Great experience. Ulysses was awesome. Came in out of the blue for a break leak. Truck was fixed in a little over an hour and at a reasonable rate. I would recommend this shop to anyone. Good people.

I had the brakes (pads/rotos) replaced on my Kia Sorento a few months ago with a mechanic near my home. I live in Mexico, but had bought the parts in the US and brought them to the mechanic near my home.After the job was done, the brakes were grinding and the stopping distances were not quite right with my Kia.So I went to Brake Works to get a second opinion (for lack of a better term - it was really a first opinion, but an inspection of the work that has been done) and Luis did the inspection. He was extremely knowledgeable and friendly.The inspection was free, and the conclusion was that the parts (rotors in particular) were the cause of the issue, not the original work I had done. In other words - I had purchase the wrong parts, but the mechanic near my home had done the work properly.While this is a relatively simple review of a short inspection, in my eyes it's an important one: I went to Brake Works willing to have work done and made it clear that I wasn't happy with how my vehicle was driving, despite the new brakes.Luis (or another employee) could have easily blamed the former mechanic and charged me for a job to re-do the brakes. And because the issue WOULD be fixed by installing better rotors, I would never have known.Instead, Luis spent a lot of time with me, explaining why the parts I had bought were not good for our coastal climate, and recommending that I wait a while to see if the issue clears up once they've been further broken in.Honesty like that is important, as was the knowledge of the specific parts and issue, and Brake Works gets the highest recommendation I can give!

Best mechanic shop in San Diego I've been in the las few years, by best I mean great people specially Ulises and customer service that shows they care and believe me, I've been around a lot of mechanics, very reasonable prices and excellent delivery time, I am a fleet manager and for the last year I have taken all of my vehicles to them because I know our vehicles are on the road all they and they can't be failing when working, not a single car has returned to get repaired fix the same problem twice.

Came to the wrong shop and found out it s was the best shop Giancarlo and his uncle took care of my for edge I was supposed to go to another shop and Google maps sent me here instead I m glad I came here to brake works they took care of my car fast I highly recommend this shop and the prices are very competitive

By far the worst company I have ever worked with and will not recommend anyone to take your car here. The only thing I can say is they have great prices but not for the work they do, the owner cussed me out and didn t pump my brakes back up before I left and almost caused me to crash into the vehicle behind me. I also lost my wallet there and they have denied it over 4 times that they did not see it but the tracer on my wallet says it s in there shop. This company will give you a very hard time if your hoping to wait around for your vehicle to be ready. Please be more professional if you re going to own a business!!Service: Air & cabin filter replacement

After my parents received horrible brake service at Sunroad Auto Service dept on Balboa Ave, my brother brought our parents car here to be worked on since he had good experience with them in the past. They immediately determined a problem with the brake boosters and replaced them. My parents were going to be charged 4 times as much at the other place. My mother reported the car is braking so much better now and they literally saved my parents lives. We will all definitely use them in the future. Thanks again!Service: Brakes

These guys are amazing. I walked in to make an appointment and they said they could do it that day. They gave me a price within minutes and in an hour and a half and I was out of there. 100% satisfied with this shop. I sent my son in as a first time car owner and they treated him with outstanding service. They were knowledgeable about services the car needed and shared that knowledge with him. They treated him like an adult and made his first time experience memorable.Can't say enough how satisfied I am with everything from the staff and crew down to the cost of service. Brake Works pricing is exceptionally affordable. I just can't see any reason why I would go anywhere else. Great job y'all!

This is the shop that you hope to find for all your vehicle repairs!! If your looking for honesty, trustworthiness and experience this is the place! Luis and his team are by far the best in the Industry, from his friendly and welcoming receptionist Leslie to his Patient, Experienced, and Honest Master Mechanic Sergio this team will get your vehicle back on the road and make sure that it is safe and reliable! The word up sale is non existent there. They explain everything in full detail to assure you understand the service your getting. The Owner Luis is very hands on as a shop owner as well as specializes in high performance builds! Outstanding work guys thank you!

I needed a brake job and read a few reviews. Came across Brake Works and all good reviews so I showed up at 8:00 am. The owner was very nice and friendly, free inspection and told me all I needed was brake pads. Rotors are good. Quoted me a very decent price he did to work right on the spot and quickly. Other customers came and I appreciated his honesty with them as with me. Highly recommend this family business for any auto repair needs.

If a person cannot work on their own vehicle, one of the best things to have is an honest mechanic. Honesty in this world is in short supply, but Luis stands out. He was upfront about everything. I had a major problem with the car from a recall that was done by the dealership. It was going to take a few days to get the parts, so he and Leslie offered to have him drive me a half hour to work and then pick me up late at night - who does this? He's the first I've ever come across. I was able to get other transportation, but just the fact they offered blew me away.The work done is high quality, done quickly and is reasonable. Car worked perfectly after he was done. Oil changes are a breeze now. I know if anything goes wrong, I have my ace in the hole. Guess in this case I can buy peace of mind, as I know I can trust them. Leslie has the office flowing and Luis and the guys will get you dialed in. I now have a great mechanic; if you don't, no need to look further.

DO NOT GO HERE EVER!!!They are the most conniving, money hungry retched thieves in San Diego county. They tried to overcharge me for a simple break job that ended up costing just 15% what they were asking in a different shop. DO NOT GIVE YOUR MONEY TO THESE RATS.

Luis is very knowledgeable and courteous. I took my Suburban in to have my brakes worked on, it is evident he is very good at what he does. I am a fairly new customer but will be returning for work on my other cars.Highly recommend this shop.

This is the best mechanical place I had ever been. Luis is very honest, he told me that I had the option to wait a little longer to replace the brakes but I went ahead and did them, they have excellent prices and the service was beyond I expected. Leslie gives the sweetest loving customer service I've seen for a long time. I will recommend it to everyone I know, thank you for such great service, it does feels like family going there. Down to earth, communicates well, reasonably priced for their expertise. THESE GUYS ARE GOOD! I would suggest this shop to anyone. I had an ongoing issue with my brake system and they gave me amazing service with a price I don't think I could match doing the myself. I was very blessed to find this place. The owner and his wife were also so nice and helpful. 5 out of 5 any time hands down!

So I ve brought my car to Luis twice and I m really happy with the work he does. The first time my brake lights weren t working and he fixed it and charged me nothing. When one of them went out again he said come back same day and fixed it and we haven t had a problem since then. The second time I had a dishonest mechanic that caused some issues with my brakes. They had charged me over $700 for just one caliper, pads, and rotors on the back. Luis has to redo the whole back brake system and for 2 calipers, pads, and rotors on the back he did it for around 350 AND they helped me get financing to help me cover it. I m really happy with the work they did, they are really sweet, honest people and I ll be bringing my car back there frequently now. Nice to have a mechanic I can trust!

Outstanding customer service! Initially told brake service would take an hour and half but took about three hours due to extra work that needed to be done. Technician discovered that a part that goes with my emergency brake system was missing. Brake Works installed the part with no extra charge. While test driving my vehicle the technician noticed it was shaking when using the brakes. Brake Works replaced the front rotors with no extra charge. Technician explained and showed me everything he was doing. Definitely recommend Brake Works!

guys here where super honest. i came in wondering if there was something wrong with my brakes, and instead of doing what i expect many places would do (telling me that i needed a ton of work) they told me everything was fine and that i probably just needed to bleed the lines a bit. thanks for saving me a ton of money!

I ve been to this place twice now and both times I had a great experience. They are professional and friendly. They ve done excellent work and the prices are so reasonable. They don t try to sell me a bunch of other offers while I m there. I feel they are honest and only do what s necessary. Not many places are like that nowadays. Fast and reasonable prices but didn t put all the hardware on my brake pads when they change them. Only put 1 of 4 of my brake pad shims on and didn t apply brake lubricant on brakes. I m still puzzled on why they ask for a tip when paying.

I WOULD GIVE ZERO STARS IF IT WAS POSSIBLE!! Recently had to do a hard stop to avoid an accident and my brakes went spongy and soft like I lost brake power, took it in here to brake works but they said my brakes were fine when they were not after they test drove it and that I just needed to slam on my brakes to fix the problem....which in itself says there is in fact a problem with the brakes and not fine....So they told me that if I continue to have problems to bring it back, So I had to bring it back because the problem was still there...I had to buy a new brake master cylinder and had these guys install it and the "problem was fixed"....only it wasn't, now the brakes grab and engage by themselves and my brakes overheat and cause the entire car to shake violently and the brake pedal becomes hard to push/depress. These guys didn't seem to care really at all about fixing my car or even dealing with the problem...I had an issue with my brakes before this issue and they fixed the problem so I don't know what brakes works deal is this time but I had to take my car somewhere else to get fixed legit and the new mechanic told me it's the master cylinder and/or brake booster where the master cylinder connects to the brake booster, basically the work that was done here at brakes works is the problem. I will not be coming here again, bad experience and didn't fix my car or brakes, made them worse and wasted money!! I do not recommend coming here if you really rely on your vehicle to get from point a to point b and safely!!!!! Go somewhere else and get the job done right and done the first time!!!Service: Brakes
