I m hesitant to review as they are a secret gem and I don t want them to get to busy so I can t get my car in for service. Mike and Jay are the best. They run a quality honest shop. They stand behind their repairs. They know Subaru s inside and out. Can not say enough good about them.

I got stuck with a 07 Outback that blew an engine right around 100k miles thanks to a family member never checking the oil while in his possession. So on recommendation of another mechanic I decided to have Sunmit put a new engine in it rather than scrap it with those kind of miles. They put a newer 2012 engine in it and that made a lot of sense as the newer engines do not have all the head gasket issues the mid-2000 s were plagued with. The job was done well and pretty quickly. Value was good considering. I did have some residual oil leaking but they worked with me and got that figured out and, these issues were likely not all related to the engine install itself. Overall good experience with this shop considering my situation with this car.

Horrible dealership! Please do not work with them or trust them. I dont know how they have such good reviews. I bought a used Toyota Tacoma from them that they said they had just serviced and done a bunch of work on and was in great condition. Well some of the work was never done and the work that was done was done incorrectly. They left a bolt in the flywheel that caused a ton of damage. I took it to someone else to have it looked at. The clutch disk had been installed backwards (the transmission shop was stunned they managed to do this) and the bolt in the flywheel ruined the entire clutch so I had them repair it for $1700 because there was no way I trusted taking it back to Summit Auto. It looks like I may have to have the transmission rebuilt as well. The Tacoma also had frame damage that was not mentioned to me when I bought it which is going to cost me $5500 to have repaired. The Tacoma also needed another $2850 of just basic repairs such as the steering rack, all new shocks and springs, new rear leaf springs because they only installed one new one and it wasnt even for this truck and it was installed incorrectly, new tie rod ends, new sway bar bushings. The rear brakes werent working at all when I bought it because they werent tightened at all. I am just so disappointed that they could sell a vehicle like this. I am considering filing a lawsuit because of all of the issues with the vehicle that I spent a lot of money on and they told me was ready to go as my new daily driver.

I had them do the head gaskets on my Subaru- almost immediately after my car was leaking oil. I took it back and they had done something incorrectly and fixed the issue. Now two years later the head gaskets are going out in my car due to the work previously done. Do not recommend.

I've received nothing but the best from Mike and Jay over a 3 year period. Hands down, the most knowledgeable, friendly, honest, forthright mechanics around.Availability? Hard to come by because they're the best. Make an appointment.Communication? Come in person & get them on the phone - they're always busy cause they're the best. Working on your Subaru and other people's Subarus takes time.Price? Doesn't break the bank.I'm going to miss you guys - thank you for everything that you've done for me and my Subaru!

These folks are AMAZING! I ve had my Subaru for 11 years and every time I leave this shop I am satisfied. They provide valuable insight and repair the car to better than new status. From head to toe I trust this shop more than any dealership by far, and any other repair shop for that matter. I am about 50 miles away but the drive home is always worth every inch! Thank you all at Summit Auto!

Not only are these guys helpful, but they're quick and efficient at assessing automotive issues and showed me a lot of kindness by checking out my truck when I had a bunch of parts jacked right out from under it. The staff were so kind, going out of their way to call around for available parts to help me, all for free. This shop definitely does reliable work and is dependable in a pinch, I'd absolutely recommend them. (Plus they have a really cool office)Service: Body & Trim

We love Mike and the crew. We have gone to them with our Subaru for years. He is professional, funny and great mechanic. Can't say anything but great stuff about the shop and him. Not high end fancy but gets the job done correctly at a great price.

There is a very good reason why this repair facility has almost exclusively 5-star reviews. Mike is an experienced repair technician, and he is especially knowledgeable about Subarus. He is also a good person with excellent business ethics. I have a 2011 Forester that had begun several weeks ago making a knocking sound. I first took it to Vista Subaru in Silverthorne, and they said the car had a bad rod bearing so it needed a new engine--their rough estimate was $5000-6000. Then a few days later they came back with an estimate of $10,000+. When I called Mike at Summit, he said he could replace the engine for $3,000 and would even add in new front and rear brakes (also needed) for $400. The work was completed this week for the stated price, and yesterday I drove the car off the lot, then 600 miles back to Texas, and it is like a new car. I had pretty much given up and was ready to send this car to the junkyard rather than pay $10,000 to the scoundrels at Vista Subaru. Mike went out of his way to help me. He is not only a top-notch Subaru mechanic but a top-notch person as well. He has earned every word of the positive reviews that you will see at this site.

This place is legit. I bought a used Subaru from them 6 months ago and am completely satisfied with the service and the car. I almost couldn't believe that I found an honest small Subaru dealership/repair shop that takes pride in their work, but that is Summit Auto. Their work is absolutely top notch quality.

These guys know Subarus inside and out. I've got a 19 year old WRX and they've been my exclusive mechanic for ten of those years. Competent guys who work on turbos cars are hard to find. They've always spotted problems early for me, but haven't been pushy about getting work done that you don't need yet. They have always given me the choice of less expensive remanufactured parts when available, which I like. This is a small shop. Their scheduling system is pretty informal. If you want a luxury dealership experience with a fancy lounge, big screen TV, free drinks and a guy who smells like Axe giving you updates on your car ... this is NOT the garage for you. Summit is BUSY because they have a good reputation. You might have to wait on a part, you might have to leave your car a day longer than you thought. But they are honest and work hard.

Did an amazing job with my head gasket repair on my subaru for a very reasonable price. Believe me I looked around. Jay and Mike(i think that is his name) were awesome and very helpful. It's been two months since the repair and no problems.

Just purchased a Subaru Outback from Summit Auto and we are very satisfied customers. Hands down, the most pleasant and easiest car buying transaction we could have hoped for. The family who runs the business is great! Very knowledgeable, honest, and friendly. Thanks Jay and Mike!

Took my 04 Subaru Impreza sti to them on a referral from my regular mechanic. Needed a valve job. Yes my timing belt broke. Anyway Mike and Jay are the guys I delt with. And after all said and done. So far couldn't be happier. Felt like they were very honest and straight forward. Kinda hard to find any more. I'll update later but seems like workman ship is solid as well. Definitely would recommend them.

These guys are great. Took a Forester from a local big name dealership there to have it inspected before a purchase. They found some issues with he vehicle that made me not comfortable buying the car. Returned to the dealer and they didn't believe me on the issues that were found when I took the vehicle in. If it wasn't for these guys I would've probably drove off the lot in a lemon Forester XT without any kind of return policy. These guys saved me a lot of money.

I love my subaru and I only trust these guys to work on it. They have been honest and straightforward. They have told me when I don't need a service that I thought I might. They work hard to find me the best bargain. For example, my turbo needed to be replaced. They gave me the options for a used one and a new one. Gave me the pros and cons of both as well. They didn't "push" the new one on me. And they answered all of my questions thoroughly.

This is the only Subaru repair shop I will ever use or ever refer anyone to! Mike, the owner, not only has amazing customer service skills but also knows as much about Subarus as any one of his amazing mechanics that he employs. They perform top notch work at extremely affordable rates. Not that I am looking forward to the next bout of car trouble but I am looking forward to doing business with them again!

My turbo died soon after moving to Colorado. Who knew that the more fancy engine/turbo you get on your Subaru, the more you need to baby it. Anyway by word of mouth found Summit Auto, who replaced turbo, gave me a loaner while the car was in the shop, and the price was the best among every place I checked. Since then they were taking care of my cars exclusively. What really sets them aside is that unlike your average independent mechanic or dealer, who just needs you to get into the shop to start finding problems real and imaginary, these guys fix what you ask them, and whats absolutely necessary for your safety. If I want something done, I have to tell them, do the oil/coolant/transmission/brakes or some such, otherwise they would only fix the problem, to keep my expenses minimal I presume. Anyway, understanding that made my experience with Summit Auto complete success. Over the years they did my shifter, engine rebuild, turbo, ac, solved the mystery of corroded transmission computer harness, regular maintenance, wheel rotations and alignment. To summarize, no fancy coffee machine in the waiting area, no surprises on the bill, job well done every time. Owner is a hardcore backcountry skier, which is a plus for me.

Excellent Subaru mechanic owners and staff. Very nice, extremely helpful, and incredibly informative. If you have a Subaru, I couldn't recommend them more! Best I have encountered in the US!!!

AWESOME!! We were passing through Denver for the high country when our check engine light came in and the truck started to stall. I made a stab based on past reviews of Summit and was not disappointed. Mike gave us first class service on a short notice drop in. He kept us appraised of their troubleshooting at each step of the way. We were in and out in 60 minutes with a detailed diagnosis, replaced the required parts, and confidence that we solved the issue. He had plenty of chance to take advantage of us, but we got splendid personalized service at fair rates. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Mike lied to me multiple times on my first maintenence at his shop. He had my car for a week and I told him all I wanted was communication about my car due to not getting any communication at another place. I had to call him the first 2 days due to no call. The rest of the week he called me and ended up not charging me the 70 dollars for the part or labor. If you want a mechanic that doesn't lie to you save yourself the time and find another shop. He doesn't have enough people from what I observed.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Engine repair

Love this shop these guys always help me take care of my subaru. They love subarus as much as I do! Animal and nature lovers as well! The only thing I don't like about this place is they'll keep your car for days on end and not update you on the repair process. Would be nice if they called and said hey this is what we did this is what still needs to be done this is when you can expect your car back.....

Very disappointed to have to go back and change my review from 5 stars to 1 star. I cannot warn you enough to stay away from this place. Don't be fooled- when we were buying the car OF COURSE they are going to be friendly and nice. However, it has been a nightmare ever since. Where do I begin...For starters, we bought the car on a warranty. Started having problems with the car (lights coming on, etc) and brought it in to be fixed. The first time, my girlfriend brought in the car and Jay rudely sent her away, blaming the issue on the fact that we put "bad gas" in the car (his exact words). We needed the issue fixed (lights on meant cruise control didn't work). So brought it back in and insisted they help us- they did some work on the car ($400 of work- even though it should have been covered by the warranty) but after we left, the issue persisted. We were tired of driving 2 hours to have them waste our time and money so we brought the car in to a different mechanic, and they solved the issue easily and showed us how Summit Auto had just done random work on the car to appease us, because they didn't actually know what the problem was.Over the next few months, we had to spend thousands more dollars on repairs to the car, including replacing parts that should have been done before we purchased (they told us it was done, we don't know anything about cars... took his word for it because he was such a "nice guy").I wish we had got our own Carfax at the time of buying the car (Jay is a REALLY skilled salesman and somehow convinced us to take his word). He told us the car had been in a "minor accident, airbags did not deploy". But today we pulled the Carfax discovered that actually, the car had been TOTALED, and we had bought a salvaged vehicle.Shame on us for being so trusting. We were fooled. Screwed. Big time.Learn from our mistake- DO NOT TRUST THEM. Stay away!

I've taken my Impreza here 3 times; to fix the starter, replace the clutch, and swap out the timing belt, and each time they quoted me significantly cheaper than anywhere else I can find. Not only that but they are really fast and have great service. I've never had a problem with any repairs they've done. They also have some pretty cool photos in the waiting room to look at.
