They dragged out the process. Something that should have taken a week took six weeks. They make it so that you can't talk to their adjusters unless you have the repair shop on the phone. They were so unresponsive and sent the wrong part (supposedly by mistake ) which sent the repair shop over the edge because after that they refused to work on my car, so I had to find another repair shop, which only added to the delays caused by American Auto Shield.They give you the run around, make you talk to customer service reps who have zero authority to do anything in the hopes you'll give up and they can get out of paying the claim. Then, their rental reimbursement is measly. They made it seem like they were doing me a favor by approving five more days of rental coverage due to the delays, but the part arrived two days after, so now they are only covering two days (because apparently, they think the engine got replaced the same day it arrived and the car was ready to drive home that same day too) despite having caused WEEKS of delay.Do not give these people your money. There has not been a single positive or encouraging interaction with them once a claim was filed. You'll feel disrespected, cheated, and your intelligence insulted. They truly ARE that bad.

This company employs adjusters who know nothing about the mechanical inner-workings of automobiles. This is not my opinion. This is 100% factual. They often hire individuals with a background in insurance (collision), and they are the ones adjudicating your claim. If something doesn t sound right, it may not be that the person is trying to screw you over but that they don t actually understand how certain mechanical systems work. Please call back until you get someone competent. Be diligent, and don t let this sham of a company pull one over on you.

So, I m not going to tell anyone what to do but this is my experience. I bought a policy from car shield and months down the road began having transmission issues. My shop told me I needed a new one and I gave them the number for American auto shield. They did ask for some weird information to verify the claim but they covered me for a whole new transmission! Whole process took a week to verify the claim and a couple more weeks get it shipped and delivered. But my shop said it s one of the nicer transmissions they ve seen and it s been driving great. My experience with them has been good.

Also known as "car shield"I'll give them 3 out of 5 stars since they would only pay for 1600 bucks of 2600 in repairs that were "covered" they just don't want to pay. I cross referenced the prices they were willing to pay for the parts I had to replace at the shop and they are way off base... Also hard to even find a shop that will take this warranty.As of right now I'm undecided if I will continue to pay for the platinum package

This coverage is a one of the biggest scams iv'e seen. They claim to have paid millions in repairs and to fix thousands of parts on your vehicle and give you this long drawn out description of their coverages during the initial setup. Then you have to wait for a combination of at least 25 days and 500 miles from the initial odometer reading of your vehicle before the policy is effective. The sad part of it all is that I was told that my vehicle had to break down in a "SPECIFIC MANNER" in order for them to cover the repair cost and since the vehicle overheated that is not covered under the "GOLD" or "DIAMOND" coverage. The highest levels of coverage they provide!!! Then leave you high and dry with a huge repair bill! They are taking people money and denying coverage with stipulations!!! The Dealership initially denied me even trying to use this coverage because they knew the company has a poor history of not wanting to pay out for repair cost by asking the owner questions and finding loop holes on how not to pay out these policies! So I recommend boycotting this company and AVOID doing any business! They WILL put you in a financial hardship!!!!!

I am the owner of a transmission repair facility so I get to deal with a lot of the extended warranty companies. By far, American Auto Shield/Car Shield is the absolute worst out of all of the extended warranty companies. From the very start of the approval process, it is very clear that they are just looking for an excuse to deny the claim so that they don't have to pay. Not only does this leave the customer high and dry with no help paying for the repair but I just spent 2 weeks submitting paperwork, estimates and pictures only to have them come up with a really lame excuse as to why they won't cover the repair. After several attempts at denying the claim, they finally stated that it was declined due to the fact that the vehicle had a 3 inch lift on it. The lift was on the vehicle when the customer purchased it and the policy at the same time. You should be ashamed of yourselves. If you are thinking about buying an extended warranty, use ASC/Route 66. They actually care enough to take care of their customers and honor their policies.

Please be aware before you consider purchasing a policy: you have to wait for approval of your claim, which is expected. However then you also need to wait for an inspector to go out in many cases to see if they can find a loophole out of paying even though it is a covered repair: maybe it is possible that something caused it so they can deny. The biggest problem is that the inspector on my claim can t get put there for a week. So basically, a repair that would take a couple days will now leave you without a car for a couple weeks and maybe not even covered. Add not having a car for an unreasonably long time or getting a rental to the cost of the warranty. At that point you are paying more than you would without a warranty. My policy even has rental car coverage. AFTER the 8 days I will wait to see if my claim is approved, inspected and adjusted. So weigh that carefully. I followed every policy and procedure only for the supervisor Brady to say, That is not our problem.

Carshield will tell you that your turbo is covered, and your coolant system too, but not your turbo coolant hoses or clamps. They left me with 95% of a $4k repair on my turbo which was "fully covered" under my policy.

Please never sign a contract with this company. They are theives and just want to take you money. We have been paying this people for 6 months full and when a problem arised with the car that should have been cover by them, they tried to find any reason to deny the claim. We have provided all the documents & records requested by them which are very clear, but no they still would not cover the repair. What is worse is they never contacted us and mislead us thinking they are still reviewing the claim until the next payment period was up. Everytime we call them about the status of the claim, they'll tell us they are reviewing it and will contact us. With all the money we have paid this people up untill now, it wouldn't have taken us much more to fix the car ourselves. Please please beware of these thieves and don't sign a contract with them. I just could not sit and allow this to happen to anybody else.

This company actually stepped up and paid my bill of over $10000. I had to pay 245$, not just the $100 deductible,as somethings were not included but all in all my Jeep is working great and I am so thankful I purchased this extended warranty. I can say one should get this warranty cause it can save you thousands of dollars in the long run.

Car Shield just saved me over $5,000. With my husband being in the hospital and me looking at the expense of a car repair I would have gone off the deep end. If you don't have a Car Shield Warranty on your automobile I sure hope you have plenty of money. Like they say it is not if but when things will break. I will not be without it!!!

This company is a total rip-off they don't do anything that they advertise at all been with them since 2020 never use it 2024 had an issue with my vehicle filed a claim American Auto Shield or American Car Shield whatever they want to call themselves it s the same company for those who don't know they directed us no told us where we could take our vehicle yes you heard that correctly you cannot pick the place where you would like your vehicle repaired you know why it because 90% of repair shops do not work with them so you will be forced to take your vehicle to one they direct you to out of that 10% that does. We were told that all we would have to cover is our deductible which is $100. Wrong I get a call from American Auto Shield and the Claims lady telling me that the company doesn't called they to let them know how much the repairs will be also the issue wrong with my vehicle is covered in my plan but this is where Car Shield sticks it to you they will only pay what they think the labor should cost they will only pay what they think the part for the repair will cost so now who do you think have to pay that difference on top of the deductible that you have to pay. We have paid around $3360 in premiums $80 a month on time every month since 2020 and they had the nerve to tell me they are only paying $303 of the claim, and we will have cover the additional $360 on top of the $100 for the deductible making that $460 out of our pockets. This is a scam people don't fall for it, I am telling you they are a scam. It s a shame that celebrities like Ice T support and push this trash to hard working common people. I would give these zero stars if I could, but you have to give at least one star to post your review.

Oh my Goodness! The most harrowing experience I ve ever had with getting my car repaired! I took it to one of their preferred shops because they refuse to pay for dealer repairs. The preferred shop screwed me over royally and I had to pay for a rental out of pocket! I just called both the shop and AA 20 times for help but to no avail! Please please please do NOT use AA Shield or any of their affiliates if you value your car! You re better off fixing your car yourself!!!

Everything was fine while taking my money. Bought a brand new vehicle and traded the one with the American auto shield program in towards the new one. I called to cancel the old one and (also will save $110 a month) and the guy in the phone argued with me over and over. Was overly pushy rude and would not let me speak to a supervisor. I will be contacting the BBB about this. Customer service is horrible, run away and do not give them your business!!!!!

I purchased their warranty last year and now that i need to use it, they're refusing to pay for the repairs. They have dragged their feet throughout this entire process as well as sent an adjuster out to validate the repair but only want to pay for parts that don't make the car in operating condition. The part that works in conjunction with the other parts is suppose to be covered under my contract but will not pay for it. I'm out of town on business and my car has been in the shop for 2 weeks now still waiting to be fixed. BUYERS BEWARE!

As a supervisor in multi automotive dealership groups, we have been forced to not accept claims from American Auto Shield/Car Shield. The wait times to speak with a claims adjuster often ends up in hours wasted. They won t pay dealership MSRP, if they do approve it, they pay short. They often demand a franchise dealer to use third party or used parts. I ve had them ship in factory parts from out of state, but not pay the rental due to their choice to ship that part in, when we had the true factory part on hand. Then the shipped in part failed and the Shield denied coverage on the shipped in part.They lie to customers and say the dealer is price gauging by using published labor times and factory MSRP pricing. Ie, the same amount that same Ford, or Toyota brand would pay the dealer for the same repairs.The customers, caught in the middle, do not know who to believe and dealer reputation suffers.It s easier to diagnose and repair the vehicle with the customer paying, then getting reimbursed through the Shield company. Which defeats the reason why vehicle owners purchase a mechanical breakdown insurance to begin with.

So after 6 days car being in the shop waiting On CarShield to approve my claim was finally approved car got fixed back on the road riding pretty good. Glad I got the warranty I m goin to keep it They still need to speed up the process a little bit. Thanks guys.

Wish I could give 0 stars. My parents have been dealing with this company for over 3 weeks now while their car sits at a shop and Car Shield gives them the run around instead of getting their transmission fixed. We have to call the shop and CarShield every day! This shouldn't be our job to do. My dad has 2 types of cancer, he had a heart attack a week before this started. He's getting a bone marrow transplant in March IF the stress they are causing him doesn't give him another heart attack. Yes we've told this to them several times. I'm really not happy about the way they are treating my parents. GO WITH A DIFFERENT COMPANY PLEASE!!!

Sold me the bells and whistles on the policy, now a year later, my power steering pump went out and the claims department talking about I need to pay my Deductible , Diagnostic check, and out-of-pocket cost for part recommended from Dealership. Claims department found a part in Hong Kong for cheaper, but Dealership will not install due to liability. Claims department don t care about helping you ! And fixing your vehicle Don t not buy policy! They will leave you high and dry when you need them!

I wish I could give negative stars for this company, even when you can prove all your service records have everything they need to give authorization for the repairs they drag their damn feet and look for a way out of providing you the coverage you pay for! Customer service is rude and less than helpful and it s one excuse after another dealing with them! Save your money and avoid them at all costs! Carshield as a company you are what is wrong with the world these days!!!!

You will jump through a insane amount of run around. Nothing is ever really covered you always pay out of pocket. And also prepare to not have your vehicle for weeks. You ll get a rental but still pay a portion of it. Not worth it. Customer service from both Car shield and American is horrible.

Had carshield for 2 years now.never had to use it. Then it happened. Went to a dealership for the work.carshield paid over $3,000 they never fixed it made it worse an now have to get a new motor 0, miles (not used engine) I have that contract.there is different contracts. It's a month to month .so e companies will give u a year free. It's like this your contract is for 4 yrs .one year free .but you have to pay 1 yr up front an your last year is free. .an make sure you read everything .then ask questions. It might not be for you .it can get a little pricey.

I'm in the auto repair business and this company has been horribly slow to deal with. In one instance, a customer's reimbursement check didn't show up for MONTHS after that round of work.In another experience, we have had their car on our hoist disassembled for work waiting for authorization on an additional repair to the initial authorized work for a week! We keep getting told we'll hear back from the adjuster as soon as the team lead and supervisor authorize the work but it's been 4 business days without anything. The people we talk to are nice, but the initial adjuster we were assigned has been near impossible to get a hold of and doesn't return phone calls so we just go into their network each time instead. Luckily they normally answer pretty quickly. Still, taking up a small business' bay for a week is NOT cool.Make sure you and/or your customer are aware of potential storage fees while waiting for this ridiculous company to get back to you. Or, make sure your car isn't sitting on a hoist thinking you'll hear back in the 24-48hrs suggested.We've been told we'll be contacted but we've had to call every day. LIES! They just told me that the information was submitted yesterday on the phone while I was writing this and it was initially submitted 7 days ago! I'll update this post if they ever follow through.EDIT: Called them first thing the following morning and the work was finally authorized, 8 days after the additional work was first given to them. They say the payment info via email should get back to us within two hours once we request it. Fingers crossed that's legit. I bumped by review up to two starts from one because they're actually covering it.EDIT #2: Payment did come and was successful.

Do not sign up with Car Shield! Car Shield is just a front for American Auto Shield. AAS and Car Shield is a fraud. They should be made to tell people on the commercials and all advertisements that American Auto Shield is who you have to deal with to have your car fixed and its not guaranteed that what is covered on your policy will be honored. AAS and Car Shield have the money to pay Vivica Fox, Ice T and other celebrities to get our business but they do not want to pay for covered repairs.When you call for a quote they are very eager to keep you on the line to do all they can to get your business, post dated payments, call backs, very aggressive. When your payment doesn't clear your account, they call you the same day. They don't tell you when you sign up that this is not a guarantee that your car will be repaired even if its covered under the policy you purchased that's not fair its dishonesty. I have been a customer with them for 5 years with 2 different vehicles and have had several major repairs covered and I did I have to file a BBB complaint against them once before. After that I stayed with them and remained confident without my husband's approval. I finally talked my husband into getting coverage for his mint condition 2002 Mercedes CLK320 instead of paying out of pocket for expensive unexpected repairs if something happens.The car has been very well upkept and after a few months the car's transmission needed repairs that's covered under the policy. Now the car is at the dealership needing a $9000 transmission repair. We sent in additional information they requested now they have denied the claim and said the policy should have never been written in the first place. They didn't act like that when they were trying to get our money. Now they have told the dealership they are refusing our claim. When we called to discuss it with them, the claims lady was very rude and condescending and said they were closing the policy immediately and it was our problem to deal with not theirs. Then she said, they were issuing a refund for all payments whether we liked it or not. Had I known this, we could have kept our car in the garage until we could have afforded to fix it. Due to the false advertisement our car now is stuck at the dealership needing a transmission.

DO NOT USE THIS, it is a trick:Most of the dealers will not accept their coverageThey will provide the low ball parts God knows where they are coming from they will use used or non original parts coming from nowhere. When you start a contract all sweet words will be said but when it comes to claims the worst customer service exist on thsi planet ever

If I can give them no stars I would. We took the car in Thursday. And had to get a rental because the car needs a lot of work. Because of red tape they denied the claim. We only have one paycheck. We purchased the car through carchex. Not even through this company. My ckaim number is 2359438. They denied but yet took my premium. What a joke this is a month by month plan but I have a waiting period. And wait. The car was previously fixed before prior to buying this policy. If they ever read this review thanks for caring

This company should not be allowed to sell "coverage" for vehicle repairs. They will happily take your money but when it comes time to take care of thier end of the deal and cover repairs they do a horrible job. They look for any way out of taking care of their customers and when/if they do they get cheap parts that fail and then will not cover the failed part that they demand using. This place is a scam. Do not buy coverage from them.

I recently locked my keys in my car at work. I called roadside assistance and they worked quickly to get me help. They said the technician would arrive within 45 minutes but arrive in 25 minutes. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the service I received!

I am giving American Autoshield 1 star because you can't go lower. They should change the name to American Auto Scam. I have faithfully auto payed and recently began having transmission problems. I took my vehicle to one of their preferred auto shops. My vehicle has been in the shop now 3 going on 4 weeks. First I was told AAS was waiting for the adjuster to go and inspect the vehicle. Then it was they were waiting to see if the shop would accept parts from AAS. Now, AAS legal department is saying the problem is a programming issue that isn't covered.Which one is it ? Waiting on parts or not covered ?And why is the legal department relaying this information ?I call B.S !
