Traveled to Crested Butte on a ski trip when we noticed we had a screw in our tire. We called this shop in desperate need of patch job when they said they could do it but we would have to drop the car off overnight. We said okay, but asked if they could put on the donut for us instead because this was our only form of transportation. They said no. Didn't even think about it. They then gave us the idea to change the donut ourselves and bring them the flat tire??? and on top of that we could not do it in their parking lot??? So we really had no choice but to change it and bring them the tire as this was a desperate situation. We asked for a patch (because they're known to be better) and they plugged the hole... Then to put the cherry on top, they wouldn't put the fixed tire back on and told us to do it ourselves because "it didn't take you very long to do it earlier". They took advantage of us because they knew we were in a tough situation and had no other options. Would not recommend

Last summer, my vehicle lost power in Crested Butte and went into limp mode. After getting chewed out by a "friendly local" for having the audacity to break down in their driveway, I managed to get my vehicle over to CB Auto.They had my vehicle for well over a week and charged me an hourly rate to simply do diagnostics. Although they claimed that they were doing their due diligence to figure out the problem, I drove by their overflow parking area where my car was parked and didn't see any movement for days. After a week or so of "diagnostics," they told me that they couldn't figure out the problem and I should just scrap my vehicle as it wasn't worth repairing. As a modest ski industry worker, that's not exactly an option, but I guess they saw my out of state plates and assumed I had money to waste.They ended up charging me almost $1000 bucks to not fix anything and waste a lot of my time. When I went to get my car, I found that they had just tossed the filthy engine cover on my front seat, leaving dirt and oil all over the interior.To conclude the saga, I ended up talking to a hobbyist mechanic friend who gave me some better ideas as to what the problem might be. I had my vehicle towed to a more reputable shop, where they managed to get it up and running for the price of a simple $200 component. My vehicle runs perfectly fine now, and just made a 1,200 mile drive from CO to WA.Bottom line, I wouldn't trust CB Auto to watch my dog much less fix my car.

We are tourists here for a few days, and our car has been shuddering while changing gears since we got into the mountains. We popped into the shop unscheduled as we were super anxious about it and Daniel, the owner, gave us the time of day and even gave the car a quick drive despite being very busy. He quelled our fears and gave us the advice we needed, and we left with peace of mind to be able to finish our CB trip and get back to Denver just fine.

The steering linkage alignment loosened on a well maintained Ford Excursion. The front tires suddenly looked cross-eyed !This scary problem happened while almost at Schofield pass, 12 miles from Crested Butte! We drove uphill and approached a blind curve on a 4WD dirt road. An approaching car came fast downhill in the middle of the road. Our driver used our uphill momentum and turned right, to the side of the road to avoid the downhill car. Still, the steering linkage alignment should not have loosened!The Excursion was towed to CB Auto Repair. They had new parts sent overnight and had the car repaired the next afternoon. (Luckily, as our group had two cars, we still got to enjoy two days of wildflower hikes!)Top, top, top repair shop! Professional, speedy, honest, friendly, and affordable. My brake line snapped and I about nearly plunged to my death off a 75 foot drop. I was heading out of CB to head home to KC when it happened. I was towed to CB auto. Everyone told me I d probably be stuck in town for a while I walked up Monday morning and the guys at CB Auto Repair took care of my issue immediately. It was done on the same day! They were incredibly kind and understanding of my situation (that I was stuck and needed to get home). I was nervous to drive my car after everything that happened but after talking to them I completely trusted it was totally safe to drive. They fixed everything up quickly and efficiently! I couldn t be more grateful for them and for such a pleasant experience. You just never know.. but they were amazing & car works great.Services: Wheel alignment, Brakes

The guys at CB auto have recently done work on three of the cars in our family. They were prompt with communication, fair on price, and on time with the repairs (one of which another shop misdiagnosed and wanted to charge thousands of dollars for, but CB auto repaired the actual problem for much less). Go to 'em.

I was in Crested Butte for 3 days and needed to get my brakes looked at before going over the pass. They were slammed but Daniel was able to squeeze me in and check the brakes out. They were in good shape. He did not charge me for the eval, I think mainly because they were so busy, he closed the account before I got there. Great customer service. Amy was excellent getting me in. Daniel was honest and trustworthy. I would not hesitate to use them for any service.Service: Brakes

Thank you so much for making sure my car was in good condition for the drive back over Cottonwood Pass! Everyone was kind, engaging and generous.I had a new noise appear when I was in CB and these guys took the time to look at it for me near the end of the day. You are the best! I highly recommend CB Auto Repair. These gentlemen were super helpful with our complicated flat tire experience; we came from out of town & they advised us with trustful information, set us up with a new spare tire, filled our donut tire with air, and answered all of our questions. They were positive and super friendly during the whole encounter. I would come back to them in a future time of need. Thank you for your help ! We appreciate their quality service.

I highly recommend CB Auto. I was visiting CB from Denver when my car had a problem. I had my car towed to CB Auto on a Sunday night, and by the time I spoke to them first thing Monday morning they had already figured out the issue. They fixed my car quickly and came in under their original estimate. They communicated with me regularly from start to finish and were a pleasure to work with. I noticed that another reviewer commented this was they best experience they had ever had with an auto shop - I second that. I only wish they were in Denver where I live so they could be my go to shop at home!

These guys were amazing. CB Auto provided the most genuine & honest experience I've ever had at an auto shop. My car started to make odd noises while driving over Monarch Pass to CB for a weekend trip with friends. My friends needed to catch flights from DIA early Monday morning and fixing the car before then seemed unlikely. I called the shop and reached John right before closing Friday evening. Without having an appointment or ever using CB Auto prior, John offered to take a drive with my vehicle to assure it s safety for my return trip Sunday. The crew was quick to diagnose my car s alignment issue and then, stayed past close to fix the problem! As a result of the complications, I needed a new tire to replace my completely worn down one. John called a shop in Gunnison on my behalf (one of few open on Saturdays) to see if they had the size tire I needed & then confirmed they could work on my car first thing the next morning.The guys were extremely friendly and helpful from my initial call to the end of my visit. When I asked how much I owed them, they told me not to worry about it. Our trip back to Denver would have been delayed through Monday, had it not been for their willingness to fit me in that evening.CB Auto, THANK YOU!

If I could rate them higher than a 5, I would. It started with Amy on the phone actually caring about my issue. They immediately were able to look at my car to see if there was a possible easy fix. When it appeared more complicated, they made time to properly diagnose the problem. Dennis was in contact with me throughout the entire process and explained every step. I couldn't get my truck to start after stopping for dinner in town. I was able to have a friend tow the truck to this shop and leave it there overnight. We showed up first thing in the morning to and got greeted by fantastic service from the start. Dennis told me to come back around noon and we would go over options for what we could do. When we came back he had a solution ready to go! We were miraculously able to get the truck started after every sign pointed to a hopeless cause. Dennis was never less than professional and extremely helpful. I can't talk highly enough of these guys and I hope that their business does extremely well because having a trustworthy mechanic in a small mountain town is a serious blessing!Service: Auto engine diagnostic

The guys at CB auto repair are top notch! I had a nail in my tire and they patched it the same day. Despite their lot being full of cars to be repaired, they were able to fit me in and patch the tire. I highly recommend!Service: TiresService: Tires

Very impressive experience. Driving from Boulder, our Pilot's engine light came on in CB which is a huge concern being a long way away from your own trusted auto mechanic. Called John at CB Auto Repair and had clear, competent communication. Brought in the car and Daniel(?) pulled the code, researched it on-line, gave me the printout (a switch failure that shuts down cylinders to save fuel in certain driving conditions) and discussed with me possible causes and remedies and worked through a plan and alternatives. He knew his stuff and was a great communicator! He reset the code (which hasn't come back on in the last 2 days). I asked how much I owed him and they said "don't worry about it". Overall, a fantastic experience and I would highly recommend CB Auto Repair should you have any issues with your car.

Our oil line ruptured on the way to Crested Butte for a vacation. Our car had to be towed to Crested Butte. Daniel and the Crested Butte Auto Repair team professionally and quickly repaired our vehicle. The price was reasonable and the service was friendly. Daniel also helped us get a refund from Toyota for the repair and towing. I highly recommend Crested Butte Auto Repair!

I had an already-warped rotor and decided to go ahead and replace the front pads and rotors before descending Monarch again, driving home from CB. John worked me into an already busy end of week schedule, got parts and had me fixed up by the end of the next day. Parts were expensive, but it's the mountain west and I was ready for that. What I wasn't ready for was the very reasonable labor time and rate. Maybe I'm just jaded from other experiences, but I was really happy with my experience at CB Auto Repair. Good, solid work. Good advice. Fair price. High quality parts. Worked to get me fixed up on my vacation schedule. I don't expect any more or less. Thanks, John.

Amazing service! It's a concerning thing when you're from out of town and have car issues. Thankfully, the team took great care of our rental car. I'd highly recommend that you give them a visit if you have any car troubles at all.

Dishonest, sub-par service. I paid $75 to have my cigarette lighter/charger repaired so that I could drive home to Arizona and charge my cell phone. It worked when I picked up my car but stopped working by the time I got home. I called John, who is a very nice guy, but he fumbled his way explaining to me what happened. I had someone else take a look at it and all it was was a simple blown fuse. They said they replaced the entire fixture because it was broken. I do not believe I was told the truth but rather, taken advantage of as a woman traveling alone. I asked for a partial refund and no ownership or fault was taken. I was ripped off. Very disappointed. I will gladly remove this review if more action is taken, John. Thank you.

I was stuck in CB with a flat tire a few weeks ago. I drove over to their shop and they were able to squeeze me in and fix my tire within 1.5hours. I made it back to Denver safely. Thank you!

My granddaughter recently moved to Crested Butte from Michigan. She not only needed brake work done, but also some collision work. Being totally unfamiliar with the area, I googled for brake work in CB and found John at Crested Butte Auto Repair. He was not only able to schedule the brake repair relatively quickly, but he also recommended a collision repair center in Gunnison. Being far away is very difficult when trying to help our granddaughter in these matters. I was gratified to talk with someone who was extremely helpful and trustworthy. His prices are very comparable to what we pay in Michigan. Thanks, John. Would recommend you to anyone who needs your services.

Went to this business on a Monday morning at 835 am. No cars in the two bay shop, it is spotless, I am behind a local because the owner engages with him on what needs repaired on his vehicle. I tell Daniel that I need a flat fixed as it appears I picked up a nail enrolled to Crested Butte from Texas. He tells me he cannot get to me today, to go to Altitude Auto Repair as they can help me, he is too busy. Thankfully I did go to Altitude Auto Repair and was taken care of. Please do not use these guys, they are rude to outsiders, and are unprofessional. I give them a negative 5 stars. Nobody from out of state should bother with these classless individuals, who treat visitors to their town with such disrespect. I am upset to have give them one star.

I came in with a rental car with a rock stuck in the brakes. John and his team were busy but they took a look at it and fixed it immediately - and didn't charge. Great to have such friendly, helpful service!

Absolutely amazing service! John and Daniel went out of their way to make sure I knew exactly what was going on with my car. They went over every option I had for repairs and the expense and outcome of each. I would recommend CB auto to anyone looking for honest and affordable service!
