My manual transmission Subaru was having issues shifting into gear and I had it towed to Buena Vista Automotive for them to look at. They did an excellent job diagnosing the problem as a broken clutch fork, and were able to replace the part and get me back on the road. They were really courteous with me on the phone when talking about the issue and possible solutions, and I decided to have the whole clutch replaced while they were working on it, even though they told me that it was only about 40% worn and I could keep using it as is. I felt like they treated me with honestly and respect and I will gladly let them fix my car up any time.Services: Transmission, Transmission replacement, Transmission repair

The staff at BV Auto are attentive, fair with their prices, and truly care about their customers. As a young woman with minimal knowledge about vehicles, they break everything down for me in easy to understand jargon. They also let me know ahead of time when I m due for an oil change or any other maintenance. I m so glad I found them!!!

While on vacation in Colorado, my car's brake pad warning light came on. My great experience with BV Automotive started on the phone with Pam, who secured me a short notice appointment for a brake check. It got even better when I was greeted promptly upon arrival by Duff, one of the owners. He listened attentively to my concerns, especially regarding my need to be able to safely drive 900 miles back to Texas. My car was on a rack being checked within minutes. And a short 15 minutes later, Duff let me know that my brakes were close to needing replacement but that I would be fine to make the drive home and have them done there. He gave me detailed information about their status and was patient and thorough while addressing my follow-up questions. It's nice to know I have a "home away from home" I can count on when I am in the mountains and car issues arise. Honest, dependable, trustworthy, and customer focused = Exceptional. Duff and BV Auto were recommended by a local Jeep owner when he came across us pondering our Jeep problem. As hapless tourists, we took his advice and couldn't be more pleased. Duff got us back on the road quickly and even contacted us to see if his fix worked. He happily took another look when we returned to Buena Vista days later. Joyce at the desk was particularly friendly and helpful and we got quick competent service. Honest work, honest price.We love this town and come every 2 years on vacation from Virginia to enjoy kayaking, climbing, sight seeing. Now are now especially fond of its residents!

I had a previous auto shop looking at my car for two years nothing they did fixed the problems we were having. We were recommended hi family to see Duff when we moved up here and couldn t be happier. He is so fair, honest, takes the time to explain to you what s wrong and what he needs to do. Pam is amazing professional yet sweet and kind. We are so happy that we have found a good, reliable and honest business to do business with regarding our automobile. Always on time, great communication, send us a link with pictures of the car being worked on, a checklist and what was completed on the car and then a few days later a follow-up text to make sure everything s OK? We had a spark plug blow out the morning we were supposed to be driving home with our three little kids. We were SO impressed with Duff and his crew. He knew exactly what was wrong as soon as we cranked the engine on, let us know his wait time and gave us great advice on where to go to see if anyone else could get it done faster. The couldn't. He ended up getting us fixed up the same day and we were able to make it home as scheduled and paid less than we expected. So thankful for great service!

Awesome place, awesome honest people, my Land Rover started giving me a weird message my coolant was low on and off and I thought it was weird cuz I knew it was not... I also got worried cuz I was traveling and afraid it would break before I get home to Denver... Took my car there and the gentleman came to look at it right away, filled up my coolant which was almost full btw... And let me know it's probably just some over sensitive sensor... My problem went away and he not even charged me... Honest , good people it's hard to come by these days... Those guys are awesome !!!

We were driving up to Denver and are from Wisconsin so we were not use to mountain driving. The vehicle was shaking bad and we called this shop and the guy working there was the nicest guy. He gave us an opinion and told us our vehicle was fine it just might be a rotor issue. We appreciated his honesty and feedback based on what was happening and was able to check everything out quickly. Highly recommend this service for anyone experiencing problems with their vehicle near Bueno Vista.Service: Brakes

I echo all the good comments here. My car had a severe oil leak issue while I was passing through Buena Vista on a road trip, and we picked this shop just because it was close by (and we saw the good Google reviews). The owner let me come in to the shop right after I called, assessed my car quickly, fixed it quickly, and gave me further advice on the issue. All this for a really great price and with super nice & polite service.

I've gone to Duff for regular oil changes and last minute emergencies. I have always been treated fairly, and with whatever urgency was necessary. He is really thoughtful about cost, and how larger services may affect your budget. He also is really respectful in answering my mechanical questions, and explaining the purpose of any additional services that are (or are soon to be) needed.

We have gone to Gyff and Duff for years, and are always pleased with the service and work they do. Very professional, courteous, and dedicated. They will keep at a problem until they figure it out and make the repair.We also appreciate their commitment to the community. It goes a long way in a smaller town. These two fellows are the best mechanics we've ever had, and we've lived in a lot of places. They are terrific!

I own a small carpet cleaning business. Almost 3 weeks ago I made an appointment with Duff to have the oil changed and plugs replaced on my work van. The van was dropped off at 7:45 am. At 4 pm the van had not been pulled into the garage yet and at 530 pm I was informed it would not be ready that day. This was a simple job that should have been performed first thing in the morning as I booked my appointment so far out. I lost more $ in missed business than the service would have cost and got nothing accomplished for my lost time. The work Duff and his crew does is good, but timeliness and communication are problems.

Duff gave us a great price, great service, and turned our terrible day into a good one. The threads in one of the engine cylinders failed - blowing the spark plug out like a champagne cork. Duff diagnosed it before I even cranked the engine. Thanks for caring Duff!

I was in Buena Vista for our annual, week-long ATV ride, when I discovered that I had an issue with my brakes on my chevy suburban. Buena Vista Automotive worked me in and expedited the repair of my brakes such that I essentially lost no time from riding ATVs!!!!! I appreciated their quick response and professional attitude. They also followed-up a few days later asking if everything was okay and if I was happy with their work. Attention to client satisfaction is always a good business practice, and I appreciated that.

Fantastic service and work. My Honda CR-V was making wheel noise that I thought might be rear bearings. Duff got me in on their busy schedule. His guy saw that the brakes were the problem. Duff and Gyff are great! Honest and professional. I've used them for years. They will gladly tell you if a part on your vehicle doesn't need to be fixed immediately and will just tell you like it is. Great service and great staff!

Solid service, good prices. I've had quite a few places tell me they replaced my oil and/ or fuel filter when they clearly haven't, but these guys have always been honest. They also go the extra mile on the general inspection and ensure they're sending you away in good shape.

BV Automotive is always courteous and easy to work with on all my truck and SUV repairs. We were visiting Buena Vista from Colorado Springs and unexpectedly had our alternator and water pump fail. Our mechanic in the Springs had a client who recommended BV Auto. We were able to get our vehicle towed there, and were very impressed with their service. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. They were able to get 2 major repairs done very quickly. Travelling through and had an error code and some engine misfiring on my conversion van. They were professional and helpful on phone, worked to get me in promptly, diagnosed a couple of loose wires, tightened them up and got me back on the road! Great service. Honest mechanics. Really helped a guy out of a tough spot. Appreciate these guys.

As I was driving through Buena Vista, my car was making a screeching noise. I stopped by this shop hoping they could diagnose and figure out the noise. Duff immediately new what the noise was without getting my car up. Luckily it was just a rock that got lodged between my rotor and wheel, scraping and screeching as I drove. Duff immediately took car to back and cleaned out wheel. We were in and out in less than 10 minutes!!! Amazing service, upfront, and good quality customer service! Thanks Duff you saved the day!!!!

They did a great fast and reasonably priced repair on my Jeep. I appreciate their honesty and great communications. I was traveling through Colorado when I had car trouble. Being an older woman and traveling alone they may have charged more but their honesty showed. Thanks.

I was getting ready to embark on a cross country road trip when I noticed a strange hum in my Subaru. I took it to Duff and even though he was noticeably busy he took the time to diagnose the issue: bad wheel bearings. Then, in consideration of my trip, he scheduled my repair for first thing the next morning. It was less than 24 hours from when I noticed the problem to done with repair. And the car made it through the trip just fine. I highly recommend BV Automotive.Service: General repairs & maintenance

Great, honest service! I took my Suby to a dealer in Silverthorne to have the airbag recall issue fixed (finally!) and they told me I had a few this and that things that needed to be fixed at an estimated cost of $1,800 (!) Of course I said, no thanks, please just fix the warranty issue. I called Gyff and Duff and they said, bring it in, we will have a look. They did, and fixed a necessary item and explained to me how to keep an eye on the other things that were brought to my attention by the dealership. Total bill to fix the one concerning issue: $180, a savings of 90%. I am smart at many things but cars is not one of them and I am fine with that as long as I have a good, honest mechanic and these guys are that in gold stars. Highly recommended!

The starter engine on my Subaru Forester died while camping on Clear Creek Rd. Luckily with some help of others, we managed to get down to BV but were essentially stranded. Gyff at the shop ordered the part I needed and had my Subaru ready to go by the next morning. Great customer service and great price...again, we were basically stranded and some other places would have taken advantage and overcharged. If I lived in BV they would definitely be my go to car shop!

Duff was the kindest, friendliest mechanic I've encountered in years. We were passing through and had car trouble and he got us right in and fixed up in under an hour, and cheaply too. Give this place your $$$ !

We live in Denver and were on our way to a backpacking trip in Gunnison when I heard some grinding from my front brakes. I noticed we had lost a caliper pin and needed to make an emergency stop. We found these guys after a quick Google search and were we ever lucky.After describing our predicament, Duff immediately stopped what he was doing, pulled a car already on the rack off, and got my Pathfinder up there to fix the problem. Twenty minutes and one new caliper pin later, we were back on the road! What a huge relief. I told Duff it was unfortunate that we didn't live closer because they would be my mechanics for life.Amazing customer service, a world of knowledge, and simply great people. Thank you Duff!!
