Good shop, both Nick and Zach seemed knowledgable and explained things thoroughly... showed me parts that were bad and explained why they needed replaced, etc. I'm used to doing most of my own work on my vehicle but had a road trip coming up and a fluid leak and knew the transmission was overdue anyway so just wanted to make sure it got taken care of properly. As someone who works on his own vehicles was a little surprised at the price on labor but I think that is true of all mechanics and I just rarely get to experience it... I at least didn't feel hosed (funny since they replaced a hose, guess you had to be there) or taken advantage of. Thanks guys.

If I could give it negative stars I would. They don t stand behind their work or warranty. Owner has a very bad attitude and is very defensive. A very bad experience from the beginning. After reading Zach s response I fell I need to respond to his misrepresentation of events and my actions. His shop replaced the transmission in our car just over 3 years ago. The new transmission has under 20,000 miles on it and is already going out. My wife took it in one month after the 3 year warranty and they looked at it and claimed they couldn t find anything wrong. Two months later we tried to sell the car and the garage looking at it couldn t even drive it into the garage without noticing the slip in the transmission. The offer was lowered by $5000. At that point I decided to take it back to Zach s and not sell it. When I dropped the car off they immediately started giving reasons why it wouldn t be under warranty and proud of the fact they didn t charge us for the last time they looked at it. I will admit I became angry and raised my voice but I did not throw f-bombs around or berate the receptionist. I did question what they did the first time they looked at it and they became very defensive and argumentative. He wanted to know why my wife didn t bring it in since she was the last one that was driving it when there were problems. I stated she wasn t comfortable doing it because last time she brought it in he made the comment Maybe it only has problems when mom drives it . Zach got defensive and accused my wife of lying. He gave me the keys back and said he was firing me as a customer. I asked him why he wouldn t stand behind his work and he went into a tirade, asking if I go to work every day which I said yes, then asked if I expected to get paid every day which I responded I own my own business so I don t expect it every day. I don t know where he got the idea I am a home builder but I m not. Just one more false statement in his response. I do give a one year warranty on my products and have worked with customers outside that time frame to make sure they are satisfied. He stated he had to put some limits on it or he would go broke. When I left I said I would be posting a very negative review to which he responded he would come after me with his lawyers.I acknowledge it was one month past the 3 year warranty but less than 20,000 miles were the new transmission which to me should warrant some concessions from the shop who preformed the work but I guess not. I was told by Fowler Honda that I needed a new transmission and they highly recommended Zack s. I took my car to Zacks, and they told me my transmission was fine, but my engine was functioning poorly, possibly because of a faulty catalytic converter. In the end, I did very little business with Zack s, but they could well have recommended a bunch of work I didn t need and charged me for it. Honest group of mechanics!

Zach and his crew are amazing to work with. I was in need of something better than a stock transmission for my truck and they delivered. Nick stayed in touch with me to let me know what was going on and they were even abel to fix an issue that was not related to the transmission but was a lot easier to fix with the transmission removed. Thanks guys.

Rebuilt the transmission, replaced clutch, pressure plate, etc on my 1991 Toyota Pickup. No surprises, great communications, fair prices, quality workmanship by professionals. Truck is now good for another 150,00 miles....Service: TransmissionService: Transmission

Amazing experience. Took the time to show me my old parts and explain why things happened rather than just say here is your bill. Super nice owner and staff. My truck shifts and drives as smooth as butter on a bald monkey now! Worth every penny I paid.

Zach is a transmission guru. I've had my Ram 2500 here a few times to diagnose small problems and always value their advice. Unfortunately when my transmission died on my truck I was out of state, otherwise I would have brought it here. They rebuilt the trans on my friend's F250 a few years ago and it's still driving great.

This shop is one of the most honest and caring around! Nick was SO helpful with all of my questions (as well as my family's) as I know nothing about cars. At the end of the day I had to make the decision not to get my 2013 RAV 4 fixed and needed a new battery to get it home. The team got in so fast and didn't charge me an additional fee to install it! It was a really good experience despite the circumstances and I'm so thankful!

Needed the Transmission Control Module replaced. Straightforward customer service and fair pricing. I ended up needing to go back because of some electrical issues with the transmission system. They diagnosed it as a deeper electrical issue that they could not handle. Told me that it was best serviced at a dealer since car manufacturers limit the information available to general mechanics. Great business and as a Mechanical Engineer, I would recommend them to anyone needing driveline services.Service: Transmission

Zach is a very honest and fair mechanic and businessman. Rare these days!! I highly recommend him and his shop. I don t know if his prices are the lowest or high, but i trust they are fair and know the quality is worth what he charges.

I went in to Zach's today, described my problem, and not only did Zach give me free advice on how I could fix my issue myself, but he also gave me free rubber o rings to finish the job. I just can't recommend this shop enough. They are world class and Zach is really just out to help folks out. It's great to see businesses like this still exist.

They are very thorough and treat your car like their own. Having a local shop run by local mechanics meant much more pride in their work than just in the parts. When our truck broke down, they understood that it was more than transportation to us, but memories. Zach s staff rebuilt and put it back in our hands quicker and for less than shipping in a new transmission. I highly recommend them.

Very happy with the work performed on my lifted Jeep Wrangler. Had my axle rebuilt and re-geared after another shop failed to install gears correctly. Zach is very knowledgeable and explained everything to me clearly. He even helped me expedite the process because I needed it back quick. Price is reasonable and work is high quality. Will definitely come back for future repairs.

Zachs transmission was above and beyond professional and stuck to my estimate and finished my truck in a decent amount of time. They kept me updated on what was being done and kept me open to other options to help. I will definitely be back and recommend to others. They really seem to care about their work and spent time at pickup filling me in and making sure I understood all of what they did.Service: Transmission

Zach guided me through the decision in great detail informing me of the reasons for every aspect of the rebuild as well as other work that made sense to do at the same time with the engine/transmission exposed. The shop is very well run and Colt, the service manager, is professional, friendly and knowledgeable. I had estimates from two other shops that didn't seem to understand anything about transmissions and would have used a completely rebuilt one from another vendor as opposed to Zack's where they used upgraded components to fix the specific problems associated with my van.The van shifts as smooth as new. I recommend the shop highly.

Zach is very knowledgeable and works hard to describe what's going on with your vehicle.I had a full overhaul of all the "soft parts" (seals and gaskets) of my 2011 Toyota Tundra transmission and replacement of a bad shift valve. The total price was cheaper than I thought it would be and everything is working great since the overhaul. The team worked hard to get things done quickly and also work around my schedule as much as possible. I would highly recommend to anyone needing transmission repair in Longmont or the surrounding areas.

Before I found Zach's I sent my car to a regular mechanic that quoted me between 2400-3900 for a repair depending on if the whole transmission needed to be rebuilt (and also gave me information that sounded fishy and seemed to somewhat contradict what I believed to be true). I called Zach's transmission on the phone and Zach himself was gracious enough to jump on the call to speak with me. By talking with him I immediately knew this was someone who is an expert in the field of transmission work & a pro at mechanics. I sent my car on the 16 mile towing trip and Zach's came back with a total quote of 844$ because no rebuilt was even necessary (diagnosis upon agreeing to do the repair was free). I am truly grateful that there are honest & hardworking individuals like these at Zach's that are willing to provide a vital service to the community. The respect and dedicated work demonstrated in helping me care for my own car's needs is the same way that I approach my own business. Thank you so much Zach & the team for treating me with all of the fairness and decency I had hoped.

This was absolutely the worst experience. My $4000 estimate became a $6500 final bill to replace the transmission in my Chevy truck. They took 37 days to finish the job - who doesn't need their truck for 37 days? Absolutely the worst! Stay away from this business! He told me that additional bushings for the rear would be about $200, and 1 or 2 hours labor. His work wasn't very professional since I had leaks from the transmission cooler and the pan gasket when I got home. The floor shifter he showed me was $320, but He charged me over $500 on my bill. He told me to come down to take a look at the car, but since I was down to one car that my wife used, I didn't have a way their since he had my truck! Just a terrible experience and WAY, WAY overpriced for the quality of work. I could never recommend this place to anyone.

I had never been here before, they were able to get my old Jeep in the next day. His mom took me to work in her personal vehicle, since the company one wasn't there yet. They honored their quote despite some miscommunication...a rare level of honesty. We had a great conversation at length about my vehicle and recommended shops in town (and reasons to avoid others) for other smaller jobs. Beautiful shop, and it was nice to briefly meet the owner even though he was hard at work in the back. All their articles on the wall were true for me, and I was very happy with the experience. Super knowledgeable and I recommend them to anyone

Unfortunately I purchased a real lemon from a Longmont used car dealership. I asked around for advice and many people recommended Zachs if I wanted the best 4X4 & transmission shop in Colorado. The service that I got when walking into Zachs was outstanding. Zach himself was knowledgeable and kind enough to advise me on the best way to get my Xterra back up and running. I had several issues with a TCM that I purchased myself for the job. Zach and his staff went above and beyond to assist me with the TCM and the rest of the transmission build.Zach and his staff are very knowledgeable with years of first hand experience. This is the only shop that I will use for work that is above my skill level.Very fair pricing and clean, trustworthy work!

Zach's is the best transmission shop in the area, hands down! I am a repair shop owner who does not rebuild automatic transmissions, and I had never heard of Zachs; I ended up with a malfunctioning rebuilt unit from a competitor of Zachs, and we could not figure out why it would not work properly. Zach spent hours and hours of time diagnosing and repairing the vehicle at an unbelievablely fair rate. I would not use anyone else, these guys are great! Their service, attitude, and above all quality are second to none. Thanks again Zach.Simple Auto Solutions, Boulder CO

These guys are absolutely amazing! I took my car in for what I thought was a transmission problem but ended being something else. They set me up with a highly trusted mechanic down the street from them. Awesome customer service. They provided me with the best experience I've ever had with a shop. Keep up the great work guys!!

We had the transmission rebuilt on our '03 Honda Odyssey and just came from our 500 mile check. Zach and team are great to work with! They did a great job on our rebuild! Will refer and would take another vehicle to them.

Zach's was recommended to me by friend who's a "car guy". Now I know why. Zach and his business it seems is a rarity in my experiences in automotive repair. They stand by their work and I've recommended them to many people now because I want everyone to know of this incredibly valuable resource when you need repairs done on your car and you don't know anything about cars.

Although I have not reinstalled the transmission into the car yet the Customer Service that I received from Brant and Zach was great. I have to say that I was not impressed with the mechanic. He was being extremely rude and I was not impressed with the way he treated me. First I didn t quite back to the double doors that he had wanted me at so he was yelling at me to do so. He could have been having a bad day I guess, but being a customer it was not what I was expecting or to be treated this way. He also, was questioning me as to how come I had lightly sanded on the transmission and I told him that I was cleaning it up so he did not have to work on a grease dirty transmission. My friend that came with me got extremely annoyed with him and said some words as he walked off. I am an old street rod builder so what I had started doing to the transmission was to clean it up and deburr it so that when I got it back I could finish and paint it. The thing that bothers me the most is he deliberately ground off some initials that I had stamped into the transmission. I have been wrenching on cars since I was nine years old and I was taught that you initial your parts when taking them apart. This does two things for you, first it verifies that it is my part and second that if it is stolen I have a way of identifying it to the police. Yes, I do have pictures of where I initial the areas of the parts so that I can provide them to my insurance. Call it and very old way of micro dotting your parts. In my opinion the mechanic had no right altering something which did not belong to him in the first place. I am not very impressed with this guy.I will do a follow up after I install the transmission back into the car.
