went above and beyond to make sure I didn't lose a day of work and my truck was done promptly. Thanks Elmwood Automotive!!!! A special thanks goes out to Miguel and Joe!! Thanks guys.

The clutch went out on my motorcycle the other day. Had my insurance company set up a tow with these guys. This was probably the best towing experience I ve ever had. Insurance company quoted 90 minutes for arrival, but Naz showed up in 30. We got the bike loaded securely and quickly. Naz was super cool and professional throughout the process. If everyone here is like him then I d say it s a no brainer to go with these guys for a tow!

My experience with this company after my car accident was horrific. I was told by my claims adjuster to go to this place and pickup my items in the car and also obtain my plates. First of all the person whom was the front desk was so rude and I believe prejudice. I was told I could not obtain my plates from the car in which was totaled. The company made me sign a promise to pay in order to even have access to the car. I do not recommend anyone of color go to this place. They pass judgement on me because of my race. If your car is towed to this company please Beware if your a person of color.... BAD BAD........ People......

Never in my life I ll bring my car here ever again. I brought my car in because I need a new catalytic converter; come to find out my car need a more work than intended. I brought my car in on June 22nd and I stop every day to check the status of my car (because they always say they will call you but never do) every time I went I always got we re bringing in your car now or it should be ready by the end of the day . By the 4th day I stopped in I noticed my car hasn t moved from the spot they left it so I took a picture of it. On the 5th day my car was in a new spot on the lot. They basically had my car for almost 2 weeks. On the weekend of July 4 I was told I ll be able to pick up my car that Friday or the following Monday and the total cost of 14000 with parts and labor. I m called the shop on Monday July 5th to see if it was ready . Come to find out they were closed for the holiday. I called one of the managers and left a voicemail. A hour later he called me back and dropped 400 off for false expectations. I got my car back that Monday . After paying one thousand dollars to this company not even 2 days later. My engine light comes back on, other lights come back on. And my car still has the same issue. I was able to talk to one of the managers before getting my car he told me that my engine was on its way out (I have 130000 on the dash and I drive a Honda) that didn t sound right to me so brought it to 3 other mechanics and they told me what the issue could be and why this Company didn t even want to try. Lastly I believe they didn t put that much care into my vehicle because I mentioned I was thinking of trading my car in and getting something new. The only reason I believe that to be the case because the last time I spoke to one of the managers. He brought up the time I said I was thinking of getting a new car. I don t care if I was getting a new car; that has nothing to do with anything because I m still driving this one. So now I m out a thousand dollars and my car still isn t in the best shape. It s sad because I expressed to them that I will be driving from CT to NY for college and I really need my car to be fixed. Do you think they care? I would say no based on my experience with them. I will not recommend any of my friends to go to this shop ever again!

Be advised that the State of Connecticut prevents tow companies from charging any more than 60 days of storage. The first 5 days @ $25 per day and days 6 to 60 at $31 per day. Sergio tried to quote me $15,700 for 400+ days of storage. There are also limits to how much they can charge for towing services as well. Do the research, it could save you money.

This company took care of me as a person and made sure my vehicle was top priority. Fast and friendly service. At a very busy time they were there in no time to tow my car and begin the process of inspection and repair. They went above and beyond my expectations. I recommend them to anybody who wants the type of experience I described.

I highly recommend Elmwood Automotive. They have been taking care of my cars for several years and have done an excellent job. Never trying to talk me into other unnecessary services. Very reasonably priced. Joe and Sergio are just amazing!

This shop literally saved my life. My car broke down on 84 right outside of Hartford and I managed to limp over to their shop. I called 5 different shops in the area and the staff at Elmwood were the only guys willing to help me on such short notice. The whole staff was super friendly, and helped fix my car within 12 hours. Would definitely highly recommend.
