Contravans saved the day with a van renovation that will keep us adventuring with a baby! We bought our van in 2019 as a couple with a dog and it was great for both long and short trips. There was a closet behind the drivers seat that had a toilet and a floor drain for bucket showers that we used as storage instead of the intended bathroom. I always wanted to take it out to add more seating or a flip top bench, but never had a real reason to do it. When we found out we were pregnant, we knew we'd have to finally add those seats to keep our van adventures alive. I called around to a few outfitters in Colorado and Contravans not only was ready to take on the work, they seemed excited! I felt like they really understood our needs and worked with us to make this renovation happen. They never made me feel like the project was 'too small' or 'unimportant' and they really paid attention to the details. They even 3D printed a few small pieces to plug up holes from removing the original drains. Contravans went above and beyond. I would recommend them to anyone looking to build or renovate a campervan. They are definitely a company you can trust will do impeccable custom work and communicate with you through the whole process. I will be coming back for any future work we need done!

Truly the best van builder/designer/shop in CO! I've been using Contravans for the past 2 years, they first helped me choose the right van for my needs, patiently walked me through the design process/choices and made critical suggestions on styles/products that ended up giving me the best value and fit all my specific camper van needs.I am extremely happy with all the work they've performed on my transit; their buildouts are extremely high-quality and the craftsmanship is as good as it gets. Beyond that, their attention to detail is incredible, they never try to sell me anything I don't want/need, and pricing is always very fair.I highly recommend them to anyone regardless of whether you are starting to look for your first van build or already have a van that needs upgrades or any work done.

Kurt and his Contravan team helped service our Webasto furnace when it failed on our ski trip in the Rockies.His team of knowledgeable techs replaced the burner and adjusted the fuel for high altitude use.I toured several of the vans his firm was building and was very impressed with the craftsmanship.From build to service, Kurt and his team are pros!

I'm super pleased with the work done by ContraVans in converting my Transit Connect to a camper van. Kurt and his team were easy to work with, professional, and communicated closely on all aspects.of the job. They were also very conscientious in doing an excellent job on the upholstery and in making sure all the electrical systems were in good order before I left Denver. The van is working out perfectly, giving me the comfort and convenience i was hoping for in my travels. I highly recommend ContraVans on the quality and professionalism of their work.

Perfect experience with Contravans, from the purchase of a new van, conceptualizing a custom design, and seeing the process to finish on time and within budget.All of our specific needs were met and we are better prepared for vanlife due to the advice and input given by the entire Contravans team. We were given a 3D model of our idea, weekly updates on progress, and the final product matched the original model perfectly. The construction is sturdy and incredibly quiet, even off-road.Post-purchase, Contravans have continued to provide second-to-none support and advice to assist us in our own customizations. Anyone would be well-served to look to Contravans for full or partial van builds.Update 11/22/23.....Still 5 stars, still a great van! We've done 23,000 miles and the van has provided us with an amazing experience. The hardware and construction has definitely held up in environments that would have tested any RV that I've owned in the past. And even though it's been almost 9 months of full time living, the Contravan team has provided fantastic support and advice throughout the process. Kurt, Dillon, and the rest of the Contravans team have built an exceptional company that is second to none.

I can't tell you how easy it was to work with this company. From the first meeting, until picking up my van, Kurt and his team were honest, helpful and professional. They ask good questions to help you figure out exactly what you are looking for in your conversion. My van is so perfect for my needs, and I am one happy camper.

I brought a unique challenge to Kurt and the Contravans team. My project wasn't a Van life need but rather very high specification need in creating a first of its kind wildlife tourism vehicle. Contravans was able to create ways to do what I wanted and despite being their first time doing this type of custom floor with flexible seating they executed, and the results are brilliant. Throughout the process I could tell they cared, were up for a challenge and communicated well. Highly recommended and will definitely use them for future projects.

Contravans went above and beyond our expectations. We needed an electrical refresh on our already existing system. They were able to completely refresh our only partially functioning electrical system into a fully functioning one. They were able to get us in super quickly and Kurt made it very easy to communicate with them. Would HIGHLY recommend these guys to anyone looking for a full build out or even just improvements on their current build. They are professional, efficient, and really know what they are doing!Update: We had some more issues with our previously DIY electrical system. Kurt was super responsive and able to get it in for a diagnosis last minute. The team went to work immediately and was able to diagnose the issue, fix it completely, and also install some awesome bug screens all in a day. Our electrical is now running great and our van is bug free! Thank you Contravans.

Amazing space created in my NV200 van, they provide the highest quality materials and service. Now 2 years later, I had an issue which required some repairs to the interior. Kurt and the crew at Contravans were extremely supportive and helpful throughout the process. They were ready with the parts and waiting for us as we drove to Denver from Oregon JUST to have Kurt do our repairs! They were on it and finished in less than a day and we were on our way. Its hard these days to find people who care like Kurt and his employees. I would give them five stars any day of the week! Thanks guys!

We are extremely satisfied with the quality work Kurt and the Contravans team did on our van for a reasonable price. We had a gas heater installed in our 2018 Ford Transit including dropping the fuel tank to install a direct fuel line so we did not need an auxiliary fuel tank. They offered a competitive price for this labor intensive job and were communicative throughout the process. They also checked the build on the van which we did not know a ton about since we purchased it from a private seller already built out. They provided a list of items that could be repaired and their order of importance. Kurt was very receptive to our specific needs and helped us decide which repairs to complete. We will definitely use Contravans again for future a la carte van services!

Contravans converted our 2023 high roof Ford Transit Trail cargo van into a beautiful and highly functional campervan. With one long trip completed, we are thrilled with all the elements of the conversion - the excellent functionality of all the electrical components and lighting, the beauty and solidity of the cabinetry and countertop, and the overall livability of the van. The attention that Contravans gave to the design details really stands out. Kudos to the installation team for a fabulous job!We chose Contravans for the conversion because we liked the style and layout of their van interiors, as well as the materials they used, as shown in the conversions on their website, and also because of numerous positive reviews praising Contravans supportive and collaborative approach with its customers. From our first conversation with Kurt about Contravans possibly doing our conversion, we were impressed with his professionalism, knowledge, and experience. The first step in the design process was Kurt soliciting our input about our goals for the van and our intended use of the van. Based on this, he gave excellent advice about the layout and features that would work best for our needs, and based on his experience he suggested features for our consideration that we hadn t thought of as we were new to the van world. This was really important for getting to a van interior that was just right for us. In the design phase, Contravans was able to accommodate all items we decided we wanted to be installed, often using creative solutions to make everything work. Kurt and Dylan were very patient with us through a couple of design iterations, and their 3D van design software was super helpful for envisioning how the van would look and feel when converted. We had a long wait to get our van from Ford, and when potential cargo vans came available, Kurt helpfully answered all our questions about whether the features of those particular vans would play well with the planned conversion.Once we obtained a van, Kurt s team began working on it within a couple of weeks and completed the whole conversion in about 2 months. Kurt sent us a progress report and photos at the end of each week, which was great for seeing the van evolve. When we came to Colorado to finally see it and take delivery, it was like a dream come true! Kurt and his team spent an entire afternoon with us, going through the operation of the van s systems and educating us on everything. This was super helpful and much appreciated.We HIGHLY recommend Contravans for your van conversion! Look no further!

The guys at Contravan did a wonderful job of installing the Thule awning on my van. I thought I might do the job myself, but was concerned about the issues of mounting it to the curved fiberglass surfaces on my van, and the tight working spaces in the van's finished interior. The results look great and the fasteners in the interior are out of sight. They did the work on time and on budget. They were a pleasure to do business with!

It was a real pleasure to work with Kurt and the whole team at Contravans. We were looking to convert our 2011 Chevy Express and there were not many builders who wanted to work with the van here in Colorado. Kurt was extremely prompt in his response that his company could take on the project. From the beginning steps of planning, to having to make a few mid-build adjustments, Contravans went above and beyond meeting our needs and fulfilling our vision for what we wanted the van to be. We also found their prices to be reasonable and honest. Other builders who have come across our van have all complimented on the design, workmanship and how solid of a system Contravans has put in place. Huge thanks to Kurt and the rest of the team at Contravans for an awesome van!

I give 5 stars to Contravans for the functional, beautiful conversion of my 2020 Ford Transit into a comfortable camper van. Kurt, Dillon, Jason and the whole Contravans team took my mess of a partially completed DIY project and turned it into a safe, structurally-sound camper. I love its many striking features like the butcher block countertop, the large, very comfortable bed, and the customized items like air conditioning and the microwave they worked with me to include. The installation work was masterful, the design artistic, stylish and practical and the budget and time frame perfect for me. Thank you so much for creating my wonderful camper! Gratefully, Rosanne

I have only had positive experiences with Contravans. I had a Webasto heater installed and while they had my van they fixed a few other little things for me that really helped me out. I ended up having a fixable issue with my heater a couple months later, and they were awesome in helping me through the process of getting it fixed several states away and supporting me with the warranties. I am impressed with their responsiveness, communication, and going above and beyond for their customers. Highly recommend (also the webasto heater is incredible and I still highly recommend them).

The guys at Contravans were great!! During my DIY build of my van, I didn t want to tackle the gas tank tap for heater. I contacted them about installing a heater I had already purchased , and they did a great job. While installing the heater they noticed a few issues with my battery system. Explained how I can fix myself and also gave me a quote for them to fix. Great honest service.

*I waited until we had taken multiple trips before writing this review.*We LOVE our conversion van from ContraVans. It is everything AND MORE, truly. Our expectations were far exceeded.First, Kurt and his team are super knowledgeable and respond to emails/questions within hours, sometimes faster. Any time we ve thought we ve had an issue, Kurt has troubleshooted with us quickly and it s turned out to be something silly and simple (ie: user error).Their work is honestly top notch. We get sooo many compliments!Surprise bonuses: We love that our lights are on multiple different switches and have dimming options. That was a lovely touch. We also love that the side windows can open and have bug screens installed. The butcher block is gorgeous and they included the oil for it. We have plenty of storage. The finishes are high end and beautiful. The batteries and heater both have phone apps to check levels, useage, etc.The design process was easy and they gave us plenty of options and time for discussion over colors, finishes, etc. They put it all into a graphic so you can visualize the colors and spacing. It was really a seamless process.We also had them install an AC unit, and an extra battery to accommodate the power drain. It is PHENOMENAL. Works quickly to cool down the van and doesn t drain too badly when you keep it on 75 degrees and the low setting. We live in KY where temps reach up to mid 90s so it has been a life saver.We recommend them to everyone we meet. They are a wonderful, small business local company that you can feel good supporting.

Kurt and his team built out my 2019 Ford Transit Connect into an amazing mini camper. I couldn't be happier with the way it turned out. They have high quality craftsmanship, and were able to work within my budget. Kurt took the the ideas I had in my head, and combined them with the knowledge he had about what does and doesn't work in a small space like the FTC. The end result is exactly what I asked for, plus a bunch of great features he incorporated into the build. I can confidently recommend their work for anyone looking to do a conversion of a FTC/Nissan/Dodge.

Even if you're not looking for a full van conversion, I recommend Contravans as a resource for any camper van related projects. We wanted a bunk window installed and also needed new front struts. Kurt was great to work with on these two different projects. He was clear and helpful as we discussed what we needed and our budget, and was more helpful and knowledgable about our van suspension than other mechanics I've been to. Despite the challenge of having an already built out van, they did an excellent job of installing the bunk window! I'm sure their full van builds are amazing too.

Solid product, great team!We used Contravans to design and build our 2023 Ford Transit to live in for a year of travel (both abroad and throughout the USA). Kurt and the team were extremely responsive by email and phone throughout the whole process. They listened to our design ideas, walked us through their thoughts and best practices to help us make decisions that worked for both our budget and ideal usage.Total build time took about 4 months and we have now used the van since April 2023. Every system works great and they have gone to great lengths to answer our questions and help with any issues. They stand behind their product for good reason.Contravans is a small business we highly recommend. Fair price, great people. Thank you for the sweet van!

Kurt was really great to work with, very communicative, fast, and open to discussion of the plan. I decided on Contravans after visiting 3 different shops because he was already specializing in minivans and also working on a prototype that was close to fitting my needs for a simple, utilitarian but clean and solid buildout with lots of storage. His shop and manner were really professional. He helped me to get exactly what I wanted for my Sienna that will be used for long road trips that require a quick pullover and no set up, being a practical daily driver and the the ability to have a luxurious double bed when needed. Most importantly, my good buddy Zoolie has the ideal spot to lay down while being able to see out the window and can rest his chin on the back of the driver's seat. It's perfect. - Heather

My Metris cargo van conversion to a beautiful single bed off-grid camper exceeded my expectations in all respects. I highly recommend Contravans, LLC for all of your van conversion needs. I just picked up the second van I have had converted through Contravans. The first was a small van (NV200) converted in 2020 which held up really well and -in large part due to the professional Contravans build - resold at a very good price. My new van is bigger (Dodge Ram Promaster 136" high roof) and has the same quality as my first van. The staff at Contravans are very professional and by now have a lot of experience doing van conversions. They listen and factor in their experience and prior customer feedback in their designs. They are also very responsive to questions about your van - even two plus years after the build! This is rare and one of the reasons I went back to them a second time.

I had a great experience with the single bed conversion of my 2014 Ford Transit Connect. As a novice at van camping I had a lot of questions that were answered patiently and completely. Recommendations were given kindly and turned out to better than I imagined.The craftsmanship is exemplary. Work proceeded apace and was on time and on budget. I highly recommend this company!

The work they did on the inside of the van is top notch. However, customer service is poor. The solar configuration does not work. I had to return to Denver to get it looked at and they sent me away for a second time with it not working. The general manager was clearly annoyed with me being there, and has pushed me off to a distributor for the battery. I am stuck in a vortex of calling the manufacturer, the distributor, with no one helping me. I spent a lot of money for it to still not work, and they really truly don t care at all. I cannot in good conscience recommend them.

Contravans helped to create the van I have always dreamed of for me. The work they did is incredibly professional, and stunning! They are truly top notch. I appreciated how reliable they were with my timeline. The kept their word on budget and timeline. Kurt was very responsive, and willing to work with my partial build, which many companies aren't.
