I am 16, and this place was my first experience with mechanics. My car, an old Pathfinder, needed a big part replaced, and I decided to give these guys a call after looking through the reviews. They were always very professional and helpful as well, especially Dwight. They were honest throughout the whole process and gave me nothing to complain about.Dwight also gave me a good recommendation for a place to replace my windshield, as all of the other auto glass places I called wouldn't do it for me. Very helpful.

The old owner was great. The new owner and crew are not the same and do not give the same level of service or car to their customers. I scheduled an oil change and showed up on time. They acted a little panicked when I said I was going to wait. I told the guy that I could reschedule if they couldn't get it done , but he insisted he'd take care of me. No problem. An hour later, still don't even have my car in the garage and I find out they're waiting on parts and oil filters to finish the car they have up and my car. I asked for my keys and left. Rude and ridiculous to not be honest and straight forward about the situation. If they can't handle a simple oil change, I don't trust them with the rest of my car

Great experience here, and we will return for more service. I took my 1ton truck here for an alignment and they discovered dangerous broken front end components. There were random after market parts, so they kept it and got a new one in. They even kept the truck safe for me while I was out of town and were very reasonably priced. Given the complicated diagnostics required on a big diesel, I am very happy. They may have saved us from a dangerous situation as we were going to use it to drive a big trailer cross country. While we had to postpone moving with that trailer and rig, I think they kept us safe from a possible calamity.

Really wanted to like this place because it's so close to my work, but I've gone to them a few times now and have been a little disappointed with the service more often than not.Last week I got an oil change and tire rotation and they forgot to replace the oil cap after the oil change. So I drove home without an oil cap, not knowing any better, until I pulled into my driveway with a bunch of smoke coming out from under the hood of my car.Someone came out to my home to replace the cap, which was appreciated, but the point is...idk that I can trust a shop that makes such careless mistakes. What if they had not tightened the lugnuts on my tires after the rotation? I checked...and they did. I just hope no major contaminants got into my car engine.Services: Body & Trim, Tire rotations, Oil change

Jim and the Hontoycare team are great! It s important taking my car in for oil changes and car maintenance to trustworthy mechanics especially since I know so little about cars to begin with. I can handle a few emergencies as a driver over the years but it s more reassuring having had them look out for any potential issues. Knowing the car has been checked out by them has been reassuring! Every visit to Jim and his extremely capable crew has proven to be a stellar experience. Our family and business vehicles are maintained by them and they have shown us the value of proper maintenance and care. I even purchased a vehicle through HonToyCare Automotive and rest assured that my previously owned car will serve me well for several hundred thousand miles more! Recently we needed our A/C worked on prior to a trip to Wyoming of about 800 miles round trip and it proved to be a life saver in the heat and dust of the area. Here is our awesome vehicle covered with grime after the trip! Still running like a top!!! I'm deck for our regular oil change in a day or two. Thanks Jim and gang for all you do!

I'm probably not going to take my car back here. I took it for a loud, consistent clunking. They had put a transmission mount in and said that it was fixed, no issues. Great, $700 for a transmission mount, and they completely overlooked the missing fastener on my shift u-joint AND the missing neutral plate that holds my shift rod in place. Well, the day I was supposed to take it back in for warranty, the shift rod popped off completely, leaving me stranded. I took it in to diagnose the issue. They replaced the obvious component and wiped their hands with no further check to see if they had done their job right. The issue still persists (not the shifting linkage, but likely what caused the shifting linkage failure) and the best they had to offer was 1 hr free re-diagnosis. I'm thoroughly upset.

These guys went ABOVE AND BEYOND TO HELP ME. I had a tow truck lose my car when bringing it to them and the found it and rescued it. they advocated for me to my warranty company. and truly they are the Best and I'm so thankful. Needed the radiator replaced on my 20 year old Toyota truck. These guys were able to source the parts and make the repairs with a quick turnaround. They kept me updated with cost and timing of completing the job throughout the process! Great people and quality work!

This is possibly the best shop I've ever taken a car to! Amazing service in the office, and the mechanics did great, quick work on my car. I explained that I prefer to do most of the work on my car myself, and they were very respectful of that and didn't push any service on me. They just told me what I need to do and did what I couldn't. Fast and affordable. Honest and trustworthy mechanics are getting harder and harder to find. These guys are up front and straight and take care of business and beyond. Many thanks to the team at Hondtoycare in Boulder for all the hard work they put in. I bought my tiers for my truck and then went back and had them change my oil and double checked my brakes. This is where I ll be taking my vehicles to have them repaired.Service: Oil change

I just spoke with Jake, the Owner of HonToy. He is the nicest man and completely honest. I have an old van and he explained to me that I did not need a repair I thought I did! Everybody there, including Dwight, Strange, and Correy are so helpful and take the the time to explain things. They are all so honest and trustworthy !! Had the timing belt + water pump done. These guys had one of the most competitive prices, could get to the vehicle in a timely manner, and used OEM parts. They completed the service quickly, and found an issue that I already knew existed. Proof of a thorough job.I really appreciated the follow up call the next day to make sure all was well, as well as them offering a pickup ride to my vehicle on the day service was complete.Overall great shop, I wouldn t hesitate to recommend them to friends and family and I will use them again.Services: Tires, General repairs & maintenance

Very impressed with this auto repair shop, and relieved to finally find an honest, professional repair shop in Boulder. They provided details to back up their recommendations and upfront pricing, and have great customer service. Prices are fair, and they don't try to up-sell everything. Pleasure to work with. Maybe I should have investigated reviews since ownership changed, since it seems like there has been a drastic change. As far as I can tell, the repair on my car was done as expected, but that remains to be seen. However, when I went to pick up my car, I noticed that the tire pressure light was on and I found a brand new screw in one of my tires before departing the parking lot. I had dropped my car off 3 days prior without any issues, so the screw either came from their test drive after fixing my car, or most likely (considering it's a brand-new screw) from their own shop. I was told that the area outside of the shop is a public driving area and that the Roots Music Project located next door is likely to blame. At least they put air in my tire so I can now go and get a tire replaced. One would think that HonToy would be willing to work with a new customer when they most likely caused damage to my car, but that didn't happen.

I have been going to HonToyCare for years now and Jim and his crew have always done great work, on time and reasonably priced. For someone who doesn't know much about the mechanics of my car, they have always been honest with me about what is most pressing and what could be done later. It's great to know that you can trust your mechanic in these times where people are often trying to go for the mighty buck. Thank you Jim for putting service to your customers first.

I went to HonToy for a second opinion on coolant loss for my Element. Another shop told me it was most likely a blown head gasket, which would cost upward of $4000 to fix. HonToy was able to run a compression test and determined it was the radiator that was the problem, not the engine. Got out the door for only $1600. They were a pleasure to work with, communicating promptly and with tons of detail what they learned as they continued to diagnose the issue. Highly recommended. What an amazing team they have here, they made my day! Josh and Dwight were of tremendous help. Great rates. Great service, left my car there and got a ride home. Just great service overall. Sadly I didn t have cash to tip Lucian for the ride, it weighs on me but I ll be back!

My wife and I have been taking our two cars to Hontoy since we moved to Boulder in 2013. We have been consistently delighted by the quality of work and the very fair pricing. Jim, the owner, is trustworthy, friendly, and chatty, and has always treated us with respect. He delivers wonderful customer service, and has gone above and beyond the call of duty on multiple occasions. And hey, name another mechanic in Boulder who gives out free ice cream? Highly recommended!

These guys are GREAT!Dwight literally walked me through not only my regular maintenance, but also they took the reins when my transmission went out and I was still within my manufacturer warranty for its repair.Jake personally took all the mechanic language mumbo jumbo from the dealership warranty repair and explained it in a manor I could understand.I live an hour away from this shop, but will NEVER take my vehicles anywhere else.Services: Air & cabin filter replacement, Tires, Steering & suspension repair, General repairs & maintenance, Oil change

Jim and his team are awesome! Even though I moved away from Boulder, I keep coming back for car appointments. I know I can trust Jim, and that he always recommends what's best for my car. Plus they do a great job on my car. Makes me feel safer. And it's easy to book an appointment, even when I decide to come to town at the last minute!

I recently had our 150,000 mile service done with the gang at HonToyCare Automotive and what and awesome experience. They worked efficiently and thoroughly and found that my brakes were toast, so we opted to replace then as well. I found that metal on metal does not slow you down much! I have been driving my 1992 Honda Accord Wagon for a couple of years now and had all service done with Jim and gang at HonToyCare to keep it running forever. I am so tickled with the way the car runs now that the major service is done and am confident that we will get to 300K miles and still be running like a top! Thanks Jim and Eric for taking such great care of all our vehicles! You Rock!!!! Oh, and did I mention I bought our awesome 1992 Accord Wagon from Jim as well!!! Best investment ever!!

HonToyCare Automotive is awesome. The owner, Jim Waugh, is extremely honest and straight forward. He's the type of guy that would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it.I'm like most people- I don't know that much about cars and I don't want to get taken advantage of. You never have to worry about that at HonToyCare. Jim has a ton of experience. He is always able to find the problem quickly. And then he is very upfront about what is a priority, and what can wait. All the guys that work in his shop are friendly, experienced and honest. I can't recommend his garage enough.

Jim has taken care of our cars for years and it has always been a confident, stress free experience. Just getting my oil changed he reminds me of upcoming mileage services so I can prepare to fit those in my budget. Jim and the staff at HonToyCare are wonderful! I have gone to them for years for various cars and minor repairs. It s also important to know that the name implies Honda and Toyota but they work on all models, even my very old Dodge Grand Caravan. My geriatric vehicle needed a new engine, transmission, breaks and starter. They got it done quickly, professionally, and for a price far below what I would have paid at a dealership. Plus, what s not to love about a free pint of ice cream for every $100 transaction. The service alone takes the sting out of the cost of major work but the ice cream helps a lot too! Thank you so much, you guys are the best.
