Great auto mechanic. Service is always prompt, reliable and accommodating. Pricing seems very fair and competitive. They don't try to sell me things I don't need. Repairs are completed in a timely manner. The owner seems like an honest and trustworthy individual. I plan to return the next time my vehicle is in need of service. Highly recommend. Thanks!

Kurt promptly performed the emissions test of my vehicle, after giving me an estimate of the time it will take to complete the test (5 minutes). Easy in and out. There is a live camera feed in the bay (required by CT emissions) and the waiting area is clean, featuring chairs and magazines laid out neatly.

Went to Swanson for my emissions test. No appointment was necessary. The owner was super nice, as was the secretary. 10 minutes. In and out. Will be returning there next time. 10/10

Highly recommend. I ve taken my vehicles to Kirt for four years and will continue to. I m glad to have an honest mechanic shop I can trust. My visit was an oil change. My daughter referred me. It felt like an odd day, this day. Short staff. Call outs. The staff that was there didn't show much attention.

The owner Kurt is a very wholesome guy. He will treat you right, just be patient with him. They do great work, they always get things fixed the first time. Never any problems with this.

Not happy with the service. My car came in for hard steering issues. First they said it s your steering rack. It ll cost 1600$ to fix with tax I was told. Then they said before I picked it up that it looks like it s also my left lower ball joint. They said they would replace it with no charge for the labor but 25$ for the part. pick up the car and for some reason it went from 1625$ to $1829. I said ok at least it s fix I don t mind paying it. I pick up the car and noticed I was still having problems with the steering wheel. I bring it back and they at this point guessing and throwing parts at it because then they said oh it s the power steering pump. I said ok do it. That was another 377.05$. I go pick it up and guess what. Problem is still there. I brought it back. I said I really think it s the right lower ball joint. Owner said nope. A day later they call me and said oh now it s the right lower ball joint. So I said ok do it. So that was another 231.84$. So that s a total of 2,437$. Now I m getting clunking on the left side front, found oil residue all over the car dirty shop rags in my car oh and now I m getting water in side the car when it rains because it looks like who ever replaced the power steering rack decided to not put the steering shaft cover back right. These people put a transmission 3 years ago and they did a great job but unfortunately the tech that did it has left. I really loved this shop until I had to spend this amount of money and still having issues. I honestly don t recommend this shop. I did years before. But now they don t diagnose like they use to. They just keep throwing parts at the car. Especially if they see you re saying yes do it. To spend that amount and still have problems is really discouraging. Feels like my car was mistreated and not taken care of.

Honest and trustworthy while delivering quality professional service. You can't go wrong here. That combined with being able to get a loaner so I can maintain my busy schedule makes Swanson Automotive my go to place for car repair.

Love everything about Swanson Automotive, from the auto service provided, to the customer service counter woman. Honest and trustworthy. Just a note, they do not have a mechanic on duty on Saturdays so an oil change is best for during the week.

I highly recommend Swanson Automotive!! Kurt Swanson truly cares about his customers, treating them with respect, care and integrity. My Mom has taken her car to Swanson's for years (as did my sister and I), and Kurt treats her so well (she is right down the street so he gives her rides so she doesn't have to wait at the shop). This is a company that truly understands what customer service is all about. In fact, the whole staff there is top notch!Service: General repairs & maintenance

First, I have to say that I am THE MOST skeptical and untrusting when it comes to my cars... always have been, based on bad experiences from previous garages.Swanson Auto, however, has eased those feelings and I can not say enough GREAT things about them! From the first phone call to schedule our appointment, to the pick up of our vehicle after repairs... nothing but EXCELLENCE.Kurt was kind enough to bring my fianc� home after he dropped off our vehicle, and also pick him up to get our vehicle. Our car went in for a tune up (first tune up since buying the car new in 2018), and it runs BETTER than when we drove it off of the dealership's lot.Kurt, I thank you for getting our car in immediately and doing such a fantastic job. Being a woman, it's incredibly difficult dealing with ANYONE when it comes to cars. Even the dealership where I bought the car will constantly upsell me and the oil changes there are $80+ for some unknown reason. So a friend referred me to his mechanic, and I'll never go anywhere else. The owner is super friendly and very dad like. He was sweet in telling me I needed new windshield wipers and gave me a heads up that with the cold coming, my tire pressure monitor might come on. My oil changes are $40 and take 30 minutes when they're not jamming. I cannot recommend this place enough.Service: Oil change

I always had my emissions done there; hassle free and respectful staff. Recently I had them do a small job, which I normally would have done myself, and they did a great job for a fair price. I plan on returning whenever I need more work done.

went in for emissions testing around 12:30 on a saturday. woman at the desk was extremely rude and upset that i came so close to 1. after pulling my car around she came back and told me something was in the way of my vin number so they couldn t test my car. turns out it was a small piece of foam that just had to be moved. also the vin display was clear and legible on the sticker on the side of my door so not sure what the issue was. will not be returning.Service: Auto emissions testing

phenomenal customer service, got a flat on vacation and we live 5 hours way. they weren t able to service but was able to recommend a place they personally use. Also took the time to provide a address and contact number for their recommendation. Really appreciate the transparency.

We have used Swanson's for years - never been disappointed or felt we've been ripped off. Most recent visit a case in point: my GTI suddenly lost all its pick up - could barely get up to speed - no engine light on. The car was seriously not functioning well. They could have come up with something major wrong with the car and I would have not been the wiser. Instead, it turned out a valve was catching and not opening correctly - so they cleaned and greased it - charged me only for a half an hour's labor! The car was back to normal. Went in for emissions on a Saturday morning. There was no wait to speak of and I was assisted and on my way out within 10 minutes. Woman at the counter was extremely friendly and cordial. Place was very clean - both the office and shop in back.

Honest, hard working staff. Been with them since they were at their old address on E Main St, before moving to their new bigger facility They didn't go up on their prices. Everyone's so polite, & respectful. Marcio, & Kurt, worked on our cars, & did a awesome job. Quote you the price before even working on your vehicle, after the diagnostic tests. Don't overcharge. & they'll give you a fair price. Definitely will always bring our autos to them.

I have been to Swanson Automative several times. Their services are very good. I have gone for regular oil change multiple times. Also, I had to tow my car once when my car broke down. This garage is honest. Our check tire pressure light was on, which my wife mistook for the check engine light. At some point the warning light went off, since this warning can be a bit fickle in a Subaru Forester. She dropped it of at Swanson and they were nice enough to give her a ride home for free. They also ran tests but could not find any thing wrong with the vehicle and there was no charge. All that was wrong was our tires needed air. That is honesty. THESE PEOPLE ARE HONEST, and FAIR!!!I am SO PLEASED with this Auto Shop! By accident, by chance last winter they were the only shop open in all of New Haven, as every shop we called had closed due to the blizzard. The owner, Kirt, stayed open for us. I called him on the way to ask him to please stay open, we will be there. He checked our emissions, and shut shop.Forward to 8 months later, and my muffler is shot. Crack in the pipe at the manifold. Took it to the dealer, took it to Midas, took it to other shops.Then I took it to Swanson Auto. BY FAR THE MOST REASONABLE. NOT EVEN CLOSE. One place were 3x the price, another 5x, some 10x, and one even 20x. Brian, the Tech did an amazing job with my car and it sounds like an electric car now. It purrs like a little kitten now. Thanks Brian, Thanks Swanson Auto. Thanks Kirt. Amazing work.PURE LUCK! I was so impressed with Kirt's humbleness, honest demeanor, and overall attitude in the middle of a blizzard that shut down the entire state, I asked 'Do you sell cars here?' As we were looking and he seemed like a trustworthy guy. I wanted to buy a used car from this shop. He said, 'no, sorry, we are only a repair shop.'Service: Exhaust

I went to Swanson s because my family recommended them and also they had great reviews. I needed to have my emissions tested and when I went there, I walked in and was out less than 10 minutes later, they were super friendly as well!

This is by far the most honest & fairly priced mechanic I've even done business with in my 20+ years of driving! Kurt & Julie (the owners) make you feel very comfortable and welcome at their business. Its almost as if they treat you as you'd treat a life-long friend. They're not lacking the business- I believe they honestly care about you- not just your $!! I would recommend them time & time again to anyone who asked for a good mechanic- the only lie would be that they're not good- they're EXCEPTIONAL! A truly rare find in this self serving world!! In a class all their own.UPDATE 2020- I guess when your a good, honest person with a great work ethic that has integrity and wants to keep his business in peoples good standing it must get kind of boring. .I'm kinda kidding- I have nothing to add but another validation that Kirt & Julie (and all the guys that work there!!) are STILL AT IT!!Keeping the customers coming back time and again due to their honest and fair service that they SHOULD BE very well known for & highly praised as their businesses, building and client list just keeps growing and NOTHING is sacrificed or no longer important just because they're extremely busier than BEFORE!! My experiences at Swanson Automotive in East Haven has been nothing less than outstanding. Quick service, good prices, and quality service are not easy to find everywhere, but those can all be found at Swanson Automotive. On top of that, the well-mannered customer service stands out at this automotive center as well. I honestly wish I knew about this garage earlier before I faced a collection of bad experiences elsewhere.

All I can say is wow. I chose this shop based on location and great reviews. The reviews were accurate - professional service at reasonable prices. Marcio installed a new exhaust in my old Honda Civic and I couldn't be happier. If I were local I'd have Swanson do all the work on all my cars! Thanks Swanson, thanks Marcio, thanks Ed!
