I will add the story following this, but to sum up my experience, these guys wasted my time and one guy even got smart and disrespectful with me, completely unhelpful and unprofessional. I wasted 5+ hours of my day waiting for them to tell me my tire was unrepairable.The second week in August. I had a rock bust through the center of my Tire tread on the trail and made a pretty good Gash. I brought the wheel to these guys and asked them to tell me if it was repairable at all or if they could get me a spare.I ll try to add a picture of the spare they sold me later.The young guy I dropped it off with seemed to be a good guy and told me he would see what they could do for me meanwhile I had a 10 hour drive home the following day and clarified with these folks that I was in a bit of a pinch.This was around 10am. The next hour I come back and they were on lunch break. I come back an hour after that and they still have not done anything with my wheel. An hour later a guy shows up with tractor tires and they take care of him almost instantly. So I go up again and ask what the status was, I was told we will take care of your tire in a bit . I walked up and asked them a few more times over the next hour and a half. Finally, it took them a total of three minutes to pull the tire off of the wheel and tell me they would not be able to repair it I WAITED 4.5 hours for them to do 3 MINUTES of work out of their other jobs to tell me it was unrepairable. I understand being overloaded with jobs as a Mechanic. But it s not that hard to take care of a customer who is in a pinch and take one guy off of a job for a couple minutes Finally the guy offers me a very used tire to get me home. For 75$ he offers me this used tire with almost no tread left and some dry rot. Meanwhile my Nittos are only 200$ so I said Well, can you do 50$ for this used tire? And he replied to me saying You can keep your 50$ and I ll give you your old tire back. Just a smart a$$ comment and I was very disappointed. Being my only option I said to put it on and swiftly paid/departed from there. Will not be back no matter if I have no other options in town. I ll freaking go to Salida

Told me to bring truck in on Friday for 2 new tires. When I got to counter, they we're all booked up. Hello made appointment week earlier. Your safe if your local, go somewhere else your from out of town. TERRIBLE SERVICE!!!!

No clue where all these people saying they had a wonderful experience and they were serviced quick are going but I went here and they told me first come first serve and I got there and was the first person in the door and was told I'd have to wait and leave it with them while the guy at the front just grinned. It was a small patch job but they have some people from the day before still but I can't even schedule to drop it off in advance. So no matter what it's a 3 hour wait for a patch. Maybe have an area just for small things why should I wait for an alternator install from yesterday before getting a patch on my tire? The owners of these service business have gotten used to just poorly treating customers and not trying to ever be helpful because they are the only place in town. So again maybe it's because the other 5 star reviews were tourists and got better treatment but I had an emergency and followed what they told me first come first serve not first come and then wait 4 hours before we do a 20 minute job.

On our drive home to Boulder after a camping trip, one of our wheels started shuddering. We made it into Gunnison, only to be told by 4 different mechanics that they were booked out for weeks and couldn t help us. Standard Tire was the 5th place we tried, and despite the fact that they were clearly very busy, Randy very generously offered to take a look at our car. He discovered right away that the issue was a bad control arm, that our car wasn t safe to drive, and that he unfortunately didn t have the right part to replace it with. He could have just left it at that, but instead, he tracked down the part from a different shop assigned another wonderful mechanic to the job who worked on our car for almost 3 hours and even gave us a loaner car so that we could drive across town for a shower and some lunch. Randy and his mechanics quite honestly saved the day for us and we are so incredibly grateful to them. The cost of the work they did for us was extremely reasonable too; we can t recommend them highly enough.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Vehicle Inspection

We had to get not one, but TWO trailer tires replaced here (one on the way to Taylor Park and one on our way home a week later)...Each time they got us in quickly to get the tires replaced and back on the road. They checked out our other trailer tires to make sure we were good to go, we really appreciated the kindness they showed to us!

Awesome service! Got a nail in our tire during a road trip from Virginia. We stopped by in the morning and dropped it off. They recommended an awesome breakfast joint in town and had us ready to go shortly thereafter.

THANKSNothing worse than having a tire problem and having no idea where to go. Well let s just say if you re in this position this is the spot. Couldn t believe they were able to fix it without having to take my handicap buddy out of the truck. My experience with everyone that worked at Standard Tire, including the dog was great. Let s just say they got us in and out of there in less than an hour. The customer service was outstanding price was fair. Thanks again guys. (Stick in tire guy)

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! First impressions mean everything. I called to make a simple inquiry to buy a tire. The guy answered the phone with absolute disinterest in in even answering my question about price and availability. I hope everyone in Colorado doesn t exhibit such poor attitude toward others especially prospective customers.

While traveling from Wisconsin through Colorado our alternator belt went south. The folks at the auto parts store said every shop in town was two to three weeks out for service. We limped our way into Randy's standard tire and service center and even though they were very busy, they saved the day and replaced our belt. Honest and compassionate service. Pricing is reasonable for a tire shop. Service was friendly. Took quite awhile for a new trailer tire that I brought them and waited for but they were super busy too.

First off, only tire shop open in Gunnison on a Saturday, and only open until noon. Guy at front desk was rude, but the gentleman that changed my tire was very friendly and respectful.

I took my van in for brake pads, tire rotation and alignment. I told James several times what I wanted. I talked to Mike and told him. When they called to say my van was ready they had only done brakes.I had stopped in the day before my appointment and talked with both James and Mike to make sure they knew what I wanted. Nope. No one listened to me and they didn t care.I even told Dan, the mechanic who did the brakes. Didn t work. They don t care.Very frustrating. I do not recommend them.

Needed two new tires and an alignment, the tires had to be ordered but the work was still done by noon the next day! Highly recommend these guys!

I cannot give this small local shop a high enough review. We got a flat tire camping in the area and they did a great job of getting us fixed up and on the road again. They helped us with a second issue just as quickly and kindly. This shop is kind, fast working, honest and truly just good people. They deserve as much gratitude and good words spoken as can fit into a Google review.

I came in on a damn near flat spare tire and was greeted right away. Ryan and Seth took great care of me, they advised me honestly as to what was best for me and my situation. I appreciate the professionalism shown and respect this company very much. Family owned and operated with genuine people who have worked there for over 25 years. I highly recommend Standard Tire as their service was above and beyond "standard." Thank you guys again for everything I really do appreciate it!!

Fast and friendly! We jumped in our Jeep to discover a rear tire was flat - inflated it with our air compressor then called this place and they said they could repair while we waited. Drive 2 miles down to see them and sure enough, in 20 mins we were in and out for $25. Nice friendly guys and we appreciated how quickly they took care of us.

Was visiting from out of town and other businesses were quick to say no we don't have it and goodbye. Ryan went above to try to help as much as he could even calling warehouses to see if tire needed could get there sooner. When no luck, he checked his used tire pile but was unsuccessful. Bought tire in another town and he was so helpful to get it on and get us on our way quick as possible. Have definitely earned my business if ever I'm in town again and would definitely recommend paying them a visit. Ask for Ryan.

This place is awesome. Car broke down 10 miles out of town. Randy waited past closing time for us to have car towed. Since they were closed on Sunday, I got a Hotel room and they had me on the road by 1 PM that following Monday. Me being from Kansas I thought I would get nailed on repairs and parts. But nope new starter and labor was $473.00. If I would have had starter replaced at my dealer back home it would have been probably double. Thanks Randy and your crew.

Very kind, helpful, and patient. They checked my tire pressure early Monday morning before making the drive back to Denver. There were several customers waiting yet he took time to answer my questions. Highly recommend.

Standard gets me in and out for yearly snow/summer swaps up here in the mountains. Treated me well for a brake job and new tire set on a previous vehicle as well, thought it was time I gave them the positive review. Thanks, guys.

The guys at Standard Tire are friendly and honest. I've taken my car in for a couple things over the last few months (all unrelated) and they did amazingly quick turnaround on it all. If you're having car trouble and in Gunnison I can't think of a better place to pull into than Standard!

Best in town. Called all shops in area needing all 4 tires changed that day 1hr before they closed. Standard tire was the only one to do it that min so Bought new tires and they put them on in 10mins! They work hard and pet friendly too! I will be going here only! Also telling my network to do the same!

Amazing place! These awesome individuals fixed a problem I was having with my tire shaking, the 1st time I brought it in .... Big O Tire FAILED at 3 different locations to fix my issue, and they still didn't fix my problem! If you need good service, great pricing, honest service and a great products, this is your place!

If you need tire repair or replacement while staying in or travelling through Gunnison, please stop by Standard Tire and services center. He stopped what he was doing and came out to the curb and replaced the shredded tire on our fifth wheel trailer. He even pulled the air hose out to check the other 3 tires. He took what at first appeared to be a disaster and made it a simple stop for service on our way to Grand Junction - thank you! They also sell fuel and their location makes them ideal for bigger campers - I did not check to see if they sell diesel but if they do it's the place to go if you are towing anything. Great people!!!

They gave me prompt service on replacing my tires and brake pads. The thank you note in the mail is good customer service.
