*UPDATE 4/23*I reaffirm Chris's quality work and customer service. He is a great listener, dependable, and consistently provides timely feedback at all stages of the job. I brought my X3 for a change of the oil pan gasket, oil filter housing, brake overhaul, and strut replacement, and the car runs like brand new. I look forward to coming back to him for services in the future.*Independent Transmission has been possibly the best in customer service that I've experienced with a mechanic. Chris is honest, patient, and easy to talk to, and the quality of his work is superb. He and his team perform a wide range of services on a variety of vehicles, so their expertise is hardly limited to transmission work.My 2004 BMW X3 had a failing transfer case, so I brought it to Chris in hopes of having it rebuilt. He proceeded without hesitation, and upon identifying the source of the problem and weighing a rebuilt against a replacement offered me an honest recommendation to go with the replacement. That turned out to be the best option. I had Chris rebuilt my Nissan Altima transmission and was very impressed with his shop. I have never seen a shop more organized, clean and well equipped.He took me back to his rebuilding area and explained what parts I needed and showed me the problem areas of the transmission. He recommended a shift improvement kit with the work and now the car shifts better than it ever has. Thanks Chris!

I've been taking my cars (both every day drivers and show cars) to Chris for about 20 years. He's a terrific mechanic, but more important he's honest and honesty is very important to me. He's not cheap, he doesn't used cheap parts. He's not expensive because his work lasts. I've never had a problem with him. If he says something needs fixing it's for sure the something does need fixing.

I took my 2014 Ford fusion in today to have the transmission serviced then I found out he does much more than transmissions so I had him flush the radiator too. Chris and the mechanic were very informative, I recently moved to the Ventura area after the Santa Cruz fires and I m so happy to have found a quality honest and very reasonably priced Mechanic. I had called three different shops today and asked about a transmission service, Independent was less than HALF the price of the other professional shops. I will be back for a full tuneup and to bring my 2004 F-350 turbo diesel in for a transmission service. Don t go anywhere else I m in my mid-50s raced cars for over 20 years and could tell the second I walked into the shop that this was a quality mechanic s shop.Service: Transmission

This is the best auto shop I have EVER used. I picked one off of Google, and boy did I get lucky. I was out of state and having serious car issues stemming from bad sensors. Chris was patient and kind, honest and extremely knowledgeable about the issues. He even showed me the problem when my car was on the rack. He is very fair with prices. 4 weeks later, When I returned to my home state, I developed a leak from a gasket I had asked them to replace. I paid for the repair and thought I'd give it a shot to see if Chris had some type of warranty. I had little hope and was weary to even call, but he was so kind and right away agreed to PAYPAL me the cost of the gasket repair work. No questions asked. How incredible! I wish I lived in Cali, this would be my go to mechanic for everything! Thanks again, Chris. You're the best.

We had Chris do the fuel injector service, brake job and transmission service on our Toyota Sequoia with 266,000 miles on it. He has serviced the car for several years now and it is still going strong. Chris is an honest man who will work with you to do repairs as your budget allows, and the work is done right the first time! I highly recommend Chris Park and Independent Transmission to my friends.

This shop is a all service Automotive Shop not just Transmissions . This is my third posting and rating for this shop . Five stars is not enough for the quality of service provided by Chris and his team and customer service or. and his entire team Focus not only on your current visit but their goal is to ensure quality pricing quality service and attention to detail. I have taken all five of my cars over 15 years ...now 17 to Chris for any and all needs. And my nephew's and my mother-in-law now have gone and Don't let the transmission part of his Shop fool you. He can pretty much fix anything If you go into his shop look on the wall at all the certifications and training that he has strived to keep up with and to provide all of his clients. Great pricing offers options and a dying breed of honest-to-goodness mechanic. You would be a fool not to go to Chris and his shop.

Chris is one of the most honest people I have met in a long time. The wirkmenship was great and the price fair. He let me know I had other problems with the van but never pressured me on what to do. I will use him from now on.

Highly recommend Independent Transmission especially for hot rods or modified vintage vehicles like my custom 1970 F250. Chris has the knowledge and expertise to match the best components for high performance vehicles. Always available and happy to help whenever you call with questions. Honest and takes the time to explain options and any potential changes in work or cost. Well worth the commute from Santa Barbara.

I am so happy that my car is up and running again. There were 3 other shops that could not get my car running, but when I went here, they quickly diagnosed the problem, and had it fixed in no time!! I limped my Cadillac CTS Over to Chris at Independent Transmission.This vehicle was endless money pit with Numerous quotes in 5-6k range for transmission overhaul.I stressed to Chris my low budget and Let me see what I can do was his reply.Chris called me back a half hour later and quoted me $2900 .I said go ahead and One week later he called and said it was ready...Expecting to pay at least 4K I was very fortunate on the great price!! Chris at Independent Transmission is the number one stop shop in Ventura County

Independent transmission is by far the best Transmission repair shop I have ever been to... and trust me I've been to a lot of shops. This transmission shop was smart, efficient and economical and they have an amazing crew. The master rebuilder / owner Chris Park is a class act... He is an amazing guy who is honest and willing to give you the best possible price in town. So if you need a repair or a complete overhaul on your transmission I would highly suggest calling Independent Transmision in Ventura Ca.I lucked out and found this Transmission shop off the ATRA Automatic Transmission Rebuilders Association....That's right that says it all.Thank youCameron M.Santa Barbara ca

I paid him 2600. For a transmission Repair and had to take car back immediately because car was hesitant to go in drive. I had car towed back to him and he said no it's not the transmission. So for 4 years I kept telling him my Transmission is out. Hes like your right you have complained but now its 4 years and the warranty is up. I can fix it for 3000. Dollars more. I had him look at car several times about transmission and he would say no it's not the transmission.

Thanks for fixing my car Chris! Reasonable prices, fast and friendly service. Got me back on the road the same day. Thought I needed expensive parts but they were able find and fix the actual problem which was just a wire. Fixed my power steering pump too. Highly recommend them. Thanks.

Great mechanic. I needed O2 sensors replaced on my 1998 Lexus LS400 in 2007, he finished it in 10 minutes (and even used the O2 sensors I already purchased, since I thought I could do it myself). I had a problem with the motor of my 1999 Ford Expedition in 2010-ish, he fixed it and even fixed another issue (after he notified me and got my consent to do so). I just sold the Expedition in Jan 2016, and it was still running like a champ! Thank you Chris. See you in a couple hours with my BMW... :-(

I'm pretty car savvy, and had no doubts of the work or pricing they provided. Complete rebuild of my meat ground tranny was less than a week including ordering parts and diagnostics. Extremely satisfied with the service I received and will be a repeat customer if any of my trannies go out again.

The only place that knew my 22 year old transmission. 3 other shops had to look it up. Price was reasonable, and turnaround was quick. I will go here for all my automotive needs.

Been coming to Chris for about 8 years and has taken care of me everytime...needed my transmission bearing replaced on my 2006 Cobalt and was given a very good quote...had the work done and couldnt have been happier...my current car a 2014 Ford Focus needed tge tran fluid changed and an oil change...Chris and his staff went and took care of that also and was extremely inexpensive and great service....will be back for the next major service in both my car and my wife's car....
