The best customer service in the state of Colorado. Began working with the Tru Automotive crew in October 2022. Austin and the crew really understand how to properly maintain a vehicle, build a reliable off-roader/overlander. They have done incredible work on my 2001 LX470, Dobinsons Suspension, 4x4 labs rear bumper, general maintenance, alignment, 35 tire mount and ensure that the fitment was proper without any rubbing, re-gear, E-locker install, sliders, skid plate. Everything has been 100% flawless, reliable and functional. These guys stand by their perfect planning and execution.Tru automotive is the most trustworthy shop in town, they are honest, stand by their pricing and follow through to ensure everything functions as it should be after the job is complete. This shop is run by a professional crew, after every service or install, the technician will explain all the work, how it was carried to completion.

The best company you could ask for if you re building an overlander. They are so kind and helpful, and think of all the things you might not. Their extensive experience means I was able to save myself hassle and doing things more than once. Can t say enough good things about every person in this building. Special shout out to Austin for talking to me about my future plans and giving me guidance, but every one of them deserves a personal shout. If you re a woman and want to build your car please go here! They don t make you feel silly for not knowing things

I ve been a customer at Tru auto now for nearly 10 years, ever since Austin was a one-man show at his old shop. I've had several services performed by Tru over this time helping me build and maintain my 08 4 Runner. Most recently I was having trouble with my EVAP system and passing emissions. I dropped the 4 Runner off on a Tuesday and they told me it would be Thursday before it was ready. They called me the following day on Wednesday to tell me that they had finished up and asked me if there was anything else I needed to be done. I asked them if they could do an alignment, oil change and transmission drain/fill. The team at Tru Auto went above and beyond with this extra work and even had my rig back sooner than expected. I finally passed emissions and my nearly 300k mile 4 Runner is back on the road thanks to the team at Tru Auto !

Austin, Colter, Billy, Devin, Joel, Dutchess and the entire crew have transformed my weak stock 4Runner into an off-road beast. Hands down the best 4x4 and off road aftermarket shop/mechanic in Denver-metro.We started with a brand new 2021 Toyota 4Runner Off Road Premium and brought it into the shop. We explained our hopes, dreams and desires and Austin swiftly stepped in to give his personal recommendations on the best go-forward path for our build. He recommended C4 Skid Pates, C4 Rock Sliders, C4 Low Pro bumpers, a Magnuson supercharger, Baja Fog Lights, Fox DSC Shocks, Dobinson springs, Sherpa Roof Rack, Air Lift airbags, Falken Wildpeak A/T3W 33" Tires, Warn 12,000lb Winch, Factor55 Fairleads and links, OSC Catch Can, ARB Onboard Twin Compressor, Nitro 488 Gears, SPC Upper Control Arms (UCA), Switch Pros Switch, Long Range America Fuel Tank and probably other things I m missing. His recommendations were all on point and the entire time we were treated with respect. The work is clean, organized and very detail-oriented. It doesn t look rushed or sloppy. These folks ACTUALLY wheel so they know the 4x4 industry inside and out. Not only from a parts perspective, but a compatibility and how the parts will work together perspective too.I can t recommend them enough. They are my go-to shop when it comes to anything 4Runner or off road. They are honest and reliable and don't recommend useless junk or low-quality parts just to make a buck. The labor costs and prices are completely fair for the amount of work and experience they bring to the table.Overall, all the parts are fully-functional and have had no issues with them so far. The truck runs great and they really do look out for you and your ideas. If something doesn t sit right, or a part isn t recommended Austin will be the first to explain why and provide other options. If you're looking for a great shop to build your dream off road 4x4 beast, look no further. Austin and the team will take great care of you.Services: Exhaust, Tires, Steering & suspension repair, General repairs & maintenance, Electrical, Body & Trim, Wheel alignment, Oil change

Used to be amazing when they were smaller but since they have grown service and repair quality is an issue. Most recently the bumper they added in 2017 was found, by another shop, to have been rubbing on a hose on my AC for years and caused a leak. $1,400 in so far but could be more. Pics show the install clearly rubbing. Could ve been wear and tear but could have been install. With other issues I don t trust them anymore. They mentioned after I gave the feedback they wish I would have brought it to them. Why? More time? The trust was lost. Do people return to restaurants that give them food poisoning? Places where they receive bad service. No.Prior issues include a squeak in the front bumper install that they thought was brakes and replaced the brakes a second time. I paid for the first set as I needed them replaced before the squeak. Second time was on them as they thought the first set was faulty. After second set of brakes replaced still squeaked brought it in again. After pressing to have the owner look at it as the tech couldn't figure out where the squeaking it was from their work from front end. The bumper that has been rubbing on my AC hose. I get it but the misdiagnosis cost me time and seemed not too hard to find once I had the owner look at. Thanks for the free brakes.Different 2001 four runner brought in. Leaking oil. Diagnosed with one expensive repair and paid them. But after speaking with a friend it didn t make sense why that repair was the cause of a large oil leak under the vehicle. I just trusted their recommendation. Asked again and the owner said it was a nut on the oil tank that wasn t put on correctly from the last oil change. Again, had to speak to the owner to get straight answers. That s what was causing the larger leak not the recommended paid for repair. We did have a little leak from the top of the engine but the larger leak was not addressed until I asked after fact. Plot twist, they had done the most recent oil change and dint put the nut on correctly. No mention of a faulty nut until I asked. No mention of this on the work order. I know the statement is we had an oil change five months ago. But am I really going to get another oil change five months after. This was totally their poor work. And the temp gage was not working when I picked it up. $1000 repair. It sure was when I dropped it off.Another occurrence. They are unresponsive in a timely manner for a build requests. Looks like another review had the same issue recently. I emailed several times without a response but they had done what seemed to be good work in the past so I wanted to go with them. Other shops responded within a few hours. I drove to the shop after several days. I would get a response, ask another question and then wait a few more days. They stated they were busy but when I stopped in the staff, including the manager were all sitting in the shop eating breakfast burritos and watching YouTube. I get you need breaks but didn't seem too professional or too busy.I have recommended friends to this shop and they have experienced the same. Long response times. After asking to speak to the owner as I worked with him in the past before I did go forward with build and pre-paid for everything. Unfortunately I did need a refund last minute for that build as we had a financial emergency. It was nice to get a refund but I paid a ton for return shipping fees. I didn t ask for an invoice to see the return fees but I did feel it was excessive. I appreciated the refund so I didn't worry too much about a receipt. There are other shops in Denver that can offer great builds, service and prices. Shop around. This experience has put me out over a grand in poor work that had to be redone. The shop I am currently going to, to fix the faulty work, is wonderful and not hard to find though a google search and talking to other Toyota owners.

Nothing but good things. A buddy had his rig prepared at TRU, and he had nothing but good things to say for good reason. Colter, Michael, and Austin have been awesome in helping me get my GX470 dialed in. They stand by their work, and if something isn tright, they make it right. No heartburn, no awkward conversations. Solid service. Highly recommend.

Honestly have nothing but wonderful things to say about Tru. I love my Toyota more than anything and feel so confident that all the guys at Tru love it just as much as me and treat it like they would their own. From scheduling an appointment to getting explanation of service, to picking it up it has been nothing but an incredible experience. I will be forever taking my 100 series Land Cruiser to these guys because they are truly the best!! From mods to basic maintenance all work will be done with the Tru Automotive team from here on out.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Tru Automotive for some much-needed car repairs, and I couldn't be more impressed with their service. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and friendly atmosphere that immediately put me at ease. The staff at Tru Automotive is not only highly competent but also incredibly knowledgeable about all things automotive. They took the time to thoroughly explain the issues with my vehicle and provided a detailed estimate for the repairs. I felt well-informed and confident in their recommendations. What truly sets Tru Automotive apart is their reliability. They completed the repairs on time, and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of their work. My car ran better than ever after their skilled mechanics had their hands on it.Trustworthiness is a rare find in the auto repair industry, but Tru Automotive embodies it. They provided me with honest and transparent pricing, and there were no surprise charges or unnecessary upsells. I felt like they genuinely cared about my vehicle's well-being and my satisfaction as a customer.Overall, I can't recommend Tru Automotive enough. If you're looking for a competent, reliable, and trustworthy auto repair shop, this is the place to go. They've earned my trust and my future business, and I'm confident they'll do the same for anyone seeking top-notch automotive services.

I'm sad to say I am rather disappointed in my experience with this shop. I brought my 3rd gen 4runner here for an alignment after installing new shocks/springs/uca's. When I made the appointment I was told they'd address the tire rubbing and get it all dialed. I chose this shop as they specialize in Toyota 4WD and had some great reviews. When I dropped off my truck I asked them to please double check all shock bolts were torqued to spec and again asked them to address the rubbing, and told them I had installed adjustable UCA's which they could adjust accordingly to solve the rubbing issue.I got a call from them saying that my tie rods were seized and they'd need to be replaced in order to complete the alignment. I agreed to this being it's an older vehicle and I had experienced some issues freeing bolts myself. When I got my vehicle back it still pulled to the right slightly and the rubbing had not been addressed. I ended dropping roughly 1200 bucks to not get what I initially went in for. I figured I would just let it go however when my truck was towed recently the passenger rear shock became disconnected from the vehicle when it was lifted, only affirming they didn't check that they were torqued to spec. Maybe my technician was new, who knows but I can't help but think that the tie rod issue could have been resolved without having to replace them. In addition, I mentioned to the guys at the counter I had intentions of re-gearing and installing front/air lockers with on-board compressor, adding a supercharger and several other items which would total well over 15k and was blown off although when I had called initially the guy told me when I came in that I could talk with them in depth about my build and put together a plan. Needless to say I wasn't feeling the 3rdGenT4R luv I was anticipating. I've since found another shop to work with on the remains aspects of the build.

This is the easiest choice you can make for your vehicle. I've been in the off-road industry and community for 15 years and have worked with dozens of shops across the country. It just doesn't get any better than this.Austin and his team are true professionals and the exact kind of people you want to see working on your truck. I was referred to TRU Automotive by an industry friend because I had a unique project, and the few shops I knew of weren't comfortable taking it on. Austin asked the right questions and even spoke to the manufacturer of the suspension system to better understand the work ahead.Everything turned out amazing! We ran into a few snags due to the vehicle, which was more or less expected, and watching how quickly they worked together to solve them was the icing on the cake. There's nothing more to be said - this is the place you were looking for. Thanks again Austin and the rest of the crew! You definitely earned a loyal customer if you want that big German toaster back in there!Services: Tires, Steering & suspension repair, Wheel alignment, Brake service & repair

Austin and his team are the best! Very knowledgeable and honorable. I had a fuel issue that no one could seem to pinpoint. I was so frustrated that no one could figure this out that I was sincerely ready to sell the truck. They pinpointed the problem and ended up replacing the fuel regulator and one of my injectors. Truck runs beautiful now! They are also very knowledgeable about off-road add-ons and suspension upgrades. Great guys and reasonable rates!Troy A.

These guys do an amazing job. Took my Raptor there to get a new bumper on with a light bar. Time and price was fair and it looks amazing. I sat in their waiting room while it was getting worked on so was able to hear their conversations with other customers as well. Very honest shop, if they cannot do the job they are going to find a place that can do it better than them. I will be using them again for installs and basic maintenance.Service: Body & Trim

Tru couldn't do quality work if their lives depended on it.I first brought my truck here in spring 2022 and spent well over $10k at the shop that year building out a 4Runner. I have absolutely nothing good to say about them. I'm actually astounded by the degree of arrogance and incompetence I've experienced from Tru.Despite my better judgement and the reoccurring issues with their communication during prior appointments, them ordering multiple incorrect parts, and generally giving me poor to mediocre quality work (bushings misaligned and smashed, improper installations, clearly not test driving after their work, etc.), I hired Tru again in Sep. 2023 to fix some rear axle issues I'd encountered following an accident in May. I paid thousands for all the parts they said would fix it (regearing, axle shaft, axle seals, bearing, brakes). Then Tru totally ignored my calls, emails, and texts for over a week until I physically went to the shop. When I did finally got my truck back, I almost immediately saw the axle seal leaking again. I returned it, and they replaced the seal. This time, was already leaking by the time I got there to pick it up, so they replaced it again. It failed for the third time. Then the other side's seal, which hadn't failed before, failed. When I asked whether there could be an underlying cause, the owner Austin assured me there wasn't (over the advice of his own mechanics). I insisted, and he said he was positive it was only the seals, but that we could send out my axle housing for inspection if I wanted. He advised me to try the new seals first and said that they'd take care of me if he was wrong. I agreed because I couldn't continue waiting.Well, to no one's surprise, it blew yet again, a week or two later, this time stranding me on a highway in UT, and costing >$800 dollars and a canceled family trip. They paid a local shop for another seal so I could limp back to their shop. I then sourced and bought a new axle housing, which they promised would fix things. They installed it. It didn't. It's now mid-November, and I'd lost countless hours of work waiting around or driving/from to their shop, not to mention that I hadn't had my truck since early September.I asked explicitly if it could be the other axle shaft, since it was literally the only thing in the whole rear axle assembly that had not been replaced at that point. They said no. Seal was replaced again, seal blew again. Then they finally agreed it could be the other axle shaft. However, they never sent me an estimate or communicated that it would cost $650 for the new axle shaft until I was there to pick up. I didn't want any trouble and just wanted my truck, so I paid originally but later requested a refund due to the ongoing failures/delays and their prior promises. They agreed and issued me the refund. It seemed like things were fine for a couple of months, but now it's leaking again, and so is my rear diff that they just regeared. When I called today, they told me to pound sand. When I requested a refund given that the issue from September was never resolved, Colter, the shop manager, falsely retorted I hadn't paid them anything to refund (don't worry, I already submitted my receipt to the BBB).After taking it to a new shop and paying over $1k to fix the axle seal, their first question was who had done the job last because Tru had massively screwed up the last install and could have caused catastrophic failure had I not caught it when I did. I also have to fix my rear diff now too.A couple other words of warning for anyone considering taking a vehicle here:- During the many days that I spent sitting around the shop, I witnessed at least two other owners returning to Tru complaining about their same problems reoccurring or new problems developing after Tru recently worked on their vehicles.- They claim to be a Toyota specialty shop, but they told me that OEM was the same as OE and then, after I corrected them, that Toyota doesn't even manufacture OEM 3rd gen parts anymore. I should have run then.Services: Steering & suspension repair, General repairs & maintenance, Electrical, Wheel alignment, Brakes, Brake service & repair

First experience with TRU Automotive and definitely will not be my last! The whole crew was dedicated and customer first in their approach to not only me but all the others I saw coming and going. Great communication along the way and I couldn t be happier with the results.

Tru Automotive works on all our vehicles. Recently gears and lift on my 94 jimmy and complete steering/suspension replacement on my 2001 sierra. Very experienced crew from the office through the shop. Gears, lifts, mechanical work, and alignments!I also run a shop neaby in a similar industry specializing in welding fabrication and we refer customers to Tru Automotive for mechanical work every week. I know I can trust their work and can comfortably send my customers there.
