Horrible uppity attitude. Doesn t return messages. Then told me he d listen to my truck and then said im not sure if I want to work on it As if a 03 ford was too much for him to deal with. I won t be recommending their services ever again to anyone I know.

I drove down from Summit County in hopes of finding someone who could help me with a transmission/drivetrain issue. Made 10 + calls to multiple shops. Everyone was 2-weeks out to even look at my problem.I got ahold of Tom by chance. He said to bring the truck by and he would take a drive with me.We took the drive, Tom immediately suspected what the problem was.Pulled the truck in, changed out the parts (that he had in stock)I was a bit frightened to see the bill!When he gave it to me, I was in shock,I was expecting at least double what he charged me. He said he found some other things needing attention, I told him to please proceed. Then he told me that he was 2-weeks out as well He simply stopped what he was doing to help me with my critical issue.Best experience I ve ever had with Auto Repair Super friendly & and knowledgeable technician!I was so happy, I gave them the 24- pack of Bud Light I was going to take home Services: Transmission, General repairs & maintenance

Had a great experience here. Tom and team were knowledgeable, friendly, and honest. I brought in my ten year old Suzuki to look at a transmission fluid leak, which I had been struggling to find service for since Suzuki no longer sells cars in the US... Tom evaluated it, including driving it to get a full picture, and let me know that it would likely be difficult and expensive to fix, and that fixing it really wasn't necessary as long as I kept an eye on the fluid levels. And after taking quite a lot of time to look at it, he didn't even charge me! I spent nearly $200 for another mechanic to look at it and tell me they weren't sure how to fix it, so this was above and beyond my expectations. I've had several experiences with mechanics who oversell me thinking I don't know anything about cars, and it's a relief to find someone so honest and dedicated to customers. I will absolutely be back for any auto needs in the future!

I took my car for a complete transmission flush a few months ago. A few months after the service, my engine light appeared with a transmission code. So I did a transmission fluid flush myself. The transmission fluid was extremely dirty and the plug had a significant amount of metal on it. No way a few months of driving would have caused this. The owner Tom and his employee Joe were very helpful when I needed a new clutch assembly. They walked me through each step of the process and explained the cost of parts and labor, and the work was done quickly at a reasonable price. I would definitely work with them again.

I highly recommend this place! I had a problem with the gear change mechanism (not the transmission), and Tom fitted me in right away to take a look at it for me. He needed a few hours and even gave me a ride home while he was diagnosing the issue. He managed to pin point the problem and told me it would require him to order some parts. The parts came in but in the meanwhile I traded in my car for a new one.I called Tom that I owed h some money for his time, expertise and kindness. He told me no charge and that he was happy that all worked out for me.What an amazing service. If I even have issues again in the future, A1 Transmission in Golden will be the only place I ll go to!Thank you Tom! Service: General repairs & maintenance

Tom and Matt are such professionals and totally personable. They explained everything to me thoroughly, and had my vehicle ready to go before I even expected it. The prices were the best, and the quality of work was superb. My car runs like new. I couldn't be happier with the service. I will never take my car anywhere else. Customer for life.

These guys are great, honestly! They where timely about getting back to me to inform me of what was gong on with my vehicle and honest about the diagnosis. They were fair about the price and were able to get my car taken care of a lot more quickly then I expected. I highly recommend them and will send anyone else I know with transmission issues to A-1 transmission.

My experience overall was great. I was on vacation and was headed back from Vegas to Minnesota. When I was Going down I-70 my transmission went out and I had to decide to where to go in a hurry. Being Saturday nobody was open but I looked at 5 or 6 shops near me and a-1 had the best reviews so I took a chance and had it towed their. The next morning Tom called me and was completely cool with it sitting tell Monday. Hearing my story he then pushed aside other work and ended up being able to get me on the road again by Thursday evening! I proceeded to drive 1300 more miles and she still drives like new. I was on a budget and he cut me a deal that helped me out considerably and gave me a two year warranty! Thanks again Tom, will recommend you every time.

I cannot recommend Tom and Matt at A-1 Transmission enough. Just a couple of weeks ago I was in the process of moving to the East Coast when my transmission went out on my car. I had a pretty tight deadline of when I needed to leave Colorado, and the guys at A-1 were able to help me with getting a rebuilt transmission and installing it in less than a week, even when it mean working overtime to get it done. On top of everything, they ended up being the best price of anywhere I received a quote. Everything is still running smoothly, even after the 2000 mile road trip the same week the transmission was installed! If you're looking for a reliable and trustworthy auto shop, they're your guys.

Matt and Tom are great. I found these guys through a simple google search and I lucked out. I was having issues with my truck, and they made time to check it out the day after I called them. They diagnosed my problem, and even though it was some really bad news, I respected their honesty and sincerity. Not to mention they did all diagnostic work for free. They even stayed open late into the evening so that I could make it after work to chat with them/better understand all the issue. I would definitely go to these guys again.

Tom and his team were Fantastic. They repaired my 1993 F150 XLT shifting and eclectical issues faster then expected and at the lowest end of the price range he quoted. I will be back - they let Me know everything that was wrong, which mattered, which didn't, and which could wait. I Highly recommend them!

I cannot say enough good things about this business. 18 months ago the transmission went out on my 04 Ford F150. The truck has pretty low miles for its age, so I decided to have A1 transmission replace it with a rebuilt one. I had no issues with the rebuilt transmission until last week. One morning I got in the truck and the transmission was slipping in every gear and leaking fluid badly. I ended calling A1 transmission and they told me to bring my truck down. It turned out the torque converter on the rebuilt transmission had a hairline crack and a couple of the clutch bands were worn. Tom replaced torque converter and the bands and did not charge me a penny for the parts or labor. I don t know a lot of business that would honor their work from 18 months ago like A1 did. I will be customer of theirs for life now. If you need transmission work done, then do yourself a favor and go to A1 transmission in Golden. They do good work and are honest. You cannot ask for more than that.

I don't know I have taken my vehicle there and one didn't get fixed. My truck has had problems since I've taken it. Tom was very kind to reevaluate my problems with my truck. I appreciate the second time of his service and very politely resolving the problem. I got to go see my mother 500 miles away and it ran pretty well. Thank you very kindly Tom. You are awesome.

I have an older jeep with a myriad of custom parts. I needed a mechanic that really knew his stuff. The last place I took it to had not been able to sort out my transmission issues. Tom is the owner who actually works on your vehicle so you get the 'brains of the organization' working on your vehicle. A couple of hours later it was perfect! Cost was also VERY reasonable. They have a customer for life!

We took our new (used) car to A-1 to get it checked over. They were great to work with - got us in quickly, spent a lot of time with the car, and didn't charge us for the check. We will definitely be returning to them for oil changes and repairs in the future.

There's a lot I can say about Tom and Matt. All positive. They were fixing something small in my Honda Civic's transmission. I don't know anything about cars but they took the time to explain to me what was wrong and did it at a very reasonable price. They are those honest mechanics that you are looking for! Don't be intimidated by the messy entrance. Walk in and they will treat you like family

Thanks to Tom for taking on a project on my husband s1985 Bertone X-19.Tom researched the car, as it was only built for 5 years. He took the time to call other mechanics, and resolve the transmission issue. I would recommend A1 Transmission & Gear to everyone. My husband swears by Tom s work, and won t go anywhere else!

My Stratus was having issues upshifting after i replaced the battery, and I took it in to an auto repair shop who told me I'd need to rebuild my transmission. I took it to Tom, he checked it out same day and told me the problem was the computer. When I took it to a dealer, it took them three days to find the same problem. So, down to the point, Tom is awesome, friendly, and he knows his way around a transmission. Recommending him to all of my friends.

I took my 2008 Honda CR-V to Tom because it appeared to have a small leak in the transmission. They checked it our and found a very small leak, but it was so insignificant and considering the age and milage of the vehicle and the cost to repair it, they just recommended I add some transmission fluid periodically to keep it running. They effectively talked themselves out of an expensive repair job so I could save some money and didn't charge me for their time! Anyone who does that earns five stars in my book!

I have taken my company trucks to Tom at A-1 Transmission for the past 12 years.The honesty and integrity is amazing ! I have to say I have never been treated better , Tom & Mat did not ever make me feel stupid when I asked questions about the repair.The price has always been very fair.I always recommend them to others if they have transmission troubles.Always very happy with service!

Have an older model ford ranger to many miles on it Tom fixed me up in a very short time at a great price , couldn't be happier, if you need personal service at a reasonable price see Tom at A1 , I will have all of my cars transmission service done here. NO DOUBT HE IS THE MAN.

Had a great experience with Tom!! If you ever need some quality work done come see them!! I promise you they won t steer you wrong and they will make sure you are taken care of!! They care about their customers and that is hard to find nowadays!!

Tom is the man, I had my transmission serviced ese wheee due to cash flow, they did a mediocre job, took it to Tom and he fixed it within a couple hours, great humble guy I will return when I have any transmiss Issue. I was beyond happy with my experience with A-1. The staff was professional, honest, and personable. They worked incredibly hard to help me navigate a difficult situation and presented me with all of the information I needed to make an informed decision. A-1 is outstanding!
