I found myself on a Sunday morning with a completely flat tire. I was hesitant about going to Pep Boys due to negative reviews I was seeing. So glad I didn t listen to them. The customer service was excellent and honest. The price was on point and I was in and out in 45 minutes.

I now understand why it may take longer having service completed at Pep Boys. They are forced to take an unlimited number of appointments that are made on line. Very frustrating for both, the customer and the Pep Boys. The service I received this time was for a tire repair. It went well and the tire has been great. I do wish Pep Boys corporate people would not stack up the appointments for the local shops. I understand it is all about making money, but long term, it may lose customers.

I normally give 5 stars no matter what I get done at car places because I'm too lazy to do my own work in the winter. But this time I was struggling with a 2 or 3 star review here because even though the quality of work was solid, it took far too long to get done. Had a service for a 4 tire install that took 6.5 hours with a scheduled appointment for first thing in the morning at 0800 when the store opened. Only one other customer in front if me. Saw that "estimated completion time with for 1230". Went to check at this time where my vehicle was untouched and in the same spot I parked. Normally, I wouldn't care because delays happen; but I had an oil change across town at 1400. When I went to investigate if there was an issue; the Service advisor said that there was no issue and he didn't know "how the service was put in the system" even though I told him I had an 0800 appointment and it had been (at that time) 4.5 hours. The other front desk advisor informed me that if I'm following online, the "blue update bubbles" would be filled in as my serviced progressed. This never happened during the my vehicle service. Car was done two hours later resulting in my having to cancel the oil change and make arrangements for a different day. Frankly, I believe they simply forgot about my car since I left after handing over my keys. Was I inconvenienced? Yes. Would I have my car serviced here again? Also yes, but will plan on it taking all day.

I went for a simple tire change which I've done different places before but due to last minute preparations I went to pep boys an honestly I will not return! I wait 2an half hours for 2 tires to be changed an they spilled a random liquid on my passenger seat which they diddnt tell me, they tried to clean it while I was waiting around( i wasnt told about) but left me with a soaked seat which my wife (as well as my self was very irritated) about once I left an ofcourse right as they were about to close so I couldn't immediately complain about or mention to them.. I will be back tomorrow to speak with them but will NOT RETURN for services

I went in on a Sunday knowing I needed tires, and thinking I had at least one bad tie rod. They were HONEST and said nothing was wrong with my tie rods. I just needed 4 tires and an alignment. Great deal on high quality tires. I heard bad reviews, but I left this pep boys rather impressed.

I showed up with a significant tire issue on a Sunday with a garage full of cars. Roger was friendly and personable and understanding. I waited and they got to me in fair time and took good care of my car and gave me a good deal. I m happy.

These guys have been our go to but this time it took almost 5 hours to do a max two hour job and that brought the car to 800$ for brakes and one new tire. Was sitting in the shop for a bit before they even worked on it. Do it yourself before you bring it to them. Should ve had my boyfriend do it. Now I know though!

I had a flat tire. I called and they told me to bring it in, in about 1 hour. When I got there they took care of it right away and I was out of there in less than an hour. The service was GREAT! As we all know the price of everything has gone through the roof. The repair to the tire cost $50! That was a surprise

SCAAAAAAMMMMM ARTISTS.I'd give ZERO stars if I could. Got there first thing in the morning when they opened at 8. Had an appointment. Was the third person through the door. Went on for just front brakes (pads and rotors) and ONE new tire. Figured a MAX 2 hour job and about $500 out the door... they tried charging me for stuff that I didn't bring the car in for and total was gonna be about $1,340. I said no no no. I came in for one new tire and pads and rotors for the front. That's only about $300 in parts. Then they said that for just that stuff the total would be about $880. I said that's impossible. I can do all of this stuff in my driveway in less than 2 hours and only came here because it's winter and I'd rather not do this stuff in the cold. There's no way that it's an $800 job when it's literally a MAX 2 hour job for a backyard/diy mechanic that's taken you, a "professional" shop 4 1/2 hours complete. Sorry but I'm not paying for THREE AND A HALF HOURS of your guys' smoke breaks and jerk circles. This should have been done by 9, 9:30 and it's now 12:30 and you're trying to charge me an extra 3+ hours of labor. Nope. Hope this place gets shut down so they can't scam anyone else.

Had a appointment for 9am. For 4 new tires and alignment. Took 8 hours to complete then another hour to wait for the guys to drive my car around after they finished. Just stood around while my car sat finished in the garage.

Had a tire blow out on a Sunday and the Pep Boys are the only professionals open. Got a brand new set for buy 2 get 2 free and they even stayed open past closing time to ensure I was on the road again same day. The best around.

Driving home from a New Year's trip to Rhode Island from New York, our 13 year old car lost power and was sounding pretty terrible getting into Connecticut--on New Year's Day. Not only were the guys here at Pep Boys open, but they were able to check out our car despite being busy, and fix the issues, letting us get home just a few hours after we planned to. These guys took a terrible situation and fixed it quickly, and for that we're immensely thankful.

I had an appointment that should have only taken an hour and four hours later i was still sitting there waiting while they took smoke break after smoke break. Then they tried to charge me extra for parts I didn t even request or need. And no one communicates with you on what s being done. This place is a joke and the employees are nothing but scam artists. I will never go back and I will make sure I tell everyone. They don t even deserve the one star!!!

I purchased tires online, very easy. When I showed up for the appointment I was not in the system, but wait! It turns out I was a week early, my mistake. They still got me in with no issues.

Great prompt service and easy local option. I suspect I could have gotten the same work done cheaper elsewhere but hard to beat the convenience, especially once the vehicle was already on the lift for the inspection

This place is guaranteed to scam you out of your money, please read in full and DO NOT give this place your business. My wife took her car here just over a year ago to get an oil change. About a month later, my wife went to check her oil using the dipstick and the oil was brown. Pure brown. My wife s car takes synthetic oil. I had my grandfather, who has worked on cars his entire life check the oil and he also believed the oil had not been changed based upon the oil being BROWN. When we called Pepboys to air our concern, we were asked why did you check the oil in the first place we took her vehicle to another shop, got the oil changed and that shop confirmed the oil was old.My mother, not knowing any of what transpired took my sisters car here to get her rear brakes and rotors replaced on a 2009 Chevy Impala last month. They charged my mother a grand total of wait for it . 1500 dollars. I called area shops and was given a quote of 600 dollars. My father, also not knowing the issues brought his truck to pepboys 3 months ago to get an oil change. While working on his truck a day or two later, he noticed the oil filter had not been changed. He checked the oil, and discovered the oil appeared old and the oil wasn t even full my father brought his truck back to Pepboys, caused a bit of a scene and they agreed the oil filter hadn t been changed. Pepboys conducted a free oil change that day. Finally, a year and a half ago I brought my truck to get an alignment done. Several days ago I noticed extensive wear and tire on my inside of my front tires. The wear obviously didn t occur overnight and I also don t put a lot of miles on my truck. I called Pepboys to voice my concern and spoke with a man who said his name as Bob . Bob told me alignments only work for 90 Days . Huh? Bob blamed the issues with my alignment on the Roads . I don t know where Bob drives but the roads in this area are just fine. Bob then went on to state all the other issues wrong with my truck and told me to bring the truck in. Ya, no thanks. At this point, I will be referring this Pepboys to the BBB. This is just my experience with this shop. Do not trust these people, they will scam you out of your money. There multiple other shops in this area you can give your business too. Avoid this shop, you will not regret it.

Spent over a thousand dollars on tires and road hazard warranty. Ran over something that caused my tire to go flat. Made an appointment to have it fixed. An hour and a 1/2 after my scheduled appointment I am told the tire is unrepairable and I can buy a new tire prorated for $130. I will never come here again. 2 hours later I leave having spent $130 thanks to buying road hazard insurance.

Overall positive experience. Called them last Friday about tires. They ordered the tires I wanted and said they should have them by Sunday/Monday. I was told I would be called. I called them Tuesday to find out the tires were there, I just hadn't been called. They offered to install WED but due to my schedule I had them installed THU Again, overall positive, no upselling tactics. Not sure who the other reviews dealt with, but I would definitely recommend to others for tires.

Not happy with the service or should I say lack of service. Pep boys ordered the wrong tires, let me sit in the waiting room for 2 hours before telling me. When they finally ordered the right tires and I had to come back a second time they let me sit in the waiting room for over 3 hours to put the tires on. Poor service, not enough people working, dirty facility, dirty restroom.

Made an appointment week in advance for oil change and regular check up, I arrived on time, spend 3 hours waiting for my car, i got told that I need car back because im going for work and they didn t do anything they asked me to come later and finish the process for free. I have made another appointment, they finished the work and just gave me 10% off ..

Industry standard seems to be 1 hour for complete tire install. This Pepboys has taken over 6 hrs. Still not complete as of this post. If possible I wouldn't even give a star at this point.

Very bad customer service. Wait in line for 20 min then person at front desk will take a phone call before you making you wait another 5 min. Terrible communication skills at front desk. Bought tires here a couple years ago which was an ok experience but seems like they have gone downhill. Will never go again even though I live a minute away.

I have only been here once and I can confidently say that I ll never go back. I have been treated so poorly and upcharged by a bunch of employees who I m not sure have even graduated high school based on their customer service skills. I ve heard stories about them damaging other people s cars and I can honestly say that I m not surprised. I heard from someone that they hit the curb and damaged the front of the car, something that they have since denied. Would you really want to trust your car with people who lie and try to scam you? I wouldn t.

Never ever go to this place if you have even a tiny bit of respect for yourself or your car. The technicians took horrible care of my car and don t even know how to park it when they re done. The whole front of my car (a sedan) was crunched on the curb, completely bending my entire underskirt on the underside of the car. The manager Bob did absolutely nothing to fix the situation and made an embarrassment of himself and the entire store. I politely suggested that they replace the cheap plastic piece on the underside they had damaged and he denied doing any of it and completely refused the idea of it. Truly embarrassing, how is this place even still in business? Once again never go there if care about your car whatsoever, they re a bunch of morons.

Stay far away from these crooks! On October 12th, my wife broke down in Mystic, so she had her jeep towed to their garage because it was close and had fairly good reviews. Later that day, they called her and said it was a bad fuel pump and would cost $2,164 to replace. She called me and asked if I thought that was reasonable because the salesperson seemed to be over explaining the complexity of the job, which was setting off red flags for her. After I did some research, I found that it was a $465 part, and it was an approximate 3-4hr simple job that can be accessed by removing the rear seat.KBB has the price list range for this job listed between $1,100 and $1,300 for the job to be performed at the dealer. I called Falveys in Norwich to request a quote and they said they would do the job for $1,040 but recommend we have them perform a $140 diagnostics first to confirm that this was indeed the issue (very reasonable). When I called Pep Boys myself to tell them there must be some kind of error they started overly explaining the job to me as well claiming that the entire exhaust would need to be removed and gas tank dropped in order to perform the job, all of which is not true. I told them I wanted a better price, or I would contact the BBB. They asked that I call back in an hour, and they'd see what they could do. When I called back, they said that it must have been a computer issue, and after working with their IT department, they could get the price down to $1,560. Which is still 50% more than the dealer.Needless to say we didn't want them to have our business so we called Ceravolo's to have them tow it to Falvey's while on the phone with them we asked if they could do the repair themselves because Falveys was booked up for a few days and they agreed. Now, it's time for the kicker. After Ceravolo's spent about an hour going through it, they said it ran fine. It started up when they loaded it up at Pep Boys, and it started right up when they got it back to their shop. They drove it for 20 minutes while being followed with the tow truck and said it had no issues (they did tell me the wheel bearing might be on its way out but nothing to do with ignition or running). They had no idea what caused the issue but said it certainly isn't the fuel pump. They recommended I pick it up and call them if it happens again. 2 weeks later, and we haven't had another hiccup. The moral of the story is that Pep Boys tried to take advantage of my wife and scam us for $2,164 on a repair that wasn't necessary and should have been half the price if it was. Stay far away!

Anything more than a basic oil change, emissions and tires, don't bother. And even then, don't bother. The way we were treated at Pep Boys has compelled me to write my first negative review. So, we are in the middle of a military move and one of our vehicles suddenly lost break lights. We called up every shop near us and explained the situation and our urgency but unfortunately no one could guarantee they'd have time. Pep Boys said they could and would look at and have it ready by the end of the day. So we brought it over and dropped it off around 12:30. About 2 hours later we get a text notice, we were out running errands so we decided to stop by and see if there was any progress only to see the car exactly where we left it. It was 3pm now and we were worried it wouldn't get seen to before closing time but were once again told that it would. This whole time we were talking to a man named Bob who had a very "yeah whatever" attitude, it felt very condecending but we were on a time crunch and didn't have another option so we left again. Came back at 6:30pm after waiting for a phone call that never came, they close at 7pm, it still hadn't been looked at. At this point I was ready to take the car and leave after having the whole day wasted. This time we talked to a guy named Rob who at least wasn't a prick and promised it would get looked at first thing in the morning if we left it with them overnight. We show up 8am the next morning, it's still not in the shop and their mechanic is late. Once again Bob is giving us the run around telling us "we'll get to it". We wait there patiently for an hour and a half, meanwhile other customers are coming in and Bob even steps outside to look at another customers vehicle while he wouldn't step foot away from the counter for ours when we asked to show him the issue. I felt completely ignored and belittled. When my husband tried to speak to another employee to get a concrete answer on if our car would be seen to, Bob overheard and said "you can't keep doing this!". What? We just wanted an honest time frame and when we repeated that he said "I'll call you". At this point I was beyond irritated and pointed out that we never received a call the day before but before I could continue he snapped back with, "do you want to just take your keys and your car somewhere else?!" and thrust the folder with our keys and work order at me. My answer was "yes!". Never again. If it couldn't get worked on then fine, I would have understood, but then JUST SAY SO! Don't string people along with false assurances!

Ted has amazing customer service and is a true professional. Will continue to send my Chevrolet, Mercedes Benz s, and Dodge here for regular maintenance and repairs and enjoy prices cheaper than the dealership with the same quality work. Caleb has been my tech on multiple cars I have brought in and is the textbook example of honest and diligent.

I called at 9:40am to ask if they could patch my tire today. The employee said yes to come this afternoon. I asked if I need to make an appointment for it and he said no just come in. I drove be over a half hour on a donut tire to get here only to be told they could no longer patch my tire today due to an employee not showing up. This is very unprofessional and they employee was quite rude about it.
