Been coming here a few years now and couldn t be happier with my experience. John is great. He always shoots you straight and doesn t push unnecessary stuff on you. Just recently brought my car in and he found something wrong with my sway bar and struts and what not. It wasn t what I brought it in for but he found it and it was the only really expensive fix he s suggested since coming here. And I m telling you my car is driving better than it has in a long time. It s like I didn t realize how bad it was until he fixed it. Like a new car. Worth every penny. All this to say this place is honest and thorough. What more could you want

I wouldn t recommend this shop, even if they re kind and cheap. You need someone who knows the ins and outs of vehicles.I had a shop previously quote me over a grand for an alternator install. I m a college student and can t afford that. These guys did it for $650. It was my mistake finding someone cheaper.I brought my car in, and they had promised me a shop car so that I could have transportation. I get there bright and early, expecting to drive the shop car to class and they didn t have it.I walked home and assumed it was a one off thing - sometimes the job doesn t get done in time. That same day, they had my car ready with a new alternator. Seems nice.The next day, I m driving and all of the power in the car shuts off, and by some grace i m able to drive home with the engine still running.I take the car back the same day, a Friday, and Monday morning I get a call that they found nothing wrong with the car. So the car starts up and I take it home, but it REEKS OF CIGARETTES AND STILL DOES A WEEK LATER!By the way, they had the shop car that Friday, and it DIDNT HAVE A FUNCTIONING DRIVER SIDE SEATBELT. It goes without saying that I didn t take their car home.Fine, you ve forced me to go ahead and drive far as hell to someone that I know can fix the issue. I pay another $700 for an alternator install, bring the faulty one back to shop.This next mechanic found the issue and called me within 30 minutes.I took the alternator back to shop and asked for a refund purely on parts. What was their answer? We can t warranty it. I didn t know what this meant and asked them to explain again. Answer? We can t warranty it.Fine that was my fault for going somewhere not in network, and asking for a service and not a diagnosis, but Pete s Garage certainly wasn t going to get my car fixed when I needed it fixed. This a free market and I should be able to take my car to the person I like.At the end of the day, take your car to a trusted mechanic or the dealership; at least they have some integrity and will fix their mistakes and not offer you a car without a working seatbelt.

Ladies, women, anyone who wants to feel like they are seen & treated like a real human being, and can trust the assessment and work being done on their vehicle- look no further! Pretty awful experience. Took my car in due to a tail light issue. Both of the technicians I spoke to were definitely stoned, I really wish I was joking. I came to pick up my vehicle after my first appointment and there were no technicians in the shop. I had to wait 20 minutes for one to show up and he reeked of cannabis. The following appointment the guy at the desk forgot to return my keys and then proceeded to tell me that he already gave them to me, until I literally pointed them out on his desk. They ran a diagnostic on my truck and the technician couldn t remember if I needed to replace the right tail light or left tail light at the end of it. Had to bring my car in two separate times before they even took a look at it. Really poor customer service, as they couldn t even refer me to a manager or someone to speak with about the problem.Edit: literally went home after picking it up, fixed the problem in like 15 minutes, thank you guys for wasting my time and giving me the wrong diagnostic

I have always had great experiences at Pete's Garage. They are friendly and knowledgeable, and don't take advantage of people like me who don't know much about cars. They always fix only what I ask them to do and they only give recommendations on future repairs rather than pushing to get me to pay for non-urgent repairs. I always feel respected by the staff. The quality of their work is great and they have been helpful to me and able to squeeze me in multiple times when my car breaks down unexpectedly. I was lamenting to a friend that I had not found a mechanic, in Boulder, that I really trusted. My 2003 Toyota Matrix ( approx. 309,000 miles, whose name is Dorothy) is quite dear to me, and has had only two mechanics work on her before arriving in Boulder. My friend recommended Pete's Garage. He told me that Pete's had the type of reputation that Boulder itself use to have back in the day. A reputation wherein people could trust that they were being given exact information, that they were being charged appropriately (not gouged) and that, if the mechanic got under the hood and discovered what they thought was the problem wasn't, they would let you know and make the correction, even if it meant less money for them at the end of the day. I have found my friend's assesment to be true. I am so glad I took his advice. I have found great mechanics at Pete's Garage. I trust them. I rely on them to keep Dorothy in good working order. amazing shop! I am from out of state and have never had anything done to my car in Colorado. I was carefully searching for a mechanic because I don't like to let those chain places work on my cars. I have an old Honda with some obvious issues, and I don't like mechanics trying to sell me parts that I don't need because my car is old and they think I don't know better. I went to Pete's on the recommendation of a friend and I am SO thankful I took my car here! I needed an inspection and a brake job, and I'm on a tight budget because I don't work much due to COVID. They worked with me on price, didn't try to sell me anything extra, and treated me professionally and respectfully even though I'm a young girl on my own in an unfamiliar city. I really appreciated every aspect of this place - affordability, professionalism and respect, quick turnaround time (just a few hours for a whole brake job!), and my brakes are great too. They were also able to work with me for another repair I need without breaking the bank. I will definitely be coming back for my future maintenance needs!Service: Brakes

Pete s was able to see me when it seemed like all other places were booked out. My car wouldn t pass emissions they diagnosed and got the work done in one day, for a very fair price for diagnosis/parts/labor in addition to performing some general maintenance. Great people & car passed emissions.

For any of you women out, and men, dreading to take your car to an auto mechanic, do not go anywhere else but to see John, at Pete's Garage, In my 30 years in Boulder, I have used a few different Honda/Toyota auto mechanics and a couple years ago I was referred to John by a friend of mine who was leaving Boulder, also a mechanic who did some work on my car, and I asked him, who can I bring my car to now? Without any hesitation, do not fail to bring your car to Pete's Garage. John has supreme ethics and will never sell you on something that is not needed and his prices reasonable. I am so impressed and as long as I continue to live in Boulder, John at Pete's Garage is the ONLY place I will ever go again. These guys are chill. They quoted me $1020 for a repair, then they realized the actual part was cheaper and only charged me $748 when I picked up the car. No non sense from Pete s Garage. I have used them a few times over the years and they always seemed up front and honest. I appreciate a good car shop I can count on and trust to do me right.

John & Kim are the most honest and reliable mechanics I've ever met! 10/10 customer service always! They are the only mechanics you should trust in the front range. I've never felt so safe to get my car serviced & it's always in a timely manner. If you're looking for a car shop, look no further!!!!

WOW! What a great place! I highly recommend Pete's Garage. They have a great staff and wonderful mechanics that do such a good job!!! They are so helpful, honest and get your car fixed quickly! John, the best mechanic ever...went above and beyond to help me this past weekend and I cannot begin to say how grateful I am for his knowledge, help and expertise! I completely trust their opinions and feel so well taken care of whenever I bring my car in. Pete's Garage is THE PLACE to take your car!!! They have very reasonable prices and your car is diagnosed, fixed and returned faster than any other garage I've been to.Thanks to everyone at Pete's Garage! I needed an oil change and AC repair on short notice. I was in Boulder on a Wednesday and was moving away on Friday so it needed to be a quick turnaround. The dealership and another boulder shop couldn't fit me in until the following week which didn't fit my timeline. I went to Pete's in the late morning and they did everything I needed for a very reasonable price and had the car ready for me by the late afternoon. I would highly recommend them to anyone!

I have been going to Pete's Garage for a few years now and I have had nothing but really great experiences working with them on all 3 of our vehicles (Jeep Wrangler, Hyundai Elantra, and Subaru Crosstrek). The communication is outstanding as well as their work! I find them to be quite knowledgeable, trustworthy, and it's a bonus to have the work done at a fair and reasonable price too. They have made accommodations for me with a car to loan which personally I'm so grateful for! As someone whom has lived here for nearly 20 years; it's a good feeling to finally find "my mechanic"! Happy to call Pete's Garage my new mechanic. I love that I can drop my car off and bike to work for the day. They've been honest and up front before performing any work, and only replaced what was necessary and never try to swindle or upsell you.They didn't have a part to re-attach my muffler, and recommended going to a nearby specialist instead of charging me to replace the whole thing.When I had a cylinder misfire, they explained the possible causes, time, and cost for each of the possible 3 causes, and when it turned out to only be the fuel intake they fixed just that instead of replacing my spark plugs or ignition coil 'for good measure' like so many other shady mechanics. Oil change, a/c recharge, engine repairs, patching tires, they can do it all. Someone always picks-up the phone too - which is RARE for a garage!I trust their judgement absolutely, and John is the best there is. The people here provide INCREDIBLE service! After months of car troubles and frustration (mostly due to other mechanics and dealerships claiming they "could not replicate my car issue"), the kind people at Pete's Garage instantly found out what was plaguing my Jeep and fixed it. On top of that, they saved me well over a thousand dollars in repairs!!! Most dealerships and larger places will over-charge you for car parts and service, but Pete's Garage is BY FAR the most fairly-priced place I have been to!If you're still not convinced after reading this, I have one more note: these people go above and beyond and if you have anything wrong with you car, take it to them. They even washed my car because they are so amazing.

I'm always very wary of getting work done on my car, and I chose Pete's Garage because they were a smaller shop and local. I was not disappointed. Between John and Heather I had a great experience that didn't leave me feeling taken advantage of or jipped at all (which can be hard to come across sometimes). The work that they did felt honest and well done. I will certainly be back and I would definitely recommend them to anyone who needs work done.

Very honest about my cars needs. I was told by a dealership that I needed new brakes. And when I started hearing noises I took it in to Pete's garage. After doing an inspection, they told me my brakes were good and didn't need replacing. They explained the noise and sent me on my way. I was very impressed with their integrity.

OK some people laughed when I said I would do anything to get my 1990 Honda Civic wagon, 165K miles, running again. She has been my old friend, and so reliable. But the latest problem was a mystery to other mechanics...until I found John. He tested and found the distributor problem and I drove away very happy. I can say that it was great service, very fair price and John and his dog Max are sweethearts. It's like the best thing that's happened to me, being able to keep my dear old Blue...Thank you John!

I came into Pete s with an engine issue: Had my vehicle inspected and quoted for an engine replacement. Even though I decided to go elsewhere for the installation, I wasn t charged anything for the inspection/diagnosis - which I can appreciate.Thanks for your time and honesty John!

I have been really impressed with the quick service and reasonable prices I receive from John and his team. The folks at Pete's Garage are friendly and do not try to overcharge (which can be hard to come across at times). I highly recommend coming here for repairs.

Are you kidding me? These guys are absolutely the best and most highly skilled mechanics you will find anywhere,PERIOD! I have had my cars serviced by Pete for over 25 years and there is not a more honest and straightforward shop on the planet. I have sent many of my friends to Pete's and each and every one of them has been 100% happy. They are great guys that always take the time to fully explain every option and reason for doing what they do You'd be silly to go anywhere else. A rare Boulder gem.

My husband Larry and I have been taking our Subaru here for the past 3 years. We have always had excellent service. I always appreciate how honest, straightforward, and reasonable they are. They are quick with their service. Heather and John are great!
