I recently popped a tire on a mountain pass in crested butte, and after being turned away by many busy or closing auto shops I called this mechanic. He told me to come right then, and he not only took a look at my tire for me (unfortunately too far gone) but he also offered to add air to my donut tire, adjust 4WD settings for the meantime, and gave me loads of helpful advice and support in getting home to Colorado Springs. This mechanic is not only intelligent and capable, but kind and compassionate.Service: Tires

When my boss broke down at the top of Monarch Pass during a family vacation, we had a heck of a time finding a mechanic familiar with diesel trucks that had availability! Slate Cut Diesel came HIGHLY recommended by several other business owners-they did NOT steer us wrong! They were responsive, reasonable & did a GREAT job on the truck! Gaylamd is by far the most experienced mechanic when it comes to diesel by far. He diagnosed my ram 3500 in seconds and all though my turbo was shot he gave me the straight up truth. He's very honest and knows what he's talking about

Galand was fantastic and very kind. We thought something was up with our break or wheel bearing and he was able to look at our civic on very short notice. He gave us piece of mind, and even dropped us off and picked us up from the bus stop so we wouldn't have to walk along Hwy 135 and potentially get hit!

Me and some buddies got in a bind in crested butte with a blown radiator and made a phone call to Slate. From the first phone call to the very last, we were treated with the utmost respect a man can give. Slate is an all around great business and I highly recommend everyone use them for the mechanic needs. Great price and did a great job on my truck.

Galand helped us out with our Sprinter van that wouldn't start due to excessively cold temps. He showed up in 10 minutes and got us started! We had some engine light issues and he helped with that, as well. He was fast, friendly and totally helpful! Thank you Galand!

Galand was a dream to work with even though we had a nightmare situation. We were stranded in Crested Butte, hundred of miles from home. Once again Galand saves the day! our truck was in limp mode, MAX 5 mph speed, due to Def issue and he fixed it! If you own a Dodge you better get to know Galand! He is the best!

While hunting in the area up from Central Texas my front end on my Dodge 3500 blew up. No body in the area would even look at it for two weeks. Slate Cut took it in and started repairs before any one else would have seen it. They did a fast and great job. I highly recommend them

Kindness and professionalism blew me away. My van(home for the week) had a bad coolant leak. He put a rush on the job and was able to get it done the same day! Not to mention dropping me off back in Crested Butte and picking me up when it was finished. And the price....he really had a chance to exploit my situation but did nothing of the sort. It really was a great experience!

I am vacationing in Gunnison with my family. My truck had a diesel exhaust fault. Tried every business in Gunnison with none willing to help for weeks out. Even with the explanation of not being able to leave until repaired. We found Slate Cut Diesel who was friendly, professional and knowledgeable of what was going on with my truck. He understood I was stranded without any help. He fixed my truck within an hr of me arriving and without him our vacation would have been a disaster. My fianc� and I were broke down on our vacation from hell, Galan went above and beyond to help us out and get us back on the road. He is a very knowledgeable diesel technician and does the job right. I would highly recommend him if you are in the area and need a qualified technician to take (or tow) your truck to. He s a stand-up human being in general and can be trusted to do repairs on your truck. I wish there were more people like him in the world. Thank you Galan !!! Drove 16 hours from home to CB and the next morning my brakes were horrible. The first shop I went to in town were unable to fix them until 3 days later and they were very unclear about pricing etc so I called around to every shop in town and found only Galand (at slate cut diesel) to be very helpful over the phone. I brought my car in and he checked all my brakes again and found they all needed to be replaced. He showed me how bad my brakes were and he was able to get the parts that day. He even gave me a ride back to my Airbnb because the taxi I was using was very expensive; during the drive he explained how to use manual in my car so I wouldn t mess up the brakes again on the mountain roads. He ran into an issue where one of my brake parts rusted so badly and no shops nearby sold the parts. He went above and beyond and drove to Colorado Springs (a 3+ hour drive) to get them and finished the car the next day. Best car mechanic I ve ever used and just a great person! No surprises when it came time to pay and he was very upfront and fair. Wish he lived in my home town. Fully trusted him to care for my car and he explained everything so I knew what was going on.

I am extremely happy and grateful with Slate Cut and its owner Galand Niccoli. I was in a bind late Thu, and I called Galand at Slate Cut. My wife and I were only staying in town until Sat, and my brake pads had worn out completely on our trip from out of state. Galand was extremely professional, got me back on the road on the next day, and even provided transportation to and from Crested Butte. Its a month later, I am just getting around to a review, and the brakes are working like new.Service: Brakes

We are up from Dallas. I had an issue with my air bags. Galand got it working with spare parts so the bags would hold air so I could pull the trailer home from Almont. No charge. I felt bad as I has like $13 cash and he wouldn t run anything on a card. Can t say enough about the guy. We are here each year for two weeks. I ll be back next year and will have a nice surprise for him.

I recently had a head gasket failure on my Duramax while vacationing in Gunnison. Fortunately for me I also meet Galand Niccoli while on my trip. He was awesome through the whole experience and did a great job diagnosing the issue and giving me some real numbers right away. I ended up having to replace my engine and Galand had zero hesitation about taking on this huge job. I was also amazed at all of the extra things that he did for me at no charge. Me and my truck couldn't be more pleased with the results. Do yourself a big favor and go see Galand before wasting your time elsewhere.

I brought my truck with +300k miles on it to Slate Cut to get some things fixed and have it looked over so it will last me forever. After a couple days with Galan, my truck has never driven better! The service was pro in every way... I will be a customer for life.
