Were first recommended to me from a trusted mechanic when I needed an alignment after buying tires elsewhere last year. Decided to try A-1 for tires for another car. They offered multiple choices with great prices. Helpful communication and were able to fit me in and complete work promptly. Love the new tires, will use again

Made an appointment for an oil change and smog repair through the online form. The email in response to confirming the appointment was incredibly unprofessional. Once my car had been dropped off for over three hours, I called to check on the status, only to be told it was sitting there waiting for me to come pick up the car. I just had a loose gas cap and they didn t even change my oil, WHY did it take 3 hours?? I wouldn t recommend going to this place due to the timing and unprofessional nature of the situation.

The people supporting this business are honest, skilled, and very service oriented. Even on our first visit they made accommodations to fit us into the schedule on short notice and solve our car issue. A-1 costs less than the dealer, and in our opinion delivers better service, honesty, and very skilled mechanics to diagnose and safely make repairs. I have been using A1 Brake & Tire for about four years. They serviced my Prius before I sold it and now they service my Honda CRV. Stellar service, great communication, nice people, fair prices, and completely honest. I give them my highest recommendation.

This team has been great to work with. I feel like they treat me like family. Great explanation on what was going on and, after 3 quotes, they didn t try to fix what wasn t broken like the two other quotes did. My car had had the check engine light lit for some time due to an emission system issue which I wasn't too concerned with and was planning to have repaired when I had the time. Then, as soon as the weather started to get hot, my coolant temp sensor went out, so my wife traded vehicles with me and did the footwork to find somebody close to home for the repairs.Everybody was booked solid! A-1 like everybody else was booked weeks out, but they looked at the schedule and found a small window just a couple days out where they could squeeze us in!The quote to repair just the coolant sensor was very reasonable, so my wife asked if they had the time would they look at the emission issue too, not really expecting it.When she went to pick my SUV up, they had not only repaired the sensor, but a small vacuum leak (the emission issue) and replaced a bulb that had gone out, without adding any cost to the origional quote!Talk about 5 star service!I would give these guys 10 stars if possible, they've earned my business for life!Thank you A-1 Brake & Tire, y'all are fantastic!Service: General repairs & maintenance

This place is trustworthy! I m not super knowledgeable about cars and this is a huge thing! A1 clearly care about cars and their customers and value building trust and loyalty over shady upselling. I have brought a car here for a pre purchase inspection and also a second opinion inspection after the dealership tried to tell me I needed $1000+ worth of repairs. The tech at A1 looked over my shocks and tires, clearly explained what to look out for and confirmed my gut feeling that I didn t need any of those repairs the dealership said I needed. He did this all on the spot without charging me a cent. I ll be moving my future service and repair business here moving forward. Thanks A1!

Honest, experienced, helpful, clear, personal, excellent service! Have been going to A1 since they were my parents' mechanic and now they are mine too, for the last 30 some years. They have earned my trust. I recommend them to friends, who also love their service. Their work and checkups gives me confidence that my car is doing well. They help work around my budget. Excellent personal family business.

Great experience. Took my 370z when I thought I needed brakes. Technician George calls to tell me I actually didn't need brakes, just fluid. That's honesty. And that's why I'm bringing my car back when it actually needs brakes, or anything else! He took the time to explain everything and was great to work with, everyone there is great to work with. Thank you A1!

I had 2 cars need repair work during the same time. Since I've been going to A-1 for 15+ years I took both in to get fixed and both needed special attention. Car #1 had a part replaced that turned out to be defective from the manufacturer and was only caught by the A-1 test drive after installation. They immediately returned the part and ended up having to go to the dealer for the part. All was handled expeditiously by Joe and the crew. Car #2 is under warranty purchased from a dealership and thanks to Joe he was able to convince the warranty company that A-1 was the best option for the repair which was a huge relief to me and the car was repaired with the confidence of A-1's work.

I was referred to A-1 a friend, and I'm so glad I was! They took my car and gave me an honest opinion about the situation so that I could make an informed decision. They are willing to go above and beyond to make sure you're a happy customer. Definitely looking forward to going back anytime my cars need to be checked!

You won't find a more reliable, professional and all around decent auto repair shop than A-1. Our family has been relying on Joe, George, Gary and Corbin to maintain our vehicles for over 20 years, and before that our parents for another 20 years. You know that you get what you pay for when maintaining your vehicles, right? Don't cut corners and just go to A-1.

HONEST. INFORMATIVE. RESPECTFUL. PATIENT.I cannot speak highly enough about A-1 Brake and Tire! My car broke down on me in Walnut Creek. I called a few places in the area and finally got George on the phone at A-1. He was very friendly and within reasonable towing distance so I decided to take my car there.The entire process from start to finish could not have gone smoother. George and his staff were friendly, informative, and did everything they could to make sure that I understood what was going on with my car (being that I am not mechanically inclined) and what my options were moving forward. They were also extremely patient with me throughout the process as I decided whether or not to proceed with a costly fix.I am so appreciative to have had the service that A-1 Brake and Tire provided. It made this difficult and unfortunate event in my life considerably easier. Thank you!

I can't speak to the actual work they do here, but I was beyond impressed by the service at this shop. I stopped by the other day with my all wheel drive vehicle needing at least 2 new tires. I prefer to shop locally, but the last work I had done was at a major chain. The gentleman who helped me at A-1 admitted that it would be way better for my vehicle for me to return to where I last had the work done as they would have the tires in stock that I had to have on my car, since it's all wheel drive. In other words, they'd rather do the right thing than make another sale. This is the kind of mechanic I prefer, and the next time I need tire or brake work done, I'm shopping here.

The staff here is absolutely amazing, and the mechanics are fabulous and extremely competent! In all the many many years I've been going here, have never had any problems with their service/work! I recommend them to everyone I know!! I have been going to A-1 for over 20 years. They do everything on my cars. I wouldn't trust anyone else to do what they do. So honest, helpful and dependable. It's been 3 years since I posted my review. I still feel the same way. They strive to do the best.

A-1 Brake and Tire has been Taking care of my cars since 1984 and they always "go the extra mile" to make sure everything is working well. They explain what needs to be done, give me choices when appropriate and get the work done on time. They are great!

I was heading off to college and thought it would be a good idea to have my van checked out so I brought it to A-1 Brake and Tire. I told them the problems that I was having with my car and they said they would check it out. When I got my car back they said everything was running great which surprised me since it has almost 200,000 miles on it, and it shuts down on me sometimes, but i trusted them since they are the professionals. Of course later that day my check engine light turns on and my neighbor checks it out and says it is a idling problem (which I told A-1 to check out since i had noticed rough idling). This made me wonder what they actually checked on my car, I was surprised that they couldn't diagnose the problem and now i spent over $200 for them to tell me my car is good while it actually needs to be taken back to another shop. I am very displeased with my experience at A-1 brake and tire and hope that this was the one bad experience because they were nice people.

Really helpful and very nice. They told me exactly what was wrong my with vehicle as well as recommendations for maintenance by the manufacturer before charging me a penny. I've never had such a family-feel experience from an auto-shop before and I will definitely be taking my vehicles to them for all work in the future.

I was overcharged and oversold by 220.00. I called 3 other local shops after my brake pads and rotors were replaced and all three shops would have done the job I needed for at least $220.00 less than what I paid at A1 Brake and Tire. I'm disappointed and feel I was taken advantage of. I hardly ever write reviews but I don't want others to have the same experience.

My car had an intermittent rattle which never seemed to happen when a mechanic was driving it, making it difficult to locate. A-1 thought they identified the problem in the right rear wheel bearings, but they were hesitant to make the repair until they were positive that would fix the problem. They said they didn't want to waste my money on something that might not be the problem. It's that kind of integrity that keeps me coming back to them for over 30 years. I told them that I trusted them enough to take the chance on the bearing repair. So they fixed it and the rattle has not recurred.
