My family and I were recently stranded in 'blizzard like' conditions close to the Riverside Inn. Our rental car has 'frozen' and stopped working on the side of the road. It was getting late and our only option was to walk to the Riverside Inn for shelter. When we got there, several people were lined up at the front desk and everyone was being told there were no vacancies. When I got to the front of the line, Peter at the front desk, explained the same to me. No vacancies. I explained our situation and he decided to offer us (and anyone else who needed to stay) a spot on the floor in the lobby, hallway, or dining area. He brought out extra blankets, pillows, and even a couple of mattresses for everyone. He showed us where the bathrooms were, offered us coffee and hot chocolate and the use of their dinette area to heat food.He was calm and caring. Had we not been able to stay the night, I'm not sure what our options would have been. He would not accept any payment and was most concerned with helping those of us who decided to stay. This is a '5-star' response from Peter and I am grateful to him for thinking about humanity before profitability.

This was an unplanned stop for us because of the Colorado snow storm, but ended up being a very good travel experience. These were probably the most comfortable beds we slept on our entire Spring Break trip from Iowa to Utah. The people were very kind and accommodating. We loved getting to "discover" the town of Fairplay, CO. It's a great little stop right before Breckenridge and Denver. Lots of great rated eating places in the area that I would have loved to get to try if we had longer.

Terrible customer service. Completely unprofessional and disrespectful. The photos appear to be nice, but we were never able to find out. Location is convenient, FairPlay is a decent down. However, the people working the front desk are rude, ignorant and not willing to do their job. Find somewhere else to stay until they hire new or train these people better.

I am shocked at all the bad reviews on here because our stay was incredible! Peter and Cici were at the front desk and were the kindest, most helpful people we have met in a long time. We booked here last minute because we got stuck due to bad weather and they were kind enough to accommodate us despite the rush and everything being so last minute. There were plenty of other people who were stranded and no rooms left and they made space for them to sleep inside too. Our car got stuck in the snow and Peter was kind enough to bring out his own truck and tow us out of the lot instead of us having to call a towing company and paying a big fee.Our room was very clean and comfortable with great heating (it was very cold outside due to the winter storm) and amazing hot water. The location is right in the heart of Fairplay and makes it an affordable stop on the way to the more expensive ski towns like Breckenridge and Vail. We loved our stay here and loved the people even more and would absolutely come back again. Peter and Cici we are the family from Texas, we loved you guys! Thank you so much for all your help! We made it home safe!

The rooms are okay and nothing to complain about, but the biggest issue with this hotel is that they wildly underdeliver on the amenities listed and the room felt half prepped for our stay. Additionally, the heaters in the rooms continually blow heat even after reaching temperature, but if you turn them off the room drops to the 50s in the winter - not exactly comfortable for sleeping either way. They list continental breakfast online, but their idea of breakfast is coffee and juice - that's it, nothing substantial. To worsen the matter, there are practically no restaurants within an hour that serve breakfast at a reasonable price - the closest would be in Breckenridge which is a very expensive ski town.

Able to get adjoining rooms for our large family. Disappointed that despite what was advertised on google, there was no continental breakfast. Only coffee, tea, and juice. Sink drain was almost completely clogged and room coffee maker did not work, which I think are easy/simple conveniences to get right. Left much to be desired for relatively high room rates.

We rented three rooms online through one of the travel sites. The rooms were basically okay. The young man checking us in in the evening was wonderful! We rented the Suite above the office and found the heater to not be working in the night. They have a digital thermometer that none of us were able to figure out. I went to the office in the am early and had to get a plunger for one room and told them about the heat and was told "sorry" and that there is no one on site to take care of this. I left a message with her to have a call from a manager asap. I never heard back after several days so I called and talked with another woman who was the assistant manager. She took a message and was to have the manager call me. Several days went by and still no call. I called back and spoke with the assistant who told me I already got a discount on the room because of the way I booked online and there was nothing they could do. Unfortunately there was no communication and my family of five slept and got ready for a wedding in a room that was 60 degrees.

False Advertising. Huge L. It does not appear that they offer breakfast anymore, I tried getting some around 7:20 this morning. Only thing they had was a Coffee and Juice machine. I would figure that breakfast would be 6-9 or 7-10 or something like that, or have the hours listed in front of that are.Seems like the AC doesn t work any only blows hot air, the AC said it was 61 degrees around 3am and I was full on body sweat, musta been closer to 80 degrees.

The sheets are clean and the bed is comfortable but those are my only positives. This hotel is dog friendly and I needed somewhere to sleep with my pups. There is nowhere good for dogs to go to the bathroom. The small grassy spots are filled with trash: cigarette butts, glass, beer cans, mouse traps, etc. The outside of the property is just gross. Inside, the room is dingy and old. Stains all over the carpet, dirty bathroom floor. An old piece of food was on the nightstand - was anything cleaned other than sheets replaced? I don t understand how there are so many positive reviews about cleanliness because I m grossed out.

Rooms are adequate, but dated and worn. Beds are comfortable and clean. Found someone else s food in the room when we first walked in and the tables had food spills on them that could have easily been wiped up. The bathroom had mold around the shower and the hardware was really old and worn. We had asked for maid services and never received them, and also asked for clean towels after a few days and also never received them. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast options are very limited. Most days we saw only small boxes of cereal and granola bars. Coffee was decent. Fresh bagels or pastries would have been really nice and thoughtful. Not many options in such a small town, but we were comfortable

So this hotel is highly overrated. There is only front desk service from 7 am to 10 pm, not 24 hours as it states online. The rooms are $159/night, but you can save money if you book online. What do you get for your money, not much. Yeah, the cooms are clean. Nice fluffy pillows and well stocked with towels, coffee, and toiletries. The closet is large for a hotel room, so it's ideal for an extended ski trip with bulky clothes. That's the good stuff. Checking in the desk, staff was folding laundry and watching TV on her tablet and not aware of my presence. This was around 4:30 p.m., and I had to use the courtesy phone to get her attention. Clearly, I could see her through the doorway. During the check-in process, I kept thinking this girl does not like her job. She lacked all signs of warm, friendly customer service. I stayed later than planned to take advantage of the free continental breakfast that was stated to start at 6:30 but, in reality, started at 7 am. It's not a huge deal breaker but to find a selection of plain bagles and apple filled doughnuts to be the full menu for breakfast with coffee, oj, and cranberry apple juice to drink. It was highly disappointing. Complete buyers' remorse is how I'm feeling as I head out to face my day, still hungry. Being one of only two options travelers on Highway 285 have both priced over a hundred dollars, I would have kept driving if I wasn't dog tired when u got to Fairplay.Nearby activities: The pot shop located very close was also over priced and subpar in quality.I ate at Salado which was recommended by the employee ar the near by ExxonMobil station and enjoyed my Buffalo flank steak even with the spicy glaze. I recommend this eating establishment and will hopefully be able to return to sample their venison medallions.A huge shout out to the ExxonMobil guy for hooking me up with an amazing dinner.

The room was not clean. There was dirt and stains on the lamps, tables, and walls that easily came off when I wiped it down with a cleaning wipe, but I think the room should have been cleaned before we got there. There was also mildew on the shower tiles. The hotel itself is pretty old and dumpy. The staff isn't that great either it seems like they try to avoid eye contact and speaking to the public. I never tried to speak to them about the cleanliness of the room because honestly it didn't seem like they would care. I did try to smile and say hello several times but, they would just avert their eyes and pretend to be busy on the computer or walk to the back office.

Road construction in front of the hotel made it very difficult to get into, and the poor lady that was running the front desk must've been doing a whole bunch of other tasks too. She allowed me an early check-in. You can tell it is an old building, but they are trying to make it look nice. There is one restaurant nearby, but it was closed for the week. Due to the road construction, we just got burgers from the gas station next door.

Extenuating circumstances caused our stay here. This would not be my first choice but happened to be the only one.Evening crew was great. Daytime crew not so much!Refused an extended checkout. They would only extend the room another night.Room was just ok.Location is on the main road through town and noisy but pretty easy to access.

So this is a basic hotel - not fancy, but it felt clean and safe, which is what I was looking for. The staff are super-friendly and welcoming, and they have a big, happy dog. The room was in good order. I knocked some stars off on the room because some things were a bit tired / broken, such as the coat hook in the bathroom and chipped paint on the bathroom door... nothing detrimental to the stay, tho. I would stay here again.

Don t expect your reservation to be there when you get there. If there s a traffic jam and everyone s going there to get a room and they only have your room left but you haven t gotten there yet even though you paid for the room already and have a reservation they will give it away and leave you sleeping in your car. And then won t do right and basically play dumb like they don t understand what happened. They literally had people sleeping on the couches in the lobby. They 100% gave our room away. Customer service was awful.

Overall a great, quiet, and clean experience. Breakfast is very limited (individually wrapped pastries, cereals, and granola bars), but otherwise the only lodging in the area with air conditioning, personal fridge, and plenty of parking. Arguably the best place to stay in the immediate Fairplay area.Rooms: Rooms are average, but very clean. Queen beds seem smaller than trade size, air conditioning units are loud but work very well, and the refrigerator is small, but the water pressure in the shower and sink is awesome! Plenty of hot and cold water.Nearby activities: Hiking, small restaurants, and bars! Outside of those options, Fairplay does not have much for R&R.Safety: Hotel was nicely lit, adequate supplemental door locks, and tap-style access control to individual rooms and exterior doors.Walkability: Easy access to the next-door Asian Fusion restaurant and nearby gas station and convenience store. Otherwise due to its highway location, walkability to the nearby town is limited.Food & drinks: Breakfast menu limited to pre-packaged cereals, granola bars, donuts, and danishes. There is a nice freshly-brewed coffee bar and fridge containing 2% milk cartons.

My first time staying here, but the rest of our family has stayed once before. Very cute place. Clean and tidy, and decorated nicely. It was very nice having hot water and tea bags available in the evening. We did not have breakfast, but I got coffee twice and the breakfast offerings were very nice. The yogurts were iced properly, everything was clean and tidy, and the coffee was very good! I would stay here again anytime! thank you, Haus! Oh and your dinner and breakfast recommendations were spot on: Salon Mexico in Fairplay for amazing dinner and Alma Diner was BOMB for breakfast!

If you don't want to read it all, here's highlights: hotel is clean. Great, friendly staff. Mini fridge, hair dryer, coffee pot and iron in the room. Microwaves, vending, and ice machines on both floors, as well as a washer and dryer on 2nd floor. We have stayed here several times in the last couple months, and I am very thankful we have not had the experience of some other guests in the past. I was nervous initially, after reading other reviews (not to mention the week before we stayed at a Wyndham super 8 in Denver and had the worst hotel experience of my life), but I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel is quiet, clean, and the managers live on site. They are lovely, very friendly, and make you feel welcome. They take a genuine interest in making sure you have a good stay, and don't make you feel like you are a bother if you need something. From what I understand, they own the property down to the water, and both times I asked, they had no problem if you want to go do some panning in the river. They are under new owners, or management so that may be the reason for the difference in experiences. I would definitely recommend this hotel, though, if you are needing to stay somewhere in the area.

Small mountain town atmosphere! The woman working the counter was very friendly with a fun personality! We made reservations ahead of time, which I recommend because they sold out the night we stayed. Close to everything, walking distance to the grocery store and a few eating places. Continental breakfast included oatmeal, fruit, yogurt, granola bars, muffins, juice and coffee. The rooms look like they're being remodeled. Someone commented that the rooms didn't have a mini fridge, but ours did. There is a microwave in the common area by the vending machines and complimentary coffee.

January 09, 2023 around 8:00 pm I checked into the riverside inn in FairPlay, Colorado. I was accompanied with Backcountry Towing and Recovery who graciously was delivering me to the inn. I had just been in a truck accident with a herd of elk and he was assisting me in finding a place to stay without a working truck. He explained to Ginger( front desk clerk) the situation I was in and she was very rude and short with her answers. She even proceeded to make a comment about me not filling out the information about my truck when she knew I didn t have a vehicle. She proceeded to assign my room. This room was conjoined to another room in the hotel. I did not feel safe being a single woman in a room that was attached to a conjoining room.Around 8:30-9pm someone was vacuuming in the room conjoined to mine. They again vacuumed the same room the next morning at 8:30am. Why are you vacuuming in a hotel at these hours? The hotel room was freezing cold when I walked in. The toilet kept running and therefore I had to turn it off at the base. The closet doors were hanging barely. The glass closet doors were so dirty with some kind of liquid and kid hand print marks spread all over. The overall feeling from Ginger and the conjoining room made it a very difficult evening. This was not an experience I wanted to have when I was highly recommended to this hotel by the residents of FairPlay.

Stayed here on 2/9/22 for a night while I was in town for business. I have stayed here a few times in the past and even have had several day meetings in breakfast area. I have always recommended them until now. Last night I came back late and woke up early. Went to shower and there were no towels, not even a wash rag. I went to the front desk and they only service emergencies. Then I proceeded to look closer around the room. Dirty toilet, dirty shower curtain, floor tile coming off, stand broken on bathroom sink and gross lime marks all over the shower head and handle. I am giving them a 2 instead of a 1, because their check process was easy and the front desk manager was very friendly. Room 100 is a no go for sure. For 141 which that includes tax it was a huge disappointment.

As I ve seen others state on here, room smelled bad and sheets and towels reeked if Clorox and mildew. In addition, there was lots of hair in all of the corners of the bathroom, looks like someone took a big mop in there and pushed all of the dirt and hair into the corners. How do I know that? I went in to use the bathroom as soon as we got in and saw all of the hair instantly. Gross.Beds were comfortable but slept only about two hours as the mildew/Clorox odor on the beds was really overwhelming. Staff were nice but I will not ever stay again it s just too dirty.

Staff was super friendly and accommodating! The vending machine was giving me problems while I was trying to get a water bottle, and one of the staff promptly opened it up and handed me a few bottles free of charge. Pretty clean, very comfy, my only complaint is that the coffee maker was a little moldy but otherwise, we had a great stay!!!

I absolutely loved my stay here. I am a backpacker so having everything in close proximity or onsite is worth every dollar. The South Park brewery (HIGHLY RECOMMEND) and a grocery store is just a short walk up the road. Even better there is a guest laundry in the hotel! I didn t see any detergent and asked the staff about it - Gaia was extremely helpful and even gave me some of her personal detergent!I am so happy that I found this place and loved that they were so welcoming; even to a stinky backpacker, like myself.
