Michael and Jen have done great work on my car, fast, and have given me friendly advice. Their prices are excellent and the work was done when they said it would be. I found my honest repair shop!

I have never received such exceptional service from a mechanic and company as I did with Gilpin Auto Works. The brakes overheated on our Sprinter motor home on a Saturday afternoon at 3:00 and Michael & Matthew came to the casino parking lot to diagnose the problem and had the parts ordered for the fix by 5:30 pm.After repairing the front pads and rotors, we realized that the rear pads also needed replacing. Instead of making us wait another day, Jen drove 2 hours to pick up parts at 2:30 in the afternoon. We were back on our way at 6:30 pm and Michael asked us to text him to let him know we got to our destination safely. A sign of someone who really cares. The price they charged was very reasonable but the service was above and beyond anything I could have expected. If I didn t live 1400 miles away, this shop would be doing all my mechanical work on my vehicles.Service: Brakes

These guys (and gals) are great! Had a flat tire on my sprinter van while traveling across the country. Michael said to bring it in right away and he had me back on the road in no time. It's unfortunate if you have to visit a repair shop but couldn't have asked for better service.

I have had nothing but great experiences doing business with Michael at Gilpin auto works. It s great to have a local shop up here that has the knowledge and the capabilities of keeping me on the road. I have tried every garage in the Gilpin/Nederland area and these guys surpass everybody hands down. Give them a try , I think you too will be impressed.

I took my car to Gilpin Auto Works under the uncertain recommendation of a neighbor, who felt the shop wasn't the most knowledgeable, but thought it might be worth the visit. My neighbor recommended that I try to get the owner, Jennifer, to do the work, because she felt the son, Michael, didn't really know what he was doing. I took my car in, but the owner decided to have her son do the work, which I wasn't happy about, but it was the closest garage and my car was struggling at 20 mph. I had transmission shift issues. It turned out that my speed sensor needed to be replaced. I also wanted the transmission fluid to be drained and replaced. Michael replaced the speed sensor, but neglected to change the transmission fluid. This was evident from the fact that Mercedes Benz has a specialized dip stick that I purchased from Amazon and brought to Michael. The package was never opened. The transmission fluid was never drained and replaced either. When I got the car back, it still had the same problems. The owner and her son kept giving me roundabout explanations that made no sense. They insisted it had the right amount of fluid, but couldn't explain how they knew, given the fact that they hadn't used the correct dip stick to know. A month later, the issues were still unresolved. The situation got worse when I had the car towed to a Longmont repair shop that discovered there were only 3 quarts of transmission fluid in a reservoir that should hold 13 (8 in the top compartment and 5 in the lower) and did not have leaks. As a result there was further transmission damage to the car. I brought the problem back to the owner, Jennifer, who told me she refused to do any further work on the car. She stated she was offended by an angry comment that my friend, who drove me to the garage, made about their abilities. I never lost my temper or responded inappropriately, but I let her know that I was unhappy with the outcome. The entire fiasco took place over a period of 3 months, during which time I was without a vehicle. I spent hundreds of dollars having the car towed between Longmont and Gilpin County trying to get to the bottom of the issue. When the owner refused to take any responsibility or provide a logical reason for the car's lack of transmission fluid (she insisted her son did the work properly and changed/filled the transmission), I left and took the car to a more knowledgeable garage. During that time, before things went south with my car, I had referred a friend who had purchased my old car. She recounted a similar experience with what she felt was shoddy workmanship, confusing explanations, and unresolved car issues. I don't think the owner or the sons have formal training. I would NOT recommend this garage to anyone for anything.Dr. J. Brown
