Flew into Aspen airport where I had reserved a car months on advance and prepaying for the car. After several flight delays, we walked into the Aspen terminal at 8:34. The Budget window was closed and dark. They closed at 8:30. Could they not wait 4 minutes for us? All of the other car rentals were open and waiting for their customers; Hertz, Sixt, etc. We had to get a ride back to the airport in the morning. There was no compensation for us. The rude woman the next morning told me I should never prepay for my car? Horrible customer service. Will not rent from Budget again.

Very bad customer service! Budget has a policy you can exchange your car if you are having trouble. Customer service asked us to go to the Aspen location. But the guy at the counter simply refused and was rude while giving us condescending looks. Also, he simply refused to acknowledge there is an issue in the car and asked us to go back to Denver to complete the exchange. He left while we were in the middle of explaining the trouble we were having. Zero Empathy! I feel bad for Budget that they have such employees working for them

I rarely take the time to leave reviews but whoever was working at the budget desk on New Years Day at Aspen airport deserves a shout out! She was fantastic when we picked up our car on 12/26 and was also the most pleasant person to work with when multiple flights got cancelled on 1/1. Thanks! Your helpfulness and patience does not go unnoticed during a stressful day of travel!

Booked through BA for a great price. Aspen to Denver (instead of United flight, which was cancelled due to bad weather) with drop off fees for a standard SUV under $100. Great pick up, car, drop off experience, even down to the helpful shuttle driver. 10/10

When we picked our car up at the Aspen airport location the agent wasn't friendly at all. I don't think she ever even looked at us and didn't say a word more than she absolutely had to and didn't act pleasant. Basically just asked for the renter's name, license, etc.had us sign the paperwork and handed us the keys and told us what spot to find it in. Then when we dropped the car off the agent told us to drop the keys in the box but when the receipt came through by email it had a fuel charge added even though we returned it full (Fortunately my husband had taken a picture of the dash when we parked it showing the full fuel gauge in case we had to prove anything). I had to call customer service to get the fuel charge removed. I wonder how much extra money you make from people who don't notice the extra fuel charge.

I rented and paid for a car from budget for 4 days. The first day I got pulled over by a state trooper who tried to give me a ticket for the tires being balled and illegal to drive with. I returned the unsafe rental car after 1 day with no help in replacing the vehicle for a safer one- I also paid for a 4 day rental with returning only after 1 day. Nobody has responded back to my reaching out about getting refunded for the last 3 days.

Melissa Sutton is possibly the worst employee I have ever met. My father and I had to return a car that had illegal tires on it, completely bald. She almost took away our keys and told us to go rent from Hertz.

I made a reservation that should have cost me less than $200 (including insurance from Budget), and returned the car one our past the deadline, which resulted in a charge of more than $480. Absolutely outraged by these charges!!!

Renting from Budget at Aspen Pitkin airport was such a pleasure. Staff is so nice there, the car was perfect and you can fill up right across the street. The car is in a lot right across from baggage claim.Couldn t be easier!

I had my reservation from 2 weeks ago and when I got to the airport NO ONE WAS THERE!! whereas the rest of brands were all open. We were three customers there and everyone was stunned. Some of the people at the airport told us with a grin that it was "pretty normal".The Uber cost me $120 back and forth from Aspen, to retrieve my card the next day. Do you think I got an apology? I DID NOT! What I got was a two-hour wait to modify the reservation.Bye Bye Avis/Budget group.

when we went to pick up our vehicle, we noticed the rear tires were bald in the center. I took a photo and showed the person who worked with Budget. Given that we were driving in snowy conditions, this was a deal breaker. We requested another vehicle with decent tires. We were told the tires pass the penny test. These did not. We were finally given another vehicle with good tires, but only after first being told we would have to wait two hours. Not good. Dangerous.

The Budget office at the Aspen Airport (ASE) has 2021 SPECIAL HOURS October 1 - December 15 09:00AM - 05:00PM. Orbitz (where I made the reservation) lists the hours from 8AM to 8:30PM as does Google...I did not know about these 'special hours' until the rental office called me at 5pm and told me that I needed to pick-up the car within the next 5 minutes or I would have to get it the next day... I had a cab scheduled from downtown Aspen to the airport at 5:15pm and it's a 10min drive. They refused to wait... effectively stranding me in Aspen without a means of travel and without a hotel room booked for the night. They should have called me well before closing if they were just going to abandon me as they did. It was very rude and the WRONG way to do business!!!Luckily their next door neighbors at Hertz were still open and MUCH more helpful!

Called on Friday around 3:00pm to see that we can check out our vehicle earlier on the next morning (Sat 8:30am) and the clerk said that's perfectly fine. All to find out that no one is here and won't be till near 10am. The website says that they open at 0600 everyday and we can't get a hold of anyone. So now we are just stuck in here until 10am with nowhere to go and all of our luggage.

Attempted to charge me double the contracted rate. Our flight was diverted to Grand Junction so we couldn t make it to Aspen Budget rental until after they closed. I called Budget customer service. Super helpful in changing the pick up to the next morning. I got to airport rental counter the next morning where the owner Melissa Sutton was rushing customers through, pretty effectively actually, due to the crowd. She listened to my ordeal which lead to the next day pick up agreeing that the rate was in there. I return the car just now and she attempts to charge me double the original rate, saying that Budget customer service can t extend a car rental. Only the local desk can do that. I d called the local desk endlessly when flight was being diverted and no one answered. She laughed when I said that, we stopped answering the phones because of how busy they were. Anyway, not only did they try to overcharge me but she was seriously short and rude about it. I called my cc company and am on with Budget as I type to get this resolved. In short, i d make them absolute last stop if you need to rent a car at Aspen airport. Bizarrely terrible customer service.

The team at Aspen Airport is always for courteous even when it's super busy. I fly in & out of Aspen often and love that Melissa at the counter, remembers little tidbits about our conversations. Especially after helping so many people each week. Over the years, the staff is always friendly, accomadating and helpful.

I definitely see why they would have such a low overall rating! Customer service is non existent! You would think at a very small, low key airport like Aspen, that they would be a little more friendly and accommodating.

The actual services were just fine, including the condition of the car and the Denver location, but the woman receptionist in Aspen, I think her name was Marissa, was extremely rude and condescending. I rented a car from DIA to ASE and dropped the car off in Aspen around 8pm the same day. I was meeting someone there who was going to drive me home and he told me the rental car counters were all closed, so I just parked the car in the rental car drop-off parking lot. When I called the next day to confirm they received the car, the receptionist rudely told me they were open until 11:30pm and was appalled, and actually angry with me that I had just left the keys in the car overnight. Clearly I was misinformed, but there was no need to have such a nasty attitude with me over such a petty mistake. Maybe consider a job outside of customer service with such an ill-mannered personality.

The Budget employees at Aspen airport are the best. As an old local (moved there in 1970 and been flying into Aspen for 52 years) who now lives in Chicago I often rent from Budget when I fly in to Aspen even though my brother and friends all still live there - I value my independence.

Worst experience ever. The person at the desk, a blond lady on her 50's/60's is very rude, zero patience, zero engaging with the clients. She was talking on the phone for more than an hour with her mom, because it was her birthday and it 8.58am, they open at 9am. a guy came ask some question an she get upset because she was talking with her family and there was people waiting for her, it was 2 minutes before 9am, when she finally answer the questions that the guys was asking, she was very rude, no friendly at all and arrogant. I don't know if she is the owner or pretend to be, but the worst service wver. My friend and I got there before 9, so we can probably rent the cart earlier, but she told him "Sir we open at 9am...and continue talking on the phone with her family... not the best element you can have in a spot where she has to be extremly friendly and polite with people....

Reserved an SUV the evening before, arrived the next day, no car. When I asked why they didn t have the car I reserved, her response was that I reserved it after 7pm the night before, implying that it was my fault that I made the reservation too late at night. When I asked why they accepted the reservation if they didn t have the car, her response was that they weren t supposed to be open that day. Went to the parking lot...nice Suburban sitting 4 spaces away. Went back to the counter, asked about the availability of that car. We don t have any Suburbans available . But there s one right out there in The parking lot , I say. I don t have a Suburban for you. If I did , I would ve told you sir. The sir was a nice touch but too little too late from my perspective. No apology for not having what we reserved, no explanation as to why I couldn t rent the car in the lot.It was as if I was living in a Seinfeld episode. You can take the reservation, you just can t hold the reservation

I returned my rental with the tank full but was charged $164.61 for fuel service. What a scam. I asked attendant for a receipt when I returned my car but he refused to provide one.This my 3rd consecutive issue with Budget / Avis rental. Avoid the hassle and rent elsewhere.

Due to unavoidable circumstances, I arrived to the airport long after the Budget desk closed. I had called Budget earlier and Cameron bent over backwards to make sure the car was ready for me and my family. He had me sign up for the Fast Break program prior to arrival which allowed me to avoid the need for paperwork. I will never forget how helpful this employee was to me under this unusual circumstance. Thank you ASE Budget!

One of the best things about this small airport in the haute-ski town of Aspen-Snowmass is the ease of getting your rental car and being able to walk 50 feet from the door to your car. The budget (and, really, all of the agencies') counters are convenient and courteous. The cars are in excellent condition and the tank full and ready to go. I wish it was like this at all airports!

The woman at the Aspen airport rental counter is rude and condescending. I Was born and raised in Aspen, and people like her are what give tourists a bad impression of this town. I Will never recommend Budget here to anyone, will not use it again myself, and will actively promote other rental agencies instead for local rentals. What a shame someone like her may be a visitors first experience when arriving.

Helpful and friendly staff. Melissa Sutton helped me pick out a good car for the low and even told me all the "hidden" features on it that most new cars have. No issues and was done and out quickly.

They charged me for equipment I didn't receive. Then they would not refund the difference. I prepaid in January and my rental came out 100,00 less and they would not refund it.

We got to our SUV, opend the truck and it was filthy! There were used tissus in the back, and crumbs everywhere. The outside was so dirty. We thought about going back inside, but we were already running very late. When I opened the driver side door, there was a huge amount of liquid that was spilled and dried up on the door and along the bottom of the vehicle. The center concole had the last renters packet inside with all of their information. It was clear the vehicle had not been cleaned. During a time like COVID, I would have expected all vehicles to be extra clean! Other companies are providing ways to show their vehciles are clean. There was nothing about this rental, that made it feel clean. I am not sure if I will rent from Budget again. That was very diappointing!

I have called the Aspen office multiple times to try and get a receipt. It has been multiple days now since I have dropped off the car and as far as I can tell the contract has not been closed out. The customer service rep has been flippant and unhelpful when I call. I am very frustrated by this experience.
