I trust Jay. Period. I have a lot of cars. I have been to a lot of mechanics. In Ventura County, there are two I trust. One is Jay s. If there isn t a problem, he lets you know. If there is a problem, he charges you an honest price. I ve sent my daughter there who is lazy and would rather take it to a place closer until I told her she is paying. We live in Ojai. We pass unknown amounts of mechanics on our way to Jay s.

Jay went out of his way on New Years Day to help me. He happened to be in his shop on New Years 2024 when I saw his door open and he was inside - I needed a smog because I waited too long to get it done.When I saw him I asked if he was open - he said he was not and was actually closing up. I was bummed and he could tell.He asked what I needed and when I told him, thought a second and said, c'mon I'll get you. Stayed extra time on his day off to help me.Great to meet a genuinely good person!!!

I have been going to Jay's for decades. A great mechanic and truly honest.My daughter came up from Huntington Beach to have Jay work on her Kia.

Great for old carbureted engines because Jay can get them to pass smog testing with a little tuning.Very friendly and helpful staff.This is probably common sense but make sure you get a hold of someone on the phone rather than leaving a message. I left messages that didn't get checked but when I spoke with Jay or his employees they were prompt and got the job done. Not really a problem really as long as you know this.I will definitely be coming back to Jay's for my next smog check!

If you want an honest mechanic, this is the guy to go. He was helpful. Checked out my brakes for 15 bucks. Told me what the problem was exactly. He didn't try and pull some cryptic answerYou can tell he cares about his customers. He did my brakes and they were great. This is the guy to take your cars to.

I've been taking my 1998 Toyota Camry to Jay's since I moved to Ventura four years ago. I came from Chicago where I was all too familiar with sneaky, untruthful mechanics all too willing to mislead a woman who had little interest in cars other than driving them.Yes, my car has lots of miles (248,000+) but I decided to keep it going because of its reputation for longevity. I never once was pressured by the guys to do so. In fact, recently Jay said I was pushing it and it was probably time for me to buy another car.Can you tell how high in esteem I hold these guys?

My Mercedes Benz technician recommended Jays. I would not go anywhere else for my smog check.Jay is a very nice guy and a skilled automotive technician in his own right.

My truck broke down while I was passing through Ventura on my way north. AAA suggested Jay's, so I went with it, and am thrilled with the service. They were pleasant, reasonably priced, and got me back on the road within a couple hours.

I ve been going for years and my family knows him well and he is definitely one of the best priced, best quality, and best service from the owner Jay himself! His brother or whatever/who answers the phone is quite rude in my opinion but other than that person, I love it!

Good guy good family owned feeling his brother is awesome so is Jay hard to get in cause he's so busy but if you wait for him he's worth it.
