Avoid this disgusting man at all costs. He raised prices by his own discretion during a snow storm with no flights coming in or out. Hertz charged $135 for one day rental, and this guy wanted $600 bucks for 24 hour rental.

Avis ripped us off. Apparently we left the airport with 16.8 gallons in the tank. We filled it up by the airport but apparently the gas pump shut off at 16.1 gallons (we had no way of knowing we started at 16.8 gallons and ended at 16.1 gallons). Because we were .7 gallons short we got charged for a gallon of gas at $9.99 ... oh no, but wait ... the minimum refueling charge is $16.99 so that's what they added to our bill. I called them to complain and they said so sad, too bad. You should have put it back to 16.8 gallons. Great point, but there was no way to tell where we started and where we ended. There car doesn't offer that level of detail. Total ripoff. Really bad experience with Avis. I'm going to stick with Hertz from now on.

Avis in Aspen has the rudest non helpful employees. I have ever experienced in such horrific service in over 30 years of car rentals. Extremely unhelpful. I would never ever rent from Avis cars here again. Going to Hertz with all of our future business.

Avis gave us a car with bald tires to drive in Aspen! Luckily there wasn't much snow on the roads, but we had a flat tire. And Avis told us they would charge us to come and change the tire!! Not windshield wash in the car either! Very poor service!

Avis charged me for a one way drop off fee in spite of the fact that I booked the car specifically one way. They also charged me for a fuel surcharge fee. It was an electric vehicle. I m disputing the charges, except for the original rental agreement rate, but this needs to be remedied.

I rented an SUV, everything was very simple and fast. The SUV was in excellent condition, almost new. The price was very good.

Extremely rude staff, Maria is being racist and unhelpful. She claims that she owns the place and refuses to rent the car. Whole travel plan got disrupted. She kept yelling and THROW my card and ID. Seriously what kind of attitude is this? Provides no service and only shows how poor her manner is.

1000$ for 5 days no problem. Get stuck in a snow storm and need one more day an extra $500 plus for 1 day?! Ridiculous. Will be taking my business elsewhere

The good - Arrived in Aspen, there were multiple vehicles available and the rep at the desk was very quick at getting us into the car and on our way.The bad - the vehicle we were given smelled like cigarette smoke (noticed after it was parked in the sun for the day), but more concerning - downright scary - was that the car was all over the road and in need of a major wheel alignment. I didn't feel safe having my family and young children in the car.The good - once I was finally able to speak to someone at the Avis Aspen location, it was the same person who rented me the car. I explained the issues and she told me to come right in so that we can swap to a different, safer, vehicle. She said bring it back with a full tank. So I mentioned that I had prepaid the fuel, so she said yes but it would only apply to one of the vehicles. I pushed a little to insist that she should be able to take care of that for my inconvenience. She stood firm and then accused me of being combative with her and "coming at her". When I went in person, after fueling the vehicle, I re-voiced my concerns and why I thought she should have taken care of the fuel. She told me she wasn't going to continue to process the change of vehicle until I stopped talking. That was after she suggested she would just end my rental and not give me another vehicle if I continued to be difficult. I work in a service organization and have worked in so many in my life, and to me, the customer is always right. I always did whatever I could in my power to make them happy. Clearly that was not this individual's training or perspective. I WILL NOT rent from Avis Aspen again during our yearly trips there and I will be sure to let everyone know. It quickly became clear to me how that location earned their sub par 2.9 star Google review rating.

I have never been so disappointed in an Avis rental then what I experienced in Aspen. We had a rental set for our arrival into Aspen on Friday at 1600. We were suppose to arrive into Aspen at 1530. However, due to weather delays, we did not arrive until 2115 only to find out the rental counter was closed. Hertz was still open doing cars for those of us that arrived late. I inquired with Hertz and they said that Avis closes at 1900 and that Hertz had no cars available for us. We needed a car as our hotel was an hour away. I called the national number and the agent, Stephanie, made a call to the station manager and came back and said the same thing. She apologized but said no one could come in. So we were now stuck in Aspen with no car and no hotel. We were told we would have to come back the next day. This had to be the worst scenario as a last minute hotel in Aspen at 2200 at night is very difficult and expensive. So we were stuck with no car. The worst part of it was we never got a notice on the Avis app or an email saying this. In fact the app said we had a car with a license plate number but I could not find it in the parking lot but it wouldn't have matter as the cars were locked and there is no preferred here. I just can't believe I was not notified on the Avis app or by email. Obviously Hertz stays open to accommodate last minute delays. Then the next day I finally get my car but they didn't offer up any extras. In fact, I had to tell them to take the charge off for the day I didn't rent. I couldn't believe I even had to ask that buyt the agent went by the original reservations date. I also asked and did get an upgrade in car to something that was AWD. All I can say is that in all my years of renting Avis, I have never been abandoned at the airport with no car. I was told that this facility is not the best and the Yelp ratings show this. Next time I come into Aspen for a wedding, I am renting from Hertz.

Very impolite experience and treated disrespectfully and rude. Wanted to add driver but the guy at the counter say something wrong shows up in the system and could not rent the car. And start to accuse customer in the face there is something wrong with driver license (fraud)or maybe got ticket.Have been renting with other company s just a month ago and nothing wrong with my DL. Contact Avis customer service and been told nothing wrong on their online end, does not show any issue with driver license. Have to pay extra for insurance coz could not add driver. And it is very rude to make assumption, and say something wrong with ID and May got ticket to customer in the face. And refuse to rent coz lot of trouble even though the reservation has been made in advance online.Highly do not recommend if want pleasant and smooth vacation. This could really ruin the mood and time. Could be back and forth service coz they might not know what they do.

Never again. I recently rented at this location and would rather pay double at any other rental company than rent here again. My family of five, along with 4 (FOUR!) other groups, were left standing at a closed counter at 10pm, without a car rental when we arrived at the airport bc they "closed at 6:30". Every other counter was open. We all entered our accurate arrival time when booking the flight yet no car, help, or keys. The best part was that they left the list of people with reservations, arrival time and flight info out on the counter so we could all see our names confirming that we had a valid rental. We came back the next day to claim our car to zero acknowledgement, let alone apology ( or discount)...apparently they "close at 6:30"--begging the question why they took the reservation. I thought I was on candid camera.

The employee at the Avis counter at Aspen airport was SO rude!! His attitude was very poor and his customer service was the worst I ve ever experienced.

Do not prepay for your reservation! Their policy is not to refund any of your payment if returned early. If you pay at the counter it's supposedly a different case. I rented a car while my vehicle was in the shop not knowing when the repairs would be complete. So I rented a vehicle for a week ($350) to be able to get to and from work. My vehicle was repaired much faster than expected(24 hours after I rented), so I called to explore options to return the rental early. Only to be told I would still be charged the full amount only because I prepaid for my reservation. A very poor policy in my opinion and very poor customer service. I would understand a higher daily rate for a shorter rental, but no they just told me I should keep the vehicle even though I had no use for it.

1 Star is the lowest you can go, so.......Don t rent from Avis at Aspen Airport if you don t fit the correct description!Rented a 2020 Ford Escape for my trip to Aspen last week. My wife and I were in town for her sisters wedding and to enjoy the fall colors. The wedding was perfect and the leaves were almost at peak when we had to fly home.We filled up the gas tank in Aspen, very expensive, and turned it in just like any other rental car we have had in the past on our travels. The car was returned in the same condition as it was when we left with it originally.To say I was surprised with the charge they added to my credit card two days after I got home would be an understatement. Thinking it had to be a mix up, my wife called and asked for an explanation. Well she got one. She was told that our car smelled of pot and there was pot everywhere.My wife insisted that this could not be correct. They insisted and said that the almost $300 charge is non negotiable.I am appalled. We don t smoke marijuana, haven t in years and can t believe that that have the audacity to charge us for this.We rent a vehicle every time we fly in and we come often to see my wife s sister. I will never rent through Avis again. I will make sure no one in my family ever does either. I would warn you not to either. There is something shady going on and I bet they wouldn t have charged my wife and I if we weren t a multiracial couple. We don t fit the description of the Aspen community.S.Potter

They gave me a Tacoma pick-up because i had golf clubs, which was fine except that the truck was in bad need of a front wheel alignment, it kept pulling right. I did not complain about it, and got to my destination. So when I returned it the cost was $652 for 3-1/2 days, ridiculous! Close to $200 per day for something dangerous to drive!

SCAM ALERT!!! Do not rent here!! Got charged twice as much as quoted. Left with a receipt that said one thing and then they charged credit card double for their highest cleaning fee. There were a few chip crumbs and the car had light dirt on outside from Colorado s dusty roads. When I called to inquire about the charge the person I spoke to was extremely rude and said the car was nasty and actually made up excuses as to why they over charged. I ve rented cars in many other locations and this was the cleanest I ve ever returned a rental car.. I ve literally returned cars covered in sand and pet hair before with no issue. Did not know I needed to get my rental car detailed and washed on my vacation before returning it to the snobby car rental folks in Aspen. Will forever take pictures before I turn cars in now and I will NEVER rent from any Avis location again!!! After reading the other reviews I can see they have a history of taking advantage of their customers. Shame on Avis!!

Horrible Customer service! Coming from someone who also works in the industry, politeness will go along away. Way to inconvenience your guests. All we wanted was quick photo and to grab my friends back quickly out of the rental car, but then we were yelled at and the lady literally waited for me to leave after I told her I understood. Considering the airport was extremely slow and no one in and out of the parking lot, taking two minutes to unload my fiends rental car to mine would have been a kind gesture. I felt like the lady was taking her anger out on us. Not a pleasant experience, do some training on basic customer service.Great service at the Denver Airport Avis, kind and courteous.

Three different rentals for a total of over 85 days. Wrongfully billed 30%+ despite what I was quoted on first two, and had to involve district manager for refunds.Huge hassle with third, ended up paying nearly $200 extra because I followed their instructions, and taking it up with my credit card.Melissa was repeatedly rude, offensive, and had never been treated this way within the service industry. Offered me an upgrade at a fee, and whenever I had issues (electrical) with the car, she would always say I shouldn t be in that car in the first place.Was promised call backs to address issues by other manager/reps and no one called a single time. Garbage customer service except for Alex.If you re the operator of this franchise, and want to hear why we re staying clear of Avis (especially yours) in the future, feel free to reach out to me directly at any time and I can go into further detail of what a customer service dumpster fire looks like at your place of business.

Every time at this Avis we encounter the same lady who is incredibly rude and disrespectful. She makes random policies up depending on your social status. If you want a good vacation DO NOT go here

Greetings. The car was not only not sanitized, it was filthy. It had not been cleaned recently. The seats were covered in pet hair. The seats had stains all over them. The vehicle smelled like stale cigarette smoke. The vehicle had high miles and pulled hard to one side, needs an alignment, maybe tires. I have rented cars all over the world, including many developing countries. This was the worst experience I have ever had. So much dust and dirt in the cabin, it seemed like the previous renters of this vehicle lived in it with their dog for a coupe months. I will never rent with Avis ever again.

Incredibly rude employees and they have no idea what customer service means. There was something wrong with my car and rather than apologizing for inconveniencing me on my vacation they accused me of causing the problem when I had barely driven the car. Always a problem at this location but this experience has been the worst. Will always try to avoid Avis going forward.

Vehicle had dried chocolate (I hope) covering several seats. Dirt on almost all the inside surfaces. The outside was horrible but I can understand trying to keep the outside clean can be difficult. But the inside hadn t been touched by a so much as a bathroom hand towel, much less sanitized as they advertise. It was gross.This after the desk clerk was obnoxious and so unhelpful it took a call from his manager just for simple service. Unreal for such a small location.

I don t write reviews but I Rented in Aspen, CO. From showing up at the counter to driving away was less than 3 minutes? I returned the car and it was even faster. Why can t all rentals be like this experience! The guy at the counter was very nice and very quick. Maybe a lesson for others to learn from.

Last Friday (June 2016) we rented a F-150 four wheel drive truck and were very pleased to receive a vehicle in excellent condition that met all of our needs and was immediately parked outside. We had some issues with making the on-line reservation and ended up calling into the Aspen airport location directly, where a courteous staff member assisted us with making the reservation. Overall a very positive experience.

We made a reservation 2 weeks ago. When we made this they don t ask for a credit card. We received a confirmation that the car is rent. Today when we arrived at airport to pickup the car, no one was at the cashier. We waiting for someone, and then he came, he just said us: you cannot take the car, and confirmation about rent doesn t matter. And that s it. We will lose our plain from Vegas. Thank you Avis for this good experience!!!!!

Avis in Aspen has the worst customer service. The staff has no clue of company policies and is extremely rude with clients. Use any other company and you will surely get better treatment and more professional customer service

Customer service was fast and easy. However, when I turned in my vehicle, I was informed that I drove over 16k miles. The gentleman at the return desk said that was impossible and he would fix it. He did state that where I picked up the vehicle is where issues like this happens. It appears that the mileage wasn't updated when the previous user returned it. Who knows what else they messed up with and if it has happened to others.
