The rooms are basic with comfortable beds and nice hot water. They need fans in the bathrooms as it might have mold starting also please put some outlets near the beds for charging. Some basic updates and this place would be awesome. Hi Lo cafe is some good diner eating! Breakfast burrito.Rooms: Basic and need outlets!Safety: Safe feeling small town.Walkability: Close to a lot of Weed!Food & drinks: Good stuff.

Great place to stay when in Weed. Motel and Cafe are a throw back to the 1950's with great service, clean rooms and easy to get to location. Excellent value for the accommodations and dining. The complimentary Wooden Nickle gets you a decent cup of coffee with refills! Breakfast, lunch and dinner is good food at a fair price. When in Weed or vicinity...it is the Hi-Lo for us. Extra plus...pet friendly.

We stopped at the Cafe on Mothers Day! Just a bit busy. The staff was so wonderful to us. I got a red rose. I was offered a free salad bar. I had to decline, I knew my sandwich was going to be too good!! We had an amazing meal!! And we were treated like family.Nearby activities: We were on our way to check out local camping opportunities.Food & drinks: We had a fabulous meal at the Cafe!

Always stay here when going through on business. Older motel, but the rooms are clean. The staff is always helpful & friendly. Walk out of your room to the cafe next door, great food too, & you get a discount if you let them know you stayed there.I'd rather stay here than the Holiday Inn! The only reason location didn't get 5 stars, because the parking is a little tight.. Great place to stay

Clean room with good beds, cable and flat screen TV. It's not a new place but has been well taken care of. The restaurant is right next door and serves good family cooked meals that are filling. This has been a family run business for seventy-five years and they have done it right. Weed has seen better days and like many small towns jobs are hard to come by. It's still a nice stop on I-5 for some good food or a nights stay with friendly people.

Didn't stay at the Motel. Ate at the cafe. After giving them a rave review last time, not so much this time. The order was not correct, got about a tablespoon of soggy hash browns and the coffee was weak and almost not drinkable. The veggie omelet was delicious. Thus the 3 rating. My wife said the women's bathroom was trashed. Men's was clean.Too bad because 6 months ago it had returned to it's past glory. Now, again, we may not go back.

Centrally located, and one of the cleanest motels I have stayed in over the past year. The mattress was very comfortable, the linens were fresh, and there was plenty of hot water and good water pressure. There was a mini-fridge and microwave in the room, atable area, with one chair. Perfect for me as I was traveliang solo.No in-room coffee maker, but I was given tokens for free coffee in the cafe, which I thought was far better.Bonus: nice view of Mt. Shasta from the window and door! Great staff!

What you would expect on the high end of a low budget motel. The front desk person was friendly, the room was small but clean. AC was loud but effective. It was quite outside overnight. It felt safe. Affordable, and that's what we were looking for!Food & drinks: The hi-lo Cafe was convenient and good food. Good coffee!

Our room was basic and small. The air conditioning worked well ,but not much amenities. They only gave us one toilet paper that wasn t even full. Only a shower and no tub and I could hear the neighbors turn on their water. The restaurant was by the parking so it was close. The food was decent. I probably wouldn t stay here again for the price.

I was a little surprised when there was no fridge or microwave in the room... which has been rather inconvenient but it IS the cheapest room around so can't complain I suppose. Parking is kinda an issue. The cafe next door is great and the people working there are always hustling! The hotel gives you tokens you can use for complimentary beverages from the cafe. There's a woman in the office who has the most beautiful New Zealand accent I've ever heard!! Hotel staff is friendly and knowledgeable of the area. I would stay here again if I needed a budget friendly room!

I love this place. Such a cozy little spot to stay. With the diner right there it makes it a fun homely experience. The staff is always friendly and super accommodating, rooms are clean with comfy beds. AND you can bring your animals!!! Usually pet friendly places have a smell of dog pee in the rooms... This place is clean with no wierd smells or neighbors. Definitely recommend this cute little stay.

1/24 UpdateOnce again quite happy with my stay here. The mattress, linens, drapes and furniture much nicer then what you'd expect from a motel at their low price.Highly recommend.I,ve lived in Weed on and off for the last 20 years. And this is the first time staying at the Hi Lo Motel.Pleasantly surprised with the King size room I'm in. Everything in the room much higher quality than expected. Modern, new. Clean & everything works. The Diner in the parking lot is a real bonus, best slow cooked Prime Rib you'll find in the county.Highly recomend.

I've been traveling through Weed, Ca for 45 years, and the Hi-Lo Cafe and Motel are great American standards in counter service, booth dining, and quiet overnight stays. The owner was so very helpful, as this last visit was unplanned. My car broke down while passing through during the middle of the night on highway 97 just south of the Weed exit, and the owner of the motel was kind enough to get me into a room very early in the day as I had slept in my car the night before and had no place to go that week while it was getting worked on. This happened on 4th of July weekend OF COURSE! Both the motel and the caf showed their true colors by showing compassion and being so helpful until my rescue ride showed up. Hats off to all staff at both places -- YOU ALL ROCK!

Decided to take a chance and trust the reviews I read. So glad I did. The place was very clean and the service was above average. As a single woman traveling alone, staying in a strange place can be scary. I was not frightened to stay here alone at all. The cafe is very close and they had no problem adjusting to my dietary needs. Food and service were so good that I plan on stopping again on my return trip. This place will be my new waypoint when traveling this way. Simple, clean, polite, and helpful.... rooms, staff and restaurant.

We stayed here for 2 nights and had a great time! Jason at the front desk was amazing! He deserves a raise or an award for his spectacular service. The lady in front of us was being difficult and he was so patient with her. Great location and everything you need!

This is great for traveling families or solo business runs. Not exactly convenient for larger trailers, despite having RV/trailer parking on site. Can definitely accommodate up to 30ft RV/trailer without complications. Having the cafe attached just sweetened the pot. Speaking of pot, theirs is just way too close to the wall that I had to sit sideways. Plenty of space to move it away from the wall, just so much space...

When we walked in, we could tell immediately that they care about cleanliness, as the bathroom was sparkling and the beds neat. This was a quick one-night stay as we were on a road trip, so not having a fridge or microwave wasn t a problem. They have dispensers for the soap and shampoo, which I like. The only thing I would change is having more towels and pillows, but it was already midnight when I pulled in, so it wasn t the end of the world, and I would ve asked the front desk if it was a multi-day trip. We had the 2 queen room, and it had a shower but no tub, so just be aware of that (or ask when you book) if you have littles. Overall, a nice local place to stay.

The staff was very nice. I loved the room. It was definitely old-school, but I believe it added to the charm and was very comfortable. I would stay there againNearby activities: There is a diner next door, so it is a very convenient meal option

Nice place to stay for a night with friendly people. There was no notice from the highway. Plenty of parking. Rooms and bathrooms were clean. Bed was ok. My wife felt like she would slide off. Lots of RV s in the place. The cafe next door had a huge menu. And they gave us tokens for coffee and soft drinks. Very reasonably priced.

I won't be eating there again. The place was pretty much empty. The waitress took my to go order and then disappeared. Never saw her again. I finally got up to leave when another waitress asked if I wanted more coffee. I replied No I would like my food. It's been 40 minutes now. She disappeared to the kitchen with my order in hand. So sorry she says handing me my now cold soggy order. $35.00 for cold bacon burger/fries and 3 cold chicken strips/fries. Oh and about 6-7 cups coffee while waiting for my food to cool off apparently. Pretty shabby in my opinion. I'll go to freaked burger king next time..

I can honestly say this was a surprise find. We had no reservations in town but had to stop due to the weather. I was expecting another grimey motel but this place was amazingly clean, the people were very nice and the food at the Cafe was excellent. I travel a lot and I'm picky about where sleep and we always stop in this town and this was the nicest place I've stayed in the 20 years stopping here. Be sure to have the BLT or the Chicken Avocado club, and the lady who works there is so sweet. I wish I remembered her name.
