They worked some holiday magic for me!! I called them Wednesday morning (the Wednesday before Christmas!) asking if there was anyway they could fix the pressure switches in my car so I could leave by noon to make it to NJ for a special holiday event ("an impossible ask" as a few other car places told me before I found this one online). They worked their holiday magic and fixed my car in time!! And they were transparent about costs, calling me each time BEFORE working more on the car, and eager to help me out! Very nice, friendly, and honest workers. Highly recommend!

Had an issue the Toyota dealership told me was my transmission. I Talked to Jim at Basals since I've had good luck with him in the past. He took my truck and said he could fix it with a 500$ fluid change with additive. I figured 500$ to save from a $5000 transmission was a good value. He took it for the day and called and told me it was probably not the transmission and that he thought it was a cylinder 1 misfire. Got it back it it was exactly what he said. 30$ coil and 20$ spark plug and my truck is back to normal. Can't stress enough how conscientious they are and went out of his way to make sure I didn't spend money where I didn't need to. Also the woman who answers the phones is probably the nicest woman you'll ever talk to!Service: Transmission

Honest, knowledgeable & professional as stated many times it's all true.I had a great experience at this shop & will be coming back for all my transmission needs.Had four other shops suggesting to replace the transmission & these guys fixed it in two days for a fraction of the co$t. Thanks guys!

I had to get my transmission rebuilt, Jim was great. He even stayed late to finish my truck one night. They were wicked easy to deal with over the phone and I didn't pick up a hint of being annoyed when I would call for updates. Every call was directed straight to the boss and he'd pick up immediately when the nice lady transferred the call. They did a great job on my truck too. They road tested it 4 times total. Once when I dropped it off, twice they brought it back in the shop for a tweak here or there, and the last for the last test drive. Thumbs up

Always can depend on Basal s. They replaced my transmission a few months ago and recently I had my radiator blow. They took my truck in fast and had it running and ready the next day!

Great honest service. My RAM 2500 needed a new transmission, Jim explained the options, I chose the rebuilt one with a 3 year/100,000 mile warranty and it is working like a top. Fixed right the first time.

Jim worked on my car for several months, through no fault of his own. Unfortunately he was unable to make the repairs as not only do Subaru transmission stink, but Subaru is extremely uncooperative with allowing outside garages access to parts. He returned the car with a rebuilt transmission that works fine but needs replacing with a Subaru transmission in order to meet emission requirements. He not only made the car driveable, HE GAVE US ALL OUR MONEY BACK!! He felt that as he was unable to make the repairs required he could not accept our money. We tried to at least split it with him - after all he spent a million hours on the car and put in the rebuilt transmission at his own cost - but he refused. This is a man you want working on your car. He is so honorable, I just can t say enough good things about him.Service: Transmission

About a year and a half ago got a 2001 jeep transmission rebuilt here. Well last week it had a problem and cooked itself. I can't speak highly enough about this place. They took it in and repaired it with no issue at all under warranty they provide and got us out the door very quickly for the amount of work these transmissions take to build. A good shop isn't only one that does good work but it's one you can trust to back up what they do if the unforeseen happens. Tony also kept us in the loop the whole time and was extremely professional including pointing out a problem with the front driveshaft that we got fixed while it was out. Appreciate this shop a lot for standing behind what they do with no problems.

So hard to find a mechanic you can trust. If you value that go here, not to mention no rip off pricing. They could have told me I needed $2000 worth of repair and I would have believed them from the way my transmission was acting up. Quick play around, no charge and I'm back on the road.They changed out my clutch plates about 7 years ago, great price and no issues, even did some extra for price of the parts.Will always come back here for transmission issues.Service: Transmission

I bought my 1995 Corvette with a brand new transmission that I bought from "Monster Transmission" which they had sold to me broken and were refusing to fix. Jimmy and his crew did an amazing job rebuilding the transmission and it has treated me very well. Basal's is extremely honest and upfront and they really know what they are doing. Basal's basically gave me a brand new transmission as Monster did a terrible job with making their product. I will be bringing my Corvette back to Basal's to swap the differential out. After my regular mechanic suggested that my old minivan was history because of a serious transmission problem, we sought a second opinion at Basal. They suggested a fix and the price was both fair and appropriate. They did the work as estimated and the car ran perfectly for 4-5 years afterward. The car has just been put out to pasture recently (for several non-transmission issues). Basal does more than transmission work and they do it well. They're great people who do skilled work.

I showed up at their shop with no appointment and asked if they might be able to give me an evaluation of my car's transmission issues. I would have understood if they said no, but without hesitation, Jim hopped in the car and took it for a test drive, then hooked up an analyzer to retrieve any trouble codes. The whole thing took less than 15 minutes from when I stepped through the door. And even though the news about my transmission was bad, I still left there feeling good that I had been treated with respect and given professional advice. Now THAT's the way to do business.

Honest, friendly and knowledgeable! What more can you ask for. If you have transmission/differential or transfer case problems, there is no one better than Jimmy, Tony and the rest of the guys at Basal's! They've been at it forever. All the Auto shops send their transmission their to be rebuilt.I've been in the automotive business for 35+ years. I'm in a LOT of shops all over the state and have never heard anyone say anything but great things about them.

These guys know their stuff. My family has been coming to their family for all their transmission work for years. Between personal attention, super fair prices, great warranties, and did I mention knowledge? I would go nowhere else, and this coming from a guy who has worked in the business for his entire life, and no longer lives in the area, but they are worth the extra mile everytime.

Good transmission shops are hard to find. I was referred here by trusted car guy, and boy was he right!!! A1 customer service, and a genuine care for both the customer and vehicle. I live 100 miles away, and will continue to go out of my way to do business with them, as they have gone out of their way for me. Feel free to connect with me thru google if you have questions, but it's the only place I will recommend.

I just want to say a HUGE THANK YOU to Jim, & the Staff @ Basal Transmission in Glastonbury CT for fixing my truck; Your reputation for being one of the best, is SPOT ON. My husband is extremely particular when it comes to sending our vehicles to be fixed; he only goes there, and only recommends them. My truck is running awesome, and I couldn't be happier. So here is yet one more recommendation, if you need transmission etc. work done, go see them!

It's a shame you can only give 5 stars, Basal's is a six! Jim and crew have rebuilt a couple of different transmissions and t/cases for me for various projects and NEVER have had a problem....truly one of the good guys!
