We bought a "new" 2012 car and got it smog-tested here. We didn't realize the sellers were supposed to do that... I learned a lot about my "new" car and about car buying!The smog test was speedy and professional.We will absolutely be back for smog tests AND for any car problems we may have in the future.

Our 1978 Volvo 242 GT needed to get emissions checked and Andre was super helpful. The old smog equipment is hard to come by and Andre+ CCS&R has working equipment. He's also super helpful in diagnosing key isues which comes w 30+ yrs of experience. He's seen it all.great mechanic and great shop!get here asap especially if you have an older vehicle/classic.

I highly recommend this shop for smog work. He took my old 1997 truck in to smog on short notice, and was able to have it pass at the price he quoted me. I will use this shop again for any smog needs in the future.

Don t go here. The man that works here is cranky and unhelpful. Never lived in CA and he treated me like an idiot when I asked about a smog check for my car.

I ve been coming to this place for a couple years now. Quick and simple for a smog certification. I have a pick up truck and it s probably the best price around for a full size truck. I would advise if you re going there in the morning to call first to make sure that he s in the shop. He doesn t always keep scheduled hours.

Very unprofessional. The owner made me wait 5 minutes while he showed his friend pictures of the girls he is dating on his phone. When he finally got around to helping me, I presented the coupon from their website on my phone, the owner said it needed to be printed or he wouldn't honor it. I left, he does not value my business.

Happy Repeat Customer Been bringing my vehicles to Contra Costa Smog for almost 11 years now. Andre is honest, fair, responsible and knowledgeable. Service/repair work was completed on time and at the price quoted. A shoutout to Daniel (shop technician) for doing a wonderful job on my Mercedes.

This company is very honest and very strong technical skills. They have experiences to check issues and fix them based on my description that came from Lexus dealer. They saved me more than $800 in previous estimate amount. The best.Been taking my cars there for over a decade. From old clunkers to my midlife crisis car they never disappoint.Found them after been screwed over by dealership after dealership Toyota Jeep and Subaru. Never again (to be fair the Acura dealership is okay here but then they likely charge more).Don't expect fancy coffee station and nonsense. This is a place for dropping your car and getting it back perfect no bull.

Master mechanic. I went to him after giving up on the dealers (my old neighbor recommend him - has been taking his antique car to him fir years). His reception room sucks. No coffee. Not even water cups. But he will fix your car property, for a reasonable price, and it will stay fixed.Update: water cups situation fixed :)My custom full moon roof for busted, dealer wanted an arm an a leg. They custom fabricated one for me for a fraction of the price and it works great. Seriously this place is a gem you must check with them before dropping a fortune at a dealership.PSNot a surprise considering they remanufacture classic cars - so rebuilibg a sliding roof is probably not a big deal for them :)

Both being ASE Advanced Specialist licensed and certified, you can be sure they will know how to fix your car under any circumstances, and not shortchange you if something is wrong or needs fixing. They go above and beyond the normal call of duty to inspect, maintain, and service your car with a high level of respect and integrity for the work they are performing. And the best part about them: where other places will try and overcharge or fix, Andre and his team will tell you when something needs fixing or NOT! Been going to Contra Costa Smog since 2010 and have have only great things to say about the quality of service. Latest visit resulted in Brat researching an extended warranty number from the car manufacturer so the problem would be fixed for free. I spent nothing where I was expecting to spend hundreds for a cylinder issue. Prior to 2010 I had to shop around to filter out BS. These days, if YouTube cannot help with simple items, I take both of my cars to Contra Costa Smog for an honest quote and thorough job.

Cost quote over phone was misleading; make your choice with this information I was not privy to: website offers $20 coupon with no caveats; price quoted over phone was $69. However, price posted on premises for automobile is about $88.75 plus about $8.95 for certificate. They offered choice of $69 including the certificate or $20 less than posted price for smog check and certificate, which would be about $78. Therefore I paid $20 more than expected. Aside from that, I had to wait more than 5 minutes for my presence to be acknowledged. The smog check was done quickly and appears to be satisfactory.

Couldn't ask for more from an indie mechanic. Brought my VW down for smog and the customer service I received was second to none. Brought the car back to CCS after having an engine light and some other general maintenance and experienced the same excellent customer service. For my VW they use Motul oil which is top of the line, very happy with that. When looking for a local mechanic I feel that honesty is key and Contra Costa Smog provides that 100% of the time.

As posted on Yelp, here is my story:I took my Chevy G20 Van to get a smog check at Contra Costa Smog on April 6th, 2010. I was forced to take it to a test-only or Gold Shield station, so I could not use my usual, trusted shop. I brought my van in at approximately 11:30am, and was quoted a price of $79.00 and told it would be done in an hour. At approximately 12:30pm, I received a call saying there would be an extra labor charge of $50 for removing the engine cover of the van, making the total cost for this smog check an exorbitant $129. I regretfully accepted this charge, thinking it would be common practice at any shop for this additional cost (which I later found was not the case). I was then told it would be anotherhour until the van was ready. At 2pm, an hour an a half later, I came over to the shop and it was nowhere near being finished. I was ignored by the owner and was not given any further information about when it would be done. At at little after 3pm I returned to the shop and waited another 10 or 15 minutes to find out the results of the test - it failed. They claimed it failed on the emissions section, and that a smoke test would need to be done to find the gas leak. I was not about to give this shop any more of my money for the repairs, so I took my van to my usual shop. This shop performed the smoke test, found no leak and also tested the evap system with the evap tester - it passedthe test, and cost me $85 to find out nothing was wrong. If there's nothing wrong, they can't repair it! The mechanic at this shop suggested that I take my van to another test only shop, get the certificate and return to Contra Costa Smog and demand my money back.Since my whole day on April 6th was wasted by that point, today, April 7th I took my van to another test only shop. It passed in about 45 minutes and at a total cost of $60 - needless to say there was no additional charge for removing the cover. I then returned to Contra Costa Smog to demand my money back, since by this point it had passed at 2 other shops. Also, in addition to the $126 I paid them, I had spent another $85 at my usual shop for them to tell me nothing was wrong, and $60 to actually get my smog certificate.The owner of Contra Costa Smog refused to give me any sort of refund, and said that I have to file a complaint with BAR. He then proceeded to tell me to, "get the f*** out" and called the police on me. Actually, he made a phony call to the police first which, of course, I did not believe. Then, when I continued to tell him to give me my money back, he looked up the real number to the police in the phone book and had an officer come down. I explained to the officer my situation and, of course, there was nothing he could or would do. He clearly was on the side of the shop, and gave me an attitude like I was crazy or erratic for even suggesting that the business had done any wrong.I am now hundreds of dollars in the hole and have spent hours of my time on this. I am a small business owner myself, and I cannot accept that any business (or human being) should get away with this kind of thievery. Contra Costa Smog needs to make some serious changes to their business practice, and I sincerely hope that this complaint helps illustrate their unprofessional and unacceptable service issues. I came for a smog check and liked a quick, professional service. Working on Saturdays is a plus. Pricing is very competitive. You can use online coupons. Recommend this shop.

Called and got right in for a smog check timing was perfect during the virus situation . Very pleasant even wiped down the inside of my car steering wheel etc really appreciated it.I have been there several times and will continue to go to them.

This is a great smog place they ones more helped me out. They gave me a discount for a coupon I took in and without hesitation took it from me. To get the discount they did not try to push any additional charges! That is great. Thanks Contra smog staff.

I called this place on a Saturday at 3:43 p.m. asking if they could squeeze me in before they closed at 6 p.m. The person who answered the phone said 'No, we're done for the day.' I was a little confused because their listed hours said they closed at 6, so I asked him if they still closed at 6. His response? 'No. On Saturdays we close up when we get hot.' VERBATIM. ARE YOU KIDDING? IT'S SUMMER AND MID-AFTERNOON IN CONTRA COSTA COUNTY. Blatant lack of professionalism. I guess they don't appreciate potential paying customers.

Was looking for SMOG Certification around Pacific Plaza and found this Smog Check station. It was quick (about 15 minutes) and with reasonable price. I finished registration renewal right after passing the test.
