*** Update: They didn't call the next day with updates. I finally heard from them at 3:30pm when they told me the work was done. I have my car back and it seems to be running fine, so the work was good. They were always very polite, both on the phone and in person, even if I wished there had been more ongoing communication throughout the process.I've had my vehicle repaired here a few different times. We usually wait a month for an appointment, but the prices are better than the other shop in town which is also always booked out a month. Communication is often poor but the work is usually good. However this week has been a real challenge. We dropped our car off Tuesday morning bright and early. We were told the work would be done by the end of the day, or the following morning at the latest. No one called us to tell us otherwise so we assumed that remained accurate. We gave them all the way until Thursday morning, a full 24 hrs beyond the longest they said it would take, before going to get it. When we arrived to pick up the car we were told that a part had to be ordered in and that it wouldn't be ready until early afternoon. So my husband dropped me off at work and returned home. No one called us all day so around 4:15 I called them to check on the status. They said they were finishing up with it and would bring it to me at work very soon. I finished my work at 4:45 and sat waiting. By 5:30 I still hadn't heard from them so I called them again and was told they nicked the radiator with one of their tools and now need to replace it with a new one that will (hopefully) be delivered tomorrow. So I sit here, having already waited 45 min after finishing my work, now having to wait another 60 min for my husband to pick me up. My husband drove me to work this morning, a 90-min 72-mi roundtrip, and now has to pick me up this evening, another 90 min and 72 miles. What a waste of our time and money, all due to them not proactively reaching out to keep us updated on what's been going on throughout this multi-day process, which was originally only supposed to take a single day. I get that things happen and expected timelines can't always be met, but I'm very frustrated and disappointed that my husband's and my valuable time and gas mileage in our backup vehicle have been disrespected by the shop neglecting to initiate basic communication with us. I've asked them to please call me regularly throughout the day tomorrow with updates. We'll see what happens. It would be great if they'd give us a discount on the work we originally took it in for, given this fiasco. I'll update this review when we finally have our car back.

They did a great job with my truck and were flexible with scheduling it to get fixed. They fixed my truck for a far better price then anyone bided the job for in the San Luis Valley!

I absolutely love the folks here. I brought my car in and I feel like they are one of the few shops to take me serious when talking about my vehicle. I don't know a lot about cars but I know enough about my Honda.The service and communication has been wonderful.

We couldn't have been more fortunate! Our battery light went on one hour out from Monte Vista during a road trip from AZ. Matt, his wife, and his team were nothing but gracious and efficient. We literally "cruised" in on our last bit of charge as our alternator had failed. They were in the middle of managing a backlog of customers, a sick child, and insurance quotes for their new facility and yet they still managed to source the replacement and get it installed same day so we could continue our journey. Thank you all!!! We did end up enjoying the town of Monte Vista for a few hours. We can also recommend the Rio Grande Motel as they were equally accommodating to our circumstances.Service: Auto maintenance

1200 miles from home and low break fluid light comes on going down Wolf Ridge Pass. AAA recommended this shop. We were there right away on a Monday morning. They got us in quickly, the service was top notch, we were back on the road by 4PM with a new caliper, rotors and pads. Breaks are working great and we have piece of mind! Took my ol mustang in, to have new heads put on the engine. And some other things done to get the car road ready. They didn't do half of the things, I was charged for. We were vacationing near Creede when my engine light came on and threw a code that I had a bad injector. Amanda took my call and worked me into SLV a busy schedule. Diagnosed and confirmed that it was an injector, they had me up and running in two days giving us time to run trails before heading home in a few days. There are not enough fantastic things I can say about these folk!! My starter gave out on a Friday morning (when I was supposed to be at a Farmers Market an hour away). I found one in town and figured I could get it in myself.Ha ha.I called these fine folks and asked if there was SOME way they could get the truck towed and get the new starter in??!! Less than 2 hours later IT WAS DONE!!THANK YOU MATT!!

Highly Recommend San Luis Valley Auto Repair (SLV Auto) in Monte Vista CO. Sept 2022 was traveling from Texas and my '09 Ram 2500 Diesel (322k miles) got a cooling system leak. Was referred to SLV Auto from a local resident. During a busy harvest season, SLV Auto got my truck in the shop on a Monday afternoon and out on Tuesday with a new water pump and lower hose. They are courteous, responsive and communicate very well. Pricing was fair. After the repairs, I've been driving the truck daily without any follow-up issues. I'll use San Luis Valley Auto Repair again and would recommend them without reservation.Services: Auto water leak repair, General repairs & maintenance

SLV Auto picked up my 1970 4x4 and service is greatso far. They know what they are doing , how to do it no hassles. VERY excited to finally get my truck fixed after 4 years of BS from 2 other so called repair shops!!!!! Will follow up when it's repaired. Thank you staff . Very helpful!!!!!!!!

Matt and Wayne helped us when our car broke down and we were stranded in Monte Vista. They were able to look at it first thing in the morning, diagnose it right away, order various parts from several different stores, and get us back on the road in just a few hours. Amazing customer service, professional workmanship, and quality repair. Would be our mechanic if we lived in this little mountain town. Definitely recommend.

These guys are the best! Saved me when my old 70's van was being exceptionally difficult. Matt knows his way around a carburetor, which is getting rarer by the year. I wish I was local so he could be my mechanic all the time. Honest, kind, fast, fair, I really can't say enough good things about them

These guys are straight shooters. They are passionate about their trade and are honest as can be. I wouldn't take my car anywhere else in the San Luis Valley. They are usually around two weeks out and cost a bit more, but I take comfort in knowing they do things right. I took my 03 Impreza in for an ATF flush and they addressed an issue with my front differential. When I got my car back I it drove smoother and the howling stopped. They catch things most mechanics would glimpse over or ignore. If you take pride in taking care of your ride, then I highly recommend SLV Auto Repair.

These guys checked out our overheating truck on a Friday night close to their closing time. We'd done every repair We knew how to do but it wouldn't make it over a pass w/o overheating half a dozen times. They brought out their scope and in 15 min cleared the bad codes and we are back on the road! Thank you So Much!!
