Horrible experience. Went for emission test, locked my car doors and left the keys for the guy. When my turn came, the guy pulled the door without unlocking the door and broke my car handle. When I spoke to them, he mentioned that he broke it and asked me to wait until Monday to talk with the owner. When I called, the owner said bottom line I am not paying or repairing for your handle and I am not responsible , but his employee was responsible!

Very expensive oil change. They used synthetic oil before giving me an option. Go here for Emissions testing only.

Their emissions service is very fast and efficient, but prices for repair work are extremely expensive. I recently brought in my girlfriend's daughter's car for an emissions test and it failed due to the check engine light being on from an evap leak. After paying $130 for an evap smoke test which indicated a leak at the fuel pump they wanted $500 to replace the fuel pump flange and o ring (deposit required before they would begin the work). The parts came to about $100, which left a labor charge of $400. Also they stated there was no guarantee that this would fix the problem since the fuel pump bolts were frozen by rust, and supposedly if they broke, the whole gas tank would then need to be replaced.I declined the service and simply pulled up the rear seat which provided access to the fuel pump through a small panel and applied a fuel resistant sealant to the fuel pump and flange, which took less than an hour and fixed the leak, and the car was then able to pass emissions. Even if i were to unbolt and remove the fuel pump, then replace the flange and o ring myself it wouldn't have taken me longer than 2 hours, so i don't understand how they came up with the extortion price for the labor.

Went for emissions test, they were friendly, quick, and efficient. I would certainly use this place again for an emissions test and will be trying for my next auto repair. Will follow up with review then

Absolutely one of the best mechanics myself and any family member or friend have been to. Really try to accommodate the customer any way they can. More than fair prices and quick efficient work. Definitely recommend if you need a mechanic or something simple like oil change or emissions Hamelin and Sons is your place. Not too often you find a mechanic with the personality and being for the customer like here.

Incredibly pleasant experience! Not only are the workers knowledgeable of their trade, but they are honest and truthful too. The team are very efficient in their diagnostics and were able to explain ans solve the problems I've brought to them over the years. Through their diligence towards Quality work, they've earned my loyalty. I've since moved to litchfield County, but I will continue to bring my car to Hamlins.

It was our first time bringing one of our two cars to Hamelin's and the service from Mike was outstanding! He is very realistic in telling you exactly a rough estimated on the time when repairs will be able to be completed as well as the possible maintenance that may need to be done in the future. This was our first time but not our last going to this garage. This will definitely be our go-to place for both of our car repairs when needing any future repairs or maintenance done. I went today at 12:40pm to get my mother's car tested. I think it was Josh and Evan that told me no problem getting it done before they closed at 1. Evan even gave my nephew the air hose so we could get the tires more inflated. Both guys very courteous and kind! Would recommend in a heartbeat! ( sorry if I got the names wrong, I was a bit stressed)Service: Auto emissions testing

Overpriced for oil change. I paid less than $30 at another place I couldn t remember or I would have went there. I paid $50 here for regular oil change ! Even my parents and grandparents asked me why I went there for oil change, they knew it was overpriced as well lol. They just go there strictly for emissions and so will I from now on. Gets the job done but couldn t give me a specific time for an appointment. And was kinda rude on the phone just because you scheduled too many jobs for the day than they can handle and keep track of, doesn t mean keep scheduling for the day.

First time experience, My car has been running roughly for quite some time now. I took my car here for them to check everything and tell me what needs to get done. They were able to get my car in and out in ONE day, quick and affordable. Professionals for sure. Sweet and to the point. I will be coming here from now on. Definitely recommend them.

The commitment to the customer experience here is impressive and unbeatable. Fast, responsive, honest professionals that you can actually trust. The difference between this place and others is astounding. The dealership where I bought my car a few years ago does free oil changes through the service department, but they give me the run-around and don't have my interests at heart with any other service issues either. So much that I actually chose to forgo my "free" dealership oil change recently and paid for it at Hamelin & Sons instead. And I would do it again. I've also had my emissions test and gotten my brakes done here. When I returned with a new transmission issue, they took the time to helpfully explain it and what my next steps should be since they don't do the particular work I need. It was clear that they were acting with customer interests in mind and not trying to make a quick buck off me. For these reasons, I will be a customer for life. Why is it so hard for other places to have this business concept/model? Be more like Hamelin & Sons!

I ve done every inspection here and it is always fast efficient and straight forward. Just bring your $20 cash and that s it in and out in less than 15 minutes.

Really greedy.Doesn t allow customer to buy the parts at the store and have them install it because they want to overcharge you on the parts. They also refuse to replace brake pads only? even if rotors are fine and don t need to be replaced. Don t take your car here unless you want to pay hundreds of dollars more.

Brought a modified subaru with full catted downpipe, receipts and paperwork from past inspections, they failed visual for "no cat" even though I specifically have a catted downpipe for passing inspections in mass and CT.The older guy (father) was pretty nasty with me and assumed I was pulling his chain like the other 'thugs with modified cars' he probably gets.I understand them being careful, but if they just listened to me and put it on a lift for two minutes, they would see its an expensive catted downpipe.

Amazing customer service! My husband and I had a few complications and they still managed to help us. They got the job done quick and done well. We will definitely refer our friends and family here. Mike, the gentleman who explained everything and helped us with our car was knowledgeable and sincere but most of all, i left feeling confident in the work that was done.Service: Brakes

Been going here for emissions the last 8 years. It's usually pretty quick! 3 stars because the older man behind the counter is rude, has never once in the 8 years acknowledged me or ever made eye contact. I won't go to them for anything other then emissions because of him and happy to take my actual business anywhere else!

Took my Odyssey for emissions during my limited time Lunch hour from Work. Very Fast and friendly Service , like always. They are the best and reliable in Bristol Area and have gained my trust in my last 7 or 8 Years that i have been taking my cars there. They are always Upfront and Honest.

Hamlin and sons is an excellent automotive repair shop. They are really nice people. They take extra care to make sure that you understand the repairs to your car. By their own words you will never get handed a bill with charges that you didn't know about. Everything is up front. I really like them.

There are only a limited amount of places to go which do emission testing. I've been using Hamelin for years and never faced any issues. With little wait time I've been able to bring my cars down without any appointment and have the test done without any hassle. Given its a little shop, I wouldn't expect the waiting area to be very fancy but they do give a sitting area with TV, wifi and coffee.

Getting rear brakes and rotors and an oil change done very informative so far and better prices compared to where i checked before. Took me in last minute and worked with me while i figured out if i was going to have it done or not. So far no problems and seems like a very good local shop to support.

Good fast service for emissions.Car repair is way overpriced. They did work on my Mom's car and quoted a price of $875, picked up the car and the bill was $1366.No calls to see if she was OK with the higher bill. Just the shock of getting it when picking up the car.

I have started bringing our cars to Hamelins after the death of my long time mechanic. I have had only good experiences thereI just needed a battery, I called and they told me no problem just come on in. I was able to get in same day. I found Dave Hamelin. Very nice and helpful. Thank - you. Will continue to bring cars when ever need work
