Awesome folks. Got me in and out in less than an hour for a flywheel resurface. With more and more shops not offering this service and having rare parts that are insanely scarce to find I m glad shops like this are still around. I ll definitely be using them again if I need to get more stuff of the like done!

Great shop to work with. Honest and very knowledgeable. They provided an estimate of the work and detailed all costs. The work was done quickly as well. I'll definitely be using then again.

Sad!!! Great work but Really CRAPPY P.R. In fact down right delplorable! No JOKE, Avoid these creeps at all cost! I am a 40 year Maintenance Technician with a major airline, my Son is a Certified Master Toyota Technician. We needed a flywheel turned, in all fairness, they did a GREAT job and did it in record time...for this I compliment them. BUT...we dropped it off for a $65 turn and went to lunch. I got a call and was told there was a bolt broken off in the fly wheel and would we like them to extract it....well I knew the bolt was there but was merely one of the pressure plate attach bolts. These bolts DO NOT bottom out and are not corroded in place. so extraction would be such a SIMPLE task...most likely place a rubber tip on a drill motor and back it out or worse case scenario take a flat head and back it out. NO WAY as in NO WAY is this a task worth what they ripped us off for. And I mean RIPPED us off. I told her, sure, we appreciate you extracting it, thinking they would merely do it as a courtesy or possibly charge us $10. Well, my bad for giving them a green light without asking first! So my fault but really, take advantage of us? The flywheel was ready in less than hour ...awesome for them and it looks great! But when we picked it up there was a $45 charge for the bolt extraction.. REALLY...I politly asked for some consideration as we could have bought a new flywheel for $80; but we opted to have it turned because there is a lunch place close to their shop that we like, so we even timed the drop off and pick up to corrdinate with having lunch together. But really, from $65 to $110. Pretty damn sad folks, This is called a rip off! I should have told them to stick it and just left and went to Oriely's and picked up the one they had in stock for $80. But I have a bit more class and respect than that. So, since I didn't ask the price of the extraction I took it on the chin. These people lost me as a customer forever!!! I will go miles out of my way to the next machine shop. I suggest you do the same! What absolute arrogant business pratice. Again, I want to emphasise their work is exeptional and very timely ...BUT ...

Great machine shop to work with. I wanted to do a BBK on my vehicle on the cheap so I needed new wheels. I was able to score bigger wheels for cheap but the hub bore size needed to be enlarged as well as the rotors out of a GT500.

I was recommended area machine by a friend around a year and a half ago for some machine work. My block went in from a previous shop and area machine fixed it and made it look flawless. First pic previous shop, second area machine.

They got me in last minute on a Friday to resurface my flywheel. Not a big job for a machinist, but they got me taken care of fast and were done within an hour. Fantastic machine shop, great owners, and great prices!

Genuinely good work at good prices. Backed up with orders but not slow by any means, just means busy.

I had gone to area machine shop after bad experience with another shop. I had taken the original motor out of 1956 Chevy. Rick did a fantastic job of not only rebuilding this original motor back to its original state, but he was also very instrumental in finding cylinder head for this car. They were only made in 1955 and 1956. I highly recommend this machine shop

A friend had a 454 rebuilt with performance upgrades, one being a Thumper cam. I'm the small shop that did the install. They provided the instructions for cam break in, 20-30 minutes after starting at 2000 to 2500 rpm. The engine started right up, ran as instructed, had to stop because electric pump quit, but quickly fix and finished. Expensive at $4k but sweet. Needed a stall converter because at idle shift into gear the tires chirp just once.

I had them rebuild the head on my 2004 Volvo s40 1.9t, which is a dual overhead cam setup that doesn't have any device for valve adjusting other than precise machining. These guys did a terrific job. The quality of the machine work is top shelf, and their service and price is great as well! They are very knowledgeable and easy to work with. Thank you Area!

Thank you so much for your work Kelly and Rick!!! I took a set of shovelheads, panheads, and knuckleheads in all at once and they rebuilt all of them perfectly. They fixed the stripped out holes in the panheads and did all of the valve jobs in record time. I really appreciate the attention to detail. You guys are great!!

I must say by far the best mechine shop I have ever been to and done business with. Kelly and rick were freaking awesome to work wit. Always polite on the phone and in person. Helped me bore out a 350 cleaned the crank, intake cam bearing install. They let me know my heads had cracked and called me to let me know they had another set which was freaking awesome!!! Will definitely be doing and recommending them a lot more business. Thank you so much

I have been using Area's machine shop services, since 2013, and I have yet to have a bad experience. Rick & Kelly are friendly, thorough and very knowledgeable. I have used other metro area machine shops, and I have not found one that has the same surface finish that Area can produce on a set of cylinder heads. Highly recommended.

Looked all over town for a machine shop to install spindle bearings and ream them for new king pins for my 1952 Ford F1. A comment made on Tapatalk about a similar search for the king pin service highlighted Area Automotive Machine. Took them in and two hours later they were done! Excellent work, friendly encounter, extremely affordable. I would highly recommend this shop.

I have used Rick's shop for over 30 years. He and his father before him are always honest and fair. The work is good. The problem with most peoples experience is the damage is often worse than they knew. After parts are cleaned and inspected more wear and damage is found. The machinist has more bad news for the customer and nobody likes that. People expect the machinist to makechicken salad out of chicken $!X*. Well you know what I mean.Dale, Certified Master Tech w/ L1 Advanced level diagnostics.

Area machine - This is a machine shop, not a parts store. I'm not sure how the name got posted this way. I don't have anything to do with these guys, just been in two times now.The guy at Area Machine said that this is the shop that a lot of the Harley dealerships send their work to, along with several of the custom builders in the area.I busted a retainer on my TC and messed up my heads. When I dropped them off, I found out they were the ones that did the original port job on them.Another time I had the jugs on my Iron Head punched out. I dropped them off one morning and got a call the next afternoon that they were done. I paid almost half the price other shops would have charged for the job. They have a pretty awesome stash of old jugs and heads for Harley guys, not to mention common engine parts for hot rodders ect.I'm hoping 3rd time goes as well. I'm dropping off another set of TC heads for a brother. They were water damaged, so we are not sure what all is bad.

Area auto parts has been in business for a long time, so they should know better than to be completely rude and disgusting on the phone. The lady that answered was vulgar, rude and ridiculously arrogant for no reason. I am sorry that you had a bad day, but do not take it out on people asking questions about your business. If you do not want phone calls, then make a a website. It is 2021, those that do not have a website are not worth your time. Based on the lack of customer service I received, this is not a place I would suggest getting any work done or even wasting your time calling and defiantly not a business partner.
