This is a must stop! There is a lending library on the porch. The lady who works there was so sweet and friendly with my kids. There were activity books (free) for the kids, maps, free sunscreen station, gift shop, bathrooms and free coffee and cookies.

The staff here were a delight! The offered us hot coffee ( a welcome treat after the terrifying drive there) then told us hairy stories of the best of ouray, before sending us on our way with a game plan for the week. We felt cared for and the information the team shared was priceless. Thanks for sending the postcard. It eventually arrived in the Southern Hemisphere! It was a real treat for the family.

The people here were very helpful and knowledgable! We learned a lot about the history of Ouray and the best places to see on our trip there. They had plenty of maps and brochures to get ideas on things to do and all of the volunteers were fantastic in answering our questions.

One of the best visitor centers around! The volunteers are very helpful and kind. There is plenty of literature for the taking. The gift shop is well stocked with unique-to-Ouray items. There is always a full vat of ice water and a tray of cookies at the ready. The bathrooms are downstairs and clean. There is a cute deck outside with bistro chairs and one of the best views of the surrounding mountains and the hot springs pool. We especially enjoyed Ms. Mary - who helped my daughter with the town scavenger hunt and was truly a blessing. So sweet.

If I could rate this 10 stars I would, and it would be because of Paula Demke! So SO very knowledgeable about EVERYTHING. I bet the other employees are just as good, but when I come back, I m waiting until she s available to talk to!

I guess this visitor center was helpful, but seemed like they just suggested everything that we already knew about. They don't really ask us what we were into or what type of activities we liked. Was hoping they would have told us about something different.

Awesome customer service! Quickly found all the directions I needed for the must-see spots in Ouray! Don't drive through without stopping...and especially to see the Box Canyon Falls and swim in the Hot Springs.

We stopped at this visitor center and it was so great. The gentleman was so knowledgeable and informative on all the maps and trails. The environment was super friendly with nice clean bathrooms and had coffee and cookies for the visitors. This is a definite stop if you're in Ouray.

Very nice, bright facility with all kinds of information on things to do in the area. Bathrooms downstairs were clean. The gentleman we talked to about where to Ebike from Ouray to Ridgway was very friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and just warned us about road conditions on CR-17. The lady who worked there tried to completely discourage us from riding it, making it sound like the road had been washed out. (Because she lives on that road and based on the bad etiquette of previous Ebike rental riders). The road was great and we rode all the way to Ridgway and back.

I have never witnessed a nastier, ruder, less helpful volunteer than Paula. My wife and I went in to get some info and some maps. After she "helped" a few people before us, she starting "helping" us. My wife left midstream. I left soon after. My wife was visibly upset and I asked her what was wrong. She said that the lady was TOXIC. That is the perfect word to describe Paula. Her attitude, her condescending approach, and her misinformation. Later I ran in to grab a map and heard her in her glory. I talked to the misinformed couple when they left and they felt similar to us. Paula was instructing guests to avoid outdoor activities (many of which are free) and instead was directing them to paid, mostly indoor activities. This is Ouray Paula!!! I respect the work that volunteers do, but surely the City of Ouray could do better. Much better.

I came out to get jeep tickets, now I want to move there! Being new to Colorado, gives me the opportunity to explore the state. Even from a far distances off, I could see the beauty in the mountains. The local town is equally as beautiful and so are the people. I was able to stock up on some camping gear that I had struggled to find (Lucky Find). I know my mom is going to love the town and we are planning on heading back for the Octoberfest and get a hotel. I also LOVED the Wing Co. I love having vegan / vegetarian food options. That is a huge win in my book.I look forward to seeing you guys soon!

The girl working helped me more that I'm sure she was required to but she went out of her way to make sure that my move to this state goes as smoothly as possible she gave me resources for healthcare Pediatric Health Care housing and also job listings that are local and within walking distance and she was willing to do more if I needed I wish I could remember her name but I know that she works Wednesdays and Fridays for sure and she is one of the best and friendliest people I've met here and she helped me so much.

Attendant was helpful and eager to chat about the area. Restrooms were clean, but downstairs and tight. Great photo art of the area displayed for sale. Also a wide variety of maps.

I had an easy time reaching the right person who responded to my request in a prompt and courteous manner. Nice people in this town! In the above matter, I sought help in reaching vendors in Ouray who'd be willing to carry my new book, Planet of the Goats (Part 1 of The Legend of Mordecai Sackett), a book that features Ouray as a historic landmark and as the setting of a new novel called 'Planet of the Goats'. I am mailing you a copy and hope that you will want to offer it to your members. Thanks!

Contacted lane's victorian on this site for a honeymoon rental. They changed our rental location to a their cabin property without notice or regret for their stated record keeping error. They offered no recourse beyond refunding our monies. We recommend against renting through them for this reason.

I was wonderfully surprised at all the information provided by this visitor's center! What a gem!!! I happened to stop by and learned about all the other options that was available to visit and see that I had no idea of. When I left I was so excited to plan the rest of my visit around the information that I learned from the very friendly and helpful staff.

A great place to stop and stretch the legs. The pond is really neat. Ouray is a gem hidden away in the heart of the Rocky Mountains with plenty of history

The employee offered a very enthusiastic welcome to everyone that entered, but that enthusiasm seemed to wane fast as you wandered around and then had questions.

The Ouray visitor center is currently closed for remodeling. There is info about local attractions and hotels posted on the door. The sign says that it should reopen in April.
