Driving from Denver to LA we encountered some slight mechanical problems. My one call led us to James. We told him what was going on, and he accurately diagnosed the first issue immediately. We took care of that, which allowed us to diagnose the main problem. He gave us the confidence we needed to proceed and make it home safely. All with what sounded like the worst cold of the season and on the one day he was forced to take off. I would not hesitate to spend a day or so in Grand Junction just to take my vehicle to James. Mr. James, Thank you again sir!!!

I highly recommend Here or There Auto. James is a great mechanic, a smart and hard worker, a cool guy to hang around with, and a great conversationalist.On a cross-country trip with a buddy my car started making a sputtering noise and was unable to hold consistent RPM. My friend called Here or There and James told us that he could look at the issue. By the time we got there the sputtering was loud as ever but within 30 minutes James had diagnosed the problem and figured an estimate for the repair and confirmed with a parts store that what was needed was in stock. Over the next hour and change he got the part replaced and the engine purring again while being a joy to talk with about stargazing, old work stories, and travel. He fit us in to his busy schedule and at the end of the day he saved our trip.If you need emergency repairs, there are few better places to bring your clunker to than Here or There. If I lived in the area I'd bring my car into his garage regularly as James is a good mechanic and a good guy to hang around. 10/10.

I had a lock nut on my tie rod off my Jeep.. Could not get it off for nothing.. I had a trip to Salt Lake coming up and needed this done asap!Caught James as he was going to lunch and he said let's look at it anyway.. With a torch and some ingenuity we managed to get it loose. He didn't even want to charge me but I insisted,.. That tells me a lot about someones character.. Will be back!!Service: Steering & suspension repair

Jim was amazing in helping us diagnose and repair some check engine codes. He got us in right away, found the problem, fixed the problem and got us on our way a lot sooner than any other shop in town would have. Most wouldn t even see us on the weekend, let alone have us out of there fixed on a Saturday. I was able to learn alot about our truck and inspect his work. Jim is a top notch mechanic and I would be happy taming any car we ever owned to him.

10/10 recommend Here or There Automotive. My friend and I called Jame s shop for an emergency hitch repair on our cross country road trip. A bolt had been torn out of the car frame. We had a wonderful experience and I couldn t say thank you enough for all the help James gave us. He helped us unhook and reattach our trailer, fixed the hitch and even welded it to the car, and then charged us an incredibly reasonable and generously low price for his 4.5 hr repair. I am very grateful for all he did and his help.

Best mechanic I ve been to! Transparent about pricing (and charged far less than I expected), and was able to watch and ask questions while James worked. Took a couple hours to repair something another shop had taken 3 days to. Will be back for sure!

James was an incredible help! I broke down on the road and after getting turned away by 15+ shops, James agreed to take a look at my car and stay over three hours after he closed to help me out! He went above and beyond and it was obvious he was an expert! His pricing was also very fair and made sure I felt welcome.

I went to 5 other shops who could not fix the problem and cost me way too much. I finally found Jim who found the issue and fixed it in no time flat. He is a very easy guy to talk to and doesn't try to upsell the issue and doesn't treat people like idiots. I send all my family and friends to him. Jim is the most knowledgeable person I have ever dealt with concerning auto mechanics. If I could give 100 stars, I would! I had an intermittent electrical issue on my Tundra that had myself and several mechanics stumped, I thought I was doomed. James was able to locate and fix the issue almost immediately in that mystical way that makes you genuinely wonder if this person is a wizard! Hell of a nice guy, straight shooter, knowledgeable mechanic, and a good soul. I can't recommend him enough for your auto needs. Thanks again, James!!

We were on our way through town and had car trouble. James was great about getting us right in and was thorough in diagnosing the problems. He knew that we were on a schedule so have us options on pricing to get there quickly and get us back on the road. Great mechanic and person. I have to say I was almost in tears and frustrated that my husband had been trying to figure out what was going on with his truck for almost a week. I finally just looked up a place in orchard mesa and without hesitation James said why don t you bring it on down here and let me take a look at it. Within a short amount of time, all the codes were cleared and it ran better than it had in years. Now, being a woman it s hard for me to take my car anywhere without my husband so I m not getting jerked around and I can honestly say I would go to him every single time and I would feel comfortable with my kids taking their vehicles to him as well. My husband got a hair cut that afternoon and made small talk with the lady at great clips who also knew James and spoke very highly of him. I think we have a great Mechanic and neighbor here in Orchard Mesa. People like this gentleman are far and few between but I think we found ourselves one hell of a Mechanic.Service: Auto engine diagnostic

Jim was terrific. He worked with us and got our power steering pump fixed at a decent price. He also recognized a couple of maintenance repairs that need addressed in the near future for us to keep in mind. Jim really cares about his customers. Jim dropped everything on a Sunday to help us troubleshoot when the engine light came on in our RV. He met us at his shop, worked tirelessly to identify the problem and got the part we needed installed as quickly as possible. The next morning we were back on the road for our vacation. He even called to follow up and make sure everything was running smoothly. Jim provides high quality, professional service. He is trustworthy & takes pride in his work. James knows his job, is professional, and wants your vehicle to be well fixed . He is an honest mechanic and would not screw you up. I had truck issues while traveling through Grand Junction and staying at the KOA. I took a chance with James, as his shop was in walking distance of the KOA. I gave him a call and explained my situation while he normally has a 2 week wait time, he had me bring my truck down to his shop so he could take a look. He quickly diagnosed what was wrong, and said he could squeeze me in. While his shop doesn t have the curb appeal that generates a lot of confidence he was meticulous with his work, and made sure everything was done right. I can tell he takes pride in his work. He even drove my truck to the KOA to pick me up when it was done, so I didn t have to walk back, and showed me the work he completed and the problems he found. Super grateful I found James and would recommend him!

There are not enough kind words I could use to accurately describe my experience working with Jim. I went to a handful of other mechanics that took advantage of me. It was refreshing to have a mechanic that explained what he was doing and why. He showed me what to do if I ever blew a fuze again down the road. I highly recommend Hear or There automotive. He got me in right away and made sure to do quality work. A true and kind professional.

James is a no BS strait up honest mechanic that is here to help his fellow people , he's not looking to rip you off with overcharging and high prices. James is definitely one of the top mechanics in this valley . As well the best prices you could have when it comes to a mechanic .He helped me personally with what I thought would be a 3500$ fix and it ended up being a 500$ fix.Definitely top notch service all around and I will continue to only use him for service on my vehicles

Not all hero's wear capes !I was driving from Michigan to Arizona in my 2003 Honda Accord. I have had this var 6 years with no issues. I stopped in a gas station in Grand Junction to fill up and when I went to leave it wouldn't shift out of park. I ve worked on cars a fair amount in my life so I can usually diagnose and fix a lot of problems. Not this time. I was stuck at the pump for a couple of hours. Tried the park release next to the shifter, nothing. Called several shops and mobil mechanics. No one was available. Called Jim and even though he was 25 miles away on his Harley, he showed up and figured it out and fixed it so I can continue on. Fixed our car super fast. We were stranded and he helped us out super quick and did the right job. We are so grateful. He kept the price affordable. Thank you so much. I can tell the ones here who gave 1 star were not even real customers. They seem to have confused him with somebody else. This guy is gold. He has experience to fix older and newer cars.

Highly recommend Here or There Automotive and the owner James. Excellent communication, excellent work and follow up at a reasonable price. We were traveling from 3 hours away on some noisy wheel bearings for our 2009 Prius. The owner James went out of his way to be available in our restrictive timeframe. Communication was excellent: He called us when the parts were delayed by UPS, rescheduled for the next morning. I hung around and watched and appreciated the attention to detail and the quality of the work. When I was in the waiting room a couple of other customers came in and highly praised James. I wished we lived closer....James would be my full time mechanic! Highly recommended.

When it comes to excellent customer service and reliable trustworthy Mechanic work Jim at Here or There Automotive is your guy! My vehicle broke down on me and left me stranded in Denver! After having to dealing with the hassle of getting it towed back to Junction I was recommended to Jim. He was able to get my car in diagnosed and fixed in a very timely manner and for almost half the price that other shops quoted me! I wouldn t take my vehicle anywhere else!! Thanks Jim!!! I am a young girl who doesn't know much about cars. I have had my fair share of bad luck when it comes to cars, been screwed over and over charged to get my car worked on. I have wished on many occasions that I could find an honest and trustworthy mechanic. I have found that with Jim at Here or There. I have been going to him for over a year now for the big and little things that my car needs. He always figures out what is wrong with my car, fixes it in a timely manner and he has saved me tons of money. He takes such good care of me and my car. I feel very fortunate to have stumbled onto his shop! I highly recommend taking your car to Jim if it is needing some work!

James was the ninth mechanic we visited in 48 hours, and the only one who actually fixed our oil leak problem. He was honest and informative throughout and we made it the next 2000 miles to our destination with no problem.

James is the most honest and hardworking mechanic in town! Great rates, a ton of experience and is overall extremely fair! I wholeheartedly recommend James and his shop! I won t let anyone else work on my car besides James! 10/10 highly recommend!

This company has the most hardworking and honest mechanics I've ever met. I had an issue which caused my car to shake and I couldn't figure out the cause for years. Anthony did a free diagnostic and discovered the issue within 10 minutes, had parts priced out in another 5, and when they came in he easily installed them for me. All of this work was done remotely from the comfort of my home. Here or There is priced fairly and does accurate work.

James was very nice and help me more than any other mechanic I've ever been too. I broke down in a Walmart parking lot and by luck a friend of his was parked in front of me and gave me his number. I called in complete distress he came out to the parking lot I was broke down in diagnosed my car for free then told me I could bring it over to his shop he was very kind and has called me with any updates he had for me. I'm very glad to have a mechanic I can trust.
