My wife was thrilled to board her mule here in Oct 23. After two months, it is clear that this is NO PLACE for animals. Onsite caretaker is missing in action. After multiple visits and observing frozen/empty water troughs, horses and mules eating poop due to lack of feed in freezing temperatures, the owner of the property is in total denial. The well is not capable of producing enough water. There are a dozen plus animals suffering on this property. County Commissioner has been alerted. Unacceptable ranch operation. It's a run-down property with dirty, unattended cabins. Non-potable in rental cabins is absurd. Stay away from this place if you are looking for horse boarding options. There is trash and project litter everywhere. Nails, rakes, boards with exposed nails laying all over. And there is a thief amongst the crew. Our mounting block was stolen, and a neighbors trough was taken from their horse trailer. Enter at your own risk! Shame on these people!

Stayed here for 4 days around Thanksgiving. Loved how rustic the big cabin and property was. Loved how we were away from any cities and had peace and quiet. The sunrise from the porch swing was beautiful. We stayed in the Homestead Cabin which had a good sized master with a queen bed and an upstairs loft with 2 twin beds both with trundles. The propery does have wifi and our cabin had 2 TVs, a small but full kitchen and laundry room. Bring bottled water. The tap water is non-potable (not drinkable).Overall we were expecting rustic and that is what this was. An old farmhouse that has some updates. The baseboard heater system wasn't working so there were 3 plugin radiant heaters for the house. The master does have a small portable propane fireplace but it's either on full blast or off. We would wake up a few times during the night turning it off because we were sweating or back on because we were freezing.Based on past reviews we thought there would be a lot more activities going on and some staff onsite. To check in you called the phone number taped to the general store window. Hannah was very helpful and responsive to texts with questions. There was a big lack of communication around our reservation and leading up to arrival. We found it on airbnb but booked direct through their website. Maybe that was the issue? They are used to airbnb handling the contact? I had emailed through their website a bunch of questions and after 9 days of no response called the number during normal business hours. An answering service picked up, she wrote down my questions and said someone would be calling me back. Rather than a callback I got a text message that only addressed one of my questions. We also wanted to book a trailride but it was probably for the best that they didn't get back to me as the UTV rental out of the WestCreek Outpost via GOA at Pikes forest was awesome.Maybe it's because it is the off-season and I understand that they wouldn't have a lot of staff there or horses. But I did a lot of research on social and online via reviews and what we experienced does not appear to be the norm? Or maybe it is under new ownership?General Store - Closed. Rec Hall - Closed. No food services at all, alot of reviews mentioned home cooked meals. No chuck wagon. No nightly bonfires. No sleigh rides. Not a "working ranch". Not what we were expecting. Not what was shown on their website or social media.

Nothing like what we were told!!! It's like a 3 ring circus there!! We arrived and spent 2 hours trying to find someone to get checked in. Found a grounds keeper and he had no idea about Nothing. No itinerary no numbers for guides no help. Rooms were far from deluxe accommodations had to leve our 10x10 room to go to bathroom. The only good thing about the whole thing were the contracted guides!!! They really tried but we were un successful!!! In fact Nothing camp got anything!!! So I strongly advise not to use this business for anything!!!!

Set up a horseback riding outing. Extremely accommodating as we kept adding people. The location they took us to was some of the most beautiful scenery around. Lastly the guides Derek, Casey and Monica were helpful, entertaining and very sociable. Even with the rain we had it was a 10/10 trip. If we re ever back out west, we d 100% go back.

Definitely rustic cabins but they were charming. We stayed in the Marshall cabin, and it had an adjacent bathroom in the building next to the cabin. My friend and I made breakfast on the porch every morning, which was really just so delightful. Wish the fridge was a regular bar fridge but we made do with an extra portable fridge that we brought. Morning walks with the dog in the forest around the property were lovely. We were given permission to use the bbq pit so we could cook dinners over charcoal at night, and we really appreciated this plus the area by that dining hall was very picturesque. We played pool in the rec building one evening and that was cool as well, but we mostly would hang out on the porch in the evenings and enjoy the peace and quiet and night sky. Great central location to Tarryall Reservoir and River, Hartsel, Fairplay, and Woodland Park.LShout-out to Derek and Hannah for being such good hosts on the property. Caveat for folks is to bring your own potable water as you can't drink from the taps.

This place is no longer as advertised previously. We were told it has changed ownership many times recently, and it shows. They have a long list of rules such as no canopies, flags, tarps, or anything that may spook horses. Fires are prohibited. However, no one is there to actually enforce any of the rules. Upon arrival, there is a sign to go check in, but no one is actually at the office or general store to check you in.The camp sites are set up for horses with corals, but non horse campers are set up in these spots as well. They mess with your horses when you leave camp and set off fireworks next to them. They don't get told to follow any of the rules. There is no management at the camp. The camp host doesn't drive around to pick up the trash left at sites that have checked out or enforced any rules. He is unaware who is checking in and where they are staying. The camp sites are not maintained and are difficult to get a living quarters into. The corals are falling apart, so be prepared to spend 10 minutes fighting the latch everything you open the gate. They are held together with bailing twine and zip ties. The whole place looks abandoned. They don't do the chuckwagon dinners or breakfasts anymore. There was a human foosball area which is just part of the field now. It is all overgrown and not maintained.I never saw anyone from the ranch do anything with their horses. The Atv rental guy was the most friendly and helpful person there even though we did not rent atvs. There are no trail maps available. When I asked about trails prior to arrival, I was told to use OnX. When we left the ranch to go riding in the promised acreage of forest, we discovered it is FULL of atvs. Every turn you make, you are getting ran over by atvs. There are ROADS, not trails, everywhere. The other horse group staying at the camp had reserved their 3 spots 7 months ago. Upon arrival, they were told their spot was triple booked, and they would need to leave. Meanwhile, the camp is abandoned! 5/16 spots were used. One of the spots they reserved had a tiny home on it, definitely not just an overnight accidental booking. They tried to call the owners or anyone multiple times and left messages but never got a call back. They also reserved a cabin with 4 beds that only had 3 beds. They are regulars to the camp and said they will never return after this trip.We were so disappointed and annoyed by the lack of care to the campground we left 3 days early without a refund. If you go to this camp knowing it is just a place to coral your horse for the night and have no other expectations to have decent amenities or neighbors you may feel it is an okay place to stay. However, for the price we paid and what was promised, we were highly disappointed and would not go back. The camp should be divided with an area for horse people and an area for those with atvs and whatever else like it appeared it was when we reserved. We ended up going to Mueller State Park, which is very equestrian friendly. Then we ended up at Norris Penrose, which is a great value for the money, great staff, and they have an equestrian skill course!Until this place gets put back the way it was from the older reviews, I would not recommend anyone with horses to stay here.

We planned our visit ahead from West Virginia and online reservations were very easy. We confirmed as the date came closer and had no problems setting up our stay. The staff and wranglers were respectful and very helpful. Fern was very kind and really made us feel welcome upon arrival. Our room was clean and comfortable. There are plenty of activities for all ages on the ranch from horseshoe to horseback riding. The animals on the ranch range from chickens, a bunny, mules, donkeys, cows, and several breeds of horses. Fishing excursions can also be set up with Mr. Larry. The owners Jim and Kelly really go above and beyond for their guest. I especially appreciate the peacefulness and privacy of the ranch. The breakfasts are very tasty but our cabin had a stove and microwave. I highly recommend

We came and stayed a weekend at M Lazy C and had a wonderful time being off the grid and connecting with my family! There was so much to do, horseback riding, atvs, hikes, conversations and quality time. I was a bit nervous when we arrived and got to our cabin, but there was nothing to be nervous about! It was a quaint cabin sufficient for our needs. Down side, walking to the bathroom in the cold, but that was because I picked a cabin and didn t think about the bathroom! I also loved that there was a book in the cabin to allow visitors to write a note, what a great connection idea! For a city girl, this was a great, relaxing weekend and look forward to future trips!

Such a beautiful piece of heaven! My sister-in-law and I spent a few days at the ranch over July 4, 2021. The chef was amazing! The square dancing was fun. We took a 2-hr horseback ride. The wranglers were awesome and really looked out for both our safety and our enjoyment. The ranch is beautiful and everyone was helpful. We stayed in the chicken coop, which is cute, but does utilize the shared bathroom. Please note, in this shared facility, there is just one sink, one toilet, and one shower. I think we, theoretically, were sharing with maybe four other people (based on cabin info of who uses the shared bathroom). However, there were multiple times we weren t able to utilize the facility because it was occupied. I would definitely go back, but would consider an accommodation with a private bath.

Such a lovely experience! We had such a great time at M Lazy C ranch! Our kids had a great time. There were lots of fun, planned activities and plenty of beautiful outdoor space to explore. The chuck wagon dinner was such a great experience and the food was delicious! The views are gorgeous and the staff is friendly and accommodating. Everyone makes us feel as if we are apart of the ranching community! This trip was actually our second time back and we cannot wait to plan our third trip.

We really enjoyed our stay here! Our family stayed in the Prospector and Rustler cabin. The staff are so nice and go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need. The dinner was amazing and very filling. My son and mother enjoyed the 2 hour horse ride. Loved the quiet and peacefulness of this ranch. Would highly recommend!

Such an amazing experience staying at M Lazy C ranch. The horseback rides are one of a kind. The guides are amazing and wicked chill. I definitely recommend requesting Autumn and Kaitlynn as guides if you go horseback riding through the trails/mountains. They are very experienced and know what they re doing. They re real nice and easy to get along with. I would rate this an 11/10 experience and would definitely come again. The horses are very easy to ride. I have little to no experience riding horses and I couldn t have felt more comfortable on them, especially with Autumn and Kaitlynn giving me pointers along the ride. Thanks again to M Lazy C Ranch for making my stay amazing and one that I ll always remember!

We went to the Chuck Wagon dinner and square dance. A wonderful meal and some old fashioned dancing fun to follow. The staff was great and it was very nice to see the new owner working beside her coworkers. Well done! They offer horseback riding tours and many other events. RV spots and tent camping available all year. I'm looking forward to my next visit and support this local business.

Miss Yolanda is the best!! This was an AMAZING and INCREDIBLE family experience!! The kids loved everything - from learning to lasso, playing games in the cowboy bunkhouse, riding horses in the arena, feeding the burrow, bunny and chickens (with permission), sledding down a giant hill and watching the real cowboys at work. I truly can't say enough about how much we LOVED our stay!! The cabin exceeded my expectations!! The owners are remarkable people!!

Our daughter was married last weekend at the Ranch. I cannot say enough about how beautiful the venue was and the staff who supported this event! Laura, Kim and Michelle were personable and worked their tails off to make sure her day was perfect! I know there were several others behind the scenes too :) Out of town guests stayed in the cabins and we were in a camping spot with the fifth wheel. My husband commented how nice the guest bathrooms and shower were and he is extremely picky (haha). The food was AMAZING (several people commented how delicious it was!). Thank you, M Lazy C, from this grateful MOB!

My husband and I were on our honeymoon in Co Springs and I really wanted to go horse back riding. We found M Lazy C and thought it was the perfect opportunity to get out of the city for a few hours and see the beautiful horses. Cowboy Tom (w/ Mocha) took us out for an easy joy-ride for an hour. The ranch is beautiful, the scenery is serene, the horses are lovely. Jake and Poker were wonderful! Cowboy Tom had a lot of fun and entertaining stories to tell us along the way. Thank you for fitting us in last minute! We had a really great time!!

This place has potential to be amazing but it shows a lot of neglect. The views are gorgeous & it seems to have a lot of options for outdoor fun. Roads are heavily rutted, sites are covered with sticker bushes, trash & ours even had an abandoned sewer hose laying by the pedestal We stayed during off season & still paid the full price without any of the "amenities" so that was disappointing. Didn't meet any staff so there's nothing to comment on that but the office did leave out our late check in folder with instructions to leave our credit card information to complete the payment but there was NO where to leave it securely & no one was at the office the times we tried to go by

We used to love this place, but the new ownership doesn't and it shows. I'm not sure what the "M" and the "C" are for, but they do live up to the "Lazy".Roads on the ranch are unmaintained to the degree that some of the ruts pose a real hazard to RV's and horses being transported. I asked about this prior to arrival, upon arrival and prior to departure, and was told "we're working on it", but no work was actually performed. If anyone breaks their equipment or livestock, please feel free to reach out and I'll provide a copy of the formal notice that was given to them several days before our checkout, detailing each of the more serious ruts that posed a risk to our equipment. It might help you with your liability claim against them.Sites are not level, and trash is evidently not picked up between stays. There's also an on-property burn ban, regardless of local burn advisories (that's not neglect on their part, but it's the only "campground" in CO that I've ever seen that doesn't allow fires when everyone else does). There's a smoking ban on the property (which I approve of), but it doesn't apply to staff and marijuana, apparently, as the staff camper south situated of site 16a sent waves of dirtweed smoke our way throughout our stay. We also got to listen to them complaining on the phone about being unable to get high despite smoking 20 joints a day. (I suspect it was because she was smoking dirtweed instead of the medical grade recreational marijuana that CO is famous for.. it sure smelled that way). The new owners are present, but they never spoke with us; they just drove by and gave us dirty looks after we sent the "these roads are sketchy" email. We saw them frequently adding equipment to the MMA studio they're apparently trying to get off the ground, which they seem much more focused on than the ranch. Personally, I don't think that rolling around with other dudes in the backwoods is the best business model, but I understand Brokeback Mountain did pretty well at the box office, and that didn't interest me either. Maybe they're on to something. Time will tell, but in the meantime, I wouldn't recommend visiting the ranch for anything else.Another issue is the forest service road that you have to follow to access the ranch. I'm not sure if they're allowed to grade it or if it's beyond their control, but if you are not interested in off-roading your coach or your trailer, you may want to think twice. "We're working on it" doesn't mean what most people think it means to these folks. On the plus side: It's serene, and it was empty while we were there, which was fantastic (probably not so much for the new owners). There were two other couples on the property the whole time we were there. Once the coach was parked, I had my heavily modded Jeep and the roads were fine for that.

We had a wonderful time at M Lazy C Ranch! Laura was welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. We enjoyed horseback riding and the various activities that were offered for the kiddos. Cathy and Ken were wonderful with the children and went out of their way to make our stay a memorable one. We highly recommend M Lazy C Ranch for an awesome family getaway!

The M Lazy C Ranch has a close-knit family vibe, but at the same time plenty of privacy and enough open space to enjoy just being in the mountains. The cabins are amazingly restored but not overly-done. The bed in our cabin, The Settler, was so comfortable I slept better than I have in years with no tossing and turning. I really enjoyed waking up to the quiet cool mornings and walking around the ranch with my coffee just to take in the beauty of what each new day would bring. Greeting the horses, some still sleeping while others were warming themselves in the rising sun, became another favorite. This is a place where you meet new and interesting people. The kids made friends and played like they were old buddies meeting together for another year at summer camp. So many things to do and places to explore for all ages: Horseback riding, learning to cast fly rods, tie various knots used in fly fishing, arts and crafts. The kids even had an opportunity to make a real movie just like real cowboys & cowgirls with wardrobe and props too! Gathering together to view the finished movie on the big screen was so much fun and enjoyed by all. Ken and Kathy do an amazing job working with everyone to get this treasure produced in such a short time period! No doubt we will be replaying this movie over and over again. Even some of the adults made the outtakes! (They even have a Chuckwagon Dinner and Square Dancing event on Saturday nights. We stayed Sunday through Friday and didn t get to take part in this tradition, but hopefully we can our next visit!)The food is amazing and made from scratch! Breakfasts with so many choices and a different variety each day. They keep you full of good food and good conversations. There was even S mores and a Cowboy Singer during dinner one night. The entire staff goes above and beyond to make everyone feel like they are part of the M Lazy C Ranch family. We rode horses (wranglers were ALL knowledgeable, safety oriented and great storytellers on trail rides), we took long walks around the property, visited the chickens each morning and evening, met new friends, and even visited other attractions in the area as this ranch is central to ALL we wanted to do/see in the west Colorado Springs area: Brown s Canyon Rafting Royal Gorge Bridge Garden of the God s Cripple Creek Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument Colorado Wolf & Wildlife Center Pikes Peak.We hope to return again next year, but we plan to spend most of our time at the ranch itself. However, it s nice to stay at such a great location where you have the option to do either; stay and play/relax or head out for a day of sightseeing and return to this quiet mountain hideaway.Kelly and the entire M Lazy C Ranch family, keep up the good work!!! Thanks for being a part of the great memories we were able to make this year. We hope to see you all again next year!

Staff was very friendly but understaffed. We were misled on accommodations. Basically they tried to make up for inadequate room but over charged. We had to rewire pens. The area national forest was nice to ride in although atvs are abundant.Camp sites up by office were very unlevel and hard to back into.

We booked in March no invoice..payed upon leaving still no invoice. 2 weeks later. A group of 5 rigs were booked 2 of the 5 had to vacate there spot for a wedding.. a day early...never before hand were we informed of this change. Of the 6 days we were there once we talked to volenteer s about our stay. The riding was nice enough. One ride was recently closed to horse use, the ride down to the river was spectacular. Lucky we enjoy clearing trail. The other ride to the river we needed a bigger saw .Comfortable spots for the horses and us. Nice showers and bath room very clean. Didn't use the laundry all this was a little drive away. But liked the cozy corner for us horse campers. Office people were friendly and helped as much as possible as the wifi was down, most of the time we were there. saw elk, deer, mines, cattle . Saw a bull moose and a cow calf moose leaving the area. There was a feed store down the hwy. Not a great distance. And a good size town a within half an hr.The reason for a poor grade is the mixup with verbal reservations and no invoice

Just finished a week at the M Lazy C Homestead cabin. The cabin was incredibly clean, comfortable new beds and everything we needed for a great stay. Wifi worked well which was a prerequisite to stay caught up at work. The staff was great and accommodated everything we asked for. I would recommend the M Lazy C to anyone looking for authentic mountain cabins with nice accommodations.

We absolutely loved our 3 night weekend camping trip to the M Lazy C Ranch. (June 17-20,2021) My 2 and 5 year old grandkids were busy all day. They learned how to start a camp fire, archery and dressed up and starred in a western movie. We attended the chuck wagon dinner on Saturday and totally enjoyed the food, music and learning to square dance. Every evening at 8:00, we joined the camp host (Laura) and other families for s mores and bonfire discussion while the kids played together. My daughter and husband participated in the two hour trail ride. They totally enjoyed the ride and scenery. We plan to make this an annual experience for our family to make many more memories.

We camped with our two horses in site 15, excellent site. Recommendation, if you re horse camping with a LQ trailer, sites 14-15-16 are the best with easiest access. Hookups are all easy, corrals right next to you. Trail access is right out of the camping area. If you re not familiar with the area you re going to have to figure the trails out by yourself, mostly ATV, few actual horse trails. Gaia app is what we used, helpful but not a complete picture of the trails. We were there last week so no ATVs were seen (good). Endurance ride training so putting a 15 -20 mile or better ride was a challenge without local knowledge. Autumn was very helpful.Fly fishing led by Larry was epic, including Wildcat Canyon hike down/up 1000 to rarely fished waters. Euro nymphing in order there. Followed up by awesome 11 mile canyon trip, hooked some monsters there. Thanks Larry. We ll be back. Dan

Spent part of Christmas Eve with Kelly and Mike and their staff for a delightful wagon ride, delicious dinner and fun branding activity. We had out of town guests for the Christmas holiday and this memorable visit just set the tone for an amazing few days together. The M Lazy C Ranch offers so much and is highly recommended for an experience you ll always remember fondly.
