Todd, the person who is running this Auto repair shop is an unbelievable kind and helping person. He never charged people based on their auto knowledge. A very genuine guy and charged only for repairs and suggested for required fixes. The best place for the perfect auto service is Tech Auto. My 2013 Dodge Journey is still working like new after 150k miles with Todd and teams workmanship.

I just recently moved to Hamden Ct and I needed a local mechanic, I had the pleasure of being referred to Todd at Tech Auto.He explained everything about my particular problem, set an appointment, then proffessionally fixed the issues at a fair price.I would highly recommend these guy.

I cannot recommend this place enough. Fair prices and does services with integrity. As a female who navigates car repairs herself, I ve gotten my fair share of auto shops trying to swindle, disrespect, and talk down to me for wanting to understand the processes. Todd was so kind, giving me his time and attention despite packed schedules. I ask a lot of questions in order to understand my options and the work being done.Todd clarified each one with transparency and handled my inconsiderate probing about parts sourcing with a patience that I really appreciate. End result was repairs costing under his quoted estimate and done that day. I will be recommending Tech Auto to everyone and taking my business here again.Service: General repairs & maintenance

I recently moved to Hamden for school and I stumbled upon this place. I am so happy with all my services I have received. Tod is so honest, cost conscious, and just a pleasure to do business with. I value his opinion and he's helped me through many car troubles since starting school here. I would 10/10 recommend.The place is very busy, so some comments may talk about not hearing from the shop or about getting updates. Tod is one person, so I do my part to stop by the shop or call a few times if I want an update on my car if its been a little since hearing from the shop.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Tire rotations, Brakes, Auto maintenance, Oil change

Todd was great! The folks at TechAuto were able to quickly identify the problem with my car and repair the vehicle at a good price. I needed my car the next day for work, and they were able to get everything fixed right on time!

This is the best shop in town. I was new to the area and have had them work on my car 3 times. Once was for alternator, another time for electric work on my lights, and also for a busted exhaust system. They were super timely, knew what to fix l, and the prices were more than fair. They explained to me several options and were super personable as well respecting my time. They re usually really busy because it s such a good shop, but as long as you make an appointment you ll be set.Services: Electrical repair, Exhaust, General repairs & maintenance, Auto exhaust system replacement, Auto maintenance, Battery

My family has brought entrusted Todd with our vehicles for three generations now. The amount of knowledge, expertise and talent him and his team have for mechanics is incredible. He is trustworthy with his diagnoses and sets fair, unbeatable, prices. Tech Auto is trained with all types of vehicles (makes/models/years), and has successfully repaired my 2005 Toyota Prius, as well as my family s Ford Escape SE s with Turbochargers and Eco Boost. Some of these words are gibberish to me, but Todd is fluent in all auto language.I keep hoping Todd is apprenticing someone, and if not, I selfishly hope he never retires.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine diagnostic, Auto brake repair, Brakes

Todd and Tech Auto saved my life! Literally! I went to another mechanic that wasn t ethical at all and tried to take advantage of me. Telling me I needed to replace both axiles on my truck but that wasn t the case. Which would of costed me hundreds of dollars and it wouldn t of had fixed my vehicle at all. Which would of put my life in danger. Instead my rear wheel lugs were broken and welded to my emergency break & rotors. Todd told me my tire was so loose he doesn t know how I made it to him safely. Mind you I was driving around in my truck for weeks. On the highway and all thinking it was just my axiles. The previous mechanic said it wasn t a major issue and I can fix it later on down the road. I am extremely grateful for Todd! He was honest from the beginning and charged me a very reasonable price for the work that was needed to be done. We must protect Todd & Auto Tech at all cost! It s very rare you find people who move with integrity and honor. As long as Todd is in business he will forever have a client in me. I appreciate you from the bottom of my heart! My car had a flashing "Check Electric System" light on, which frightened me. I called Tach Auto, and they immediately guided me about what steps I could take. I went to see them soon after to verify that it would not cause me trouble on the road. I arrived and was quickly helped and guided about everything that was going on. I have known and used Tech auto for about 8 years and have introduced my family and friends because of my satisfaction with their job.Mr Todd, the head of the workshop is friendly, truthful and very fair with prizes and labor charges. I recommend him and his workshop for all vehicle repairs.

We ve taken our two cars to Tech Auto for the past 6 years, and have always been impressed by their honesty and efficiency. Every time the dealership recommends a slew of repairs, we rely on Tech Auto to tell us what is actually necessary, and have not been let down. It can be very difficult to find an honest, affordable mechanic shop, and Tech Auto is both. Thanks for everything, Todd!

We have been getting our cars serviced with Tech Auto for almost 7 years now. We moved to Hamden area from out of state and really lucked into meeting Todd. We have always found Todd to be a straight shooter who provides clear explanations and answers for issues. He has never advised us to take on additional unnecessary work which is very valuable. We strongly recommend Tech Auto.

I am so happy to see that Tod keeps going strong and people continue to love the service provided by him. We lived in the area for 3 years about 6 years ago and he was amazing to us. I can honestly say that he is the most down to earth, honest, punctual and all around awesome mechanic I have ever worked with beside my cousin. I could always rely on his help whatever issues I encountered with my car. He never tried to overcharge or overrepair. Highly recommend.

Great experience! Todd was honest, willing to take the time to find me the best deal possible and to stay open late because I'm a veteran (not that I took him up on that-but nice to know some people respect our military). Service was excellent and my car runs like new at 104,566 miles. I see why they are so busy and will return.

I used to manage fleet vehicles in my old job so I always had leverage to use for repairs on my own cars. Now that I don't manage a fleet, I was worried about finding fair and honest mechanic. Todd is the owner here, and he is the most honest and talented mechanic you are ever likely to meet. On just one issue, a leaking fuel line, he saved me approximately $3000 from a quote from the car dealership. They wanted to replace perfectly sound brake lines and the entire exhaust system (for access) and quoted $3300. The fuel line issue was repaired by Todd for $280.

I love this place! My boyfriend found tech auto somehow and they are the most reliable, honest, and inexpensive place I've ever been. I always feel at though i can trust Todd and his team when I go to tech auto and they never give me the run around. They really want to make sure that the job is done right, i really appreciate the fact that honest business like this are still around.

Forever a fan of this place. Todd is one of the most hardworking and genuine beings on this planet and his loyal base of customers speak for it. He always has a full shop, and will do his best to address your car needs as quickly as he can (that week) and his prices are the absolute best in town.

I was recommended to this mechanic by a friend. My car wouldn't start, so I called and asked if I could have my car towed there to be repaired. He said yes, so I had my car towed there the same day. He said he'd call to let me know it got there safely; he never did. I called a few days later to ask for an update; I never got an update. I called and left voicemails about once a week for 4 weeks asking for updates. I never heard back from him. I drove by to check on my car a couple times. Every time, it was sitting exactly where the tow truck had left it. He's completely unresponsive. If it's going to take over a month to get around to looking at my car, that's fine, but tell me. Don't totally ignore my calls. After 4 weeks of this, I got fed up and had my car towed to Keating Automotive. The tow truck driver told me another customer of his had a similar problem, waiting 7 weeks to hear anything back. It's very unprofessional. Keating, on the other hand, diagnosed it a few hours after it got dropped off and were very helpful. If you want to get your car back within a month of dropping it off, don't take it here!

Very good and Honest. Last week I had coolant leak and lot of smoke in the engine, luckily I was in hamden and went straight to Todd. Glad he checked it and replaced radiator with minimal cost and put me back on the road on same day.Correction: quality has gone very bad now

Tech Auto was recommended to me by three different people, all of them living in different towns. I figured I'd give them a try, and I've never looked back.Before going, you need to know a few things. They are always busy, and it's likely because they are one of the most trustworthy mechanics in New Haven County. There is not always someone manning the phones. Leave a voicemail, send an email, show up in person if you must. Just realize you may not get someone on the phone immediately.But the service here is second to none, the mechanics all seem to actually known what they're doing (unlike my previous dealerships...), and the prices are extremely reasonable.

I moved from out of state and after some research decided on Tech Auto. I have had consistently great service from them. They are exceptionally busy and may not always call back, but this is not a set back. Just take the initiative to call them and you'll see that it's not a result delay in service. They are honest, humble, personable, laid back and trustworthy. Most importantly, they are skilled and knowledgable. I've had them do minor repairs for no charge. I also drive an older car and they have given me advice on whether it's actually worth putting money into it to fix all the issues, recommended the best route for safe travels, and have always been willing to collaborate on what's in my best interest and not what's going to make them the most money. I always recommend them to friends and they all have had the same experiences. I won't take my car or any car in the future elsewhere.

Worst service I have ever received, at an auto place or otherwise. I took my car there in September 2010 to fix the steering column, on the advice of the good reviews here and elsewhere. It took them over a week to look at it, two weeks to find a column they thought would work, and two and a half weeks to tell me it didn't fit (actually I had to go there in person to find that out - they never picked up their phone when I called them, and they never took the initiative to call me). I made one phone call, to an out of state shop I trust, and got a steering column shipped to them within two days. They put it in, but forgot to change the oil and rotate the tires like I asked. It took another few days for them to do that. All told, I got my car back seven weeks after I dropped it off. Seven weeks! It's my only car; fortunately I'm a grad student and can walk to school, but it was terrifically inconvenient to do all sorts of other things.And... after all that, it drove horribly (shook from side to side at any speed over 40 mph), so I took it back to the out of state shop I trust. Turns out that the left brake was frozen on probably as a result of sitting in the Tech Auto lot all fall without being driven. Now the car drives fine, although, ironically, when Tech Auto put the steering wheel back on it wasn t quite straight, and the air bag is also disconnected. I will never go back.

Everyone wants to find a mechanic they can trust. Todd, owner of Tech Auto is that guy. He services both our personal and business vehicles and we wouldn't use anyone else. He repairs/replaces only what is needed, nothing more, nothing less, unlike the experience at other auto service centers. He is honest and trustworthy. You can confidently use Tech Auto for your auto servicing needs with no need to compare ever again.

Tech Auto is absolutely the most honest, most trustworthy and highest quality auto repair shop my wife and I have ever experienced. I bought a used vehicle from an owner without realizing a leak from the brake system of this vehicle. On my way back, the brake fluid were all gone and the brake completely stopped working, which almost killed me and hurt other drivers on the road! Luckily I managed to stop the vehicle on the grass land right beside the road without hurting anybody. The vehicle was towed to Tech Auto and the owner inspected it. He found that the areas underneath the vehicle were extremely rusted and a brake line was installed in an illegal way, causing the vehicle extremely dangerous to drive. The life threatening situation can happen anytime when I drive this vehicle. So he suggested me to return this vehicle with defected brake system to the owner and ask for the refund. He didn't even charge me anything for inspecting the vehicle. My wife and I thank him and his fellow a lot for their professionalism, expertise, honesty and high quality job. I will definitely recommend Tech Auto to any friends and people that need automotive service.
