Middle fork RV Park really surprised us in a good way. Located just off of Hwy. 285, situated behind a Grocery-Store/Mini Mall. The view and stream side location was amazing once we got back in there. This hidden gem was lovely after we parked. The camp attendant was friendly and booked our 2 night stay over the phone before we arrived. Fair Play is an old silver mining town with a rich history worth exploring. It had nice little restaurants, grocery and a winery with free tastings. Families with kids swam in the stream that winded all the way through the campsite, we fished and rode bikes. There was a scenic trail to walk the dog. Full hook up, new/clean/close bath house made it convenient. The nice size lot and room for parking our tow car was nice. We rode our E-Bike 1/2 mile up to a Sporting Goods store in town to buy a 1 day fishing permit $17 each, trout fishing bait and lures. We fished right next to our campsite and caught fish! This was a respite from the road and a place we will come back to again.

Rooms doesn't really apply here since it's sleeping in your own RV. Bathrooms were new but we didn't see any cleaning for our time there. Location is a little complicated with the ongoing road construction and traffic backup. Had to call and they were really helpful in getting us turned around and on the property. One side has the river and the other side a stocked trout pond. Kids really loved it and great to relax around the campfire with the river sounds in the background.Walkability: Fairplay is less than a mile away and you only have to cross 285 once. Got market, Ace Hardware, Napa Auto, Restaurants and a brewery just around the corner. Once there you don't really have to drive.

We were scheduled for a 4 night stay and when got there we found that there was no water at the sites, save one. It was frozen despite their water lines being buried 6.5' deep, as we were told. The only water available was in one site, so you had to hook up, pull to the only site with water, and then reset your camper. They did graciously refund all our money. We drove another two hours to a KOA West of Denver, where they held the only site left. The KOA was much nicer, though more expensive. A very frustrating day of travel that ended well, thank God! Middlefork should have been telling people ahead of time that they were without water. Again they did refund all our money.

Most people staying at the Rv park are full time residents with many of their Rvs almost looking abandoned. Had one super drunk guy everyday making a complete you know what of himself. He was so drunk a couple of the nights he couldn't hold on to his dogs leash and it ran into our camp and fought our dogs. The Sheriff was at several of the Rv spots looking to make contact with several of the residents so not sure what this was about but it wasn't a settling feeling. Another complaint is that there is no designated dump. We only had electricity at our site and were told we'd have water but apparently it was "frozen". I would not recommend this place for families and oh btw it's pretty expensive.

Middlefork is a pretty little campground with beautiful views. A walk along the small trail surrounding the park takes you on a stroll along the crystal clear stream flows on the north and south sides of the campground. It s refreshingly quiet and everyone we met was friendly. The manager keeps the bathrooms and laundry room clean., although I recommend wearing shower shoes in the communal showers. There is a small game room on the property with a ping pong table and you can pan for gold in the creek. The only reason I didn t give it 5 stars is because the dryers in the laundry room are terrible and never dry your clothes completely, regardless of how long you dry them.

Great views. Nice to be next to a grocery store and hardware store. The shower and bathroom facility is in horrible condition. Mold, mildew, broken showers, no handle on the water control for one shower. No lights at night to lead to the bathroom building. My wife drove to the bathroom in the middle of the night as it was too dark for her to feel safe.

The Middlefork RV Park is a favorite of locals and travelers alike. Beautifully situated on a peninsula literally in the middle of the South Fork of the South Platte River, this facility has great amenities for a park its size in the rural mountain region of South Park, Colorado and stands out above all other parks in the area. The on-site management and staff are friendly, helpful, and always available to assist you in making the most of your stay.Middlefork RV Park is only a short hike or drive from the grandeur of the Continental Divide and the conifer forests of its mountainous peaks.Whether it s panning for gold by the meandering river (get your permit at the Town Hall), enjoying a picnic lunch at the Fairplay Beach, pleasantly strolling along Front Street while exploring the unique shops and food venues, visiting the local museum for a trip back in time, or even making time for a thrifting adventure at the non profit South Park Thrift Store, you ll have plenty to do and even more to see.For the outdoor enthusiasts in your group, the region boasts some of the best fly fishing in Colorado and yes, it is this very area that the cartoon series, South Park, is all about. You ll be amazed at how well a beloved and satirical adult cartoon series depicts the small mountain town of Fairplay, Colorado; South Park City, and the daily routines of its 700-something year round inhabitants.Your adventure begins at the Middlefork RV Park. Travel tip: This park is often sold out year round, so make your reservations early. You ll be glad you did.Bottom line, you cannot go wrong by booking your stay here!Have fun!

I wish there were more stars to leave. We have stated another part for the last 6 months and after 2 days we regret we were not over here. This is a beautiful well-maintained Park and we have the Platte River running behind us. The amenities are well maintained and the manager was super helpful getting us in and made it simple. This is the place to stay short-term or long-term.

Bathhouse is a little dated but VERY clean and that's what matters. Thank you! Excellent location. Convenient to everything in Fairplay & beyond. Only 25 mins to Breckenridge. 1 hr to Princeton Hot Springs. Walking distance to grocery store, restaurants & wine bar :) Fantastic dirt bike trails & hiking all around. Close to Fairplay beach. Great fishing. West side of campground has a creek running through which sounds amazing and crystal clear waters with a cleared path to it for wading or rinsing coffee cups :) East side of campground has a walking path along a little pond. Catch & release fishing is allowed. I think I saw some small trout? Benches along the path. I'd call this place a little slice of Western Americana. Very family friendly. I'd give it more than 5 stars if only there were just a few more trees for shade & privacy. I did notice immature Aspen plantings, etc. so I can see that you're working on that improvement. Once those trees grow a bit, this will be a 10 star campground. Easy, clean access to water, dump station & garbage cans. Tory, who checked us in & remains onsite is SO professional & helpful. Thanks again. We will return :)

The campground hosts are friendly and welcoming. They take care of every camper every hour of every day. We appreciate the well kept grounds. They never stop working and it shows. Some spaces don t fit the bigger rigs and had a few other issues, plus moving around the sites multiple times.... they worked it all out for us. We didn t mind. Glad they were accommodating us.Loved walking our dog down to the rushing river and quiet little pond and also letting him climb around on the rock mounds past the dog walk. The views were beautiful and we enjoyed watching the storms roll through. We ll be back for sure. Oh and Thanks for letting us boon-dock 1 more night!!

It's horrible for tent campers, do not waste your money on a.cramped site. A tiny row of rocks separate you from your neighbor. You face the highway and just listen to traffic. The bathroom is so far away,, you would need to drive there in an emergency.. I originally booked a RV site and was talked out of it by whoever was in the office and am so mad at myself for listening to him. A Saturday night in August, I couldn't find anywhere else to stay. I will never come here again and if it wasn't for the nice lady in a camper next to me and the fact that someone didn't book the middle tent site, I would have rather slept in a parking lot.UPDATE: Marcus at Middlefork RV Park contacted me and apologized. I sincerely appreciate that he did and cares. So Thank You! He informed me that they are putting bathrooms in the upper site, etc. In the review, I didn't mention that as I walked through the park with my dog, they have lovely RV sites. I would have been perfectly happy in any of those. People were friendly and lots of places to walk your dog. It's conveniently located to town and close by is a market with everything that you need. A brew pub is also close by that is not dog friendly so I didn't go but it was recommended by my neighboring campers.

What an unexpected surprise. I had no idea that the park is bordered by a most wonderful rushing river. 27 of the 44 sites back up to the Middlefork South Platte River and there is River access, a lovely river side walking path, and even a catch & release trout pond. At first I balked at the $60 a night rate, but I was so impressed by the level sites, clean bath and laundry rooms, and of course the relaxing sounds of the rushing water behind my rig, that I'll be stating there again for sure!

Good people, some spots are a little small, and good laundry/shower facilities. The dog park is not a park, it is a circle of rocks and wood chips. There are also no bags available to even pick up your dogs waste. If you are going to live here full time, have a plan for insulation below your camper. We froze our pipes the first two nights here because we hadn't gotten it up yet. Good location and within walking distance to the Rock Top Plaza.

This place is pretty great! The reason I gave it a 3 instead of a 4 is because being a resort you would expect more and nicer amenities (compare to Mountain Dale in Colorado Springs). They do have some fun activities like a ping pong table, gold panning, sluicing, fishing (both river and stock pond), and a game room with board games. They also have private shower stalls which are great! The washer and dryer don't allow for much laundry and the washing machine spin cycle wasn't working during our stay. There is a laundromat right up the road. The ground is mostly sand/dirt so everything gets covered in dust. Fairplay is the town the park is located in and it is every bit a small town. A. Small. Town. There is one grocery store which is decent (my wife really doesn't like it) and it is walking distance from the park. The park is really really affordable, though! So, it is with every penny! We'll definitely stay here in the future. Just go into it eyes wide open. The proximity to Breckenridge combined with its affordability makes it a perfect stop!

Great location/Great priceWe stayed here for more than a week. The owners went out of their way to accommodate us. The staff is friendly, the river sites are peaceful. The campground is quiet at night. It is located behind a shopping center (short walk) with a great brewery, hardware store (L.P. available), auto parts store and a nice grocery store (the only one for miles). There are places to get fuel with a camper hooked up and it's close to many Forrest Service sites. Breckenridge is an easy drive too!

Nice camp-host, clean place and everything works well. We also had a great view of the mountains from our back window in site 32. Lots of pretty daisies. It s a dirt parking lot though. Trees have been planted, but it will be years before they provide shade. Worth going for the cooler weather. Breckenridge is about 30ish minutes away and worth the drive.

This was our 1st time here and didn't know what to expect. We only planned to stay 2 days but were (luckily) able to extend and had a really nice 5-day stay at Middlefork RV. Met the camp hosts and the owners. All were super friendly and helpful. I liked the clean bathhouse and the fast internet - a must-have. Our space backed to the river and was quite relaxing while I read. Having a grocery store so close was handy. I forgot a few ingredients and sent the hubby to the store. He was there and back in 10 minutes. We already booked another 3 days in September for fishing and aspen viewing

5 stars for the gorgeous river running alongside the campground, leading to a trout pond with hiking trails throughout. They are also dog friendly so bring them with you!! This is just preference but I would suggest you use your own showers/bathrooms as they are not in the best condition. There is nothing in the surrounding area besides family dollar and a small town diner with a "brewery". Overall though, great campground.

This is a very well run RV park. The grounds are well kept, and the the surroundings majestic. It's great having a brewery with great beer and food next door. Also next door is the Napa and grocery store....what more does an RV'er need?? We loved the small town of fairplay, just a short trip to get to breckenridge. We will be back for sure. BTW... Verizon works great (LTE), the others don't.

This is my Colorado home. We have stayed here for many years. The campground is neat and well laid out. Campsites are large and easy to enter/exit. Showers are clean and the staff are like family. The only reason to not stay here is if they are full and if that's the case, I'm sorry. Book early cause everyone else knows they are great too.

The park itself isn't the prettiest, hidden behind a small shopping center, but the views are spectacular and the workers are some of the nicest people we've ever met. They have a little fishing pond on one side of the park and a river on the other. It's dirt/gravel drive and camper spots that are pretty level. They have laundry and such and are currently building a little clubhouse style cabin in the front. If Andrea is still working there give her a big hug from Ashlee Zotter please!

I always try to be honest and fair with reviews. This campground is clean and they've done some nice landscaping. I think their price is too high however. The bathhouse has mushy floors and we worried about falling through and the stalls are tiny. They put us in a site where the dump station was literally adjacent to our door and picnic table and they charged us full price. The staff was friendly and it is convenient to Hwy 285 and stores and restaurants.
