Some of the nicest people working here. Came in for an oil change, got some new tires & left with a smile from ear to ear.Super helpful at pointing out which parts needed to be worked on in the future & incredibly kind. Wasn t super pushy about buying additional services, just gave straight facts. I ll be back! This location is wonderful.

I ve taken my jeep compass to Monro muffler Brake shop in Hamden twice now and each time my experience has been wonderful. The staff there is knowledgeable, flexible and goes out of their way to make sure that your car is well taken care of. I trust them with my vehicle and will be going back for regular oriole changes as well as concerns with my car!

One of the best shops I've been to. Lillian and Kevin are very knowledgeable and take the time to make sure you understand what needs to be done to your car and why. They even had Christmas coloring pages to keep my kids occupied which was a really nice touch! I'll definitely be returning here in the future and passing the word onto my friends and family.

The tires are inexpensive for my car, I go to them every year to get new tires on my car. Reliable and durable. Thank you very much for your service . The customer service is excellent as well. Edit: based on their response to my review, I wasn't clear, so, to summarize: great shop. I'll come back next time I need tire service.My original post:I've never called an auto shop this before, but they are kinda charming. They put out coloring sheets and crayons which kept my kid occupied. And they explained how they did not over tighten the lugs which, should be a given, but definitely isn't, and when you're stranded by the side of the road, with a kid, and a puny little wrench that came with the emergency jack, is nice. Also they lifted the car up without bending anything - again, should be normal, but, nice. And it sounds like they know their way around TPMS (again...nice).

A like this location. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. We have had gmultiple services done and given honest information on repairs needed or not needed. My son was also given an education on vehicle maintenance and the brake system on his vehicle.

If you would like mechanic shop to cause more damage to your vehicle, please bring your vehicle to monro in Hamden ct I had a friend of mine that took their vehicle here. And there are caliper End up coming off While my friend was driving down the road, causing a lot more damage.And if you want people to work in your car that are smoking on the job, go to the one on skiff st . I would never recommend this mechanic shop if you want a better mechanic shop to go to the one and Wallingford. That is a better location, much better mechanics there than the ones at hamden

Not a good experience. Brought my vehicle in for an exhaust leak. Arriving, there's no one at the front desk and after waiting for a few minutes, I went outside and around to the garage side to try and spot someone. No one was in sight so I called out for someone and in the back corner of the garage someone heard me and stood up. They didn't say hi or sorry, coming, nothing. They just looked at me like I was an inconvenience and slowly started walking up to the front desk. I met them inside and explained I had an exhaust leak, asked them to take a look, and while they were at it to do an oil change and rotate the tires.I left and waited for a call back. They called a couple hours later saying they couldn't fix the exhaust because it's a car with turbo. I'm sorry, what? You're a shop that specializes in exhaust repair, and you won't work on my vehicle because it has a very common component that's on a large percentage of vehicles. I came to pick up the car. They charge me $114 for an oil change, pricey for sure but whatever. What gets me is they wouldn't fix the exhaust and when I asked to confirm they did the tires, they said no they didn't because they didn't think they needed it. When I said well I asked you to, he just shrugged.Monro wasted my time. We are a one family car and it's difficult to arrange getting the car into repair. Now I have to find the time to take it elsewhere when it should have been done by the exhaust "experts" at Monro. What a joke. Don't bother with this place.

Monro Auto Service has always been my go to help whenever I need it. I ve been there a handful of time and they are always so quick to help. As a college students knowing that they are always there and ready to go make things less stressful. They always put their customers first and make them feel welcomed every time. Their customer service is impeccable and they have wonderful chat and are lovely people. Von was also a great help and a wonderful person to talk to as well. I ll defiantly be going back as I come to love the people and the company!

Lillian and team were more than helpful and were EXTREMELY knowledgeable, efficient and fair. I had a troubling concern with my vehicle and I felt very stupid for asking, and they made me feel welcome and offered the best return on investment. This is my first time at this location and they ve earned my repeat business. I guess o should have listened to my wife earlier since she comes here for her services.Recommend this location to everyone.

Monroe muffler on Skiff Street in Hamden has excellent service! I have been going there for approximately five years and I ve never had a problem. They always do a full spec safety check and they even rotate my tires for me! Paul who is the manager there is quite knowledgeable and friendly and they are always efficient. I highly recommend them for your oil changes and auto service needs!

The service here was over-the-top extraordinary. Paul the manager went above and beyond to help me.They even tried to get me a rental but they didn't have anything available. I was going to miss my appointment. So Jacob actually gave me a ride to my appointment and pick me up after my appointment when my car was done. Five stars. I Truly and personally recommend anyone go here for great customer service and Value and honesty 62 Skiff Street. Paul & Jacob 5 stars

They were balanced wheels and find out c-cut on the front wheel, plus they said the back wheels also has to be changed due to brake pads and rotors problems. For my car 4 wheels would cost 2000 plus labor. They lost one nut from one wheel. I came home and my husband bought the used pair and go to changed for 300$ total. The most important thing only front wheels have to be changed due to c-cut, the back is totally ok! Don t believe in words always check it out based on your budget!

What an amazing crew. They went above and beyond getting all four rotors and pads changed. They didn't give up trying to break free a stubborn bolt. In the end my problem was solved and I was back on the road. Great job skiff street Monroe!

Paul the new manager Is great. I was referred there by my brother and took a chance. He was super helpful and honest. Also when I was there he helped another customer save a bunch of money by being very honest and telling them there wheels were not going to fall off like another shop had told these older people. I ended up going there for new tires, alignment and he helped me with a screw in my truck tire.

Went in for brake issue. Customer service is great, friendly, hence two stars. However, after leaving the issue is not 100% resolved. I changed my front brake pads and rotors and after the fact, the brake pedal went to the floor before actually braking. After taking my car in, they seem fixated on the rear brakes. After an hour, they said the issue was resolved and that they needed to adjust my brake shoes ( rear brakes). Seemed odd to me because I didn't touch the rear brakes.I left the shop and yes, there was some slight improvement with the pedal, but it still took more pushing before brakes braked and I felt resistance. I called the shop and explained I didn't feel the brakes worked correctly. I asked if they bled them, he stated they did, though I'm not sure they actually did. Before bringing it back, I called again to see if I'd be charged again. They told me they would have to.In the end, I decided not to go back. Did not feel it was worth my time if I was going to be charged again. What bothers me the most, is that they felt the issue was resolved the first time. I don't know how a professional mechanic could've thought the way the brakes worked was okay. You shouldn't have to push that far down on a pedal before the brakes start to brake. Period. The way they are now is like night and day with my other vehicle which is the same model.Lastly, when I brought the truck in the ABS light was on and low tire pressure light was on. They didn't even do a courtesy tire pressure fill or note the ABS light. Either they aren't attentive or don't go above and beyond.

I had the front suspension on my Cadillac XTS replaced at monro I m Hamden 1/20, cost me $550. Car ran great afterwards except for a new noise and response of the speedometer became wonky, and a noticed a grease stain in my parking space. On 2/8 I went to Executive Chevrolet in Wallingford for an oil change and my usual service writer asked me to come to the service bay to see something he pointed out that the speedometer, ABS wired was incorrectly routed and now was being pinched in the control arm, the wire now fraying. Then the wheel well insulation was pulled back and was rubbing against the tire which was missing a few plastic inserts to hold in place and lastly the Axel boot was torn causing grease to sling out into the wheel when driving thus causing the drips in the parking spot and the click noiseBrought the car back to monro 2/9 and asked the issues above be corrected at their expense as I ve incurred damages. Tech took the car and within an hour I was called with all finished and that they would not be replacing the axel, that I d have to pay myself. I told them that wasn t right and I ll be by to pickup the car.Within minutes of terminating the call, I called American Express and initiated a charge back for the amount paid for services as the damage now to repair the axel is in excess of $700-$1200. My time to repair it is rather short because the longer I wait the more severe it ll become and interfere with the AWD leading to even more expensive issues.

Service, Results & Time are outstanding at this location on Skiff Street in Hamden CT. The customer experience from whom I believe is the manager Ms Lillian is professional, knowledgeable and pleasant to the point you feel like family!!I bring my two vehicles and my Mother's vehicle to this shop cause of the awesome service rendered at this location!

My 19 year old daughter (Quinnipiac Sophomore). Had a flat on Sunday. She brought the tire before class on Monday. Not only did they put a high speed patch on her tire. They checked all her tires and brakes and taught her how to reset low pressure indicator. Simple $28 repair but they provided awesome customer service and reassured her that her car was safe! I would highly recommend Monroe to any student away from home!!! Great old fashioned Honest customer service.

I took my car here for an oil change, great service. A few months later I needed new brake pads and rotors, and another oil change. Again, the service was great. Didn t take long and the price was reasonable. I highly recommend Monro.UPDATE 6/22/20Came here again for another oil change and Tom informed me that I needed an alignment, which I could tell I did because my car pulled in one direction. In like 30 maybe 40 minutes the oil change and alignment were done, my car doesn t pull anymore and the price was very reasonable again.I ve said it before, I ll say it again I highly recommend Monro. They literally do nothing but good and honest work on your vehicle.

Other than the guy at the front desk being nice. This place tried to get me. I go in thinking I needed an alignment and they told me that they couldn t align my car because the alignment wasn t the issue. He said my outer control arm and my tire rod wasn t busted and he was looking up parts for me. I told him him to hold up because the warranty I have covers some things. So I didn t let them do my car. Brought it to my dealer they looked at my car and said who told you that you needed those parts? Come to find out those parts where fine it was 2 totally different parts that my warranty covers!! People be careful out there they were gonna cost me so much money but I m glad I m smarter than that!!

Simply put, everyone there was kind helpful and I had a generally great experience. I talked to Paul, ask for him. Originally, I had gone to two other places just looking for an oil change. Those two places were rude, unhelpful, and basically ignored me.When I finally went to Hamden Monro, they were about to close. Paul apologized to me for closing at a normal hour, showed me how to make a appointment online - but really, Paul just listened to me vent about those other two places.Second time around, the whole team did amazing work, were clear and honest about the work and pricing, and they even stayed late to make sure I was taken care of properly.Go here, ask for Paul. He's good people.

I came here for an oil change a few days ago, and was so happy with the service! (I think the poor reviews are fairly old, from when there was a different manager.) It is also super easy to make an appointment online through their website. Chris, the manager, was very friendly and respectful, and explained to me the pricing options without trying to sell me the more expensive one. They do a free inspection with every oil change, too! While I was waiting I saw him talking with another customer, who needed a part that was out of stock. Chris told the customer he could order the part for them (which would take time and be more expensive), but actually recommended that they save money and go to another shop that would have the part. I was taken aback by how trustworthy and reasonable Chris was, which I have not often found elsewhere! I will return to Monro next time my car needs anything.
