Highly recommend AI.I chose them based on excellent reviews and they are indeed an excellent family owned service business! My previous mechanic sold the shop I went to for 15 yrs for my 93 Toyota Land Cruiser that I ve owned for 22 yrs. This car has 282 K miles and I am very familiar with its repairs and cost of repairs as I ve basically rapaired everything on the vehicle except the transmission.AI repaired a valve cover gasket leak, oxygen sensor and transmission kick down cable and this car has not run this well in many years !!I was informed about exact pricing and all benefits of service in advance and jobs performed were suggested and no unnecessary service was pushed. Prices were fair and the quality of service and communication were top notch. I will certainly return and I wish they worked on non Japanese cars too - I would bring all our cars there!

I have been going to Automotive Instincts since 2016 and continue to be a client due to their integrity, transparency, and reliability (just to name a few). All of AI's patrons are long-standing clients who happily have shared their experience with me in the waiting room. Just recently I had to replace my battery on my hybrid and they initially did not have availability to see me the same day but Tom managed to squeeze me in later in the day to make it work which I am eternally grateful for. Even under high stress, both Tom and Jarrod are delightful to speak to due to their positive mindset and attitude. Their level of dedication and consistency is the reason why they continue to stand out amongst their competitors.

Tom (owner) was helpful and very knowledgeable. Check in and out was quick and easy. Helped put my mind at ease by volunteering to take a quick drive to hear the issues I had with the vehicle. Service was great and delivered on promises. He kept me informed on diagnosis, ETA on labor, delivery of replacement parts, and pricing. Pricing is fair and was able to cross check online and with second opinion. He offered alternative options on a few items to save money but never attempted to upsell or put pressure. All in all I am happy with the service provided and would recommend. Also, need to mention this was a great referral from Nextdoor app by neighbors.

I chose this business because they are AAA certified, and they proved to be wonderful. The service was exemplary. They are smart, attentive, and capable. They refurbished my mother s 2006 Mazda Miata MX-5 and shepherded it through body work with another firm with whom they collaborate closely. It emerged like a new car. The work and costs were explained thoroughly in advance, and I feel very fortunate to have been referred to Automotive Instincts.

I had both valve cover gaskets that needed to be replaced, and Tom got me in and out the same day. In addition to the repairs, they power washed the undercarriage to prevent further rundown. Highly recommend these folks for any of your automotive needs. We'll done!

Newlywed and recently moved to Woodland Hills. I was referred by a friend from Church who's been going here for over 10 years. I called and reached Tom the owner, who was courteous enough to schedule me immediately. I was overwhelmingly impressed with the environment at the shop, the customer service, and more importantly, the exceptional service they provided. They quickly diagnosed the issue with my wife's car and delivered great service at a very fair price. If you live in the valley, look no further for your automotive services than Automotive Instincts. Thanks, Tom, Jerad, and the team!RandalServices: Transmission repair, Auto maintenance

They used a part designed for a Mazda Cosmo (60s Mazda) on my 2018 Mazda 3.. then argued with me when I called to ask why things weren't working correctly. Filed a complaint with the BAR after the dealership had to redo their work to fix things and won... full refund issued but a huge and very unpleasant experience..Edit: here is the release bearing (the dirty one) that was bought at O'Reilly's that is meant as an aftermarket replacement for a Mazda Cosmo. The clean one is the Mazda part from the dealership that belongs in my car. Warranty means nothing if you can't trust the person doing the work.Just learned they cross threaded the bolts on my steering column today.. been having issues for two years over their faulty work.Forgot to mention they filled the trans with the wrong gear oil. I had instructed them to use Mazda's MTL 75w80 GL4 gear oil and was told they would do that. They instead used Motul GL4/GL5 gear oil. My trans has brass synchros and only works with GL4.. thus my instructions before allowing them to work on the car.Edit 2: My front diver side strut failed less than 2 weeks after service and my wheel bearings failed less than a month after service. Driver side tie rods are now shot.. I called to talk to them about how they hadn't followed instructions before agreeing to let them do the work and got an earfull.. never going back.Service: Transmission

Tom and his son Jared have been taking care of my cars for the last 20 years and have always been honest and told me what needed to be done to my cars but never pushed me or hassled me to have them do the work, true gentlemanNick Dee

I was able to make an appointment the week prior as they only go by appointments. Bit pricy to what I'm used to paying but they did the oil change with no issue.

We are so thankful for another great service with Automotive Instincts in Woodland Hills. Our cars are very happy and live long lives, many thanks to Tom and Jared Langford and their team. We appreciate their thorough inspection, minor/major services, and thorough feedback after every visit. I love how they have started automating our follow-up visits. It helps a lot. We have to take four Los Angeles freeways just to get to them (210, 118, 405, 101). If that's not love, I'm not sure what is. :P. Seriously, we trust them with our cars and are so thankful for all that they do.Services: Transmission, Electrical repair, Air & cabin filter replacement, Tires, Auto battery replacement, Auto water leak repair, General repairs & maintenance, Auto A/C recharge, Electrical, Auto engine diagnostic, Auto engine tuning, Auto brake repair, Tire rotations, Vehicle Inspection, Auto detailing, Air conditioning, Auto maintenance, Auto brake replacement, Battery, Oil change

Oh, what a day! My partner and I were taking my mom and dad, 90 and 95 years old, to the Madonna Inn to celebrate my brother's birthday there. We had had a little trouble with our classic 1990 Toyota Camry overheating on the way over the Grapevine on I-5, but thought that it would be fine through the LA valley. But no, it overheated in the stop-and-slow traffic in 105 degree temperature, then died completely when we drove off the 101 freeway. The closest automotive place we could find on google maps was Automotive Instincts just 3 minutes away. AAA came and picked us up, and the guy was super gentle and considerate with my mom and dad. I had called ahead to Tom at Automotive Instinct, and from the moment we arrived, he was the most supportive and helpful. Yes, my mom and dad are pretty cute, but he went out of his way to care for them. The car was toast, and now we were stuck! Throughout the following hours, Tom supplied us with numerous phone numbers, a cool waiting room, and all the help he could possibly give. Expedia was NOT helpful, as we got Uber rides to two different places that supposedly had the rental cars that I had paid for, that didn't have any. Finally, with Tom's help, we got a car from Enterprise that had barely been returned. Another Uber ride to pick it up, while Tom helped my mom and dad unload the sad Camry. Tom said that he would have stayed after closing, but he had a previous commitment. My partner returned from one of the useless Expedia-trips to find my mom and dad sitting on the sidewalk in the shade with all our stuff. We loaded up the rental car, and were finally on our way again. My mom and dad never complained, were not even grumpy, and though I wanted to cry at times, with Tom's help, we all kept it together. We are hugely grateful for all his help, and believe it will come back to him 100-fold!

They used non Toyota parts on my Prius which caused further problems that had to be fixed by another more honest shop. These guys are crooks. And they had they charged me $25 to tighten battery cable without telling me. Avoid at all costs.

My car broke down in Topanga Canyon. I had the car towed to my normal mechanic and they said they couldn t repair it because it was a battery problem. On the internet, I asked if anyone was happy with their mechanic who works on Toyota Prius. Several people responded that Automotive Instincts (A.I.)is the place to go. I called A.I. and they told me to tow it to them and they could figure it out. I left it with them and within hours they called me back and said they have good news and bad news. The bad news is that gas is over $5 a gallon, the good news is that the fuel sensor was faulty and the car was only out of gas. I was so relieved that I did not need to replace the battery. I had A.I. do much needed misc. services on the Prius and it runs great now. They are super friendly and honest. I will never go anywhere else from now on.

We didn t have a mechanic for our classic 2000 Hyundai Elantra so I googled for one. Right away Automotive Instincts popped up. I decided to give it a try. I first went in to get a quote and they immediately greeted me with a good morning and may I help you. I told them what I needed and they gave me a quote. I went home, discussed with my wife, and called Automotive Instincts back to make an appointment. When I took the car in the next day, they greeted me, took my keys, and started to work. By mid day they called me to give me the diagnosis. By the afternoon, the job was done. They were nice, took care of my car, and were reasonably price. I had an awesome experience and would totally take my car back. Automotive Instincts just found a new customer.Services: Auto power window repair, Steering & suspension repair, Auto side window replacement

Tom was very accommodating to the need that my vehicle immediately required.AAA recommended this shop for the repairs, with assurances that AI would be able to help. The entire experience was smooth, thorough and reasonably priced. Great service! They were efficient, timely, and honest. Mid day, I casually wandered into the shop to confirm the quality of the work being done and the mechanic was on point. Proper torque specs, gasket sealing, and surface prep. I needed a major service interval completed and they went above and beyond. Though I wanted to give a review sooner, I decided to take my toyota on a 200 mile road trip to see if the workmanship held up. And it did!

As some one who works on cars, I'm not afraid to say I can't diagnose and fix everything. I took my car and they were able to figure out what needed to be done surprisingly quick and for what I know is a good price given parts and labor. I'm taking my car back later to have some extra stuff done and I'm thrilled with my experience. I absolutely recommend!Service: Steering & suspension repair

My 2002 Infiniti I-35, needed a bunch of maintenance, even though I have very low mileage. The dealer, where I've always serviced the car, wanted a lot of expensive service. The Automotive Instincts guys took care of the repairs and did it for less money. They were quick and provided me with more than the dealer had proposed. Happy to say, good job guys!!
